Fiery object falling, breaks into 2 pieces, each dart toward opposite horizons. My dad and I were driving down Mines Rd toward the Columbia Bridge on our way to a hunting camp in Mexico. While conversing, a bright fiery object appeared out of nowhere and seemed to be falling.

We asked one another, "Are you seeing that?" After falling for about 7 seconds, it broke into two pieces, darting toward the horizon in opposite directions. To this day we still talk of this event and have no explanation for what was seen. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate.

Summary : I saw a brilliant white ball of lightmoving roughly straight downward very fastprobably about 1 mile away. It disapearedbehind trees. No sound.

I saw this sometime after last Christmas (I washome from Boston University where i graduatedthis May with a BA in psychology) whilestanding on a friend's back porch in Hurst Texas, very near (roughly two miles NW of) the bellhelicopter plant. My friend was with me but did not see it.I noticed it in the western sky.

It was a verybright white ball of light which shot straightdown much faster than i've ever seen anythingshoot straight down. I have no idea how largeit was, but would guess based on theintensity of the light that it was probablyno more than a mile or so away. It disapearedfrom view behind some trees to the west (probablyabout 25 degrees from the horizon where i wasstanding).

I heard no sound during or after seeingit. There was no flash or sound of an explosion, which I would have expected given its speed, trajectory, and apparent proximity when it disapearedfrom view. The sighting lasted no more than a second, but madean impression on me.

I never thought of reportingit until I ran across this web page.I hope it's useful.-((Name and e-mail address deleted))will only be active for another month or two.

The Woodlands, TX

Full Report Text:

Saw bright orange light (size of Venus) with diffuse and changing orange haze 1/2 size of moon around central light. I was in the kitchen of my house in The Woodlands, when an odd light in the sky caught my eye. The light was orange colored.

I at first thought it might be a dim aircraft landing light. The location is within an approach area of Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH). However, the direction which the light followed was not consistent with approach or departure paths for IAH.

I looked at the light through the window and trees, and it seemed to be moving a little erratically as seen through the branches of the pine and hardwoods in the back yard. I grabbed my binoculars and headed outside. Again, the color and intensity of the light was unusual.

the binoculars were handy for watching birds at the feeder. I went to a clear area just behind my house, and observed the light with binoculars and naked (I wear glasses) eye. The object continued moving from the East to a point nearly overhead, before changing direction to the North.

The night was clear, cool (dry), and moonlit. The time just before 10:00 pm. I did not hear any sound related to the object.

I could not estimate the distance to the object. It was not nearby, but could have been any height above, say, 5,000 feet on up to the edge of the atmosphere. I cannot estamte the speed of the object, except to say that it moved from Zenith to Horizon in about 3-4 minutes.

The visual size of the central (bright) part of the object was like observing Venus. The color of the object was a golden orange, similar to a dimmed incandescant lamp, and similar to the orange sodium vapor lamps now in commom use for public lighting. The central part was not flashing, but there were some variations in the brightness.

Although "bright" I would not characterize the light as "intense". Around the center bright orange light, was a diffuse halo, or fog, of the same color as the central light, which would expand and contract, sometimes appearing to swirl around the central light. As the object was moving away from me, the intensity of the central light did not seem to diminish, as it would were it a lamp with reflector.

There was no other light, nor shadow, nor detail observable with the object. It did seem difficult for me to keep a good focus on the object with either my eyes or the binoculars. The light approached from the East, till nearly overhead, then moved off toward the North, visible for perhaps five minutes before going behind trees to the north, and still visible through those trees until obscured by more dense growth and the northern horizon.

This could give some indication of the altitude of the object; were it very high, it should become very small (due to distance) as it nearded the horizon, however, the size did not go very small. Consider a low-flying plane versus one crusing at 35,000 feet as it departs your area. This object appeared more like the low altitude craft as it reached my horizon, even though I could not estimate its height or distance while higher in the sky.

The light moved slightly erattically in speed and direction. It did not make any dramatic changes in direction or speed, but did seem to wander around a bit. After I lost view of the object, I stood there contemplating what it was I maight have seen.

I observed other aircraft approcahing and departing IAH. These craft were easily identifiable with the naked eye, red, green navigation lights, white beacons and landing lights, even lights on in the passenter cabin. It was trivial to make out the outline (shadow) of the shape of overflying aircraft against the backdrop of stars and moonlit atmosphere.

The orange object seen a minute before shared none of these traits. Every other questionable object I have ever seen in the sky finally resolved into something obviously of local origin. except this one.

(end).

Lights appeared above Laredo My family and I were hunting on a lease in South Texas, about 50 miles from Laredo. It was dark and therefor time to go home when I saw my brother and father drive past the turnoff too where we were to be picked up. (I later learned they had been watching the sky as my mother and I soon did.

)We saw several light hovering and darting in quick and sudden bursts. After doing this for some while, the objects assembled in a row and began firing out smaller objects. These objects danced around in a lively manner.

They would dissappear, reappear out of nowhere, spread, reassemble, once they all bunched together and then all dissappeared only to reappear in a bright noiseless burst. It was quite beautiful and I felt as if it were a show. When my brother and faather came and took us too the house all of my other relatives who had been hunting as well reported the exact same story.

La Joya, TX

Full Report Text:

South Texas migrant worker sees "flying disk" while deer hunting. This is kind of old as told to me by my nephew. He was working as a ranchhand with a migrant in Hondo, TX.

The migrant told him of a experience he had while working down in La Joya, TX for a rancher. La Joya is a very small town in a rural area near the Mexican border. One morning he went deer hunting.

As he was sitting in his deer blind he notice a "flying disk" coming from his right view and moving away from him very slowly. It stopped a few hundered feet from the blind and "stood still" a little bit, and then hid behind a small hill covered with brush. He was very excited since he had never seen anything of this sort.

(He was a poor 50ish migrant worker that had never heard of ufos or aliens) He jumped out of the blind and ran over to the area where he thought the disk had hid itself. He found nothing. This went on for the next two days at nearly the same time of the morning.

[ I don't know the exact time but deer hunting is done in the very early morning hours when the sun is just coming up 5am - 9am. ] He never saw where it came from since a blind has only 2 to 3 openings about 3" by 12" on either side. He mentioned to his boss, the ranch owner what he had been seeing.

The next morning to prove his story he invited his boss to go deer hunting with him. As expected the disk flew by the blind and hid behind the same brushy hill. They both got out of the blind.

His boss was scared stiff and white faced. He asked his boss to accompany him to find the disk. He said no and got into his truck and left.

He, the migrant told my nephew this story because the disk reminded him of a plowing disk the type you would see at the end of a plowing tractor. He never mentioned how big or small the disk was other than it flew just a few feet above the brushy ground. He also never mentioned if it made any sounds or if it had any colors or lights.

There aren't to many hills in south Texas and if there are, there're very small. As I mentioned before this story is a little old but I thought it was very interesting. Could ufos or visitors have a "base or landing area" here in this south Texas town.

Hidalgo county is very rural.

This dot of light was moving quite fast and then it stopped and took off 90 degrees from the direction it was traveling First, I would like to say that until a few days ago, I never knew this site existed and now that I have found it, I want to tell my story. This happened many years ago while fishing for catfish one night. I was accompanied by my step-son, who was 15 years old at the time.

In the past, I have been able to spot satellites cross the sky. They are easy to spot during clear skies. Not sure if there was any moon light that night, but the skies were extremely clear, I do remember.

As we do often while fishing and waiting for fish to strike, we try to spot these satellites moving across the sky at night. I spotted one in no time and motioned my son over to look at it.he was impressed at the speed.

Usually, these objects are very small and look like light dots moving quite fast across from one side of the sky to as far as our eyes could see. This "dot" of light was moving consistently with what I have witness a few times before when spotting these satellites. As it moved across, my son and I were tracking it and pointing at it when all of the sudden it stopped and it took off faster than it was moving in the beginning.

90 degrees to our right. This object seemed to stop dead on and took off 90 degrees from the direction it was traveling and it disappeared. Needless to say, we were speechless.

Even though I am a private pilot, I spend every hour of jet flight viewing the earth below. COvered window allowed spotting overtaking triangular craft. This occurred, most likely, a few days after Halloween of 1996.

Verification easy to obtain. This was an identifiable flight, as the pilot's seat was replaced at maybe 1 a.m.

in a delayed stopover` at Reno from San Francisco where I departed. Wile I am an old private pilot, I still can't resist covering my head so I can stare out the window and watch the earth pass below. The city we were passing appeared to be very large and moving off to our left, northern, side at an angle of maybe 30 degrees.

The subject craft appeared in silhouette below and just far enough out from us for me to spot it from a passenger window. It was an EQUILATERAL triangle with NO protrusions of nose, canard, tailfin, fuselage or jet tube. There were no lights of any kind and it appeared totally black.

It overtook us rapidly. My guess is that it was 500 feet below us and the equilateral edges were maybe 60 feet or more per edge. I reasoned that we were doing 580 or so and it was moving past at 100 kts faster.

The time it was in my view, as the city lights did not extend but maybe half way, was maybe three or four seconds. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date of the incident is approximate. PD)).

An on-duty security officer at a major hospital went outdoors to patrol the parking lot from 0200 to 0300 hrs. At about 0215 hrs., he estimates, he saw a peculiar blue light, which he estimated to be about 100 yards from his location.

It was visible between two trees. He jumped out of his truck, ran into the parking lot, and he got a better look at the object. It was a blue light, moving very slowly, approximately 100 feet above the ground.

It was moving from his left to right. The moon was out at the time. The object moved in front of a cloud, so it was silhouetted against the light colored cloud, at which point the observer could see its shape.

It was distinctly square in shape. The observer described the object as looking like a "coffee table (round?) with a smaller rectangular box on top--like a shirt box." Box was about 1/3 the size (diameter?) of the round part.

The object then moved away from him, the observer estimating that it may have moved approximately 1/4 mile in one second. It then hovered for a short period of time, then it streaked toward the observer, coming within 100 feet of his position, this time, and still about 100 feet in the air. The object then moved to the left, then the right, moving "like a bug in the wind--erratically.

" The object flew over the tope of the hospital and disappeared from the observer's sight.

Driving down busy street at night, quarter of mile or so, thought we saw several helicopters in sky. Drove right up to it and under it. Got out of van and discussed what we were seeing.

Huge diamond shape with brightest strobing white lights I had ever seen, very low to ground, hovering over neighborhood, no sound. Clearly saw underneath writing or something all under. Airplane came and ufo streaked off .

Estimated to be 150ftx150ft. , this may be vast underestimation. No reports.

No radar. It was huge. We had plenty of time to examine it.

I am a believer and have had one other encounter of disconnected balls of lights examining the car I was in with 3 other people. My mother on the other hand is a devout disbeliever. My sanity is intact because she was with me.

The object appeared to be charcoal gray, square or diamond shaped with blinding white strobe lights at the points. No other colors were observed. There was a distinct writing or something underneath in circles that covered the bottom.

When we first saw it it was traveling east to west seemingly down a busy street. It got off the street and turned north and just stopped as if to let us look at it. It just hovered over a populated neighborhood not doing anything.

It seemed to be about 50 ft. above the houses, very low. It was huge.

We discussed wondering how such a thing could fly. From the direction of the airport (east) we saw a very fast flying airplane coming our way. The thing took off at a high rate of speed north and we gave chase along with the airplane.

We kept it in sight for another 6 miles and then lost it. I called the airport to ask if anything had been reported and they said no. I have searched everywhere and cannot find a picture of this thing and wonder if anyone else has seen this particular one.

It took so long to report because I didn't know where and got my computer for Christmas.

Bonham, TX

Full Report Text:

Crash evidence/aftermath seen and multiple reports heard from callers into morning radio program - then nothing. On or about Oct 15, 1996, (date known because morning radio was talking about the birth of Madonna’s daughter), at around 5-6am callers in to the station started reporting an explosion over an area from southern Oklahoma to the Dallas area. Many of the callers reported seeing the object before the explosion –-but I don’t remember their descriptions.

One of the callers, though, identified himself as a police officer. I do not remember if he was city or county or state. He described a crash zone and said the object was definitely NOT a plane or helicopter.

He was adamant that it was a UFO and that it “WOULD NOT be swept under the rug this time.” I was listening while getting ready for school during all this and left home just after sunrise. I lived in Bonham, Texas, about 80 miles nne of Dallas.

As I walked out the door, I say a LARGE, very WIDE – what I would describe as a contrail, stretching north to south basically directly over my home. To put in perspective, if you would consider your perception of a typical contrail as looking 3-4mm wide, this one appeared to be 5-6 inches wide. North Texas is a fairly flat landscape, and I could see this trail stretch from horizon to horizon.

To the east – just a little to the left of the sunrise and at about 55-65°up – completely separate from the contrail - was an unusual formation. It was VERY similar to the Challenger explosion. Had 3 short trails jetting out from a central point.

It was stationary and did not change shape or location in the 15 or so minutes I watched it. It was a still windless morning. The calls kept coming in the duration of my drive to school – about 45 minutes.

I went to my classes, got out around 2pm, went to my job, and got home about 9PM. NEVER heard another thing about it. Nothing on the news.

Nothing on the radio. No more word from the police officer. Can’t even find other reports of it online.

Nothing. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date above is approximate. PD)) ((ADDENDUM FROM WITNESS)) Oh wow - no I don't.

It was a station based in Dallas/Ft Worth and a pop station that had mainly morning talk geared to teens/early 20s cried typical of those stations ya know - celebrity news, lots of jokes, prank calls, etc. Sorry I don't remember. I haven't lived in Dallas in a long time and googling current stations there doesn't ring any bells It would've been a station with a strong enough signal to be clear 80+ miles out if that helps at all.

Sorry I'm not much help. I'm just hoping ANYONE else will eventually report on this somewhere. I've looked often over the years - but nothing so far.

Please do let me know if you run across anything. Thanks! ((END ADDENDUM)).

It was floating right above the tree tops over the houses about 75 feet from the tops os the houses. I was driving in the area of the Mountain neighborhood when I saw it in the diatance. It came slowly along the path of the street and I pulled over to stop.

How can something that size stay in the air when it's going so slow? I was going about 25 mph on those winding roads and it was going slower than me. We saw a huge diamond shaped object hovering over us. It was a Monday evening in October of 1996, I'm unsure of the exact date. My mother(a complete non-believer) and I were traveling east on a major street in town when we saw just ahead, a little beyond the next intersection what looked like several helicopters flying very low, coming toward us.

We discussed the flying machines and decided the white lights which were strobing were much too bright for helicopters. Just then, two blocks past the intersection, we were right under it. I turned on the side street and we got out of the car.

The diamond or square shaped as we decided object was just hovering in the sky with no noise. With every observation I made I asked mother if she agreed and she did. This thing was huge approximately 600 feet in all directions.

We were underneath and could see the apparent color charcoal. We estimated it was no more than 100 feet above the ground and the lights were at the corners. We could also see individual squares marked off on the underneath side with carvings or writings of some kind we could not identify.

Some time later I saw a celtic cross and thought the artwork was the same or very similar. We just stood under it discussing it, mesmerized. Mainly we talked about its size.

A few minutes into it we saw and heard a jet coming down the same main street toward us. At almost the same time we spotted the jet, the big craft took off in a northwesterly direction being chased by the jet. I don't know why but we still stood there watching until they were almost out of sight unable to move.

Finally we jumped in the car and gave chase but never saw either again.

2 orange fireballs moving across sky ~ crazy acrobatics This happened many years ago, but I still remember it clearly. I was sitting outside my house in The Woodlands, talking to my boyfriend. It was a nice warm, cloudless night.

Two orangish amber colored fireballs appeared on the east side of the sky, moving west at a relatively slow pace. These objects seemed to be VERY close-by but I have no way to say how close. They made no noise.

They were at least as big as a half-dollar if you hold it at arm's length. They had an erratic, shaking look to them as they moved directly south of us. They then stopped and stayed hovering in the air.

Their shakiness stopped and they were completely frozen. One was slightly lower in the sky than the other. It was very hard to discern what they were.

They had a multifaceted look to them, much like reflectors from a bicycle wheel or something. They seemed very flat it was hard to make out any actual 3D form to them. Then, after sitting there about 5 seconds, they suddenly shifted very quickly in the sky so that the lower one was now higher and the once-higher one was now lower.

It is very difficult to explain in a narrative. They froze again, shifted back to their ori! ginal positions. They hung for another few seconds and then suddenly accelerated into the stars almost too fast for the eyes to follow.

Almost like how a shooting star is almost too fast to see, so these were gone in an instant. I can say with certainty that they went UP. I have a masters degree in psychology, I have taken astronomy in college.

I have lived near air force and other military bases. I have a very rational mind and I have no idea what I saw that night. I know that this is quite the claim to make but I swear that it happened ((NUFORC Note: Source of report indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate.

constantly changing nebulous-shaped object flying disturbingly fast at the moment of a full lunar eclipse I have been looking for cases similar to this and didn't have any luck until I found your reporting site due to reading an AP article. Your site has several listings that are very close to this and it is interesting that no one seems to have a clue what it is. The following description was originally posted on my own website (www.

danafrostick.com) about 4 years after the event occurance and was updated as noted on 3/22/2002: ufo in breckenridge, texas? On the night of a full lunar eclipse in the autumn of 1996, my future husband and I were stopped at a small roadside motel for a rest in our Southwestern journey. We enjoyed dinner and went to our room.

We had been able to watch the progress of the lunar eclipse as we ate our food and we were anxious to get the binoculars out to watch its culmination from the parking lot. The parking lot was adequately lit for security, but it didn't diminish the light from the full moon as it gradually went a bloody brownish color. The motel itself was the only establishment on the road for at least a mile or so.

There was nothing on either side of the hotel or the other side of the highway except desert. We were leaning against our rental convertible, passing the binoculars back and forth as the moment of full eclipse approached. Only the thinnist sliver of reflected light was left showing as we both appreciated this natural phenomenom above the roof of the adjoining motel rooms.

Suddenly, motion just below the moon caught my eye. I turned my head to the right to follow it and briefly saw the object as it flew off at a disturbing speed. What I saw doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard described before.

Likewise, my husbands's description is unique, but only shares a few similarities with what I saw. We both saw something, because, I turned and looked at him and he said, "Did you see that?" My description: The first view I had was only a glimpse of motion. When I turned my head I saw for just an instant what can only be described as a net of dim stars.

It was a loosely structured object with a network of greyish "lines" which were actually various series of points. This grid structure was moving in all directions at once in an undulating fashion. It reminded me of watching a fisherman's net being tossed around in the waves, or an amoeba floating around on a speciman slide.

Even though it didn't seem to have a method of propulsion, it was flying too fast for my eyes to follow it as it crossed the highway and headed out into the desert night. My husband's description: He only got one glimpse of it as it passed underneath the moon. He saw what he called a gigantic skeletal bird, flapping its wings.

At first, this doesn't sound like it could be the same object I saw. But, it is similar in that large sections of the object were moving, and that there was not much mass to the object, but a lot of empty space in it. Skeptics answer: This was obviously a flock of birds flying low over the hotel.

Even though I've never seen birds fly so fast that I couldn't keep up with them visually for at least 3 or 4 seconds. And, there was absolutely no sound. Then it must have been some piece of debris flying in the wind.

Even though it was a still and completely cloudless night. Written: 9/25/00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Updated: 3/2/2002 I was watching a show on TV last month, called "You've Got To See It To Believe It," and I saw this really weird piece about something people are calling rods. It really freaked me out because it reminded me of the description that Richard gave of this incident.

I went online and sluthed out a website about the rods called www.roswellrods.com and showed it to him when he came home.

He told me that the rods looked like the object he saw that night in Breckenridge. They really do look real, but I can't convince myself that they actually exist. I'm thinking about setting up a video camera and maybe even a digital camera and doing some skyfishing on my own.

((NUFORC Note: The date of the reported incident is correct. A total eclipse of the Moon occurred on the evening of September 26, 1996. PD)).

I am a high school graduate(1976) and one of my favorite classes in high school was Astro-science. My high school had a planetarium built into it and it was always an interesting experience to look forward to everyday.

I had an interest in space and always watched televised NASA events. In december of 1995, I finally broke down and bought a 4.5 reflector telescope from a department store.

I suddenly became an avid sky-watcher. I bought software to show me where the planets were and started a sketckbook to draw the planets as I was seeing them through my telescope at certain times. I would write the times and dates below the sketches.

I was lucky enough to see comets Hyakutake and Hale-Bopp and a couple of lunar eclipses which I added to my sketchbook. I could point out Jupiter and Saturn and sometimes Mars with my naked eye as well as star clusters such as the Pleiades and nebulas like the one in Orion to friends and co-workers. As I became more aware of just how immense our universe is, my interest in U.

F.O.s came to the forefront.

I read many books of sightings and have amassed a library of video tapes and books on the phenomena. I was wishing to see one for myself. On Sept.

13,1996 I got my chance. At that time in my life, I was delivering pizza for a living and my sighting happened while on a run. I added it to my sketchbook 2 days after I saw it.

It is from these notes and my recollection that I now relay the information to you. It happened in the southern-most part of Austin near the intersection of Slaughter and Manchaca. I was driving east on Slaughter lane and crossed Manchaca road and made a right turn onto Bilbrook.

Now facing south, I looked in the sky for Jupiter, but the sky just was not quite dark enough to see it yet. I made another quick right turn onto Slaughter Creek drive, a long dead-end road which is where the delivery was going to. Now I was facing west and I saw a bright headlight up in the air and not all that high.

I assumed it was a Cessna airplane which I had seen flying in the area before as there is a farmer on Slaughter lane that has his own dirt airstrip and I had seen him flying many times. The light was coming toward me, flying east as I was headed west. As the space between us narrowed, I became aware that it was not the Cessna that I thought it was and I could not identify what kind of plane it was.

It was then that I saw that it was a triangle. Curious, I pulled to the side of the road and looked up through my windshield at the thing. "What is that?" I said out loud.

It was flying slowly and low. I could not take my eyes off it. "How can that be flying?" I said outloud again.

With my car still running, I stepped out of my car and just watched this thing glide overhead. It was after sunset but the sky was not quite dark yet. I became aware that this was my U.

F.O. I did not know what it was, how it could be flying,it was to me an unidentified flying object.

It was a dark (possibly black) triangle, the trailing edge being a little shorter than the other two with the bright headlight being at the front point. There was a revolving red light on the bottom encased in a glass dome and I remember thinking of a fire engine light. There were two or three other smaller white lights on the bottom shining straight down but they were not that bright.

It was heading to the east, parallel with Slaughter Ln. at about 45-50 m.p.

h.and there was no noise coming from it that I could hear. It was approximatly 100 yds.

to my south and approximatly 300 yds. up. As it flew past, and as I was now looking at the rear of it, I could see a pair of small stabilizer wings on the top of the rear section just like a F-117 Stealth Fighter has.

I looked at my watch, and even though I did not make a note of the exact time, I now know it was very near 8:30 p.m. I stood there and watched it slowly glide away over the nearby roofs of a neighborhood until I could no longer see it.

I got back in my car and made the delivery and contemplated what I had seen. I was familiar with most planes but I never heard of one that flied so slowly without sound. I thought it might be a Stealth Fighter because it was about the same size, but the shape was not right.

An F-117 is triangular, but not a triangle. From my vantage point, it appeared to be a flat triangle gliding through the air. There were no navigation lights (red on the left, green on the right) although, I could not see the entire right side.

I wanted to tell my friends when I got back to the store but I did not. I always thought if I ever saw a flying saucer, I would tell everyone that they are real. Now I understood why people hesitate or just keep it to themselves.

I hope I have given you enough information to help out in some way. I never reported it and was kind of scared to tell anyone for a while. When I finally showed my sketch of the object and the notes I wrote to one of my friends, he kind of looked at me strange.

I know he did not think I was lying, and it seems to me that he thinks I was mistaken about what I saw. But it was completly unknown to me. The only reason that I do not think it was "alien" , is because of the revolving red light on the bottom and the stabilizer wings on the rear.

But still, I was pretty exited and I am glad that now I can tell you about it. Thank you.
