Connecticut UFO Sightings in 1980

A huge lit-up craft various colors of lights at tree top level traveling at a very slow speed (10 mph) over our heads . My mother and I were traveling a short route home (5 min. ride)from my grandparents house when at a stop sign at the intersection of Arch road and West Avon road A HUGE lit-up craft appeared out of nowhere at tree top height (approx.

50 feet) going very very slow over our car. We got out of the car a looked at it in amazement I have never seen anything like this in my life to date (this happened about 22 years ago I was about eleven, and remeber it very distinctivly). I had made mention that the craft was "lit-up" it had various colors of lights and was traveling at a very slow speed (running speed, 10 mph) it creeped over us heading in the direction of a cow field adjacent to the road we were on.

I was sitting on my front porch and noticed a bright light in the distance over the trees. I mentioned it to my fiance and he said it was an airplane. I said it couldn't be an airplane because I had been watching it for a few minutes and a plane would have been over us by then.

As we watched, the light got brighter and, when the craft got close, we knew it was a UFO. The craft was only about 100 feet over our heads. We called three more family members outside at this point for them to witness what we were seeing.

The craft was HUGE, black and triangular shaped with some lights on the bottom. The craft made a very low, faint humming noise. We watched it go over our house.

As it passed overhead, some helicopters and small planes were following it. Five of us witnessed this sighting. We didn't discuss this until some years later, when we thought how strange it was that, on a warm Sunday evening, on our usually busy street, we were the only ones out to see this amazing thing.

We wonder now if we were maybe "taken" and the memories were erased from our minds. Since then, my son has had sightings where we now live in West Virginia. After our Connecticut sighting there was no mention in the newspapers or TV news of this craft having been seen.

It was as if the craft was there for us to see and only us. This sighting occured at about the same time as the sightings in New York state. We are still profoundly affected by this experience.

multi colored lights over some trees near downtown norwalk ct. It was a warm evening and i was downtown with 4 friends of mine and we were about to get into a car but we were pre occupied looking at a few girls walking our way when out of the corner of my eye i caught a very large oval shaped multi colored flying object of in the distance.id say about 6 blocks away or it seemed that far.

it was silent and i remember that because it was the first thing i noticed besides its colors and shape that really puzzled me because a plane or helicopter that far away would be noisy enough to hear.the sky was clear with no stars or clouds and i got the most eeriest feeling when i saw it.i happened to catch my friend leroy looking right at the same thing i was seeing.

we looked at each other sort of stunned and didnt say anything until later when i pulled him aside to ask if he saw what i saw too.he admitted it but we were afraid to tell anyone due to there disbelief and i didnt want to be embarrassed.i never ever told anyone else about this and i am a sane person and know exactly what i saw that nite.

i wasnt drinking or doing any drugs at all.it was a sight i will never forget.it moved very slowly and was about about 60-70 yards above ground heading toward the groundwithin 10-15 seconds it disappeared behind some trees and i never saw it again.

the lights were blue, green, white and red positioned all around the object evenly with a bright white light on top slightley higher then the others.it was the creepiest experience i ever had and will never forget it!.

Circular UFO with lights around outer edge in night sky It was early summer around 1980. I would have been about 12 years old at the time. It was not long after dark.

Weather was warm with clear skies. I was in the family room of my parent's house, looking out a large picture window. Windows on both sides of the picture window were open to let in an evening breeze.

Directly in front of me above the trees across the street, a large circular UFO flew directly towards my parent's house. The craft was darker than the night sky and could be seen as a circle. The outer circumference of the craft had multi-colored lights all the way around.

Either the craft was rotating as it moved forward or the lights were changing color in a way that mimicked rotation. The craft moved somewhat slower than I would have expected for low-flying light aircraft. The craft's altitude appeared to be below 500 feet.

I estimate the craft was 60 to 100 feet across. I never heard the craft make a sound. As it passed above my parent's house, I ran to the front door and out into the front yard.

I again briefly saw the craft as it went over the treeline behind my parent's house. The light pattern on the craft was very similar to another UFO report I found here, except the lights I saw formed a complete circle around the outer edge of the craft: http://www.ufocasebook.

Round white light moving at animatedly fast rates. while parked at Silver Lake in Berlin, CT, I viewed a blinking light appear approximately a half mile awaw. While blinking at a rate of one blink every 2 seconds, it covered half the distance twice, before halting about 1000 feet over my car.

It then blinked 3 times and then went solid white. From this perspective, it propelled at a lighted blur to an upward point unknown and left a blurred light path in its wake. It took 3 seconds for it to escape sight, and did not return ((NUFORC Note: Source of the report provides no contact information.

light seperated into four parts and flew away at right angles I was looking out the car window and saw what I thought was a planet. There were no other stars or lights in the sky. I could not tell how far away it was.

All of a sudden it seperated into 4 equal size pieces and each flew at perfect right angles and in perfect synchronized time to the four horizons and disappeared. Then there was nothing. It lasted about 5 seconds.

strange craft over house, possible abduction 500 Lights On Object0: Yes I was 15 years old, just got home from school. At approximately 3 pm. I sat down in the den to watch some tv when I heard and “felt” a hum in my ear.

At first I thought it was the tv, so I messed with it, it was not. Then for no reason, I got up and opened the door that lead out to the back porch. As soon I opened the door, the hum got twice as loud.

Once again for no reason I looked up just over the back roof of the house. For a split second I saw a bronze craft hovering just over the roof top. Its hard to explain what it looked like as I only saw it for a fraction of a second.

I remember it being somewhat long in the front and had some type of tail. The next thing I remember was the feeling of waking up after being knocked out. It took me a few moments to get my bearings, when I remembered I had seen something over the roof.

I then looked back up to see what it was and saw the tail end flying over the front of the house. My heart was racing. I ran around ! to the front of the house, but all I saw was a strange looking rolling cloud configuration dissipating up into the sky, and then it was gone.

I went back into the house, it was not approximately 6pm.

Large Cigar shaped object very close. This is my 3rd report on this site. I seem to be one of those people who are fortunate (or maybe unfortunate?) to see these objects.

I am not sure of the exact date, but my best guess is around March 1980. At that time I worked 2nd shift at a small shop in New Milford, Ct., but lived in Waterbury, Ct.

, maybe 30 miles away. I was driving home from work on Interstate 84 around 12:30 A.M.

It was a beautiful night. There was a very bright full moon, and it was perfectly clear. I had just passed though Southbury Ct.

There is a large hill as you come to the exit for Oxford, Ct. From this hill you can see Waterbury in the distance maybe 5-6 miles away. I was driving east, and I was coming down this hill.

I looked to my left over the 4 lane highway. Just above the treeline on the other side of the highway I saw what you would first believe to be a blimp. This object was dark against the bright sky and I could see it clearly.

It looked to be almost 100 feet long, and 15 feet high. It had no undercarriage of any kind, nor wings, or vertical/horizontal stabilizers as blimps usually have. It was round on each end.

It really did not look like a blimp. It was too long and narrow. Most blimps I have ever seen are much fatter than this object was.

It was maybe 150 feet to my left, and was flying VERY LOW. It did not look to be more than 30 feet above the trees that lined the highway. So it was maybe 60-75 feet above the ground.

This object was going east just like me, but slightly faster. I was probably going 65 MPH, I estimate the object to be travelling at around 80 MPH. The first thing I did was roll down my window to see if I could hear it, but all I could hear was the wind blowing past my car.

I left the window down so I could get a good look at it. Fortunately, there was no traffic at all, so I was able to take a pretty good look. What looked extremely strange and shocking about this object is that it had 3 large, perfectly round port-holes on it's underside.

They looked exactly like the port-holes on a ship. They were windows. I could see inside this object.

A blue light shined out of each port-hole downward into the trees. All I could see inside this object was blue light, but I am positive I could see into this object. Then, as the object gained on me, I could see another perfectly round port-hole on it's rear end.

I could also see inside this window. But this port-hole was different. A green light shined out of this port-hole and out behind it.

I was looking into this port-hole. But all I could see was green light inside the object. None of the lights were difficult to look at.

Now, the object was starting to get pretty far ahead of me. Then it did something that amazed me. At the bottom of this long hill the highway curves sharply to the left (north).

When this object came to the curve it made a smooth left turn. It was following the highway! That was a very strange thing to see. By now I was getting to the bottom of the hill myself and the object was getting pretty far away.

I lost it in the glow coming up from Waterbury. There is one more thing I want to say. I know many people mistake common objects for UFO's.

But I have thought about this object for many years, and do not believe I am mistaken. The ONLY object this remotely resembled would be a blimp. But I am sure it was not for several reasons.

1) It did not look like a blimp. I could see it clearly. It had no undercarriage for pilots, nor any wings, vertical or horizontal of any type.

2) It was quiet. I have seen the Goodyear Blimp and other blimps many times. They are quite loud.

You can usually hear them many miles away. Even though I was driving, this object was so close I should have been able to hear it clearly. 3) It was too low.

I cannot imagine anyone flying any aircraft just above the trees like this. Even if the military had some secret aircraft, I sincerely doubt they would fly it at such a dangerously low altitude. 4) It followed the highway.

I guess an aircraft could follow a highway, but I can't imagine why. I made a picture of this object on my computer using Paint. I am not an artist, the colors are not right at all, but it will give you the idea.
