Large Bright Blue Ball of light at very low altitude. My friends and I, all about 10 or 11 years old played a game where we hid from car headlights. We saw what at first we thought was headlights from a car shining on the surrounding buildings.

Thinking it was car headlights (in our game)we turned quickly to see which direction it was coming from so that we could dodge the lights. We did see one car on a distant road, but it's lights were not pointing in our direction. Suddenly, a bright blue "fireball" (for lack of a better word) streaked across the sky.

It had no distinct shape that we could recall, only a big blue ball of bright light. It could not have been more than 1000ft in the air above us and had a deafening roar. The event lasted no more than a few seconds as it roared across the sky.

I would say from east to west. I had seen meteors by that age and knew it was not a meteor. This was a very intense light and was not from something burning up.

It was a very brilliant light. I am not sure that it left any sort of trail, but I believe it did not. The event was reprted on the local news the that evening and UFO enthusiasts were out the next evening searching the skies with spotlights and such.

I also remember that some car horns went off as it went by and someone talking of their car dying when it happened.

went outside & in night sky looking east{est.} saw 15 to 25 objects looked like stars appeared same distance as stars, but brighter than other stars. they moved in a very nice fluid formation side to side up & down for approximately 30 min.

I was 16 or 17, am now 43. I was visiting a friend, {I could probably now locate} in Lago Vista, Tx. His father sold land at this resort community on lake Travis near Austin, Tx.

We had gone to visit a couple of permanent residents They were brothers about our age. We stepped outside, & I forget who first noticed. But maybe looking toward the East at approx.

75 to 85 degrees from horizon, we saw 15 to 25 objects at first star like in appearance, also seemed to be at the same distance to us as the stars. Upon closer examination these objects were moving, side to side{appox, 40 degrees either way} & up and down. Their movement seemed nice & fluid sometimes in a flying wing then changing direction & slowly fitting back into a flying wing.

They did not seem to be flying very fast but if our perceptions of distance were anywhere near accurate they had to be going astronomically fast. Their changing directions often, yet staying in a certain grid seemed to make no sense either. One of the brothers went in to get their parents, they came out & watched with us, and to the best of my recollection we all described seeing the same thing.

I think one of the parents went in to call some sort of authority. We watched for quite a while 30 minutes maybe more, honestly do not remember if they stopped or we went on to something else as this was very strange, but not threatening in anyway. I did not keep track of the Brothers or their parents, but their parent were solid middle class or better judging by their house and area of residence.

I have told very few people about this maybe a few ex-wives, but I did run into that old friend about 10 years ago. Seems like his car had broke down or maybe mine but we spent some time together. & we did after a bit of time sort of go over this incident we shared, He also said he had not told to many people.

I am just now reporting this as before a day or 2 ago had no idea who to report to. Hope this helps in your research, also hope someday I find out what it was.

This is about a craft with a circular beam of light that could penetrate through a roof and ceilng of a house. I was at my cousin's wedding in 1977 when my uncle came up to me and said he had a story to tell me. He said he wanted to tell me because I was a scientist (actually an archaeologist).

He said he had been visiting our family lawyer who had been a judge for many years, in his hospital room a few weeks before he died. The judge told my uncle that he wanted to tell him something he had never told anybody because of the sensitive nature of the story and his being a past judge and lawyer. He said he was out dove hunting in the woods with his wife and two friends just before sunset.

He said all of a sudden a large circular shaped object about 60 ' in diameter came over them. They got scared and got in their jeep and started back to the ranch house. A cylinder of light came down from the craft that was the same in diameter as the UFO and followed them all the way back to the house.

They never left the circle of light. Once they arrived at the house, they jumped f! rom the jeep and ran inside. The craft then came directly over the house.

The light was so intense, it actually came through the roof and ceiling of the house and into the room where they stood. It hovered over the house for some minutes and then went away. The reason for finally telling this story is that there was no reason for my uncle to lie (he didn't drink at this time), and certainly there was no reason for the judge to make up such a story on his deathbed.

I just thought some one should hear this story. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate. PD)).

Daylight sighting of an oval shaped lighted phenomena appears and reappears several times I was sitting in my 7th grade math class at Riley Jr. High (now Martin Luther King jr. High) listening to, along with the rest of the class, the teacher's lecture.

It was a morning class, and I believe it was about 10:30 am. I was sitting by the window and happened to look out toward the east (about 30 degrees to my right) and saw an odd lighted shape, sort of like the left half of a lighted oval, at about 20 degrees above the horizon. Toward the east is an area with a few houses and about a half mile of heavily wooded and at the time undeveloped land on either side of Salado Creek (the creek was about a quarter mile to the east of the school and runs north to south ).

That land currently contains Martin Luther King Park. It was a largely clear day, but it seemed as though the lighted oval was behind a patch of cloud. This shaped did not appear to be a solid object.

There was no noise associated with this sighting. There was no noise associated with this sighting and I do not recall seeing or hearing any other aircraft in the area. While trying to figure out what this shape was, the shape faded away.

A few seconds later, the shape reappeared slightly to the right and above the first location. This time it was brighter, with a distinct symmetrical oval shape to the phenomena, and bright white in the interior. In the middle of this oval was what looked like a thin bright horizontal line, much like a filament in a light bulb, which was centered in the oval and taking up about half the horizontal dimension of this oval.

This central filament type light was bright, but not painful to look at. At this point, there was no question in my mind that I was seeing something that was unlike any aircraft that I had ever seen. San Antonio in 1971 had substantial Vietnam related military flight activity from Ft.

Sam Houston, Randolph AFB, and Kelly AFB, especially the frequent low level helicopter flights of UH-1 Huey helicopters. Whatever I was looking at was nothing like any military or civilian aircraft I have seen either before or since (as an adult, I became a licensed pilot and was an Air Force flight test engineer). As I was about to get the attention of the classmate sitting in front of me it faded out once more.

It came into view a third time, again slightly above and to the left of the previous appearance. Like the first view, it appeared to be behind some kind of mist or light cloud and was only partially visible, with the left and top part of the shape being visible. The bright filament was not visible, and this time I could see what looked like a very small reddish tapered dome on top.

The tapered dome was relatively small, roughly one tenth the width of the full oval and about one fifth the thickness of the main oval. After a few seconds, it faded away again. I looked all around the sky for it and about ten seconds later saw almost directly overhead a white light fade in an out of view twice.

It did so at a rate roughly the same as the interval between the first three sightings of the phenomena. However, these last two were more points of light and I could not discern any shape to it. The entire sighting lasted roughly one minute.

I took a fair bit of ridicule about this whenever I mentioned it, so I kept quiet about it. About two years later when I was in high school, a classmate (who I had never told about my sighting) related a story about some odd phenomena he saw one night in the same general part of town near Salado Creek. When I asked him to explain how it looked, he described the oval shape and the filament type light in the middle.

I could not tell from his description if it was exactly the same phenomena I had observed. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate. PD)).

9 round red objects spotted over Laredo, TX in 1971 I retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1971 and started working part-time for the Kroger grocery chain in Laredo, Tx.

On approximately August 17, 1971, I was attending a Union meeting at a local motel and was asked by the Union rep. if I and another worker would go across the river to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and pick up a couple of bottles of liqour for the group. My friend and I left, crossed the border and approached a place where he said we could get the best prices.

As we were pulling up to park, I noticed people on the street (women and children) looking up at the sky. When we alit from the car we both looked toward the West where everyone was looking and was startled to see 4 large round red circles hovering just above the horizon. It was approximately 18:30 hours and the sun was just starting to set, so there was still plenty of daylight.

As we watched, I started looking in other directions and discovered another 5 of the same objects coming from the North (from the direction of Laredo, TX). They approached the other 4 slowly and then grouped together and then started to get smaller. They kept getting smaller until they completely diappeared.

I don't know if they were moving away from us or if they just got smaller until they disappeared. Laredo Air Force Base was still there at the time and I thought of calling the base when we returned to Laredo, but then decided not to because I figured the lines would be jammed with calls. To my astonishment the next day, not a single thing appeared in the local newspaper nor the Mexican newspapers.

No radio or TV reports either. My buddy and I just kept our mouths shut. I found all that very strange.

I am and will always be a firm believer in UFO's. And I believe, someday, everyone else will, too. ((NUFORC Note: Date may be approximate.

Full Report Text:

UFO sighting over open pit uranium mine. The summer of 1971, I was working the night shift for Conoco Oil Co. at an open pit uranium mine west of Karnes City Tx.

I was one of 6 people operating Caterpillar 657B earth movers. We were down to about 210 feet deep when this incident happened. It was about 11:10 PM , just after shift change we were getting ready to crank our machines, when the 85 acre pit lit up as if it was daylight.

The light was so bright that I had to squint because it hurt my eyes. I remember hearing a high pitched hissing noise and the hair on my arms stood on end. I was so scared, I fell to the ground and started praying.

I remember trying to look up, but the light was so bright I couldn't. After about 2 minutes, the light started getting dimmer and I could finally look up at it. What I saw amazed me.

The object was round and the bright light was coming from the center of the bottom of the UFO. Around the perimeter of the craft was hundreds of penlight size light beams that alternated in all colors of the spectrum. Now I know they were laser beams.

The UFO was rising up slowly at first and then went straight up out of sight in about 10 seconds. I was crying and shaking and so was everyone else. The other shift workers thought we were crazy when we told them what had happened.

But we got the last laugh. This is how we proved it actually happened. There is a vein of uranium ore that runs from George West Texas to almost Texarkana Texas.

When determining where to place a mine, the following steps are accomplished: (1) A geologist with a geiger counter flies over the area and finds the highest radiation reading. (2) Drilling trucks are sent out and core samples are drilled to determine the highest concentration of uranium ore. These core samples are drilled in a grid pattern and every core sample is given a tracking number and logged in showing the concentration and amount of uranium present.

(3) The open pit mine is then laid out according to these core samples. When this UFO incident happened, we were about 2 feet away from a layer of hard rock called the "tap rock" that laid directly on top of the uranium ore. The uranium ore varied in depth from 6 to 18 inches and had about the same brown color as low grade coal.

Two days after this incident, the tap rock was removed to expose the uranium ore. We were astounded to find that the uranium ore was now a chalky white substance that had NO radioactivity at all! There was a 250 foot diameter circle of this chalky material in the center of the pit. Outside of the circle, the uranium ore was still as potent as before the incident.

Core samples don't lie. This chalky material was uranium before this incident. Many a night I have laid in my bed thinking about what happened.

I think the UFO needed the uranium for some reason.

Holliday, TX

Full Report Text:

bright orange glowing saucer shaped object that followed our car I am writing this report to tell others of the experience I had when I was about 20 years old. I am now 56. It was a warm summer night up near Wichita Falls, Texas.

This town is located in North central Texas, not very far from the Oklahoma border where the Red River separates the two states. My two friends and I decided to take our 22 caliber rifles and see if we could possibly find some rabbits to shoot at. I know it sounds cruel, but boys will be boys and I haven’t killed any game in years and have no intention to do so.

We all learn from our mistakes. We got in one of my friend’s car, a Mustang, and drove West past a town called Iowa Park, my hometown. We continued driving West until we turned onto a Farm to Market road that led to a town called Holliday, Texas.

We again turned West and went down a dirt road that led to a ranch. The name was posted on a sign there, but it’s been too many years to recall the name of the ranch. We didn’t find any rabbits, which we thought was odd, but after shooting our three 22 rifles empty into a ravine we decided it was time to go.

It was about 12:30 or 1 a.m. at this time.

After traveling back down the dirt road we rounded a hill, and I saw something behind me. I turned around and there was a bright orange glowing saucer shaped object about telephone pole high over the road directly behind us. I yelled at my two friends in the front of the car and they looked around and saw it too.

My friend that was driving punched the gas and we were literally floating on the rocks of the dirt road trying to get away as we were all so scared. I told him to slow down as he was going to wreck us, and he did, and I asked him to shut off the lights of the car. He was able to do this as there was enough light from the moon to see by.

The orange glowing object was still following us. I asked him to just shut off the car and see what happened. We coasted to a stop with the lights off and as soon as we stopped completely, it disappeared.

We looked around and it was now over a barbed-wire fence over some property next to us. It had moved so fast from behind us, it appeared to have just vanished. We couldn’t understand how it had moved so fast we didn’t see it do so.

I asked my friend to start the car and see if we could slowly move away without it following us, but it continued to move the exact speed that we were traveling as though it was somehow able to match our speed exactly. Almost as though it was somehow locked onto us somehow. We again turned off the car.

We talked about getting out and even joked about reloading our rifles and shooting at it, but no one in that car was about to get out and shoot at it. We were too scared to even get out of the car. We got very quite and stopped talking as the realization of what was happening finally sunk in.

We don’t know what really happened past this point. The next thing we know we felt like we had all been sort of frozen, looking at it for a long time, and the first thing we remember is we all saw it streak away until it was just a speck and then it was gone. We started the car and drove back into Wichita Falls where we all stayed that night.

I remember that it strange that we didn’t remember talking about it on the way back to town. We told a few people about seeing it, but of ‘course they all had something to comment on, like what had we been smoking? That night we were cold sober and hadn’t had anything to drink as we never went shooting firearms if we’d had anything to drink. A couple of days later our local TV station had an interview with an older couple that lived in my hometown.

They told of an incident where the wife had seen an orange glowing flying saucer shaped object over her back yard while she had gotten up to get some water. Her husband stated he’d had a hard time getting up at his wife’s urgent calls, but he had indeed seen something glowing orange that had streaked off into the distance after he had seen it. I looked over at my step-dad, and he was looking at me and starting to understand the story I had told him a couple of days earlier might have been true.

The one thing we never could understand was it seemed like we were out there a lot longer than we thought we were as it was very early in the morning when we finally made it back to Wichita Falls. The object never made any noise. That was one thing that scared us the most.

That, and the size of it. It was the width of the two lane road including the ditches. From barb wire fence to barb wire fence.

We figured the orange glow came from it heating up in the earth’s atmosphere. Traveling so fast through the air. It looked like two perfectly round plates put together with no sharp angles.

It was round on the edges with no windows or other lights visible. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the incident is approximate. PD)).
