Nebraska UFO Sightings in 1997

Multi-colored "pole," appearing to hang in the sky for several minutes before dissipating slowly, from top to bottom, into darkness. My mother and I were returning home from Iowa after Thanksgiving in 1997, driving in the middle of the night. My mother was driving; I was in the passenger seat, looking out the window, as we drove along the highway through endless farmland, indistinguishable in the black of night.

I don't recall if there was a moon out, but as I gazed out the window my attention was suddenly grasped by what appeared to be a lit pole - long, thin, and vertical - hanging in the middle of the air over the field on the right side of the car. I have no idea how far out it was; it was a very dark night. The light of the "pole" was rainbow-colored, blended like a spectrum, and did not appear to light the field around it.

It hung there for several moments, doing nothing; then, starting at the top and working its way slowly down, the light dissipated and was replaced by darkness. The minute it started doing this I turned to my mother to ask if she was seeing what I was seeing, only to find her looking out my window with a shocked expression. She said she saw it, too, and we watched it until all of the light had dissipated.

I could not make out anything that might be connecting it to the ground, but as I said, it was very dark, so I made it a point to search the same fields on subsequent visits to and from Iowa. Taking the exact same route in the daylight, on several visits, at no time did I see anything that looked like the strange pole we saw that night, nor have I found any reports of anything remotely like it. It has been a constant, haunting presence in the back of my mind ever since.

I am a State employee, assisting with investigations for the Department of Human Services; my mother is a former dental technician, now working for a company that assists the developmentally disabled.

white lights spinnin in a circle i was sitting on my front porch and looking up at the starts with my girlfriend and the i looked at here and then we looked back up and then we saw a big volt of light in the sky at 12:00 at night and then we ran in side becuase of how scared we were.

ufos on the moon???? while going to the local watering hole for a couple of adult beverages my now ex girlfriendand i decided to walk the three blocks. we were standing in the front yard heading south south east with a beautiful full moon when i caught a bright object in the sky. i thought it was a metor or a satellite when it seemed to be heading for the moon joking with my ex i said wouldnt it be weird if it disappeared into the moon and sure enough as soon as it got within the brightness of the moon it was gone.

Summary : Me, and two of my friends were outside late tuesday night, when we saw five lights in a pentagon shape. The lights started moving slowly to our right, and then went out, kind of like turning out a light. Me and my two best friends were sitting out in my back yard, because we wer having a sleep over, at around 10:00 p.

m. We had got a nice conversation going, when all of a sudden Kim, one of my friends, pointed out toward the sky. Me and Megan turned our heads.

Staring in amzement we saw five big, bright lights, too bright to be stars. We all noticed that the lights were arranged as the points of a pentagon. I belive that there was only one object.

The lights moved rather slow to the right, then disapeared. It all seamed so fast. Right after that we ran inside, and started writting stuff down, like the time, the shape of the lights and other stuff.

I remembered my dad, and my brother talking about a contest, and how they were stuck on a question. thats when I noticed this report place. I ran to the basement turned on the computer and came here.

My two friends as far as I know are very trust worthy. I have known them all through elementary school.

Summary : A bright light seen in the sky, when observed through binoculars seen as a bright light surrounded by three to five others, hovering and then moving to another spot My friend and I were observing stars andsatellites after lighting our fireworks.After tracking a satellite for severalminutes, we observed a growing light in thesky. It seemed far away, and looked likethe landing lights of a plane.

Werealized, however, that that was impossiblewhen we realized that it was not moving, andcouldn't be a helo that was hovering as itbeen there several minutes and was soundless.I am a pilot and would have been able toidentify whether or not it was a plane whenI looked at it through my binoculars. Itappeared as a bright, central white lightsurrounded by smaller lights, not like thewingtip lights of a plane but completelyaround the central light, being of blue,green, and red color.

I noticed throughthe binoculars that the object would moveslowly, stop, then move again. I sawsomething like this earlier (around July 2nd)and read in the paper about observers inLincoln on a lake and how the UFO they sawput out their campfires before taking offin the realtive direction of my town. I ama very scientific, rational person, and justwant to know what it is I have been seeing.

Summary : UFO sighted in plain daylight cruising at low altitudeand without audible sound in Omaha. Two individuals sighted an unidentified flying objectat the same time on July 1st, 1997 at 3:20 pm from diffrentlocations in Omaha, NE. One reports seeing asaucer-like object of a deep iron color with aribbed contour on the sides flying slowly andat low altitude across a clear cloudless sky.

The object seemed to glide slowly then abruptlychange directions and disappear into the sky.The second individual also sighted the flyingobject but from a different angle. The objectwas flying towards the observer.

No audible sound was noticed. There seemed to bea bright light coming from the front part ofthe object. This person confirmed the jaggedcontour of the object.

Both observers found it odd that such an objectcould fly because of its design as it had nowings.

On a spring night in 1997 I was sitting in a car at a park with a friend talking. I would periodically look out my window for no reason in particular. At one point looking out the window I saw a bright white sphere definately in our atmosphere.

This white sphere was motionless and far larger than any star. Not shocked at this point I told my friend to take a look. He acknowledged it.

A moment later the object began to move slowly for ten seconds then rapidly southwest-soon out of sight. We kept looking in the sky after that and a few moments later it all happend again. Seemingly the same craft.

And upon recognizing it, it did exactly what I previously described. But this time, possible coincidence, a jet flew toward the S.W.

as did the UFO. We talked to each other for a moment and looked back at the sky. We saw what I would decribe as a "simon says" game in the sky(blue yellow red green lights) This was certainly a craft and much larger than the spheres.

I started opening my door for a good look, as I did my friend screamed "Oh my god!"and pointed at door. My door slammed shut on me and there were two Schnauzers(dogs) growling scratching on the door.as if preventing me to leave(it worked!) I noticed three more of the SAME dogs over to the left.

Two sitting still, one running back and forth histarically in front of the "sitters". the sitting dogs were looking at our car! There were NO owners around we did not see the dogs before the crafts, and I've never seen so many dogs of same breed together unattended in my life! I believe I have had a "screen memory" as described in Whitley Striebers book Communion. Needless to say we started the car and got out of that park right away.

The park was next to a highway and residentials, so it would be unbelievable if I had no second witness, but I did. I swear I saw all that I have written here. All of this experience I will never forget, espescially the "dogs" The first two objects, possibly the same craft were bright white spheres.

The third was circular with four lights. each light took approx. a quarter of the bottom of craft.

the lights were 1 red, 1green, 1blue, 1yellow. I also saw five dogs that looked exatly the same. The first two spheres were motionless, then after being witnessed for a moment they took off until out of sight.

The "simon says" game did the same. Two dogs pounded on my car door, two sat quietly in the distance, one ran back and forth like doing windsprints for football warmups. Three crafts observed, one jet observed, five dogs observed Two object bright white, one red,yellow,blue,green- jet color unknown-dogs grey and white my backround is a 19 year old male raised since three years old in Lincoln NE.

I was in high school and since graduated. With interests in poetry, philosophy, art, music and politcal actions. the other witness was a 18yr old now 20 male from Lincoln NE.

Woman called to report that she had been driving west on an east-west runninbg highway with her daughter (age 9 yrs.), when they both noticed an "aircraft" with 3x blinking lights on it, located about 1 mile east of the town of Clatonia. The light on the "south part" of the craft was blue, the light on the bottom was very bright red, and the light on the north side was white.

The caller stopped her car before she passed underneath it, rolled her window down, and looked up at it. She heard nothing, no sound whatever. She then drove on to the next intersection, turned her car around, hoping to see whether the object had left.

It was then that she and her daughter witnessed a second object near the first, then a third and a fourth on the opposite side of the highway from the first, and very low to the ground. Even though there was low ground fog, they could see the objects distinctly. They saw a fifth object shortly afterward, at which point they decided to drive into town.

As they drove toward Clatonia, they saw another object come out of the fog. She called Columbus, NE, airport, where she learned that they had had no aircraft in the area at that time. They also told her that they had a radar "shadow" in the area where her sighting had taken place.
