Black Triangle over North Texas Circa 1985, 1986 I have been recounting this event since that time in either 1985 or 1986 in Plano Texas. I am not quite sure what I saw. It first appeared as dim light in the distant night sky.

The light appeared to be slowly moving from 20 miles away NE to SW. I mentioned to a friend that was there and he noticed it but paid it no mind. We first surmised that it was a helicopter.

Several minutes had passed and I noticed that it was moving ever closer but I could not hear the operation of the machine. I watched it as it floated directly overhead. It made no sound and appeared to be black or gun metal gray and machined on the bottom (lines or groves in patterns).

It was triangular in shape with a light in each corner. I stared at it for a second. The rest of the group appeared to pay it no attention at all even though it was right above us.

It was stationary above us at about a 100 feet. After staring for a minute it started to slowly move to the east. I walked the alley di! rectly underneath it trying to follow.

As I followed the craft it appear to notice me following. At that time it started to ascend into the sky. I imagined that it would rise into the clouds but it did not.

After ascending for a couple of seconds it just disappeared completely. No one spoke of the incident but I have recounted the story many times to my family since it happened. I had not heard of a triangular UFO at the time so it struck me as a bit odd.

The movie Contact came out and my brother called me on the phone to state that it was odd that they used a triangular UFO in the movie in light of the story I had always told. He had never heard of triangular UFOs either until that time. I now know that black triangles are a common siting and that vanishing is a common phenomenon associated with them.

I am sorry that I cannot remember the exact month or year but I know that school was in at the time and it was around 1985 or 1986. I do remember the media stating that pe! ople had reported a UFO siting over north Texas at the time. That made it clear in my mind that what I saw was not my imagination.

V Shape of Lights over North Texas Subject: UFO Date: October 1985 Time: Estimated 01:00 CST Witness age: 13 Location: 32°44'02.1"N 96°28'55.1"W Visibility: 1 mile Cloud Ceiling: Estimated 1,000 Feet Temperature: Estimated 70 Degrees Fahrenheit Relative Humidity: Estimated 65% Object type: V-shape formation of 7 white lights Speed: Estimated 60 knots Direction of travel: NE to SW at approximate heading 185 degrees I was laying on a picnic table bench in the back patio area, looking up at the sky (I did this almost nightly) and thinking.

While at that age I very much wanted to see and actively searched for UFO’s, I was not thinking of the topic on this particular evening. Especially since there was complete cloud cover with a low ceiling. As I was laying with my feet to the west, with a viewing angle of approximately 70 degrees upward, I suddenly saw a V shape formation of 7 white lights moving swiftly just above the clouds from NE to SW, following State Road FM740.

The lights had a slight oval shape to them, but were very well defined, indicating that the craft was just above the cloud layer. There was no sound at all. The craft was completely silent from my position.

As it started to disappear from my view to the southwest, I jumped up and moved towards the eastern fence of the patio to watch it continue over the row of houses. I was able to watch it for about 150 more yards ! (ground distance) before I lost sight of it. Still there was no sound, nor variance in speed or formation.

I immediately went into the house and told my mother of the incident. To my knowledge, there were no other witnesses. I did not ask any of my friends or neighbors due to fear of ridicule.

Chevron flew 5 mph, 150 yards from me, 200 feet off the ground. I was inspired to finally report about what I saw 23 years ago by the recent interest spurred by the Stevenville, Texas sighting. I have probably told this to approximately 10 to 15 people in all these years because as any other person that has seen a UFO can tell you “people think you are crazy”.

This sighting happened in September or October of 1985. I was a teacher for a trade school for Austin Community Collage and a local union in Austin Texas. I let out class around 9:00 PM on a Thursday night.

My route home took me down South Lamar to Brodie Lane. This area of Austin was mostly farm land back then. As I turned left onto Brodie, I saw an object in the sky moving over the farm house on my right.

I stopped and got out of my truck to get a better look. There were a few other cars going by and I tried to get them to stop and see but they just kept going by. It was approximately 150 yards from me and 200 feet off the ground.

It looked like both wings of a jet connected in the middle, boomerang or V shaped, but there was no fuselage. I later learned it was called chevron. On the front there were 6 extremely bright white lights, two close together on each side of the center and single lights towards the tips.

Behind it where fuselage should be, was a hazy, foggy, reddish-pink glow. It was moving steadily only about 5 miles per hour, silently except for a 3 or 4 second blast of what sounded like high pressure air release every 30 seconds. I watched it for around 20 minutes as it flew north-northwest directly over Barton Creek Mall.

I called Bergstram, the closest Air Force base at that time, to report the sighting. For the next few days I went back and forth with phone calls with different people and then they gave me the brush off. They did, however, tell me they had no aircraft flying that night.

It feels good to report this after all these years. This is the first time I have written down this experience. I hope it will jog someone else’s memory that was in the area and serious investigation continues.

Enormous triangular craft. No lights, no noise. I was taking some classes at the University of Houston during the summer and there was a summer pool party at night.

My room mate was telling my others friends a joke. I was bored and looked up and saw this enormous triangular shaped craft. I would estimate to lenght to have been 1/2 mile.

It was totally black, had no lights and made no noise. I screamed "Look, look". Only the girl sitting next to me looked up.

I asked her "What was it ?". She made a face of "Idon't know" and turned her back to me not wanting to discuss it. It has been 17 years now and I hope I will know what it was before I die.

We both had summer jobs at the park and were saying goodnight after seeing a late movie. The object looked like a cigar (saucer from a side view) and in July in Dallas there is a haze. The light which was a bright green lit up the sky (in the general proximty, as it entered the area (trajectory-planet re-entry) perhaps even steeper than 45 degrees.

Sighting in Del Rio, Texas The years was 1985. My friend and I were 15 years old. My friend and I were sitting on our bikes one night.

We were sitting on them in the middle of the street in Del Rio, Texas. The streets were 11th and Ave B. We were talking and for some reason we both looked up.

I guess we had both heard a subtle air or whisper sound. I couldn’t really tell you that we heard much of anything. I just know that some kind of noise or feeling made us both look up right at it at the same time.

It’s not like we ever sat out there looking at stars. We were facing North east and the craft was heading north west. It was a diamond shape made up of faint lights.

There were no lights visible inside the diamond. It looked as if it was going maybe 70 to 80 MPH and was about a mile above us. Maybe as big as a football field.

It was as if it was disguised within the starts of the night. But we could see the diamond. There is an airforce base in Del Rio and I am familiar with just about every kind of craft that flies out of that base.

My Dad worked there for 30 years and I grew up there. This was big, cloaked and whisper quiet. We ran inside screaming, told my friends mom and that was all we saw.

Never saw it again.

Large, triangular shaped object with lights on bottom silently passes over my house, matches Austin couple's description I realize this is very old but my wife and I were shocked to see the description on your opening page by the Austin, Texas couple who saw (and drew) a triangular object with lights beneath it. My wife and I saw the exact, and I mean exact same object over 20 years ago in Georgetown, Texas, 25 miles north of Austin. We were freshmen in college and dating at the time - we were standing outside in my parents driveway at about 11pm when we saw what appeared to be a very large, delta-shaped object with lights below it and a bright light shining out in front (similar to a helicopter).

This object was coming from the North and passed directly over our heads at an altitude of about 500 feet. We were sure at first it was a very quiet military plane until it passed over and it made absolutely no sound whatsoever. I joked as it came towards us that it was a UFO and my wife laughed until it passed quietly overhead - she then burst into tears.

It passed over fairly slowly, the whole episode took about 45 seconds. We called the Sheriffs department who told us that they had been swamped with calls about the object. They also told us that they thought it was probably an experimental aircraft out of Fort Hood in Killeen, 30 miles north of Georgetown.

After reporting it my wife and I pretty much kept it to ourselves unless people were telling UFO stories. It didn't seem extremely important to me until I saw that drawing and read of the close proximity to where we saw our object. Note: When I asked my wife is she remembered the event she said "of course" but neither of us can remember exactly what month or year it was, it was either 1985 or 86 and it was summer, probably July and it was definitely late, around 11 or 12.

I know this isn't complete but I couldn't read that couple's experience and not comment for whatever it's worth.

Black triangle over Katy Texas in mid 1980s In summer of 1985 or 86 my teenaged son and I noticed a white light in the sky about a mile away from our house that was blinking slowly, but motionless in the dusk sky. My husband looked but thought it must be a plane, so my son and I got in the car and drove to get near it and saw it was hovering very low in the sky perfectly still, noiseless. We could see it was a black perfect triangle, and had a white blinking light underneath at each corner blinking in unison.

Many others on a school parking lot nearby were also watching it. A jogger said he had ran the block 3 times and it had not moved. My son and i rushed home to get my husband and our 8 inch reflector telescope to view it better.

When we came back the sky was dark, but the thing was still stationary, hanging there. We were almost directly underneath it, and set up the scope on the field grass. The instant I got my eye on the viewer the lights all went off on it, just like someone flipped the switch off.

It was very eerie, but after our eyes adjusted to the darkness in the viewfinder we could see the color seemed to be flat black or dark flat gunmetal gray. It also seemed to not be featureless on the bottom but to have an undulating or webbed appearance. After awhile, the telescope began to reveal that it was very softly glowing orange, like coals that are almost burned out.

(You could not see it at all naked eye against the dark sky) We all watched it hang there over us for most of an hour and it never budged. Mosquitoes were biting and it was hot, so we finally left it there suspended in the dark. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date is approximate.

This site was a one mile hike off the main road. They parked their vehicle on the side of the road and started walking.

Before too long they both felt dizzy. The next thing they knew they woke up 45 miles from their vehicle way across the park. They had a radio so they called for help.

I thought ya'll might enjoy that. A friend (park border patrol ranger) told me that after i witnessed some ships. I was building his house at the time and have no doubt of the truthfulness of his statement.

Whitney, TX

Full Report Text:

9 Objects in formation over Lake Whitney A group of friends and myself had gone to Lake Whitney in the state of Texas in the mid-nineteen eighties and finally settled into the camping area at the Southwest part of the lake at the West end of the lake side of the Dam. We were at a location known as Soldier’s Bluff and my brother and myself had, around 01:30, left the group to sit at the edge of the cliffs and fish. While we both sat there on an igloo cooler, we stared at disbelief at the beauty and clarity of the stars that filled the sky.

While staring into the night sky, looking towards the East, I spotted a single light moving across the sky. As I watched the light, it turned into two lights, with one being slightly above the other at about a two o’clock position, similar to how a plane would appear if it was traveling across the sky and slowly turned towards you. The two lights became further and further apart, causing me to finally exclaim out loud that that was a HUGE plane because of the distance that they were from each other.

(I assumed them to be wing lights on an aircraft). As they grew even further apart at an undeterminable distance, seven more lights appeared one at a time from either within the first light or from behind it and swooped into formation behind the first light as it made its way back across the sky from either the direction it came or in the direction it turned, with the second light falling in behind them. These objects seemed to emit their own bluish, white light with no blinking lights or colored lights.

They traveled in a Westward direction, with the larger, round shaped first light leading the smaller, seven round lights that were closely followed by a large rectangular light. My brother and I watched in amazement as the 9 objects slowly and silently made their way across the sky before and above us. We tried to rationalize the fact that 9 airplanes or helicopters in the night sky would make SOME noise, but we heard nothing.

We finally decided that it must be a smaller plane pulling a lighted banner. As if to prove us wrong, the large rectangular object rose slightly above the line of the formation and shot across the top of the formation to the halfway point, where it stopped and slowly drifted down between the formation to stop below the formation where it hovered in place until the last of the seven smaller lights finally passed over it at which point it rose back up to continue to take up the rear of the formation. We watched the formation glide silently across the sky until we could no longer distinguish the objects from the stars and turned to look at each other for a long moment, then back at the sky.

At that point we both arose from the cooler and clumsily gathered up our fishing gear and made our way back to the campsite to find several friends standing there looking at and searching the night sky. I asked if they had seen the lights, and with astonished looks on their faces they muttered a meek "Yeah, What was that?" We replied that we were not sure ourselves what they were and we all spent the rest of the early morning discussing the possibilities. At sunrise, we all broke camp and left the camp area and returned home to Dallas, Texas.

The following day I contacted the Dallas Times Herald (no longer in existence) and asked them how I could find out if there were 9 aircrafts in the area on that night, at which time I explained what we had seen. I was told that their paranormal investigator would contact me shortly. I never heard from that person and assumed they had discovered some military exercise that had taken place over the area that night and never re-contacted them or attempted to contact anyone else of authority concerning this sighting.

I believe I filed an online report with MUFON a few years back, but aside from that, I have told no one but friends or acquaintances about the incident. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate. PD)).

Object passed over, caused vehicle power failure and animal agitation At the time of the sighting experience I was working at a horse farm in Tx. The other person with me at the time of sighting was the trainer at the same farm. Myself and the other person were transporting a load of 6 horses from a farm in Houston to our base farm in Waco Tx at night.

Around 10:15 pm we pulled over to check the horses, water them ( it was a very warm night) We opened up the side door of the transport and proceeded to tend to the horses. We were driving a semi tractor trailer type transport A few minutes later we noticed the horse getting agitated, ears flicking back and forth, breathing heavier, stomping their hooves. The other person stepped out of the transport to see if there was a coyote or something they caught scent of, he saw nothing.

The horses agitation increased At around 10:30 my companion called me to come outside the trailer I did. He pointed up to the sky, northwest direction, I looked. There was a patch of the sky that was darker than the rest, and the stars were blocked out.

It appeared to be moving towards us in a southeast direction At that time the semi started to run roughly, the lights started to dim all over it and inside the trailer. The horses were quite agitated at this point. The dark spot in the sky was now almost overhead and we were aware it was a triangle shape, and very large.

In my estimation it was over 2 football fields long, or over the length of my outreached hand to the sky, I did that to try to judge the size. As it passed overhead there was no sound. It was definitely a solid object, had a appearence of metal, possibly stone, or another hard surface.

And as it passed over the semi tractor trailer ceased running, like the fuel wasn't getting to the engine and the lights faded to going totally off. The horses were very nervous by this time. After approx.

10 minutes ( the object moved slowly) it had passed completely over us and was heading in the southeast direction still. As it got farther away the semi tractor trailer started back up, the lights came back on, both gradually as if they were filling from being drained off or something. the horses settled as it got farther away as well.

Both of us were shaken at this experience, and have never forgotten it to this day We watched the object until it disappeared from decent view which was around 11pm then closed up the trailer, and proceeded on our way to Waco. Neither of us have spoken or reported this until this past year. Only to the Coast to Coast radio website, and have told a few close friends.

Full Report Text:

Red glowing object seen over small town several years ago. I am reporting this incident retrospectively to both assist my recollection of events and attempt to gain a better understanding of what my father and I saw several years ago (between spring 1984 and 1986) when I was about 9 years old. It was late evening after a baseball game between 8 and 9:00 at night.

After several years of denial, my father recently confirmed that he too witnessed the following events. After leaving the local convenience store heading towards Leonard, I noticed a cylinder like object hovering nearby. From my perspective, the object appeared to be the size 18-wheeler.

The object was stationary for about 3 minutes and proceeded to parallel us as my father drove towards downtown. We followed the object for about 10 more minutes towards Leonard. We continued seeing the object moving slightly faster than we were driving.

About half way between Trenton and Leonard, the object moved south west over an empty field, staying at the same altitude, and rapidly moved upwards vanishing into the night sky. It did not resemble the traditional UFO flying disk shape. The object was shaped like a flattened blimp.

My father described it more as an elongated egg. I remember that the object was red with many lights--red, white, and possibly blue). The object was glowing with a dim red.

The edges of the area were glowing a darker red. Additional red lights flashed in a random pattern at the bottom of the object. The white lights were along the side of the object.

I believe that the blue or green lights also were along the bottom of the object as well. At the initial sighting when the object was hovering, the object appeared to have a metallic-like texture with at least one horizontal crease. It's hard to describe, but the object was more than a form of light; it had an odd, wavy, gridded, metal-like texture to it.

The white lights did not appear round, but rather small squares. In retrospect, the white light may have been the illumination of the horizontal crease. The lights also did not appear to illuminate the surrounding area.

I could not see any wings or propellers--as would be on a helicopter. The object did not make any sound and despite how close it was. It also did not disturb any of the surrounding trees.

A helicopter that was as near as this object was would have been audible and disturbed the branches on the surrounding trees. Again, these events occurred many years ago and I wish that I had made a more detailed observation of the events at the time. However, I was a child at the time and only recently had these events confirmed by my father who was reluctant to discuss these events.

It would be incredibly helpful if others could guide me in the research of this event and other events similar to this. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the incident is approximate. PD)).

Full Report Text:

Glowing green "football" suddenly appears & then accelerates to nothingness I was driving from Houston to Austin using a rural road, I think it was road 71 and I was about 10-15 minutes from seeing Austin's city lights. I remember that sometimes when getting to Austin using this road I would see the military jets landing at Bergstrom AFB. It was about 9:30 pm or so, it was pitch dark and a bit cloudy.

So I am driving when, suddenly, I see through the top of my windshield this object that looked like a football, glowing bright green, so much so that the green light reflected off the few clouds above. This reflection made it real for me at that moment because my brain said, "this cannot be imagined, the light is actually reflecting off the clouds!" And I remember thinking that the object could not have been too high off the ground, maybe 300-400 feet off the ground or so it seemed. It was flying the same direction I was driving and I was startled to say the least.

So I leaned forward on the steering wheel to see it better when, suddenly, it just shoots off towards Austin extremely fast and doesn't go more that 20 yards before it just disappears. I was utterly fascinated, I think I noticed a car in front of me a couple of hundred yards but it didn't stop. So I pulled over, just to see the whole sky and to, I guess, get a grip on reality by just looking at the spot where I had witnessed this event.

So I am standing next to the car, looking at the sky, when to my left, across the road, into the forest, in the distance, I noticed like smoke and glowing red/orange lights; it looked like a fire but I was not sure. I think I then climbed onto the hood of the car to have a better look when all of a sudden I felt fear, a gripping fear that made me think, "hey, you better get out of here, get in the car and get out of here, this is just too weird." I got back into the car and drove outta there and didn't stop till I got to Austin and told my girlfriend about it.
