Maryland UFO Sightings in 2002

chevron of lights resembling small v-formation of geese; silent; observation lasted approx 1 minute Clear, cold starry night. Object appeared over trees coming at me from the east, raesembling in shape, size, speed and apparent altitude a v-formation of geese, with I estimate four lights on each side, each light considerably larger/brighter than an average star. The object appeared at about 30 degrees above the horizon, approached to nearly overhead while slowly turning -- apparently banking -- left, or south.

As it did so the lights slowly faded and disappeared. There is often air traffic in the sky -- we are in the approach patterns for Baltimore-Washington International and Reagan National airports -- but there were no other aircraft in the sky at the time that I recall. Unlike aircraft this object displayed no blinking navigation lights and made no sound whatsoever.

Difficult to estimate altitude, but I would guess about 800 feet or more. At no time was anything other than the lights visible. I am an experienced observer, a military journalist; I am familiar with al! l kinds of aircraft.

This report was delayed by skepticism, but it defies conventional explanation.

I usually get up very early to take our dogs out in the AM, usually around 5:15 to 5:30AM. It was still dark, moon was partially covered, & there were many stars in the sky. While walking, I noticed a very bright light coming from the southern sky & assumed it was a plane or helicopter.

As I watched it, it was moving fairly fast & the closer it got, the brighter it got, I then thought perhaps it was a plane in trouble, etc. As it come closer, it was descending rapidly, & then passed maybe 1/2 mile in front of me, barely over the tree tops!!! It was a round glowing white ball of light and had a tail attached to it. It was moving fairly fast but was very distinctive.

It was so low that I thought it was going to hit our barn but it must have come down in a field close by. I did not hear anything when it "landed". I woke my husband up & we noticed that in the sky there was a "path" or rather a "band" in the sky where this object had traveled from south to north.

Sort of like a vapor trail left by big jet aircraft. Our question is, what would this have been? I called the local airport, the FAA in Baltimore, & I got the impression that they thought I was a nut. All I can say is that I am a professional person, in my forties, and this is the first time I have ever seen anything like this.

Please advise as to what this could have been.

not sure if i observed one object or 10 in some kind of formation. i am a 50 y o steelworker living in baltimore maryland,on nov. 19 at approximately 0520 i witnessed something that i cannot explain.

i am posting this in hope that someone can tell me that they seen the same object.i was observing the meteor shower as i was looking up i noticed a large object moving across the night sky from north to south.the object was about 5x the size of the moon.

Triangle shaped structure with lining the perimeter. In 2002, I had taken my dog outside for a walk. I was standing on our lawn in the front of our house.

My body was facing East towards another row of townhomes in my development (the different rows of townhomes form a square.) I had my head down because I was watching my dog but something caught my attention. I glanced up and I noticed lights directly above three of the townhomes in front of me (the homes are approximately 50 ft.

away.) I noticed there was a structure or formation to the lights. The formation looked like the right wing of an airplane except the "wing" was very large.

I initially decided it was just a low flying airplane and I convinced myself that I couldn't see the rest of the plane because it was being obscured by trees. The lights appeared to be along the perimeter of the triangle or the "wing". From what I remember all of the lights were white.

I can't remember if any of them were flashing. As I watched this structure I realized there was no sound associated with it and that it was just hovering. At some point it just seemed to disappear and I couldn't figure out where it went.

I didn't know if the trees had just obscured my view and it was just a plane that had flown away or if the "plane" had really just disappeared. I remember being perplexed and a little excited/weirded out. My gut told me I had just seen a UFO.

I ran inside and told my husband about what I had seen (my husband was not impressed.) I also drew a picture of the "plane" in case I had seen a UFO. I then called the police (at the risk of sounding crazy) and asked them if there had been any reports of unusual aircraft sightings or UFO's in the area and I was told "no.

" I felt like an idiot after calling the police and decided I had probably just seen a plane. However, after reading accounts from others on this site, I am now doubting whether or not this really was just a "plane". I really feel that what I saw was a UFO.

Bright stationary lights At roughly 12:15 a bright light was seen outside my window. At first I thought it must be a helicopter with a spotlight. Then I noticed there was more than one very bright light, three, maybe four.

I was suprised that the light was so bright, but I couldn't hear any noise. I opened the window slightly, there was silence, only the sound of crickets. I woke my husband up, he was amazed at the brightness of the lights.

We watched as the lights remained stationary for more than an hour. We eventually fell back asleep. When I awoke at 3:00am the lights were gone.

Couple felt threatened by UFO in Street, MD. I am reporting this from a local newspaper, did not witness this myself. The information is stated as follows: A complaintant on Millers Rd.

, Street, MD. advised that he saw a UFO going up and down in the sky. Complaintant and female were hysterical, advising that the object was coming down on them.

Large fireball slow moving across sky before suddenly shifting direction before going out of sight below horizon. Exact timeframe of sighting may be off by as much as a year. Walking approximately westward toward home from a friend's house after dark with another friend, I was looking upward as I like to do to look at moon and/or stars.

At first, I thought I was seeing a Halloween lantern hanging off the roof of a house as I was under a tree at that time and that was how my brain made sense of it. However, as we continued walking, I quickly realized it wasn't attached to the house. I thought perhaps it was a weirdly placed street light (many of ours at the time had a similar orange glow).

But as we moved beyond the limbs of the tree, it was very obviously a fireball in the sky. It was not possible at that time for me to work out the objects actual size, but I understood as being significantly high overhead. It was moving approximately southward.

My mind raced to work out what it was and I pointed it out to my friend, who confirmed she was seeing it too. I considered the possibilities of a meteor, satellite/spacecraft entering the atmosphere, etc. We kept looking around for anyone else to confirm they saw it too, but the neighborhood was notably quiet and empty that night (at least in the blocks we were walking).

We were very curious about this massive, orange/flaming ball in the sky, but not worried. As we rounded the last block to our destination, we stopped to watch it. This was when we became worried as it seemed the object was now on a downward trajectory to crash with the ground.

As it moved closer to the edge of the horizon from our vantage point, we wondered if we should brace for an impact from such a distance. Just then, the orange object suddenly shifted, heading noticably more westward before going down below the horizon and out of our sight. I still have no explanation for how something that big, moving so slow from our vantage point could make such a sudden turn like that, unless it was capable of extreme speed.

(I am fully aware that an object that far off can appear to change direction given the spherical shape of the Earth. This was not that.) At that point, my friend and I ran to our destination.

Upon entering her house, we immediately asked her aunt if she had seen it (her aunt hadn't). We turned on the local news and spent the rest of the night waiting for someone to broadcast a story. When it didn't and believing ourselves to be the only witnesses, we agreed to keep the experience to ourselves.

When the local newspaper the next day didn't make mention of the object and given my friends enjoyment of recreational drugs, I figured there was no point in my ever revealing a "crazy UFO" story to anyone. All these years later and I still can't get that memory out of my head and I still want to know what it actually was. If it was a known object, I would really like to know so I can put this memory to rest.

me and boyfriend out on the back deck drinking coffee and we see a cigar shaped craft flying overhead.it struck me as odd because it made no noise, had no wings and didnt leave a white trail like most planes do.it was cigar shaped and white and we just watched it fly over, i was like how can it not make any noise or have wings.

how can it fly like that.i was doing contract work for the FAA at that time and remember asking someone who worked there if we currently had any sort of aircraft that fit that description.and he said.

nothing i have ever heard of.so thats my story.

Cylinder light disapears without a trace Near BWI airport in MD. Cylinder gets skinnier and then disapears like when turning off a TV. 2 people saw the craft near BWI airport.

living near the Airport we are use to seeing aircraft. this craft had birght lights and there wasnt a glare from the lights like normal lights. that is why it cought our eyes.

after about 10 second of stairing at it. the cylinder craft disapeared completely. I myself have 20/10 vison and could no make out where the craft was.

there were no clouds where the craft had been and it was still mostly light out. it disapeared much like how a TV would Turn off. it got skinnier and disapeared without a single trace.

I would have passed it off as myself going crazy if the person i was with didnt ask if i saw it also.

A silent, blue oval appeared, flew east at high speed, then vanished. My friend and I were outside walking through the neighborhood one night, and we came to the back of the local elementary school where we sat down for a while. When we got up, we began to walk across the large field in back of the school.

When we got to the middle, I felt something strange and I looked up in the sky and as soon as I looked, a bright blue oval appeared from nowhere exactly where I looked. I told my friend to look and we stood there and watched the object fly across the sky. It was going very fast, probably several thousand kilometers an hour and it made absolutely no sound.

Overall, the object appeared, flew east and disapeared. We decided to stay there to see if it would return. A few minutes passed, and we observed a helicopter from the airbase fly halfway to our location and then return.

UFO hovers.changes direction.hovers.

repeats pattern near Ocean City, MD in Summer of 2002 I just discovered this website and for years had a story I wanted to tell but did not know of an official place to report it. About 30 minutes north of Ocean City on a beach, my girlfriend and I were sitting on a lifeguard stand looking at the stars. Far up on our right I saw a star that was moving.

Then it stopped and held its position. Then it moved again but in a different direction. Then it stopped.

Then it repeated this pattern several more times. With an understanding of geometry, I figured the the object must have been more than 10 miles above the earth. At the rate it was moving, it must have been traveling at many thousand miles per hour to move from one point to the other.

How it was able to pause its movement and just hover and then suddenly burst to another position is beyond me. I am a man of science but when I saw this object, it was a surreal experience. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and it truly frightened me.

It definitely was not a plane. There is no man made object I know of that could have moved the way this object did. This was an impossible event that I witnessed but it was very real.

Three rectangular objects next to the Moon. Solid Yellow color 2-3 min. I was driving out of my street and I looked up at the moon, I saw three rectangular objects next to the moon.

They were there for about 2-3 minutes. They were in yellow color (solid color and non-flashing). When I stoped about 2-3 minutes later, there was nothing next or near the moon.

It was a glowing ball that shot across the sky and left a trail of light behind it moving very fast. I was walking out to my car to get something out of the trunk as I saw a somewhat large glowing ball shoot across the sky. After the glowing ball shot across the sky it left a straight trail of light in the sky.

Bright Blue light moving over Brandywine MD changed to Orange then disappeared. Over Springfield Rd in Brandywine MD around 9:50pm. It was a Very Bright Light Blue glowing ball of light moving about half as fast as a Meteor would though this was much lower.

It then stopped near the horizon and turned a light orange color and moved slowly upward until it was gone. A few minutes later a Jet traveling very fast screamed over the area with its afterburners on. Another few minutes a second jet flew over much slower rate of speed.

The 3 connected triangles in the Sky It was a really clear beautiful day with absolutly no clouds in the sky. Me and a friend where sitting in a room. From the window I noticed a huge flash of light that resembled a lightening bolt.

My friend only saw the great flash. It looked to me as if smoke came from the flash. Then about 5 minutes later as we were trying to figure out what the hell we had seen we noticed what looked like 3 white triangles connected at the base tiliting high up in the sky and it looked like it was flipping on its own axis, was coming from where we had seen the flash of light.

It continued to travel across the sky until it appeared to look like a star and then it vanished. This happened during the day time. I never thought I would be one to witness such an event.

We were awakened by this loud sound around our home and saw in the sky through some trees this large flying object hovering over our area. We have never heard or seen anything like this and we knew it could not have been a helicopter or an airplane. It was slowly moving, sometimes sitting stationary in one position for long periods of time in the sky.

After slowly circling an area, it would move to another and we saw 2 white beams of light emitting from the object. The object suddenly left quickly after it was finished with whatever it was doing. We felt the object must have been positioned over the vicinity of New Carollton subway station or circling the area in search of a landing area.

We were deeply disturbed by this sighting and would like more information as to what it was doing. A large flying object of many lights and loud humming sound.

3 big red lights outside the Movie Theater as i came out from the movies saturday night, as the people were pushing and shoving out the front doors, I happen to look up above the tree line in the parking lot and saw 3 bright RED lights with a little white light at each end. I just stood there with my mouth open, trying to see what it was. I didn't have time to point to it.

it changed into a little dim light and then disappeared. Oh.by the way.

the movie was "Signs" that I saw. Power of suggestion? or did anyone else see this thing??
