Awoke after being asleep for an hour or so to a light coming from another part of the house. I lay very still while witnessing the light move closer and what appeared in the doorway was a very bright, iluminated sphere. I can only characterize movement as being suspended, yet bobbing about in an almost fluid motion.
It came close, then raced upward and directly shot out of the window. My husband witnessed this thing, but refuses to ever dicuss it. Even denies it took place.
Went to bed after a normal workday and fell asleep. An hour or so later I awoke and noticed a light coming from another room. I instantly was aware that it could not be a light inadvertantly left on as it had a distictive illuminating glow about it.
For reasons unknown to myself, i instinctively had the impression that "it was coming". I lay completely still as this light became brighter as it moved closer to the bedroom door. In the doorway appeared an extremely bright illuminated spere.
This thing had the color of something so bright that it was almost bluish. It remained bobbing in the doorway a short while, then moved directly over me, moved from over my head to my feet staying up near the ceiling as it did so. It then moved directly over my abdomin and descended slowly until it was inches, I mean inches, from my stomach.
It then bobbed there for thirty or forty seconds, then slowly rose to about two or three feet above me. I then realized my husband was sound asleep during all of this and tried to awaken him. I was being subtle as I was afraid that too much motion would disturb this bobbing orb above me.
He finally awoke and I thought he was going to have a seizure. At the point of his gasping, this thing rose quickly raced out of the window. At this point we both jumped to the window to see where this thing went, but it was nowhere to be seen.
My husband was completely shaken by this event and over time has decided it didn't happen. I, myself, have been timid about mentioning it to anyone because i do not wish to be percieved as some kind person needing psychiatric attention. I do so now because I have always been perplexed by this, but have never heard of anyone experiencing something like this.
I hope that at least by reporting it now, someone with similar experiences can be assured that they are not delusional. I do not know if this was a UFO or not, but people mentioning seeing illuminated spheres have prompted me to report this.I have seen th! em on and off for years at a distance, I only want to add that they do not seem mechanical at all, more like something alive, with presence.
Please feel free to toss this out if it does not fit with your forum here, as I am not sure what forum in which it does belong.

We saw a cigar-shaped, craft with pulsating green, red, and yellow lights that defied normal earthly aircraft movements. My brother and I were looking at the western sky on a warm, night in late July, 1983. We saw an object that at first looked like a plane.
But, the lights on this object were NOT blinking on and off. Instead, they were pulsating in different colors of green, red, and yellow. There were three or four solid round color patterns of green, red, and yellow that seemed to pulsate as they traveled around the craft in a circle while it flew from south to north.
It would move very slowly before speeding up and slowing again performing maneuvers unlike any aircraft I've ever seen. We (my brother and I) got into the car to go get completely away from the city lights, and we were able to keep track of it from the car, but lost sight of it about ten or fifteen minutes from the initial sighting. It was as close as an airplane, but made no sound.
It definitely did not move like any known earthlike aircraft I have ever seen. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate. PD)).

UFO cloud/Hollowgram seen over Dallas Texas in the 1980's It was around the middle of summer in the early 1980's. I don't know the exact date because I was only around 12 years old at the time. I was in the family room watching TV with a few other family members which included my father.
My older brother was out in front of the house trying to make time with his girlfriend. He saw something in the sky and came running into the house to tell my father to come have a look. Being a big fan of Star Wars and Close encounters at that time I wasn't going to miss a chance to see something that maybe out of this world.
We grew up down the street from a Dallas navel base. To this day my brother clams that it was directly over the base. I remember it being directly over the house.
What we saw was not a disk or craft of any kind. It wasn't scary to me at the time but has become so, as I have still to this day never even heard of anything like this being viewed by any other UFO observer. It was a cloud that had the center of it's mass erased.
In the center was a series of neon blue lines that changed every 5 seconds or so. First look it was parallel blue lines. Then the lines would change direction.
Reverb and change into something like dots. Then wavy lines and continued to do this kind of thing for about 5 to 6 minutes. It looked like a TV that was having trouble getting a signal.
As if this cloud was one big hallow gram that was having trouble getting the center portion to work. By this time a crowd of about 10 people where standing in the front yard looking up at this thing. At first I thought it was a blimp.
I know that blimps have display screens but at the time couldn't do this kind of thing. I stayed in the front yard looking up for the next 2 1/2 hours thinking I'd see a blimp exit the clouds. Nothing! No noise, No craft, No blimp! I lived with my parents in the house from 1971 to 1993.
I've never seen a blimp that large Nor have I seen one in the area because of the naval base being so close (4 Miles). I've been pouring over the UFO web sites to ! try and see if anyone has heard of or seen anything like what I've described. I've had no luck at all.
I do have witnesses of the event. This includes 2 of my brothers, A sister and my father.I'm 37 now and It would be great to talk to others that may have seen something like this.
Was it a signal from something related to the naval base? This is something both my father and older brother offered as a possible explanation. ((NUFORC Note: Source of report indicates that the date of the incident is approximate. PD)).

July 4th, 1983: disk shaped object with colored lights over Southeast Texas I've never talked of this with anyone outside my family. I didn't want folks to think I was a nut or something. But, I've never forgotten what happened the July 4th weekend in 1983.
I was in junior high. We were having our annual family reunion that weekend. It was the girls turn to camp out in the backyard.
I'd never slept on the ground before. So, I couldn't sleep, but my cousins sure could. Anyway, after awhile lying awake in the tent, I heard a low droning sound.
Sort of like a low droning hum. Had I been asleep I probably would not have heard it. I got up and went outside of the tent and looking up through the young pine tree (I wasn't coming out from under it) and above dad's storage barn, I saw an object just above the larger trees.
It was disk shaped and had colored lights on the bottom. It wasn't moving very fast. Going back into the tent I tried to wake my cousins, without sucess.
I went back outside the tent and watched the object move slow and steady in a ENE direction. I went back into the tent obviously scared and was finally able to waken my cousins. They had no idea what I was trying to tell them.
I know I must have scared them too because I remember us all running toward my grandmother's mobile home (she lived behind our house then). But, my mother met us at the back door of our house. The electricity went out and we ran as fast as we could to get inside.
The lights were out only a few minutes. Needless to say we all slept on the floor inside after that. It has bothered me that I was the only one to see it.
Since that night when I've asked my mother what woke her up, she always say the she just got up and the lights went out and she knew she needed to open the door for us. I've never reported this to any organization or any person outside my family. But, I'll always be curious about what I saw that night and wonder if there will ever be an explanation.

300-400 foot boomerang-shaped object moving at 200 mph?, one-half mile distant at about 2,000 ft altitude. Clear skies, daytime. This sighting occurred in June 1983 in Borger, Texas.
I had not reported this earlier because at the time it occurred I had no corroborating witnesses, no photographs, essentially nothing to substantiate the claim. I doubted that anyone would have believed what I saw at the time. However, this sighting stays in the back of my mind, so I am reporting it, if for no other reason, than to have closure.
The sighting occurred about 17:30 (Local Time, Central Time Zone) in June 1983. I was in my residence and heard what I thought was a really, really, loud jet. It was so loud that I stepped out on my front porch to see what it was.
I looked up and the object was probably one-half mile away at an altitude of probably two thousand feet. (These are only estimations.) It was huge.
I had a pair of 10 X 35 binoculars in the living room, so I quickly stepped back inside and grabbed the binoculars. By that time the object was receding, so I might have been better off not using the binoculars. I remember the object filled the binocular’s field of view, which at the time made me wonder just how big this thing actually was.
What I saw was a large black boomerang-shaped object, moving from east to west. It was travelling at a modest speed, maybe 200 miles per hour (again, it’s hard to estimate something in the sky without reference points.) I remember as I looked at the object, there were three specific things that struck me.
The first was the size…I can only guess that it was 300-400 feet side-to-side and maybe 75-125 feet front-to-back. The second was the tremendous noise the object made. It was LOUD.
And, third, the fact that the object was lopsided; that is to say it was asymmetrical. I wondered how it stayed in the air…it didn’t look aerodynamic. I think another reason I never reported this is the fact that it sounded like a really large jet.
Maybe it was…if so, it was like nothing I had seen before and have not seen since. The jet sound made me think it was a conventional aircraft, but the shape and the size made me think it was something beyond classification. I did not notice any exhaust or smoke behind the craft.
Since then I have seen video of the A1 bomber and other stealth aircraft. On one occasion I saw an A1 pass directly overhead. Believe me, the thing I saw in 1983 makes the A1 look like a toy.
By definition, what I saw was a UFO, because it was not identified, it was flying and it was an object. Whether it was of terrestrial origin or somewhere else, I don’t know I wish I did. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date is approximate.

Sightings in Crosby in the 80's A time in I believe 1983, my mother and I were coming home about 8pm and turned off Hwy 90 just east of Crosby and noticed something thru the trees over a field of a local grass farm. We drove and cleared the trees and saw what I described as an orange football shaped object, maybe 20 ft across, just hanging in the air above the field, perhaps 100 yards above the field. There were no other lights or sounds, just there.
I should note that Mom described the object as red. There was a white Vega that had stopped in the road ahead of us and the driver had stopped his car, got out and was standing by his car just looking at it. I pulled in behind him and did the same, stopping the car and turning our lights out, just looking at the object.
As if someone had turned off a switch, the object disappeared, again no sound or movement. The guy in the Vega stood there for a minute and came back to my car and asked if I had seen the object, I said yes, he said "good", then left. Mom claimed to have heard and seen wind after the object vanished but to be honest I didn't.
There were quite a few "sightings" of things we couldn't explain by family and friends during about a 3 year period during those early 1980's, then they suddenly stopped and we never saw anything unusual. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate. PD)).

A red and orange ball of light above the trees. A single orange and red ball in the sky was seen by two other friends, my brother and me, while walking up the road returning from fishing in the evening. It appeared to be about the same brilliance and color of a road flare, producing a consistent discharge of flickering light.
The thing just sort rose up from behind the trees or maybe off the horizon but it seemed close (approx 100 meters). It was silent and kind of danced around in a slight ‘zig zag’ pattern bobbing up and down to the right before changing direction left, then leveling to a straight line and blinking out. It was at what seemed about tree top level in altitude but it was really hard to determine.
It was strange looking at it. Judging the true distance and altitude was kind of tough because it looked unreal, literally, like ionized gas, or a hologram. I don’t suppose this is relevant but we were all engaged in very a heated debate discussing the possibility of intelligent life originating elsewhere and the chances of its traveling here, two on one side, one taking a more neutral stance and one the opposite, shouting religious and scientific contentions to support one or rebut the other.
At least one other witness can corroborate and the other two probably would if they could be located; although one was stating disbelief in the whole UFO phenomenon at the time of the encounter. Despite that strange irony I to this day state, that the object remains simply unidentified. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate.

South Texas non illuminating ball of fire When I was a young boy I lived in a very small town in South Texas, Tilden, TX. I as well as two other immediate family members have very clear memories of an event that occurred one night. I don't remember the exact date but I know, as well as I know my own name, that it was the night the very last episode of M.
A.S.H.
aired I think it was 1983-84 something like that. We moved to Tilden from San Antonio because my mother was the personal assistant for a Texas oil man. He had some 2000 acres just outside Tilden and wanted to get out of the city.
He built three houses all on virgin land on his ranch. The houses were about 40 -50 yards apart one was for his parents, one for the pilot, and the other for our family. My dad was in the air force and stationed in Korea at the time so being the typical air force brat I had a fascination with all aircraft.
The pilot, always kept the jet ranger close by the three houses incase one of us kids were to get struck by a snake. My mothers boss had 3 kids, the pilot had 2, and my mother had 2 and being virgin South Texas land it was not uncommon to wakeup with Rattle Snakes on the door steps keeping warm on the concrete. The night I am referring to my mother's boss and the pilot had been using the Bell to help herd some cattle that day and had not come home when Mash started.
Just as Mash was ending my German Sheppard, Joy, started howling and crying like I've never heard a dog do before or since. She ran wildly around the living room and would run to the back door then back to the couch. Joy would normally get upset when the bramas would come close to the house or when an illegal would come up to the house looking for work.
However this was different she literally went crazy. She stopped running around and went to the sliding glass door and bared her teeth starring out the door snarling like she was possessed. Did I mention that she was a puppy maybe 8 months old.
She had never done this before and was disturbing us so I went to the door to get her and calm her down when I saw what she was going on about The scrub brush had been cleared probably 200 yards in any direction around the houses when they were built and directly behind ours was a ball of fire. That is the only way I can describe it. It was difficult to register the dimensions of the thing but I am sure it had to be at least 60 yards in diameter it looked huge.
It was perfectly round and appeared to be on fire. NO windows or little green men coming out, it was simply hovering a few feet off the ground. What was strange, as if that was not strange in its self, it was very bright and had red, yellow, and orange colors to it and pulsated but it cast NO light.
What I mean is it did not cast shadows or light up the area around it. You could only barely make out the ground just below it. I stood there for 2 or 3 minutes trying to get my mother and sister to come look at this thing and when my mother saw it she started to panic and rushed us in to the back bedroom and forced Joy to come as well.
We probably stayed in the bedroom for 20 minutes when we heard the pilot coming in with the Jet Ranger. The next day I told the pilot what we had seen and asked if he saw anything, of course I was met with a disbelieving attitude and he said he did not see a thing. No one saw it but us, not the pilot’s family nor my mothers bosses.
I am a college educated professional businessman, in fact I minored in philosophy and consider myself a very rational person. I know what I saw and gave up a very long time ago on trying to get people to believe this story no matter how very true it is. I am not a UFO buff but I know there is something unexplained out there and it does fly.
I have however never heard of any sighting that can be described as a huge ball of fire and was wondering if you have. I have heard of the Marfa lights and always thought maybe this was one. Curious, ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the event is approximate.
PD)).

Several unexplained incidents reported by family and friends in Crosby Texas during the early 80's. This ocurred in about 1982, I was coming home late one nite and saw what I thought was a shooting star, then realized I could see the trail of the flames behind the object. It was flying parallel to the ground when I saw it.
I drove another few miles on Hwy 90 east of Crosby and turned onto a road heading north and saw three objects "floating" over the area. I drove past a bank of trees and saw that the three objects were helicopters and they appeared to be looking for the object I watched for a while and it appeared they found what they were looking for and landed. Another time in I believe 1983, my mother and I were coming home about 8pm and turned off Hwy 90 just east of Crosby and noticed something thru the trees over a field of a local grass farm.
