Crescent-shaped object seen in 1971 My sighting took place in early or mid-September 1971. I don't remember the exact date. I was taking an evening graduate level chemistry class on the north side of Indianapolis.
Class had finished and I was walking through the parking lot to my car. It was about sunset. The sky was clear.
Some bright, moving objects in the western sky caught my attention. I remember three objects. Two of them were tracing out a more or less circular path about 180 degrees opposed to each other, as if they were orbiting around a common center and trying to stay as far apart as possible.
The third object was moving in its own oval path to the south of the first two. As the objects moved, they would reflect the setting sun, then the reflection would fade and a dark shape could be seen. This is similar to how the sunlight plays off an airliner near sunset, and at first I thought the objects were planes in a holding pattern.
However, something that's hard to put my finger on held my attention - something unfamiliar about the shape, or maybe the way the objects seemed to glide or float, different from the way a plane flies. They also didn't seem to bank as they turned. I could hear no sound or see any lights on the objects.
As I continued to watch, the third object, the one farthest to the south, started to move east, directly toward me. It passed almost directly overhead and continued east until it was lost in the dusk. As it passed overhead I got a good look at it.
The main part of the object was crescent-shaped and seemed to be made of a dull-finished material. It looked dull red as it was overhead. Projecting back from the center of the crescent was a sort of stubby rectangular "fuselage" that was highly reflective, like polished metal.
This was the part that reflected the sun. There was no sign of a tail assembly of any kind or engines. There was no sound, contrails, or lights, nor could I see any windows.
I remember the object seeming to be in the size range of an asprin tablet to a dime held at arm's length. It's hard to estimate the object's altitude and true size. As I said, it was about sunset, but due to buildings and trees I couldn't tell if the sun had actually gone below the horizon.
My first impression was that the sun was down, and the object was very high to catch its last rays, which meant it had to be huge. If the sun had still not set, the object could have been lower and smaller. As the object went out of sight, the first two objects were still circling in the west.
I'd guess the whole observation lasted about five minutes. I don't know if anybody else in the parking lot saw the objects or not, and I was too fixed on observing to call anybody's attention to them. I never reported the incident, only told a few family members.
While this is an old sighting, I thought it might be of interest. ((NUFORC Note: Date in September 1971 is approximate. PD)).

stars moving in the night sky we were all sitting outside with a few neighbors when one of them noticed a strange star in the sky we all looked up and saw the star move thinking that it was an airplane. that's when the light or star stopped moving and then seperated and became two stars it paused for a moment and then went back together. after it went back together it vanished right before our eyes.
I was young and didn't really know what to think. my parents have always believed in ufo's and the such and I never have known what to believe I'm 40years old now and I still don't know what to think but my father asked that I report this and tell the story of what happened that night. later that night, after I went to bed, I woke up and saw a bright light coming from outside.
I just thought that it was early morning and went to use the restroom. but then we heard something that woke dad up and when we went outside our dog had pasted away. what was strange was that it looked like he had a broken neck.
I don't know just doing what I am asked hope this helps ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the event is approximate. PD)).

summer '71 southern Indy spacecraft sighting by 7 people Summer of 1971 I was a teenaged camp counselor at Waycross Episcopal Church Camp near Morgantown, Indiana. It was a camp in the hilly, wooded area of southern Indiana. We had just put the campers to bed in the 6 cabins and 7 of us counselors (ages 17-23) were sitting on the bathhouse steps talking quietly, as we did every night for an hour or so after the kids went to bed.
We could see all 6 cabin doors from the bathhouse steps and a wooded hill rose behind the cabins. Off to our left and on a small hill (in the mowed area of the camp) was the camp owner's ranch house. Suddenly a ham-can shaped flying object came over the hill behind the cabins and flew past us to stop and hover over the owner's house.
It was about the size of the house and it had white-yellow lights running around the side of the "ham can". We were all shocked and we stood up and grabbed each other, asking what we should do. Two of the female counselors and one of the male counselors started crying and we were all talking at once.
The craft hovered silently over the house for maybe 30m seconds. Then it rose up in the air and then zipped at an amazing speed back where it came from, over the hill behind the cabins. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date of sighting is approximate.
PD)).

Day Light Sighting! As young boy playing outside, seen 2 silver round crafts high in the sky, being chased by 2 fighter jets. I was born on March 27, 1959 I cannot remember the exact date, between 1970-1972, I was between the ages of 11 -13. My cousin and I were playing on some foam filled mesh bags, used by pole vaulters, at the local high school football field.
It was in the afternoon, a warn partly cloudy day. If I would not have been looking at the sky at the exact time I did I would not have seen them. Laying on my back looking at the clouds ( day dreaming) I seen 2 silver objects, side by side, coming out of this one cloud.
At first I thought they were planes? But then I noticed they were round (no wings). So then I thought they were so high in the sky that they appeared round, still thinking they were planes. Then I thought if they were that high in the sky, would they not have vapor trails? Still watching them slowly cross the sky, I got my answer! Out of the same cloud they had came out of were 2 fighter F4's (I think) chasing them! At that time I thought WAIT A MINUTE THOSE ARE AIRPLANES, WHAT ARE THE OTHER 2 ?!!! I continued to watch as the 2 silver round objects entered another cloud, with the 2 jets following behind them.
They both disappeared into the same cloud. Not really understanding what I had seen I rolled over to ask my cousin if he had seen this? He was looking at another part of the sky, and did not see it. Rolling back over and tring to find the exact place they had entered the cloud I seen the same 2 jets flying back out of the cloud the same spot the entered it, heading in the exact opposite direction, as if they lost the 2 silver round crafts in the cloud and were now heading home.
I took me 25 years to realize how important this sighting was, to me. I always remembered it but never really thought about the importance of it. I have always been fascinated with ufo's in fact the reason my Mom said I did not do well in school ( at that time) was I was always thinking about ufo's and Star Trek !!!!! I also have another sighting I think I witness but I cant remember it? But I know it happened! And another time I woke to find 2 ceatures standing beside my bed ( I think? or was it a dream ?) It seem every time I read one of" Whitley Strieber's" books I have strange things happen !!! ((name deleted)).
