"like a garbage can lid with a piece of watermelon on top", hovering over the road. The incident involved a man and his wife and seven-year-old daughter. It occurred east of Vincennes, in a subdivision area.
The primary witness (who we will refer to as "Mr. W", a good friend and neighbor of my brother Steven), was in the process of packing for a trip. He was interrupted by his daughter who claimed she saw a strange object in the sky.
Mr. "W" and his wife went outside and saw the object, as well. He re-entered the house to get his 7x50 binoculars, and when he emerged, the object was now much closer.
He described it as a metallic, disc-shaped craft, and "like a garbage can lid with a piece of watermelon on top", hovering over Wheatland Road. The estimated size was 30' in diameter. The witnesses also stated emphatically that someone else MUST have seen it, also.
"They had to, it was so low." At the end of the 90 second period of observation the object finally dived and arced out of sight behind a tree line. Estimated range: 1-4 miles.

Object blended with dark, bright light as if daylight, left mark on ground, humming/whirl deep loud sound. Dear Sirs: The area, though I’m not quite sure was part of the Reynolds farm land some time ago. This is not giving away an address or specific location, but of an idea of explanation on why the event occurred where it did.
This occurred in the summer of 1970. In the middle of the night, a bright light start coming toward our house. It was a steady white and bright light coming down on an angle extremely slow and quite steady.
Because the light shown directly into my bedroom window I thought at first it was a motorcycle. I complained about the light just hovering across the street, but it remained there as I peeked out the window. The center of the window frame and a tree could have blocked a lot more information.
I remember saying freakin turn already. Then I realized it wasn’t a motorcycle, but a space ship. Its color blended in with the surroundings.
Possibly due to the extreme brightness of the ships lighting. It made a very soothing hum with a slight whirling sound to it. The sound resonating from it could possibly help keep people asleep, if not for the extremely bright light in my eyes.
Please note: At the time I was 14, and terrified because of all the horror stories displayed on television. At the time I thought of waking my parents, but I figured they’d think I was a nut case and tell me to go back to bed. I distinctly remember uttering, “Don’t take me.
” Dropped my legs off to the side and covered my head as if the bed was made up. In the morning, I went to investigate. If it was meant to be something of evidence would show.
In fact, the ship left about a five foot light gray colored prefect circle on the scrubby ground. The sparse 1 to 3 inch grass in and at the circles line was burned black and curled. The weeds, like dandelions were burned on the edges of the leaves but not all the way through.
There was a circular patch of tan colored hay grass which had its shaft striped of leaves so as only the interior of the grass stem was left. The grass stood perfectly straight up, and the top looked more like wheat than hay grass tops. The ship's calling card.
I haven’t measured the distance from the gray circle to approximately where the light was, yet. However, best guess at this time would make the ship approximately a minimum of 50 feet plus. PS: My father noticed the stop sign was lifted very high up.

Unknown Radio Broadcast 1970 *Not a Sighting*. I recorded something off AM radio in 1970, when I was 10 years old. Unfortunately it was on cassette tape and the thing broke years ago, (it's gone/lost).
It went on for about a half hour before I couldn't stand listening any longer. The next time I turned on the radio a normal sounding, (Chicago?), symphonic station was playing. I haven't heard anything like it before, or since that time.
It was very scary, repetitive, yet always different. I think it must have been some form of music. There was some kind of pig creature talking/or perhaps singing.
It made a guttural sound that no human could possibly make, (it sounded like it had a massive chest cavity). In the background was a constant overwhelming clanging, coupled with a buzzing that seemed to fade in and out. Occasionally I could pick out what sounded like human screams in the background.
Like someone in excruciating pain, or someone suddenly facing some dreadful unavoidable consequence. There was tons of ambiance. Ambiance everywhere, in the pig man's voice, the buzzing and clanging, even in the screams buried far off in the background somewhere.
I know the AM band can skip, but I have to believe this was something different. It was either a very strange broadcast for 1970 and the radio station it was found on; or was it something beyond this world? I am sorry I do not know what frequency it was. My dad changed the station to listen to the WGN grain prices.
I remember the radio station indicator being slightly right of center, I'm sorry I cannot be more specific. I would definitely recognize this if I could hear it again. The problem is, it seems to be gone, and it has been 41 years now.
