A single eyewitness observed from a third-story balcony (west facing) 80 degrees from the normal plane and approximately 30 degrees north of the west-east axis what at first appeared to be a satellite or space station moving in the characteristicly linear sky-crossing manner usually observed in manmade orbital platforms. After watching the object for approximately 3 seconds, it abruptly changed direction (from my perspective, 25-30 degrees difference in heading) and appeared to accelerate. It then appeared to change direction again, this time appearing to moving out and away from the ground.
Observer: student.

Black square object seen over Austin Tx, Fall of 2002. This occurred last fall with low cloud cover and light precipitation so the object was highly visible silhouetted against the cloudy backdrop. The object was a black square shape and moved five times as fast as any aircraft I see fly over my house towards Austin-Bergstrom Int'l airport.
The object was also very large and had no lights at all. After the object moved across the sky to my left and behind a tree I ran in to get my roommate and when I came back out it had moved straight up or past the large tree. This thing was unbelievable and I am hoping there were other sightings of this thing.

There was no smoke or trailing from the fireball so it wasn't a rocket or metor. I was waiting for a traffic light change at the intersection of Hwy 183 & 71, as I was heading South on 183. I saw a whitish blue fireball apx 160 degrees above.
It became bright white then disappared. I thought it was a sky rocket because it was gaining height and heading from east to west from the corner of the airport. I did not see an object or smoke trail.

"Comet Like" Blue/Green streak before dusk. My six year old and I were driving on N FM 620 going South at around 5:45pm when a bluish/green "comet"like thing came out of no-where.it was very fast traveling east to west, lasted about 3 seconds and then disappeared.
It went right over me across the highway, and it seemed to be very low.it was right before dusk, and the sky was completely clear.there were plenty of cars around me that should have seen it also, so it should be interesting if anyone else reports it.
Whatever it was, it was beautiful, and left my heart completely pounding!!!.

Looked like a bright green shooting star, much larger, longer tail and brighter than a SS, headed in dowward direction. Last night traveling home on Highway 183 North my friend and I saw out the front windshield what could be described as a "bright green shooting star." It was different from a SS because it was mush larger and it was a lime-green color of light.
The diameter of the head of the SS was about 10 times larger than your regular SS. It traveled in a downward direction toward the ground although it was still very high up. It also had a longer brighter tail than a SS.
The color can best be described as a very bright lime green light almost neon in color. It was about as long as 6 full moons lined up in a row. This is the second time I have seen this, once about 7 days ago in the southwestern direction from Austin.
It was the same description also headed down towards the earth. How far away it was is hard to judge but it did not appear to be in outer space, more likely in the earths atmosphere. It was very noticeable because it was so very bright and green.
It was very bea! utiful and unusual. What it was I have no idea though.

Daytime observation of metallic object in Austin, Tx. Let me start by saying that I am a police officer in Austin Tx. On 08-28-02 at approximately 3:30pm myself and a friend were at the swimming pool at an apartment complex located at brodie lane and west william cannon drive(austin tx).
The sky was very clear with a few clouds in the distance. My female friend stated, "whats that" and pointed to the northwest. I looked up and observed a shiny metallic object hovering in the sky.
The object was shaped like a 3 pointed star (like the mitsubishi symbol). She asked me if I thought it was balloons. The object then changed formation slowly and began moving towards us.
It is difficult to estimate the altitude of the object when we first observed it, but it would cover about 1" in size held at my arms length. The object then came very close over the pool area (almost directly over) where we were. It had changed shape and was now like a vertical cylindrical object with blurred features.
The altitude had dropped to perhaps 100'. I knew that something was way out of the ordinary when I observed a metallic object projecting from the right side of the craft (?). The sun was reflecting on the projecting object and I know without a doubt that it was solid and definately not a balloon.
It appeared to be almost chrome colored. It also appeared to me that the object was traveling against the wind (moving from northeast to southwest). We were, up to this point, the only two people at the pool.
Just as the craft was over the pool area 4 teenagers approched (3 males 1 female). I asked them, "do you see that.what do you think it is?".
They all watched the object with us for a few minutes and did not reply. The object hovered over the pool area for 1-2 minutes and then began moving towards the southwest again. As it did it changed shape again and started gaining altitude.
I lost sight of the object as the roof of the clubhouse blocked my view. Let me state that I could hear the noise from the traffic on the roadways, and air traffic in the distance (a ! southwes t airlines plane flew by from east to west) - but at no time did I hear any noise from the object. Based on the slow speed and low altitude of the object I feel confident that many other observations were made in this area.
((NUFORC Note: We spoke with this police officer and found him to be quite credible and convincing. PD)).

UFO spotted among group in Texas A group of friends and I were hanging out in a friend's backyard, when I noticed a light that seemed to be moving. The first few minutes, it seemed to be farther away, so seemed to be moving the way a plane would. As it seemed to get closer and closer, it started getting brighter, and seemed to be pulsing.
As it got closer, I noticed that this object seemed to be hovering, as it was moving from side to side, in circles, etc. There was no kind of noise at all, so I am sure that it was not any plane or helicopter that I know of. One other friend spotted this as well, and we alerted the whole group.
We were all schocked and stared in amazement until the object suddenly shot in one direction and died of the pulsing light.

I was headed for work and was dropping off my trash at the Trash dumpster and looked up and saw a Silver Sphere just hovering. It was a clear blue sky with a few white clouds passing by it. It never moved just hung there motionless.
At first I thought it was a Balloon but it never drifted with the wind. The clouds were moving by it but it never changed position. I watched it for about 5 minutes curious at what it was and even looked for someone else around to show it too but of course no one was there.
What struck me as being unusual is it was a Breezy day but it had no effect on it moving with the wind. I had to continue on to work so I never got to see it leave. It gave me kind of an Eeerie feeling because I felt it was watching me.
If I had a camera and took a photo it would have been just a small silver dot on the photo with little detail. It was shiny and looked silver to me because it did have a glare off it. It basically looked like a Silver Ball hanging in the air.
