Both witnesses see cigar shaped object in sky, tree level, far distance, when reaching crest of hill, object was gone. Travelling approx 50 MPH in a Westerly direction, passenger notices and points-out cigar shaped object in the sky. Driver verifies object that, within seconds, dissappears from sight due to interference of treeline.
In only 5 seconds, automobile reaches beginning of crest of hill with clear view of the area the object was last seen, object was no longer there.

Very bright stationary light which decreased in intensity just over wooded ridge. My wife & I owne property and a barn in Columbia although we do not live there. In September of 99 we were painting the barn and staying over there for a couple of days.
On the night in question I woke up at about 3 am needing to relieve myself and went outside. It was a very clear night - lots of stars, no moon. This is a very rural area and in the direction I was faceing (NE) there are very few ground lights.
I at once noticed a very bright white light over a wooded ridge about 1/3 of a mile distant it was just at the tops of the trees and I could see the tops of a couple of pine trees in front of the lower half of the light. The light did not move and I could not imagion what it could be. After watching it for two to three minutes it suddenly decreased in intensity to about one tenth of its origional brilliance and remained at that level as I watched it for another several minutes.
At this point I was getting very cold and went back in to bed (to sleepin bag). The next year, late in the Spring, I walked to the ridge which has a large clearing in front of it from logging. I found nothing at all to account for the light.
I have never seen the light again although I look for it every time I am up in Columbia which is 4 to 6 times a year sometimes staying two to four days to work on the property.

We saw a white rectangular-shaped object very high in the eastern sky moving very slowly. While driving east on Route 4 in Durham, NH we saw, very high in the sky, a large (for that high) object that was moving very slowly. As it was white in color, it looked like the shape of one of space shuttles, but without the nose or tail fins.
There were no markings. It definitely too big to be a plane up that high. We watched it for a few seconds move south to north, then it disappeared behind a cloud.
I watched for it for several minutes, but I couldn't find it again. Living in rural NH I have seen at least two other UFO's - the first was on Nov. 1, 1989.
A bright light caught my attention, then, separately, a huge triangle shaped object hung low in the air making no sound. We have also seen series of white lights forming a large V fly over the area a few years ago. We have also woken to bright lights shining in our 2nd floor bedroom windows from above late at night - with no sound associated with aircraft.
My kids (who have both witnessed these events) think I'm weird, but as a professional working in investments, my feet are pretty well on the ground. My first sighting in 1989, however, did change my life.

I was awake with my eyes closed, beam came thru my window & I opened my eyes I was awake in my room with my eyes closed, a direct beam entered my room & was directed at my right eye. When I opened them, the beam retracted thru the skylight (light didn't illuminate room). I looked outside & saw bright object thru the trees, & told myself it must be the moon, but I knew direct beams didn't come from the moon.
I didn't get a clear view of it, and a few moments later, it vanished. The object was in the southern night sky when observed.

When 1st seen at 10:45pm it seemed to be a bright blue-green rectangle. Soon it seemed to become narrower but very elongated. A bright pulse of light seemed to travel its length occasionally.
It was observed for 1.5 hrs. The incident I'm about to tell you about took place last night (June 8, 1999) at approx.
10:45 PM until past 1:00 AM (June 9th). I live in Manchester, NH and was in my backyard. Last night about 10:45 I was taking a dip in the pool before going to bed & a bright light caught my eye.
When I looked up (towards the west, about 60 degrees) I saw a bright green rectangle of light behind the clouds. I watched it for a few minutes then saw other bright green streaks light run parallel to it. After about 4 minutes the rectangle lost its "width" but it was getting longer.
I ran in the house to get my wife, who came out shortly after. BUT, my son figured he'd come outside and amuse Dad. I really figured I'd either imagined it or that there would be nothing there when they came out and they'd chalk it up to senility in the old man.
As soon as we got outside all I heard was my son say "Oh my God". It was still there!!! We watched it together for over an hour! It's green light definitely "pulsed" & seemed to do a few "chase" patterns. We saw some white flashes of light come out from the side of it.
Yes, we did call channel nine, the local TV station. They said they'd love to have a look but probably couldn't get anybody to where we were. I told them to just step out of the station and look up! Her reply was that "we're pretty busy here tonight".
This was like every sci-fi alien invasion movie ever made. Two guys see it, no one believes it or checks it out. I got out the video camera but I couldn't find it or focus on it thru the view finder.
At times the light would seem long and narrow, sometimes whole, sometimes with a "dark" or unlit section in the middle. Other times it seemed wider and the light more concentrated in a rectangular shape. But it never regained the severe rectangular shape I first saw.
Another very strange thing was that it would suddenly "turn off", then on again. It was partly to mostly cloudy during this time, but it's light was definitely visible through the clouds. Just before I finally went to bed I checked out the window & it was still there, but had gone from green to blue.
Anyway, I was just really grateful that my son & wife were there to see it too. I'm trying to checkout NASA and the Nat. Weather Serv.
to see if they reported anything. There's no way we were the only ones to see this thing. If it was a hoax of some kind, it was a good one.
I've seen the Borealis before & this definitely was not it. It was west-south-west, about 60 to 70 degrees off the horizon. I did check for comets and found that the Comet Lee may have been visible (if I read this info correctly).
Anyway, I know it may sound like I'm losing it.but I know we saw something, I just don't know what. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time .

Hazy "white light" oval shaped craft emitted blue beam of light downward in proximity of Piscataqua River and US Naval Yard and Nuclear Submarine Facility. I have hesitated up until this day to report this event. Although I understand it has been almost 1 year since the event, I now believe it's important to report the event even though I want to believe it was nothing more than a trick of my eyes.
As the months go by I am still drawn to what I saw and hope that reporting it will at the least get this off my mind. I was driving to my last home (apartment) on a warm summer night approximately in Mid June of 1999. It was just after dark and perhaps a bit of "dusk light" left in the sky.
I can't exactly recall, but it was mostly dark at the least. Beyond the treeline of where I live is the Piscataqua River, which is home to the US Navy Yard at Portsmouth, NH. Among other things that are developed at the Navy Yard, the base supports the building of Nuclear Submarines.
Perhaps there is no connection, but I would think that if there was a motive for a UFO to be in the area, that would be it. The treeline is approximately 500 ft away from the area that I spotted the craft. Furthermore, if you extended your arm as far as you could away from your body and measured 2.
5 inches with your index finger and thumb, that would be the vertical distance between the treetops and the craft. Based on that, I believe the craft was no more than 80-100 ft in the air. The trees are approx.
50-60ft in height. It is not an exact science, but I'd said it's a fair estimation. If the trees were 500ft away from where I was, then the craft was 550-600ft away (since from where I was it appeared that the craft would have been hovering directly over the river or just beyond the tree line where the trees meet the river).
The craft itself would appear to be 40ft in length (width) and 20ft in height. The blue beam was about 1/2 the width of the craft or 20ft wide and appeared from the bottom and center of the craft. The craft was moving slowly east or towards the mouth of the river, rather than further inland.
As it moved a blue beam extended from the craft below the tree tops and out of my view. I believe the craft hovered just along the bank of the river at times since the blue beam did appear to light up some of the trees. The craft moved at an approximate speed of 10MPH.
I did not hear any sounds. The craft was a glowing white light, but the light was isolated to the craft and didn't seem to extend beyond the craft. It's as if the craft itself was the color of milky white light.
As I continued on the road I lost the craft below the trees. I do not know what happened after that. I also, to this day, don't know why I didn't stop to get a better look.
Again, I just simply didn't want to believe what I saw. I only hope this serves to rustle up some other witnesses to this event. Mr.
Davenport et al, I hope you can make a call for NH Seacoast residents to recall their memories to last summer to see if anyone else saw this event.

Large triangle shaped craft hovered soundlessly near Elm St I never want to see anything like this again I well understand that this event occurred four years ago. I have been hesitant to talk about it, however having discovered this website I thought it is time now to do so. I am reporting this just as I wrote in my journal that night so it isn't as though I am relying on fuzzy memories.
It was on the night of our wedding anniversary and my husband and I were driving home from my mother's house on the west side of the city. I was driving north on Canal St. then took a right(east) onto Brook St and proceeded to the intersection of Elm St.
From there I went left (north) onto Elm and it was near the Bellman's Jewelers store that my husband first noticed what looked to be a very large jet. It was pretty low and appeared to be heading toward the direction of Manchester Airport. He lost sight of it momentarily as it seemed to disappear behind the New Hampshire Insurance building.
It was so large and bright that he told me to watch as it would be flying right over our car. But as we were stopped at a red light at the intersection of Elm and the Amoskeag Bridge we both kept looking for the jet however it didn't appear. When the light changed I drove on slowly past the NH Insurance Building (it is on the corner of Elm & the Amoskeag) looking for the jet that had seemingly disappeared.
I was looking out of my side window as my husband watched from the front windshield. It was near a funeral home that I decided to pull over to the curb as a set of lights caught my eye - red and white, not blinking and distinctly shaped like a triangle. At first I thought that it was somehow attached to the roof of the building like a set of decorative lights.
But I realized that the lights were not fixed, rather they were HOVERING. And it was very large. I got a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, like I had been kicked and lost my breath.
I was overwhelmed with a sense of fear, wishing I wasn't there. I screamed at my husband "It's hovering!" He leaned over to look out the front windshield and the object began to slowly move toward the south. It was so close to us, just across the street.
My husband then opened the car door and stepped out and look. I started to panic as I was afraid for him. The object made absolutely no sound and seemed to float effortlessly southeast over Elm St.
heading toward the airport.! By this time I was so frightened I only wanted to leave. I shouted for my husband to get back in the car.
When we got home we stayed up until 3 am talking about it and I had a restless sleep filled with nightmares. The above description, as I stated before, was taken from my journal. To this day I am frightened when I recall that night.
My husband had always said he would have to see something for himself before he could believe yet he cannot explain what we experienced. That it hovered soundlessly I cannot put out of my mind and I cannot come up with any sort of reasonable explanation. I hope I never see anything like that again.

I was called by a friend on the phone who said she and her husband had just seen a bright light moving silently and speedily across the sky, changing directions. I went outside to look and within a few minutes saw a light move from points east to points south, almost the entire field of view. It then made a sudden 45 degree turn and cut straight across the sky, passing directly overhead and continuing until it was out of my field of view.
It appeared to be very high in the sky. The object appeared to be a steady, white light, moved without making a sound. It was a very clear night.
I thought perhaps it was a plane, shooting star, or even a satelite, but was convinced otherwise when it made its sharp 45 degree turn with no reduction in speed. Speaking of speed, it remained constant the whole time, taking about 45 seconds to go from my far left to my far right, then about another minute after it made its turn. I am 31 yrs old, married with kids, and studying to be an accountant.

disk was following my car very bright blinding brightness, low as tree level on windham depot road.

I was lying down with sunglasses on. I saw a bright light with an aura around it in the opposite direction of the sun. I took my glasses off and observed it more.
It moved in circles after about 5 minutes. Then I realized another aircraft was "chasing" it. I watched the light try to stay away from the disk-like figure.
At on point, after about 20 minutes, the light changed blue and "shot" something at the other craft. The other craft then had the blue glow around it and in a couple seconds completely vanished. When the blue thing was shot out, there was a quiet, yet irratating hum.
I am a trust worthy student that has been interested in UFO sitings as long as i can remember. I'm not crazy and I believe there is life on other planets. Why would there be one tiny planet chosen out of a vast universe?.

Contoocook NH is a very small village. We were coming off the highway into Contoocook and there were 3 lights in the sky. Bigger than stars but not huge.
I noticed they were moving but they were moving erratically and separately and told my boyfriend to stop. One would move up very quickly while another moved right or left and yet the other would go in a different direction. They moved very, very, quickly.
No noise at all. Nothing else in the sky was moving. We sat and watched for quite a while.
They stayed in one area and just kept moving very quickly in all directions. These definitely were not military. There is nothing that can move that quickly, that erratically nor switch direction that quickly.
It was amazing. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date of incident is approximate. PD)).
