Very bright flash and explosion over Lincoln, Ne., on Thanksgiving. The only phenomena present in the incident was a sudden very loud report and simultaneous atmospheric strobe.

From military experience, the explosion was very similiar to that of a medium to large caliber artillery munition. the sound seemed to come from directly over the city. This was heard by my wife and me and two teen-age daughters.

One daughter was looking out the window at the time and reported a very bright (like daylight) flash of light just before the sound. Although I suspect a low atmosphere meteor detonation, I am unable to confirm it.

Suspected large meteor, unreported in news media. Daughter and i driving South on Hilltop on Eastern outskirts of Lincoln, sighted glowing, disintergrating object 180 degrees true, 20 degrees declination, going almost exactly North to South. Within 10 degrees of Southern horizon, object completely disintergrated and disappeared.

By behavior, we suspect that object was a large meteor. News media had no information.

I was sitting here at my computer Sunday morning, and heard the wierdest sound I have ever heard. I got my tape recorder out and recorded 2 sounds out of a total of 4. It sounds like some type of code in musical form.

I heard it 4 times and got it twice on tape. I played the recording for several people, and they have never heard anything like it before either. I called a local computer store, played it for them, they said the same thing.

I am wondering if I could get you to listen to it as well? It is rather a strange sound. I cannot get my sound recorder to work, or I would have recorded it on there. I recorded it on my portable tape recorder, by placing the recorder by the speakers.

I would really like to know what this sound was and where it came from. ((NUFORC Note: We have listened to the sound, and it may be a garbled voice, transmitting on single side band. That is just a guess.

We have been witnessing some very brilliant lights moving at incredible speeds and doing some very strange movements. For the last 4 nights after work my boyfriend and I have been going home and have seen lights bouncing, making loups, and all sorts of strange monevers. The first night we saw it, it was very close I got scared and we started to go it kept up with our car at perfect speed until we reached town and then went back up into the sky where we watched it move around for several hours.

The last two nigts we have also seen this. Last night 11-9-2002 we saw at least five the lights seemed to be red-white-and blue until we looked into the video camera and it was an assortment of all colors changing very fast every few seconds it would let of something and the screen would be blury. We watched this for several hours again and it was still there when we left.

It was very high in the sky. I was at the football game around 6:30pm when a cigar shaped UFO was in the air.I tried to get photographs with a digtial camera but the photographs somehow got out of the camera.

The UFO had red lights.There was no sound.The thing was going very fast.

Tear shaped brillient gold light over neighborhood in Nebraska City, NE A thick fog filled the air the night of my experience. I was always very observent of strange weather so I watched the fog "roll" in. In the fog I noticed a bright light peering thru the fog.

I just thought it was a helicopter flying low because of a car acciedent or something. I continued to watch it and began to grow brighter and brighter like it was getting very close to my house. When it was in the air over my neighborhood it was so bright I couldn't see the helicopter I thought it was.

All I thought was the spot light on it was pointing my way. I left the window and turned on the scanner to listen what was going on and nothing indicated any thing was going on, in fact the chat on the scanner was very odd. The police and station personel were laughing and joking around with no normal police codes being said with very personal like conversations going on.

When I went back to the window was when a stunning, in shock like feeling came over me wi! th what I saw then. A brillient gold like light was hovering approx. 20' above the trees and I yelled fo my girlfreind to come look and when she got to the window, before I said anything about what I was seeing I asked her what she was seeing.

When she explained the "light" as I was seeing it I grew terrified. Then I saw another light not as bright but still brilliant gold like and the same size. With this one I could make out the shape of the lit up object.

It was a crooked tear drop shape, moving slow and not realy in one direction or at least not in a straight line. Finally I heard somthing that made sence on the scanner "do you guys see the light up toward the hill"? I waited for a responce but nothing. Infact, nothing the rest of the night.

But back to the "lights", and third one apeered and this time the three I could see were shining a "super" spot light or beam in a patrolling like matter toward the houses, ground, and trees. No sound realy came from them b! ut, I could almost feel them flying kind of like a train in th! e far di stance that you can't hear but on a calm quiet night you can feel a train coming. I ran from windo to window looking for more of the "lights" but couldn't see any out the other side of the house.

What I did see is light in the air like a stop light colors, three total. I huddled in the corner for some of this night terrified the spot beam would point see me. The presun rise was starting to light up the sky and the fog and the lights all disapeared and the scanner went back to normal.

There are other details about other strange things I saw that night like I could see in the distant the line of tail lights toward the highway all seemed to be parked or stopped. I don't know what I experienced that night but this site I found tonight seems perfect to get this of my chest and see if I feel better about it. If I try to tell someone like a friend about this they look at me like I am on drugs.

Bright, sphere shaped light that seemed to float back and forth, then disappeared. I was comming home from Omaha with 2 friends. We went to a concert and left early.

As we were pulling into wayne, about 2 hours north of Omaha, I was hanging out the window because it was really cold and we were playing a game. I looked up and saw a sphere like light that moved across the sky and stopped, then went in the opposite direction, then disappeared. I had told my friends and we pulled over and by the time we pulled over it had vanished.

It was probably 1000ft.up in the air, and was very bright. It was probably a one of the coolest thing i had ever seen.

Stationary object sighted over Omaha days apart. Standing in parking lot of workplace waiting for a ride. I looked directly up to see a stationary object I estimated to be about 75,000+ feet directly overhead of me at the 96th and L Street intersection of West Omaha.

Height estimate is based on height of constant overhead airplane traffic over Omaha which I would imagine to be at roughly 37,000 feet. The object remained stationary for over 45 minutes when another appeared next to it. Spherical, I believe, but too far up to discern any details at all.

It looked like a star. The 2nd object appeared and moved away from the other over the course of 10 minutes. I later heard the news of the "new moon" or "space junk" which had found orbit around Earth.

Perhaps this is it. The sun at these times is 2 hours or so from setting, and it would reflect on this object. The skies were very clear.

I saw it again today, 09/16/02 in a slightly different location, and I captured about 20 minutes of it on VHS videotape. Various zooms were used, mostly the camera's max, then some digital zoom (which pixelates.) as well as some "pulled back" shots with reference items in sight.

VHS tape recorded by a Panasonic AG456 SVHS Camera, tripod mounted. I was in the parking lot of my workplace, an audio visual equipment rental company. I narrated all pertinent details such as time, date, height of nearby buildings for reference, on the tape while recording.

What a way to start September. I went to stand by my window AC unit and looked outside my bedroom window. I saw this strange light.

It didn't look like an ordinary plane or other flying object. It was triangular in shape. When I first saw it, it was just a bright white/clear looking light.

I grabbed my cheap pair of binoculars and began to gaze at the object. After about a second of looking at it through the binoculars the color changed and suddenly appeared neon green and a redish pinkish color. It looked really amazing.

Suddenly the street light by my house went out, the lights of the apartment next door turned on, my friends house across the street's lights started going on and off, and the wind picked up and began to blow the trees rapidly about. The nieghborhood grew quite odd for a few minutes with many wierd things occuring. The object changed speeds all of a sudden and moved very quickly for about an inch and a half distance (that is it seemed from down here on Earth meaning it must have been miles).

As the object traveled through the sky, it seemed to rotate as it moved, kinda like how the planets rotate in the sky as they orbit the sun. It was rotating one way and moving another. There are very tall trees next door.

The flying object was blocked from my veiw by the trees. I could see it through the branches a bit. I went to my other window hoping it would countinue going straight and appear to me once more, but no such luck.

I believe the object flew over to the other side of my house and was then out of veiw.

Observed unusually bright object moving in conventional orbital pattern but not listed in online satellite resource. Saturday night, August 3rd, I decided to go outside into my backyard and do a little star gazing and see if I could see any satellites passing overhead. My 'window' of observation is rather confined because of large trees in the yard.

The back of the house also blocks views to the west, as well. In addition, clouds were just moving in from the northwest and beginning to obscure the sky. I did, however, have a good clear view of the sky immediately overhead with Vega shining brightly.

I decided to grab my binoculars and folding cot and enjoy the night air for a few minutes. I had just laid down and gotten comfortable when I noticed a 'star' of nearly the same magnitude as Vega and just to the southwest of it. However, this star was moving.

I quickly put the 10x50 binoculars on it, but it still remained just a single bright point of light. It was moving on roughly a south to north track at about the same speed most satellites move, but the unusual brightness suggested to me that this wasn't a conventional satellite. I've observed the International Space Station pass overhead and it was comparable in brightness.

As I watched the object move further north, it faded out as it moved behind the thickening cloud cover. I quickly took note of the time and went online to www.heavens-above.

com, a web site that provides orbital observation information on hundreds of space objects from the ISS to Russian space junk. I found no objects that coincided with the time, magnitude [brightness] and track of this object that would have been visible from my location. Whatever the object was, it was unusually bright for a satellite though it certainly exhibited most of the other characteristics of a conventional satellite.

Flying Semi Tractor? I just found this sight and thought I would report what I saw about a year and a half ago. I dont know if it was a UFO but it was definitely something I have never seen in the sky before. I live in a rural area in northeast Nebraska so it gets real dark and quiet at night.

One evening I was doing some work in my shop and I heard a faint rumbling noise outside. I decided to step outside and see what it was. Its pretty normal for me to hear the rumble of high altitude commercial airplanes or the occasional "thump thump" of medical helicoptors traveling to hospitals between towns.

When I looked outside to see where the sound was comming from i saw a large boxy/rectangular shaped craft flying approximately 500-1500 feet above the ground a little to the south of me. It came from the east and traveled west. There were several lights on this craft, some in front some in back and some on top, more than a typical plane or helicoptor.

I stood there a minute or so looking at this thing trying to figure out what it was. It moved about the speed of a helicoptor but without the normal "thump thump" sound. The best way for me to describe this craft was that it resembled a semi tractor with its boxy shape and lights.

I went inside and grabbed my binoculars. When I came out I followed it to the west for about 5 minutes with my binoculars until it was out of sight. I tried to see if it had wings or helicoptor blades or some kind of recognizable outline.

All I could make out of the shape was the form of the lights. A boxy shape. I thought to myself that the whole incident was quite odd so I went back to work in my shop.

About an hour later I heard another rumble sound and went outside to check it out. To my surprise it was the same craft traveling from the west to the east. Again I followed it with my binoculars as far as I could see to the east this time.

There were no other aircraft in the air at that time, especially at that low altitude. That was the only time I have seen this thing. I figured it had to be something military but there arent any military installations that would be doing manuvers in my area that I know of.

I was driving in my work truck, north bound on the by pass road (Hastings, NE) by the over pass next to the waste water treatment facility. The craft was a greyish color, the best description of the shape would be similar to a bus. No wings.

It appeared as I glanced in that direction. (to the east). When I looked back, it was gone.

My estimation is the craft was approximately 200 meters off the ground and within a couple miles. I was shocked, there was another car on the by pass in front of me. I have always wondered if they saw it too.

Bright, low altitude white light moving accross night sky at medium speed. I stepped out onto my back deck at about 10:10 P.M.

to enjoy the nice, cool, clear night. A couple of minutes later, I noticed a bright, white light moving somewhat towards me from the NNW. I thought that it was strange to see the landing lights of an airplane near my house, as I am not in the flight path of the airport or the Air Force base.

The object appeared to be flying at about 10,000 feet and moving at a medium speed. I watched the entire time as it passed just to the west of my home, flying in a SSE direction. The intensity of the light stayed perfectly consistent as it moved toward me then away from me.

As it passed, I realized that if those were landing lights, then they would fade as the object passed me, but the light stayed just as intense, so therefore it could not be forward lights on a plane. So then I wondered if it possibly was a helicopter with a spot light, but why so high and there was no obvious beam pointing down, it was just a solid intense light. Then the light disappeared in mid air.

At that point it was a few miles south of my home. Then I realized that there were no beacons whatsoever on this craft. I never heard any engine noise, and it was too dark to see if it had a shape.

I just thought that it was odd that there were no beacons and how the light just disappeared in mid flight. This was unusual for an aircraft, even a military aircraft, NOT to run its beacons and to be equipped with a light so bright in all directions. ((NUFORC Note: ISS passed over Nebraska at 22:13 hrs.

Chrome-like cigar w/ wings, quiet, low flying in unusual flight pattern, with no identification markings. Sitting on balconey @ approx 17:00 hrs. on 06/09/02 saw a low flying, very quiet, cigar shaped object with wings.

Especially unusual: 1. Made no sound while passing over head, but had a low hum after passing 2. Direction: straight South to North.

3. Very shiny as chrome in the sun. 4.

NO markings, numbers, or any other identification of any kind. 4. Very low flying, much lower than even most private aircraft.

5. Watched as object very slowly moved North, then through a cloud, reappeared, then went through a larger cloud and NEVER appeared again. Have never seen an object like this in size, shape, color, flight pattern, etc.

Do live by an Air Force base and commercial airport, but still have never seen anything like this. This is the first time that I have ever reported a sighting of an unexplained object in the sky. I was moved to report this as it was so very unusual.

So.a military aircraft or other man made object?.

I saw two space alien ships fighting with each other, and making weird sounds and seeing different lights and shapes. The night of the 26th in March I was driving home with my two kids from my regular run in the truck and I saw an extremely weird looking light that was kind of changing shapes on me. This was about 8:47.

When I continued to look at it, it changed shapes again and I little kind of another alien ship came out of the bigger alien ship. They were, what it looked like to me firing at each other. I say this because they continued to shoot beams at each other.

My kids were frightfully scared because they saw the beams hit the ground and they thought they were going to get hit. These six minutes seemed to last a life time. They seemed like they were there for more like thirty minutes.

After they were done fighting they crashed into each other and as they fell from the sky the alien ships seemed to disintegrate into thin air.As the alien ships were falling from the air they made a distinct high pitch ringing noise that was one of the loudest sounds I have ever heard in my life. After this was all over I looked up into the sky, it was very dark outside.

When this ended it was about 8:53. There was a kind of streak that was looked to be left from the descending alien ships. It almost looked like a river of dust into the sky that seemed to have evaporated into the atmosphere.

High above an orange light (looking like a star) moving too fast makes immediate sharp turn. As I'm outside enjoying a new pair of headphones and smokes outside my dorm I'm stargazing. I notice an orange light high in the sky moving too fast for any aircraft make an immediate 90 degree turn from Southeast to Southwest* -- this was a very sharp turn, no curve, no deceleration.

It vanished shortly after. *My directions could be incorrect as this was 20 years ago, however the sharp 90 degree turn is accurate.

flying object with circle pattern of lights changing to a V pattern of lights I wish i had pictures or a video. When I was in high school, my best friend and I were driving around on country roads in rural nebraska (we didn't have much to do) There wasn't a cloud in the cool night sky. Something caught our eye.

it was a bright light in the sky. We couldn't tell what it was, but we decided it wasn't a star and it wasn't a plane so I drove closer to it. As we got closer the light became brighter and more visible.

The light became clearer as we got closer. The light was actually 6-8 lights in a very precise circle pattern hovering in the sky. We estimated it was no more than a few hundred feet in the air.

At our closest point we stopped the car to get out and look, shut off our headlights so we wouldn't be noticed. No more than a few seconds after we got out of the car the lights moved very smoothly and took only about 4 seconds or so turn into a "V" pattern. Once it was in the "V" the object flew west so fast.

it was out ! of our sights in less than 20 seconds. Really spooked us but nothing had become of it even though I watched the news for similar sightings but apparently no one else saw it. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date of sighting is approximate.

my wife and i were heading west on the sargent rd. about 6:25 pm when i told her that i thought i saw venus, because it was to be coming into view as a evening star around the end of feb. well it was bigger and fuzzier and seemed to be moving at us from inside the car it was at about 30 degrees up when looking ahead.

then it turn to a dark brown and seemed to have a trail of smoke behind it and up maybe three of four times it's diameter going up. this view lasted for about 45 minutes untill it droped behind the tree line to the west of us.
