Indiana UFO Sightings in 1980

Two objects seen one at close range in November of 1980 In 1980 I was an unemployed construction worker living in north central Indiana. I lived in a rural area with my closest neighbors being a mile away. The road I lived on was a dirt road not very often traveled by others.

It was a warm night in November (for Indiana) and there was no wind at all. It was a new moon so it was a great night to go fox hunting so I got my shotgun and red head lamp and started to the field. I had to cross two triangle shaped fields, one was approximately 500 yards by a quarter mile the 2nd field was approximately 300 yards by a quarter mile.

As I stepped into the first field I looked up and saw two red lights about 100 feet apart. I knew there were two radio towers in that direction so I did not give it any thought. It was about midnight and very dark so I did not look up again until I entered the next field.

When I did look up the lights had changed directions. The lights had made a right turn and now were crossing in front of me heading south at a very slow speed. The craft was over the fence row that separated the 2nd & 3rd fields.

The field I was entering was 300 yards across and the craft was about 200 feet up. When I saw the craft it scared the hell out of me. I got behind a big tree and turned my light off.

It was a still night and the craft made no sound at all. It was 80-100 feet across and shaped oblong with two red lights on the outer edges. I saw no windows or any other lights I watched from behind the tree for 15 minutes or more, the craft seemed to stop once and then moved on.

When it got to the long end of the field it turned right and slowly moved off out of sight. I stood there for a while trying to decide what I should do go hunting or go home. I was 24 and needed the money so I went hunting.

I went into the third field and set up in the middle on top of a hill. As I sat there not able to take my eyes off the sky I saw another craft a mile or so away. It was also going very slow and was zig zaging between the houses.

I watched this one for an hour and a half by that time it was close to 2 AM. I decided to give up on fox hunting and go home for the night. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate.

Crystal clear view of object-very mechanical and unimaginably fast. WHILE WATCHING TV, MY BROTHER SITTING BY THE WINDOW JUMPED UP QUICKLY AND LOOKED OUT THE WIDOW IN DISBELIEF. HE SAID, EXCITEDLY, THAT HE NOTICED A BRIGHT LIGHT IN THE LARGE BEAN FIELD SITUATED BEHIND OUR HOME.

HE SAID THAT HE SAW IT RISE SLIGHTLY AND THEN COME TOWARD OUR HOUSE AT AN INCREDIBLE SPEED AND THAT IT WAS WELL LIT. HE THEN SAID THAT IT SEEMED TO FLY OVER OUR HOUSE. CURIOUS, I LEAD HIM OUTSIDE THE FRONT DOOR TO SEE IF WE COULD GET A GLIMPSE OF IT COMING OVER OUR HOUSE.

THE SKY WAS CRYSTAL CLEAR AND I SAW NOTHING--I THOUGH MAYBE HE HAD WITNESSED A HELICOPTER RISE OUT OF THE FIELD. SUDDENLY, WHEN LOOKING BACK TOWARD THE HOUSE WE BOTH WITNESSED ANOTHER CRAFT, CYLINDRICALLY SHAPED WITH LIGHTS ON IT COME FLYING UP OVER OUR HOME FROM THE SAME DIRECTION (THE REAR OF OUR HOUSE). I ESTIMATE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS APPROX.

1 TO 2 MILES HIGH AND A BIT LARGER THAN A CITY BUS. I DO NOT KNOW IF IT WAS ANOTHER CRAFT OR THE SAME ONE CIRCLING AROUND OR SOMETHING. I CAN TELL YOU THIS-IT FLEW SO QUICKLY TO A POINT ABOVE OUR HOUSE THAT IT WAS MIND BOGGLING-IT LEFT A LIGHT TRAIL AND AMAZINGLY STOPPED, I MEAN LIKE, INSTANIOUSLY--SO QUICKLY THAT YOU WOULD THINK THAT THE OCCUPANTS WOULD HAVE BEEN THROWN THROUGH THE WINDOW.

IT HOVERED ABOVE US FOR A FEW MOMENTS, AS IF IT WERE OBSERVING US AND THEN IT ARCHED UPWARD THE RIGHT OF THE MOON AND FLEW AWAY AT A SPEED UNIMAGINABLE. LITERALLY THE SPEED OF LIGHT. WE WATCHED IT TWINKLE OUT OF SIGHT IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE.

ASTOUNDED WE CALLED THE LOCAL POLICE, WHO INSTEAD OF TREATING US AS PRANKSTERS, ASKED US TO WAIT UNTIL THEY RETRIEVED THE PROPER FORM (YES, THEY HAD A FORM FOR UFO ENCOUNTERS). THE POLICE SAID THAT THEY GET MANY CALLS AND DOCUMENT THEM ALL. I SWEAR TO ALL WHO READ THIS THAT IT IS TRUE AND THAT HAD YOU WITNESSED THIS AS CLEARLY AS WE DID YOU WOULD BE FASCINATED.

I was laying on my dad car looking up I saw a silver craft in the sky as clear as day on sycamore street in Evansville, Indana.

Bright Spherical light seen over Hancock County field, disappears I was very young when this happened but the event was witnessed by three other people including my mother, my older sister, and my older brother. In the evening hours roughly between 8:00 and 9:00 P.M.

in the summer of 1980 or 81 (the year is sketchy for me because I was only about 5 years old at the time) My mother, brother and I were on our way to pick up my older sister from a friends house on the backroads of Hancock County, Indiana. It was only a few miles from home on the way back when my mother stopped the car and turned off the motor and began frantically rolling down the window. My brother and I were in the backseat and my sister had shotgun.

My brother and I enquired as to why we stopped and my mother told us to look through the windshield directly in front of us. Upon looking ahead all four of us saw what appeared to be a large round white light moving very slowly and low to the ground from right to left crossing the road in front of us. My mother was trying to get the window down to see if it made a noise, it appeared not to.

When it finally reached the other side of the road above a field the object blinked out like someone flipping a switch and as quick as it appeared it was gone. We were all in awe and a little frightened by this. We did not report this to anyone outside our family, my mother being worried we might become the town kooks or something but we found out later we were not the only ones who witnessed this object.

Apparently a farm family had a terrifying experience a little earlier that evening and had reported it to some sort of investigators I am not sure who, and a burned circular imprint was found in a field close to the family's farm. To the best of my recollection this object somewhat harrassed the family by hovering near the home for quite a long time. I believe this sighting was reported and could maybe be found in some Greenfield newspaper archives.

I have always wanted to report this sighting because the farmer family were not the only witnesses to this astonishing occurence. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date of sighting is approximate. We will invite the witness to attempt to locate the articles.

Very bright green light without sound moved over me and my car from a wooded area about a 1000 ft. up. I had just left my brothers house on new years eve late that night.

The new year had been in only about an hour. As I got about a mile away from my brothers home, I noticed this "very bright light" in the distance, coming out of the sky and going down to the ground. I didn't pay it any attention until I got closer to the source about two more miles towards home.

As I came up on this main street, this bright light came out of the sky again, and I thought it was a police hellicopter on some kind of patrol. But then, "I notice, there was NO noise coming from the light at all" and the light was "GREEN", and it was glowing on me, my whole car, and around the area I and my car was in, about a 20 feet area. I looked at my car, and it was green inside and out, and freen all over me.

It was so strange because no one else one on the mostly busy road but me. The quite bright green light withdrew back up in the air to the source, and then vanished. One of the strange things of it was there was a great "silent" during the whole thing, no noise of any motor, just silent.

Later in that week, I noticed others on the t.v. news across the nation noticed the very same thing as I did, the bright light with a green glow that was too bright to look at.

I didn't tell my wife about it til about a month later.
