Dark brown circular object flew silently South-Southeast. I was dropping my 8-year old son at his mother's house about 8pm central standard time, Wednesday, December 15. The sky was mostly clear.

We got out of the car and looked up, hoping to see leftover shooting stars from the Geminid shower. I saw a circular object, mostly dark brown with a slighty lighter shade in front, flying steadily South-Southeast. The object showed no lights and made no sound.

It was unusual in its apparent size and altitude. It might have been a hot air balloon, except I saw no basket or burner. It could not have been a plane; there were no lights and no wings.

It was no bird; the flight was too high and steady. The altitude must have been several thousand feet. I watched for a minute or so as it flew out of my sight.

Unprompted, my son asked, "What was THAT? It looked like a flying rock or something." There were no unusual power outages - my car continued to run during the sighting.

Object moving erratically in sky stopped by spot light Ok this is a event that took place on 2 days Day 1. It is harvest time and the sun set. You could see most of the stars.

It was a very calm night i felt no breeze and i could hear everything clearly (type of night). My father come out to relieve from combining corn me so i can eat. I get in the pickup and he makes 2 rounds.

On his way back from the second round (he is heading north), I get out of the pickup and took a big breath of air. I like warm calm nights makes me feel alive so to say. I turn to look north towards our place (1 mile north) cause i wanted to look at the big dipper.

All of the sudden I see a bright light in the sky to the north east, If you would take a welding arch white type of light that is how white it was just not as intense, though it stood out like a sore thumb (if you held your thumb out in front of you and put it over the light would be about the size of object, If you are into math you can use info later here to estimate size). I thought nothing of it and looked at where my father was with the combine and he was heading down the hill not quite half way in the field. I looked back wondering if i could hear any engines thinking it was a helo or a plane.

Heard absolutly nothing except the faint sound of the combine. It would have been between 5-7 miles away and about 2 miles or 3 miles ubove the ground. I looked back at the light and noticed it was moving erratically.

Now by erratically i mean it moved up and down in the sky really fast but in very short bursts (not far up or down but very fast). It also did not stop but did move forward fast then slow down in short bursts (not far forward and would slow down). I had to turn away and blink to actually see what i have been seeing.

While watching the movement I was also thinking it either was unmaned or had inertial dampeners. With how fast it was moving in the short burts no human could stand the movements for a long period of time. All the movement was done on a line so to say (basically draw a straight line and it would move up and down on it and then move forward fast and slow down on it.

When it moved up and down on it it would move the same distance up and down on it). It would move up and down and then move forward on that line and move up and down again. Sometimed it would move forward once slow down and forward again and slow down again, then move up and down 2 times in a row.

It was heading south west. Needless to say i had seen that object move to the south west and i had watched it for about 3-5 minutes till I could still barely see it and i quickly crawled up the ladder to the combine asked my dad if he could see it in the distance when he got to the end and he couldn't see it (very bad eye sight). He thought i was nuts and made it up.

Day 2 2 days later. We were done early with the field we were harvesting and we took the rest of the night off. I got the little 22 rifle and a spot light and went rabbit hunting.

It was an identical night to the first night calm, no wind 70 degrees out or so. Anyway I had gone out back and got just to the north end of our trees (100 yards of trees) and seen the exact same thing only 1 mile closer. Moving the exact same way exactly same movements.

I got chills down the spine. First thing i did is listened for an engine. Heard nothing.

Looking for anything i could use to identify it. Saw nothing. Then i thought to myself shine the spot light on it (1 million candle light power).

I shined it on it for a second as i was looking NW now (the closest I would be to it). It stopped moving erratically and started moving in a straight line on that line i was telling you about before at a constant speed. I then shined it on it again and got scared out of my mind.

A flashing light turned on underneath the object (in my mind to fool me or someont to think it was a plane). I went running back in the house and told my dad and again he thought i made it up. I use to go hunting all the time and sit for hours patiently waiting for a skunk or something snooping around.

an unseen object passed overhead from in back and then to the front of me, it cpa'd my location to my right side and was approx 20 - 25 degrees from straight overhead as it passed. The object's course was approx 105 degrees. The object was only heard for approx 3-4 seconds.

The object's only sound was a "whoosh" sound that produced a classic doppler effect. At approx 0205 on 07/19/99 I was fuelling my truck at our terminal in Lincoln Neb. I was alone on the fuel island at the time.

I was startled by a loud-sudden sound slightly behind and above me (approx 25-30 degrees from straight overhead). I instinctively looked over my right shoulder and realized that I was under the awning of the fuel island and the lights had ruined my night vision. I followed the sound with my eyes hoping to see something as it passed into view on the other side of the awning but I saw nothing.

The only sound from the object was the aural "whoosh" of something cutting through the air, there were no other sounds such as turbine or prop that would be associated with a conventional aircraft. The total duration of sound from the object was 3-4 seconds and produced a very clear doppler effect as it CPA'd my position, indicating "a very high rate of speed"!!! I grabbed my compass from the truck and estimate the object was travelling a base course of 105 degrees. I am retired military.

3 years in the army as a cryptologic intelligence analyst and 17 years as a naval aircrewman aboard p3c orion anti submarine aircraft. I was an acoustic analyst and used acoustic sounds to track underwater submarines.

Hovering teardrop type shape with vertical "smokestack" coming out of top, Driving west on I-80, witnessed it dissapear. While driving west on I80 at about 0720 I saw a strange shape hovering to the southwest it was somewhat teardrop shaped although it was more like an old coffee pot. It had a vertical "smokestack" coming out of the top of it that was white.

The body alternated dark on the top which sloped to a point like a roof, the middle was white with vertical sides and the bottom was dark and rounded like a bowl. I estimate it's size at 100 feet tall and 60 feet wide. It hovered, rising and settling verticaly and drifting to the southwest.

I was watching when it disappeared the first time. It darkened like a shadow fell across it and then their was a blur of sideways motion and it was gone. I continued to search the sky for it as I continued west on I-80 and as I topped a hill there it was hanging in the sky again where before there was nothing.

I continued watching it rise and settle as it drifted to the west. It seemed to be parrelleling the Interstate. The rolling hills blocked my view once more and as I came back to the top of the next hill the object was gone.

Triangular object observed Triangular shaped object observed moving silently across the sky at night. Observers were waiting for a small private fireworks show when it was spotted. Initially it appeared as if three slightly red stars were moving in unison, then the observer realized that light in the background was disappearing and reappearing on the other side as the craft moved, signifying that it was a solid object.

The sides were about 2.5cm or an inch at arms length. The object was a black, right isosceles triangle with a slightly red light at each corner.

There was also a very faint red ring at the center that was not immediately noticeable being about a quarter to a third of its overall size. I can't give a directional orientation, but it moved across the sky totally silent with a constant speed. The sighting lasted around 5 minutes.

I am 15 years old I think I was around 9 at the time of the sighting. Anyway, it was in the day time and me my friend and their mom we driving somewhere. I looked up in the sky.

I saw three yellow things forming a triangular shape. I told them to look at the the sky. We all looked at them and suddenly they where gone they had to mving very fast fast then a blink cause that was how fast they where gone.

I was outside and I saw some flickering outside i couldent tell what it was though i stood thee for 25 mins. There was yellow and some green and some light like.

A Sphere or Cirle As bright as a star hover atleast 40-60,000 Ft. I was sitting on my parent's back porch watching a plane traveling North to South when I saw a bright light in the sky. At first I thought it was a star, but it was 19:00 hrs, with the sun well above the horizon.

It was too early to be seeing stars. So I got a pair of field glasses and got a better look. It was a bright circle with something dark brown or red on one side of the circle.

During the course of my observations I saw several commercial aircrafts travel at appox. 30-40,000 ft, It appeared that this object was well above this altitude. I was able to observe the object for approx.

1 hr. Both my parents also witnessed the object. It could have been a weather balloon, I've never seen one before.

But my guess is you wouldn't be able to observe one for that long. Nor would it be as large as I would think this object must have been. My guess is 2-3 times larger than a airliner.

Eventually I saw it disappear like a light going out. During the course of the 1hr. the object did travel some distance across the sky, no more that 3 fists from an extended arm.

Personal biography: This is the first sighting I've ever seen. I would not dismiss the Idea that it was a weather balloon ascending out of sight. My education is BSBA, MBA, I am a financial analyst for a national law firm, my father is a retired M.

D. and my mother is a homemaker. ((NUFORC: Venus may be visible in the western sky at this hour, but we do not have any explanation for why it would have suddenly disappeared from sight.
