Washington UFO Sightings in 1980

I was working on a project for a class at Washington State University in the middle of the Palouse. My boyfriend and a friend of ours were with me. During a break I was standing outside having a cigarette when I noticed a light above the horizon.

It was full dark and the light was bright enough to catch my attention but not so bright as to stand out particularly. I became aware that the light I saw was reflecting blue and red. It was like the colored lights were on too of a disc that was tilting upwards periodically and obscuring the lights.

I was trying to figure out whether the lights were from a satellite or perhaps from Venus. I am not an astronomer and have no expertise in this field. I was joined by my friend and boyfriend.

After a few minutes on of them also remarked on the odd colored item in the sky. I acknowledged that I saw it too and we began to discuss what it might be. All of a sudden the object grew brighter and performed a zig zag maneuver at! a high rate of speed.

I asked if they had seen that and what it could be. As we continued to watch we could see more clearly the rim of a curved edge tilting upward periodically and obscuring red and blue cycling lights. If it weren't for the shape and bizarre movements I would have said it was a plane.

But this thing hung motionless I. The sky except for the waxing as nd waning of the light. It made additional zig zagging maneuvers as we watched for maybe three minutes.

It then dropped straight down below the horizon and disappeared. A couple of seconds later two military jets flew over the area in a criss-crossing pattern.

3 silver, shiny, cigar-shaped craft over Discovery Bay, WA, hovered, accelerated at incredible rate, and disappeared. I was driving east on Highway 101 on the west side of Discovery Bay in Jefferson County, WA. It was about 10 AM and the sky was clear blue and sunny.

I was looking east but the sun was more to the south/southeast. I saw 3 stationary, cigar shaped objects hovering over Discovery Bay in a north/south orientation, so I was seeing them from the side. They were only about 1-2 miles from me and at about 800-1000 feet of elevation.

Each was probably about 150’ long and 30-40’ in diameter. They were very shiny silver metal, perfectly smooth, almost like liquid mercury, but they held their cigar shape perfectly. They were symmetrical from front to back.

There was nothing on the outside other than the very shiny, reflective metal. No lights or windows, no fins or engines, no wings or antennas. They hovered for maybe 10-15 seconds, then they started to move south at a fairly slow rate of speed.

They all moved at the same time, at the same speed, but they weren’t visibly attached to each other in any way. Then after proceeding south for maybe a mile or so, they suddenly turned to the east and in a split second they sped up to the fastest I have ever seen anything move and almost instantly disappeared. The turn and acceleration were virtually instantaneous.

I never believed or disbelieved in UFOs prior to this incident. I was 20 years old and hadn’t given it much thought. Ever since this incident, I know they exist because I saw them with my own eyes and they were not anything of this world.

They were far too fast, advanced, and different from anything created by humans, especially at that time (and even still). Some people have said to me, "Maybe they were jets from NAS Whidbey." No they were not! I grew up on the waterfront of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and saw all the various craft from NAS Whidbey many times.

Spotted glowing disks off to east over Mukelto area. They were pulsating. Suddenly flashed, blinked, rose straight up & half of them flew in an easterly direction.

remaining just went straight up and vanished. It was definitely not afterburners on jet aircraft. No sound of any type of jet or rocket engine.

August, 6 p.m., clear day, UFO at 1000 ft altitude, airspeed approx.

150 knots, circular, no sound, black color., six witnesses., One UFO on a clear August day.

UFO shaped oval shaped, sort of like rain drop up side down, black with iridecent red glow. Object was approx. 1000 feet to 500 feet altitude.

Object was observed approx 1/2 mile distant and coming on a direct line over the back yard. It did not pass directly overhead,but at about 80 degrees (10 degrees to the right of overhead). Air speed was about 150 knots, (not like an air balloon which drifts with the wind), it was still day, no clouds, winds aloft were negligble.

Object approached from the north and continued due south, no sounds. I am retired from the U.S.

Air Force and have 3500 flight hours in the B-52 aircraft. In all the years of flying, I never observed any UFO sightings. Myself and my 3 brothers, my 12 year old son and my 11 year old nephew.

My age at the time was 44 years old, brothers all in the same age range. My vision is 20/20 at the time. I had been retired from the USAF three years.

All of us witnessed this sighting. I did not report this at the time as I did not know who to call. I did call the FAA at the time, but they had no radar returns on the local SEA/TAC radar.

White Saucer in the Gifford Pinchot National Forrest I was working for the forest service at the time, right before going into the US Army. We (the work crew) was camped out about seven or eight miles in from the road, up in the mountains. After eating, and after sitting around the fire and talking, I stayed up while the others crawled in their tents and went to bed.

I went out to the edge of the meadow, to where my tent was pitched, to watch the stars for a while before crashing myself. After a while standing there, I saw a very bright/white saucer-shaped object come flying slowly over the tree line at the East side of the clearing, moving from North to South. I was facing East, and the Moon was to my rear.

I couldn't really tell how big it was, because there wasn't really anything to judge it by.I couldn't tell how far off it was, only that I saw it over the tree line. It was bigger than the moon in my field of vision though.

When I first saw it, I started yelling for the other guys on the crew to get out of their sleeping bags and get outside.I didn't want to be the only one to see it. They just started yelling back "what.

what".and I just kept yelling "get out here now".by the time they got out.

it had already flown South down below the tree line.so I had them stay out for a while to see if it would take off again.but we didn't see that happen.

It was totally silent.no engine noise or anything. The object was white.

white like a florescent light.with clear/sharp edges. Curved on top and curved on the bottom, lines meeting at each end to form sharp points.

Cylinder UFO Sighted in Seattle, Washington I was taking my dogs in my yard, noticing that there were a few planes in the sky, when far off and up in the sky I saw a long white completely straight object that looked like it was a white stick floating in the sky. At first I thought it was exhaust from a plan, but as I looked closer, I saw that it was completely straight and appeared like it could be a floating cylinder in the sky, maybe about the length of 3 or 4 planes - hard to judge distance and actual size. I stared at it for about 2 or 3 minutes, when I realized I should run inside to grab my phone to take a picture, I usually have my phone on me at all times! 20 seconds later when I came back it was gone.

I think it left cause it knew I was gonna take a picture! My first ufo sighting! I'm excited.

A bright light orb, flies in a Z pattern. I was laying in our back yard. It was a clear night and I was looking at the stars.

All of a sudden, this round light raced across the sky. It appeared to be in our outer atmosphere. The light was as bright as the stars, but the size, if I held a No.

2 pencil out, the size was the roundness of the eraser. Measuring from where I was, it travelled a straight line about eight inches, and then stopped, and at an angle like a V, travelled another straight eight inches, and stopped, and a V again, travelled another eight inches, and then disappeared. The pattern was a Z pattern.

That is it. I can not identify it. It was way to fast for a helicopter, Jet, or even a rocket.

Plus it stopped for an instant and changed directions. Twice. So it was not a meteor, and it was not a satellite.

Small disc shaped object dropped into view less than 40 feet away from observers. I know what time it was exactly because I had just watched our local AM Northwest television program. My 3 1/2 year old were sitting in our front room facing the picture window.

She was standing on the couch beside ne and I had my arm sort of around her. A disk/saucer shaped object dropped straight down into our line of vision. It was in our neighbors yard, in front of their house about 4 feet above the ground.

That image is pretty much burned into my brain and I can still clearly recall what I saw that day.The object was not more than about 5 feet across and about 2 1/2 to 3 feet deep. It was a sort of mottled green camoflauge color and had what looked like writing on the side.

Except the stick figure lettering looked like Egyptian/Arabic/Russian type of script. The object hung in place for a couple of minutes and then it moved straight up past the window frame where I could see it. I was so stunned that the time seemed to creep by, but I'm sure the incident was not more than two minutes.

I could not believe what I had seen. It seemed impossible. I immediately turned to my daughter and asked her if she had seen anything and she said she saw an upside down turtle shell.

She got the shape right. The lower side was slightly more curved than the top side. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate.

1980 Sighting with Memory Loss Seattle, Washington at Boeings & I-5 It was 5:30 AM. My mother, son and I were traveling Southbound on I-5 on our way to pick up my brother to go fishing. I was driving and felt a very strong vibration traveling up my arms from holding the steering wheel.

This vibration was so strong that I could feel it in my chest as well. There was no sound. We were passing Boeings, which is a small, private airport for private and smaller commercial planes.

I leaned forward to look up through the windsheild (I was driving an Oldsmomile that had a deep, slanted windshield and it was necessary to lean forward to view the sky). I witnessed a large (about 1/2 the size of a football field) saucer shaped UFO. I remember it being a pewter color,a dull silver, rather than the shiny description I have since read about.

There were "running lights" flashing on the underside of the craft - much like the "chasing lights" now available for Christmas Tree lights. I remember them being blue in color. The UFO was a little higher than the freeway street lights (VERY close) and almost directly above our vehichle.

I remember yelling out in shock and excitement, "Mom, it's a UFO.Oh My God, it's a UFO!". I remember making the decision to pull over to the shoulder of the road.

As I navigated over, I remember seeing 6 - 7 other cars parked on the shoulder of the opposite side of the freeway - they would be heading Northbound. I do not recall seeing anyone in or near-by their vehichles. I do not remember seeing any cars on either the freeway or on the shoulder of our side of the freeway - Southbound.

This memory was lost for 3 years! One day, I was doing a mindless task - dusting furniture - and recalled the sighting. It was in Technocolor and VERY clear.only 3 years later! I called my mother, who was living in Alaska and asked "When we were going to pick up my brother to go fishing 3 years previous.

what did we see?" Her answer was instantanious, "A UFO." I asked if she'd recalled this or had told anyone about it previous to my call. Her answer was "No.

" Neither my mother nor I are the type of people to keep this memory a secret. we would have told close friends and family members. We didn't.

We couldn't! We had had our memories blocked somehow. When I recalled the sighting, my memorie goes from seeing the UFO to being in a rented rowboat at in Point Defiance Sound (located in Tacoma, Washington), our fishing destination. We were caught in a rip-tide and I recall all 4 of us having to lay flat in the boat to avoid being tossed into the sound by the extreme bobbing of the boat encountered in this rip-tide.

After my mother and I discussed this incident, I called my brother and asked him if he could remember if my mother, son and myself were late in arriving for our fishing date. He couldn't recall, as it had been 3 full years after this trip. Neither my mother nor I recall seeing anything other than the UFO.

Place of occurrence: Carnation, WA. I'm not exactly sure of the year, maybe 1979 or 1980, and I remember my grandfather and I were standing at an upstairs window before going to bed - I believe we were facing East. We were looking out over a dark field.

The Tolt River ran on the West side of the house and was behind us. It was a clear night beacause the stars were shining. All of a sudden multiple bright lights appeared in the sky and moved very fast back and forth across the sky.

They were lit spheres that seemed to dart a long distance across the sky in less than a second! The lit objects moved horizontally and vertically at a very fast speed. I remember watching this occurrence for about 5 minutes until the objects zoomed upwards and outwards at an extreme rate of speed into the night sky and out of sight. We went to bed that night completely amazed and unsure what we had witnessed.

Huge Silver Upside down V shaped craft hovering over field in broad daylight I recently was discussing a UFO encounter with a friend of mine, as he has significant interests and participates in research on the subject, and he suggested getting online and looking for websites, (such as this one) that had listings and reports by state, region, shape, etc. I was looking thru the Washington state region, around the mid to early 1980's, to see if anyone else had ever seen what I am going to describe. TO my great surprise, and genuine startled sensation, a person in Rochester, (which is not too far from where my stepfather and I originally saw this UFO, in Ethel, WA) described a very similar shaped craft and an unusual time disorientation feeling both my stepfather and I had experienced after the craft departed.

For whoever wrote about the V shaped craft, I want you to know, you are not alone in seeing this. Both my Stepfather and I saw it, and we saw it within very close proximity and in broad daylight. Here is my account of the incident: My stepfather was picking me up from a friend's house at the top of the Hill on an old country road called Larmon road about 1 mile east from where the road meets into Hwy 12.

I remember I had rode the school bus up to my friend's house that day to go play on his go-cart, as it meant I wouldn't have to try and ride my bike up that incredibly steep hill. We had left my friend's house and we were driving East back towards the hill, That is when my stepfather turned to me in the passenger seat and said quite casually, "Look, a UFO." My reply was "yeah, right", until I looked past him and out the driver's car door window, then I actually saw it.

My stepfather slowed down the car as we saw looked in disbelief and eventually came to a stop there on the road. There it was this huge upside down "V" shaped silver metallic craft. It was hovering no more than 15 feet above the grass in an empty cow pasture right off to the left of the road.

I remember just sitting there in the front seat, looking at it, in total disbelief as to what we were both seeing. It was there, in a field belonging to my friend's grandparents facing North of the road. It cast a giant shadow on the ground, but I remember it looking as if it were just hanging there in the air, it was impossible for our eyes to comprehend, as it defied gravity, just hanging there.

The top of the "V" was facing towards the sky. And in the center, I remember a circular domed area, and what looked like domed windows. It was not a plane, as there was no noise, and this craft was a lot larger than a regular plane, or even a jumbojet, it was very big.

The house of my friend's grandparent's was just to the right of where it hovered, and it made the house look like a shed in comparison. We were probably no more than 150 ft from where it hovered above the pasture. I remember seeing the grass below it reflecting on the tips of both sides of the V.

It had lights, green, red, and blue. I remember seeing the green light the most coming from the centermos! t point of the craft, where I had believed to have seen windows on the craft. The light got intensely bright, and after that, I remember being suddenly startled and then suddenly looking out the window of my passenger window, as if something was there, I for a moment thought there was something there.

It was at this time that time seems to have skipped on us. We both felt as if some serious time had passed since first encountering the craft, that we had something like a time hiccup is the best I can describe the sensation. Like we hiccuped and we moved ahead in time, like we had been gone for hours, but somehow equated out to no time loss at all.

I have no idea if we were abducted, as I have no memory past looking out my passenger door window, I just remember being very startled and was compelled to look away from the light. After I saw there wasn't anyone there, I looked back at the craft, and it was gone. Suddenlt there was a noise, a very loud thundercraking sonic boom type of noise, but when we got out of the car to see if it had made the noise, there was nothing visible in the sky.

For a good five minutes, we sat on that road looking at a craft that was in no way shape or form anything I have seen before or since. It was huge, and it made no noise. We proceeded down the hill towards home and went back into the house.

When we got into the house, my mother asked quite sternly where we both had been, and we both said we just came straight down the hill. She said that it had been well over an hour when my stepfather had gone up the hill to pick me up. We lived no more than 2 miles from my friend's house.

We never reported it, but not long after that incident, My stepfather somehow developed a very serious and debilitating brain tumor and died three years later. The effects of the tumor started to a few days after we saw that craft. I do not know if this was somehow connected, but it did appear very strange when the right side of his body went dead and he started having seizures not long after our encounter.

So, to whoever saw this same shaped craft, you are not alone, My stepfather and I saw it as well. And I believe something else might have happened to us. Although I have always been very healthy, I have the feeling that something else occured that day.

Back in the late 70s or early 80s my family was sitting in the living room eating hotdogs and beans. I vividly remember this night.We had the front windows open.

Metal screens. I know they were metal because out cat scratched one up and it had previously cut my finger. So we were sitting there and a ball of light about the size if a volley ball floated in through the window, through the metal screen.

It looked kind of solid almost like an old fashioned light bulb. We could clearly see the inside looked almost like a faint sparkler. It stopped, changed directions and headed towards my brother.

My mother yelled at him and pulled him away. It stopped and went straight back out the metal screen leaving no marks and floated off. From that day forward all 4 if us have had very bad dreams.

Mine is of a solid gray black wall that almost looks like stone. I physically feel magnetic. Like pushing to magnets together the wrong way.

They stopped pretty much when i became an adult but every once in awhile out of nowhere i will get the feeling. Even in the daytime. The rest dreamed pretty much the same but different shaped.

Always the same feeling. When i do get the feeling its also a feeling of dread and anxiety. Im now 47 yrs old.

I was watching one of these popular alien shows on tv a few weeks ago and low and behold they talked about a huge round glowing sphere over out state around the same time as our experience. They claimed people said hundreds of small spheres cane off the big one and flew away. After i saw that show i had to tell my story.

I will never forget this. I know it want ball lightening. No way!.

This was seen in 1979 or 1980. Its been a long time ago. I have just recently been able to talk about it.

It was a huge Boomerang craft. Totally silent. It was going so slow I thought it would fall out of the sky.

I have time loss and had an implant so I assume I was abducted but have no memory of this. I have proof of the implant. But something made me throw it away.

My dentist has Xrays of it. It came out when I had teeth next to the sinus. I do not remember the craft going away.

I have since lost contact with the 2 others. But last I knew one remembered it the other did not. This is very odd since she was the one to tell me to run outside to look at it.

Maybe she just didnt want to remember I dont know. This craft was moving from the south going north. What Id like to know is.

Was there ever anyother reports of seeing this humungous craft besides me? Thank you…((name deleted)).

It was very shiny silver and 2 Army helicopters followed it. I was waiting for the bus on a Monday. There were about 6 people with me, but they saw nothing.

I was at 92nd and Greenwood. As I waited, I looked up at the sky. I thought I saw a silver bird (seagull).

It was quite far away. As it came closer, I realized it couldn't be a bird because it was too big. It was shiny silver and flew slowly towards me.

Then 2 or more (can't remember) Army helicopters (had camophlage paint on them)came behind it. The craft suddenly dived into some trees and the helicopters followed it. The people with me were frozen (they didn't talk or move).

Suddenly I said, "Did you see that?" One of them said what. I said I think I just saw a UFO. He said, "Why didn't you tell us when it was here?".

Metal triangle seen over Boeing field in 1980. During the first week of April 1980 I saw at 2am a black triangle hovering over the north end of Boeing field near Georgetown just south of Seattle Washington. I was driving in my car on I-5 when I saw what appeared to be a craft as large as a jet fighter with heavy metal struts and no lights on floating soundlessly about 200 feet in the air.

I wanted to stop and observe it but it was as if emanations of fear surrounded the craft. It seems emanations of forgetfulness also came off the machine because I forgot about it until two weeks later when a small article in the Seattle Post Intelligencer reported that a triangular craft was spotted by several people near the Boeing plant between Edmonds and Everett. It seemed to me that either Boeing had developed an antigravity device or had a balloon that looked like it was made of metal or that Boeing was being observed by some sort of an alien craft.
