Texas UFO Sightings in 1986

Formation of four star like lights appearing and reappearing. I do not have an exact date or time of this event. It could have been between mid 1986 and mid 1987, so I arbitrarily assigned it December 31, 1986.

The time of 9pm or 2100 hours local is also approximate. The precise information was recorded in a log book that I used to record astronomical measurements in and was later stolen in a home burglary. And I can only guess the above dates because of other information that was recorded before and after the log book was stolen.

Also the Houston area is not much of a seasonal place so that does not help my recollection. The following is the best of my recollection. The formation of lights appeared in my northwest sky at about azimuth 315 and about 30 degrees altitude up from my horizon.

The formation was 4 white lights parallel to the horizon appearing as two pairs of lights with about twice the distance separating the pairs as was between each light in the pair. The brightness of these lights were around 4th magnitude star lights and appeared as such - point light source stars. The lights were steady and not twinkling.

The angular width of the formation was about 1 degree. This formation of lights changed location in the sky within an area of about 4 degrees. I based the approximate degree measurements using the width of the index finger at arms length to be about 1 degree.

The formation moved from its initial location down about 1-1/2 degrees and to the left about 1 degree, and then from that location moved about 2-1/2 degrees to the right and down about 2 degrees. The lights did not move but instead disappeared and reappeared in a different location as noted. These were the only movements I can recall and then they disappeared completely.

When the lights changed location it was and instantaneous movement meaning the lights did not disappear for some time then reappear. This was in fact what caught my attention to begin with so I really don't know how long they were doing this movement before I noticed them. There were no other noticeable objects or lights in this area of the sky.

There was no other apparent motion with the lights. There were no sounds. There was no noticeable object associated with the lights.

The formation of the 4 lights never changed its shape. I assumed these lights to have been at a very great distance away from my location. There were clouds in that area of the sky and I viewed the event through an opening in the clouds that stayed open during the entire event.

This was all viewed using only unaided eye vision - no telescope or binoculars, etc. The event duration was probably about 15-20 seconds. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date is approximate.

Bright Blue Orb I was between 8-12 years old and went outside to take out the trash. Our house was in a new neighborhood and there was an empty lot next to ours, then another house, then a forest. I am female.

When I took out the trash, I walked over to a cluster of bushes and small trees in the empty lot for reasons unknown. As I stated, a bright, bright cobalt blue orb of light that was larger than a softball but smaller than a cantaloupe came from the upper left of the air out of nowhere, jetted down in front of my left hand side, floated for two to three seconds, then jetted off in the same path and disappeared. I ran inside and told my mom and brother who told me I was crazy.

Never talked about it again. I had very bad migraines as a child after this, but I am not sure if it's related. I never received treatment.

Large ship with no sound and no lights passing over my apt complex I went out of my apartment complex jogging in early evening and when I returned back to the pool area, I sensed a movement above me. I looked up and a large object was moving over my head. However, there were no lights and no noise.

It blackened out the sky as it went over me and this only lasted a few seconds. It was so close that I couldn't see the whole of it but my mind recognized it as the shape of an aircraft (without the wings).I hesitate to say "cigar shaped" because it was so close over my head that I couldn't see the full shape.

It was like being in a row boat and suddenly turning around and seeing a large cargo ship float 50 feet in front of you (with no noise or lights).you can only see a mass chunk of it. This experience has mystified and haunted me for 15 years.

I guess I'll never know exactly what that was. But I remember feeling a tremendous respect and reverence for it as well as a feeling of wonderment and amazement. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate.

V-shaped object in Del Rio Texas A friend and I were sitting on our bikes at approx. 9pm. I was facing north and he was facing south.

We were located between 11th and 12th street. I lived on 17th but on the same ave “B” as my friend. All of a sudden we heard a really, really faint breeze sound.

I don’t know how we both heard it since it was so faint. We both looked up and saw a traingle shape object moving northwest. It wasn’t very high in the air.

I would say maybe a 1-1/2 neighborhood block up in the air. I couldn’t begin to tell you how big it was. It was made up of small faint lights.

I don’t remember seeing the third part of the triangle. Just the “V” shape. It was made up of maybe 7 or 8 lights on each side.

We pretty much ran inside and told his parents what we saw and then came out later and did not see it again. About 7 years later I was living in dallas and saw a show that Larry king was doing in area 52 with a bunch of UFO experts. He was broadcasting from the desert.

I was really freaked out to see that one of the sightings that they were showing was an exact description of what I saw. Only in a different state. I remember what it looked like that night in del Rio, like it was yesterday.

A BLACK 5 SIDED BOX 2FT SQUARE. FLOATED FROM A FARM HOUSE JUST OVER POWERLINES AND THEN BACK UNDER TO RESUME CORSE AND SLOW;Y FLOAT UP WARD TO THE EAST. I WAS OUT OF MY CAR AND STANDING DIRECLY UNDER IT AS IT CIRCLED THE POWER LINES.

THERE WHERE NO STRINGS. I WAS RETURNING FROM CLASSES AT THE TIME ON MY HOME. THERE WAS NO WIND.

White, diamond-shaped craft with military escort Late dusk, as my friend and I were riding our bikes home, I notice quite a few military helicopters flying directly overhead. They were flying in formation roughly 200 ft above sea level. This struck me as odd because military aircraft rarely flew anywhere near the area, so I stopped to see what was going on.

Roughly 20 seconds later, a white, diamond-shaped craft flew overhead, roughly 100 feet above sea level -- much lower than the helicopters. It made no sound and no colors other than white were seen. It was fairly bright, but not so bright as to light the ground beneath.

There were also no navigational lights. It was very large, with the sides spanning about 30 degrees of sky from my perspective. Total viewing time was 6-8 seconds.

After it passed out of sight behind me, another 3 seconds or so passed when two F-4s (recognized by the sound) came screaming along the same path. These passed by about the same altitude of the helicopters, roughly 200 ft. They were moving very fast, as if they were moving to intercept.

Ten to fifteen more seconds passed before three duel rotor helicopters (Chinook?) Slowly followed behind. I went home and told my mother. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the event is approximate.

In broad daylight almost cloudless afternoon a large fat oval "craft" instantly appeared and disappeared from less than 1000 ft from my I am reporting this UFO sighting 25 years later because of 2 major points which I feel makes this sighting quite unique.  My wife and I witnessed the brief 3-4 min event from arrival to departure in perfect daylight weather. In addition, there was also another anomaly that preceded the main object which I feel was associated with it, although I cannot precisely place the 2 together.

 These two facets make this a significant, extraordinary UFO sighting.  Austin Tx 1986, Sunday afternoon between 4-5pm. We had just returned from buying groceries to cook on my new outdoor grill.

So I was outside on my 2nd story apt deck at Sterling Village sitting down watching the fire and looking out due west at the beautiful bright blue sky, almost no clouds, just perfect central Texas sky. Then to my left I see something dark in the sky at quite a distance in the SE direction that I assumed was a flock of birds. I turned to look directly at the "flock" and observed peculiar spazzy "wing" movement, sort of like cartoon bats, not at all bird-like.

So the "flock" began to get bigger, not closer, and within a few seconds it became clear that it was not birds but, LARGE crooked zig-zagging dark LINES that were gradually spreading outward from a previously small central point, like a cracked windshield, only this was moving, vibrating. I also could not quite determine just how far away these lines were since I had never seen anything like this before, but my guess would be several miles, at least 20 or so, about as far as the eye could see fairly clear. I guess to describe it, it looked as if a sky-blue canvas was being ripped or torn at from the opposite side from me, with darkness behind it.

As I recall at this time I could not really think as to what I was seeing; I mean my thoughts just stopped, like an overloaded PC "freezing-up". Now I looked around and saw nothing else in the air but a few sparsely thin wispy clouds. No birds, no planes, balloons, blimps, helicopters, nothing but still quiet blue sky.

As I looked back at the object(s?) only moments later, it was quite larger now, having at least tripled in size and branching out in long, spider-like appendages within a few seconds time. It was also vibrating much faster and I was just dumbfounded staring awestruck. I quite literally went blank for lack of any frame with which to reference what I was witnessing.

NOTE: You must understand that I DO realize this description sounds incredibly absurd, I honestly do. I am only describing what this event looked like. Please hear me out.

This is not a hoax.  At this point I was really at a loss for even thoughts as to what this was, and by now I was getting nervous so I again glanced toward the western horizon, bright orange sun lighting up everything and as I turned to look back at the dark lines, a grayish blur INSTANTLY appeared in front of me maybe 800 to 1000 feet to my left at the lowest cloud level. I stopped to look at it for a moment and almost instantly it changed in appearance and became a defined object, that is to say the surface and edges came into focus and the grayish blur changed  into a solid 3 dimensional object.

The object was a grey blur for only about 2 seconds but the transition from fuzzy-blur to definite solid object happened instantly. I then remembered the "dark lines" in the sky and immediately after this grey object appeared solid I quickly glanced back at the sky toward the south east where the "dark lines" had been only to find they were completely gone. No visible trace remained of that first anom! alous sighting at all.

As large and branching as it had become within less than half a minutes time it disappeared within a few seconds. But I now had this other thing to look at. At first it resembled a huge ballon-like blimp from a parade float or something being that it was smooth.

No parades in town today. I thought it might have been hiding behind a cloud. A quick scan of the skies revealed no clouds even close to being large enough to have been able to conceal the object.

Within a few seconds, maybe 10 or so, I observed it did not have wings, jets, propellors, windows, lights, markings, nothing I could identify it with. It was a glossy smooth blueish-dark brown-gray color, similar to that of the submarines I've seen on TV. It also did not make any movement at all; none at all, like a huge dark semi-flattened jellybean perched upon a ledge it just sat there totally silent and motionless, slightly tilted downward towards my general direction.

 Finally about this time I suddenly felt anxious as I finally realized this was not like anything I have ever seen in the sky (or anywhere for that matter). I was still reeling from what I had been watching prior to this object and I was VERY uneasy now. Austin at that time had Bergstrom AFB and I had seen at another time huge military cargo carrier jets circle the city to land at the AFB.

This object could have held inside of it at least a couple of those big planes. Cliche as it sounds, easily this object was at least as big as a football field. Easily.

At this moment I called to my wife who was inside cutting up the chicken to grill. She told me to wait she was busy and I anxiously yelled for her to come outside right now! She ran out looking down at the grill (she later said she thought I had burned myself lighting the fire, by the way I was yelling) and I bolted up out of my chair, grabbed her by the shoulders and pointed her towards the object in the sky and ranted, "Do you see that?! DO YOU!?! Huh!? Answer Me! What is it?" She was not excited like me. She was calm and speechless, literally at a loss for words.

I kept asking her if she could see it, what was it? and she finally whispered "I don't know". We then heard a man yelling at us from the parking lot by our apartment. "Do You See It?!", he asked me.

Yea I see it! Do you?!, I responded. YEA! WHAT IS It?! He yelled at me and I yelled back I Don't know!!! (In hindsight I thought it silly that I asked if he saw it too when he obviously had since he asked me first) Now this guy was behaving even more excited than I was, he was jumping around and waving his arms, really losing it. I guess looking for other people but nobody was around close by.

We then heard some yelling in the adjacent shopping center parking lot where several people were pointing in the air towards the thing and jumping and yelling. My wife and I just looked at it quietly. I suggested we study it in detail.

(I have a bit more to say with regards to a more detailed description of the incident, also regarding my phone call to Bergstrom AFB; they denied having any planes flying in the area). NOTE: It is the two specific moments regarding the objects arrival and departure that completely distinguish this thing from anything then or now that I can think to compare it to. I cannot emphasize how quickly this thing simply zipped into view, then zipped away silently, instantly, no sound, no light.

As my wife describes it, "Just POOF! Gone". Sorry but i really have to use another cliche: If you had blinked your eyes you would miss it. A bustling city all around and had you not looked up in the sky you would not know it was there.

I saw so many cars pass by on N.Lamar blvd, totally oblivious to this huge thing hanging less than 1000 feet above them. Approximate location was just north of 183/research, between N.

Lamar & Burnet Rd. Would gladly discuss more detail in reference to this sighting since we had a perfect viewing in broad daylight. I am old enough to recall as a youngster ( when kids used to play outside ) and quite often military jets from the nearby AFB would fly low and break the sound barrier.

We always looked around to find the jet.   At no time during this sighting did I hear any sound at all from either the craft which was WAY larger than any jet I've ever seen; nor was there any sound from the anomalous object that appeared before it. I have seen the Goodyear blimp from at least 3 times the distance further than this object and I could still hear it's engine.

I've said more than you wanted to hear in this text I'm sure but as you might guess, this event forever changed my view on many things in this life. Up until this 1986 sighting i had little interest in these things. I felt the Star Trek-Star Wars phenom had run its course.

Prior to this sighting and for 20 years afterwards I had virtually no interest in the ufo phenom. My interest in UFOs has sprung up only in the last few years really after finding so much interest on the www.   Again, I am sharing this with you for the reasons I stated earlier.

I am also hoping to meet anyone who may have seen this UFO. I counted at least 5 people other than my wife and I whom I personally observed watching the object. I would be especially surprised to find anyone else who witness the "lines in the sky" anomaly as well.

  My wife and I are both licensed healthcare professionals and we both have at least 15 more good years of service to mankind before retirement. I do not wish to discredit our reputations as they are in excellent standing in our respective specialty areas. As I hope you can understand, I do not wish to openly reveal our identities.

  My wife especially is in disagreement about discussing this event as she currently holds supervisory positions in and out of the hospital setting. She dislikes talking about this even with me bec ause "no one is going to believe it and even if they did, nothing will become of it so just give up on it". So I am sharing this with you all without her involvement.

Was looking at all kinds of sites that came up on the Yahoo web site. It talked about how people are looking at UFO sites. It reminded me of a something I saw in 86.

A friend an I were by San Marcos TX. fishing at a place called 5 mile dam. I was really early id say about 2-4 am.

The dam has a huge cliff on one side of the river. While fishing at the furthest part away from the dam, I saw a large square box, I could see everything on it as it hovered over the top of the water, it was huge, blk and gray. I could see lots of detail.

at first I thought it was a weird aircraft that we were testing or something like that, no noise. I would guess it was the size of a foot ball field or just a bit smaller. It went over me and then went up over the cliff.

This is weird because after reading some of your stuff a person in Texas saw the same type of thing. I was wondering if it was the same one. I will never forget this.

3 lights - red, yellow, and blue ufo seen in Conroe, TX It was during the summer of 1986. My mom just yelled at me and grounded me. My dad, feeling sorry for me, said let's go pull the new truck into our car port.

When we got inside the truck my dad couldn't turn the truck on and this was a brand new truck. It seemed like all power of the truck was gone. My dad was about to out and check until we saw a saucer like spaceship hovering very close on top of our house.

It had bright likes in the color of red, blue, and yellow. Very slowly it started moving along the trees behind our house and as soon as it was away and couldn't be seen anymore the power of the truck came back on. We never really spoke about again until last year when I asked if he remembered it and he said, "yes, as if it were yesterday.

SOLO. COMPLETE DARKNESS. WE WHERE GOING TO SOUTH PADRE ISLAND 7 MILES BE FOR THERES A REST STOP VERY DARK AREA.

WAS AROUND 8PM.I SAW A RED LIGHT TO MY LEFT I WAS THE PASSANGER BY THE WAY.I TOLD DOUG LOOK!!! TO YOUR LEFT WE STOPPED AT THE REST STOP.

PITCH DARK AND SAID WOWOWOW.THE RED LIGHT WAS AROUND 150 YARDS AWAY.THERES NOTHING OUT THERE EXCEPT COWS AND CATTES.

I WAS IN THE AIR FORCE IN 1988 AND NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. WHAT HAPPENED WAS THAT I WAS VERY QUIET OUTSIDE AND IT WAS JUST HUVERING STILL.I WOULD SAY AROUND 300 FEET NO SOUND AT ALL AND IVE KNOW WHEN THERES AN AIRCRAFT.

THIS WAS NO AIRCRAFT AT ALL. WHAT HAPPENED DOUG STOPPED AND WE COULD NOT HEAR ANYTHING. THEN IT DIDNT MOVE.

AND A WHITE LIGHT DROP DOWN LOOK LIKE IT WAS GOING TO PICK UP SOMETHINGTHE LIGHT WAS ON FOR AROUND2 MINUTES. THEN THE LIGHT DREW BACK UP TO WHAT EVER THE FUCK IT WAS.THEN IT BEGAN TO MOVE WEST BOUND VERY SLOW WE HEARD NO NOISES.

NOTHING. BUT IT WAS A RED BALL SHAPE LIGHT. #### BUT I KNOW IT WAS FROM AROUND HERE#### THEN WE WENT TO SOUTH PADRE ISLAND.

seeing an egg shape object in the daylight sky This sighting happened in Plainview, TX. right in the outskirts of Plainview. I was playing basketball by myself when something cought me eye.

It was reflecting of and on. Something like a diamond ring does when you put in the right light. I thought it was an airplane because that's about the distance I could see it.

This object was just still, the occasionally it would move to the rght and then bacl left. It was doing this for some time. I the called my cousin who was nearby and pointed it to him.

We were fasinated by this object. It did this for sometime and the it moved futher to the right and then it just kept on going right and just dissapeared. I think it just went full throttle.

It never went up it just dissapeared into the horizon. I really never told anybody other than my parents. I know there's something outhere it's alot of space out there, I just hope i'm still alive when they find concrete evidence that there is life out there.

A large round object hovered over my house very late at night, with lights all around it, that faded as I looked. At approximately 3:00am,my son and a friend were sleeping on the screened -in back porch. Suddenly, my son came running into my bedroom and shook me awake, yelling "Mom, come look, there's something funny outside".

I got out of bed and went to the porch and looked outside above the house. Above us I saw, about 50 to 80ft above us three rows of lights that seemed to outline a large craft. As I watched for about 2 minutes, the lights slowly faded out.

It was so weird, not even the crickets were chirping. It was dead silent. I never said much to anyone, but it seems that no-one but us saw it.

at least I never heard anyone talk about it. It wasn't until much later, when I read in a book (unfortunately I can't remember the name of it,) that a woman who chased these sightings down, mentioned that they could just fade away, but that it didn't mean they were gone. When I read that, I felt more secure in my sighting.

I was afraid to say anything about it because people tend not to believe. To this day, my son won't talk about it because when he woke up at 3:00am, he said he was standing up, and didn't remember getting to his feet. It scared him to talk about it because he heard that these "people" kidnapp people.

His friend claims not to remember, but I know he does. I have always wondered why they are so reluctant to talk about the incident. By the way they also told me that it was very bright until I got there, that's when it became dimmer.

2ft Square , 5 Sided Black Box About 1986 I had been a student in a junior college at a Lubbock annex , it was around 3:00 in the afternoon. At the time I lived with my parents south of Lubbock about 4 miles out. A fairley populated residential area.

As I was driving home on County Road 1585 to turn South on South University Ave , I had notice from a mile away a BLACK object that looked like a kite. As I got closer to my turn I noticed no one flying the "KITE" and once about 100 ft away I could see it to be a Black Box . Out of curiosity I drove past University Ave and pulled the car over and got out.

There are power line along the road way, as I wathced this object I could see it had only 5 sides, I could see inside the BLACK box. I observed this box as it floated a few feet over the power lines, decend , reverse direction and do a full circle of the power lines. Keep in mind, I am directly under this object in broad daylight.

as the object reaccended it then resummed its coarse and continued in a southern direction with a gradual climb. I rushed to the house to notify my mother but by the time i had gotten there , less than 1/2 mile away , the object was so high and far way she could only see a dot. I was wondering if anyone else had ever reported seeing anything like this.

UFO tries to communicate On an evening of April of 1986, as we had just dropped off one of our fellow student who lived outside the city limits we decided to take a back road as it would be faster to get to our destination. I had noticed a bright star that seemed to very slowly be moving downward and toward us. I told the others to look at the start that was moving toward us.

We had just stopped at an intersection. All was dark with the exception of the bright white light that was moving toward us. We were all frozen and the man driving the station wagon was also mesmerized at what we were seeing.

He comented "It is probably a helicopter." I told him " But there is no sound." As it got closer we could make a shape.

It was a saucer like shape. Finally, it was almost directly over us. Actually toward my side of the station wagon.

It was about as high as a two story house so we could see many details of this thing that was above us. On the lower part of the UFO there was a bright light and it was surrounded by what seemed about a ten foot section area which all of a sudden started emiting different lights. It almost seemed as if there was a pattern to the lights as they went in one direction then in another.

The lights emited were changing fast from white to yellow to blue to red and many other colors. Then they stopped. It almost seemed as if they were trying to communicate to us.

Above the area where the lights were being emited there were what seemed to be glass windows and I could make out things moving in there. The shape of those things were exactly like a human being except the arms seemed to be very thin and long. The man who was driving the station wagon got very anxious and said "Let's get out of here.

" His mother agreed. This UFO followed us for what seemed to be about five to ten minutes and as we were getting closer to the city lights it suddenly took off in the oposite direction. It disappeared in what seemed to be an eyeblink.

I looked behind and noticed three military helicopters headed toward th! e genera l area where the UFO went. We were silent all the way home. We dropped off another of the students and then my boyfriend and I were dropped off at my mother's house.

We ran in and told her all about it. To this date I have never mentioned this to anyone else. I ran into the mother of the driver on a city bus and she looked at me and asked if I remembered what we saw and I told her I did.

She said "It was incredible." and I agreed. It would be nice if someone would try to contact all of us and see what we draw and say.

In the way to school In the morning at 8.15am in a classroom in second grade. We as a class were solution the USA flag.

I remember that the teacher ask us to get up of the chear. I stand up of the chear and the movement, I open my mouth I look up to the wind and a white object was out side the wind. It looks like the object was staring at me.

I looked at the classroom and everyone in the classroom didn't move. It looks like everyone in the classroom was frozen. I tried to call the girl next to me, but the girl didn’t answered not thing .

The next thing l did was look up to the wind the object was in the wind. The object was moving and roadteding it seem that it lasted only a few sec. Sololy the object moves to the right and left and dispper in the claud.

The was back to normal the bell ring and everyone in the classroom went to lunch. In fourth grade, I saw a student in a UFO’s book and I tolled the student that I seen a object like at. He said, That I was cerise.
