((NUFORC Note: Date of the event is approximate, although the witness probably is correct in his recollection of the date. The first major sighting to occur in a series of sightings, which later were to become known as the "Hudson Valley Sighting," occurred on March 23, 1983, according to "The Encyclopedia of Extraterrestrial Encounters," by Ronald D. Story.
[Please see the NUFORC website for details of that publication.] The Hudson Valley sightings continued into the year 1984. PD)) V shaped UFO tracked for miles by Ct residents (Hudson Valley Connected) This sighting had taking place some time ago near the year 1983.
It was witnessed by hundreds in Connecticut and I had later found out it was first spotted in Lond Island NY. I seems it was tracked form Long Island all the way to Waterbury CT. My sister had received a phone call from a friend saying there was a UFO comming towards our house and it had just passed her house.
Well by the time we had gotten outside a few other calls must had been made because we were not the only ones out there. As we waited more people from the nieborhood came out to see what was going on. To my best count there were more than 25 people outside in the street just in our area.
It did not take long for this object to appear. The houses in the area were all two story and pleanty of tree's that stood a bit higher blocked our vision so we all stood in the street that never reiced much traffic. As this object came into view over the houses no one spoke.
There wasn't much to see as it blocked out the stars and the underside was lightless. No sound from the craft was herd as we looked upon it. You could make out shapes on the bottom but not clearly becuase of the lack of light and it all seemed to be the same color a dull dark grey almost black.
It had taken a close to a minute to travel over us, it moved very slowly but steady. It seemed to be just over the tree tops wich made judging the size nearly impossible because you could not see all of it at once. Like I had said it just blocked out the stars as it passed over us like we wernt there.
As it passed out of sight nobody said a thing and people just seemed to go back to there houses a bit stunned. My grandfather was ranting saying " there's no such thing as UFO's when we received the phone call but after it had passed by he hadn't said much. We went into the house and he turned on the am radio (WICC in Bpt) and we listened as people called in about this object in the sky.
People tracked it all the way to Waterbury and it was said it followed Rt 8 all the way there causing traffic to stop. People got out of there cars on a highway to watch. As it hit Waterbury new reports came in saying it had lights on it and that it was V shaped, something I could not see for myself.
The lights were reported as large white lights and it had hoverd there for some time as hundreds of people watched. If I am not mistaken it left at a very high rate of speed but I did not see this and my memory of what I had herd is a bit cloudy now. My reason for writting this now is to gather more information on this sighting.
I would like to research this further along with a few other sightings around that time. What I need is the exact date and time. I am planing to go to the library to see what I can pull up.
You see this sighting was so huge that the next day it was in all the news papers dressed up as a hoax. It was reported as five ultralight aircraft flying in tight formation with huge lights on them that had come out of a NY airport. I can't speak for the sightings in Waterbury but what I had seen was by no means explained away by this.
I have researched a bit about the Hudson Valley Sightings and I believe these are all linked but this one was seen by far more people than any of them I had read about. I have read many of storys that revolved around this and one even went as far as to speak of the military shooting one down that came on regular intervuls in Long Island. Something of a plasma weapon used to take it down and it was tracked with dobblar radar ( a military radar before used weather forcasters, or so its said) I'm getting a bit off track here but if you have any information on this please post it here.
It will be a great help to me. thank you.

Object next to Tweed New haven airport at tree level. Viewed by most residents of Stewart Street Odject observed by Tweed New haven airport.I was watching cable TV which was just been installed in our area and the movie channel went fuzzy.
suddenly we heard screams. Our neighbors daughter saw the object and got scared. My mother ran to the front door and Object was directly overhead at tree level.
No sound except for ultralow humming/vibration My mother yells UFO! So we run out side and the neighbors are out and were looking at this thing. I can directly see into window of craft. if someone were to be standingin window I would have clearly seen them.
Entire block witnessed event i was 13 yrs old at the time and cant put pieces of event together clearly. lost track of time of event. lived by airport for entire life and had witnessed blimps and other types of aircraft during annual "air show" this was nothing I have ever seen before.
Called airport and they told us they had "hovercraft"in the area. called local news and they never showed up. I know hover craft.
They would have knocked us over with the propulsion.

Saucer or disk moving south to north around sunset, slowly, silent, with lights. I was young when this happened, and I'm not completely sure which year, but around here. It was the middle of summer and there were half a dozen people in the yard, ranging from children to adults, grilling.
This was around sunset, but the sky was still a bit blue. Someone made a remark like "Whats that?" and I looked. It was a saucer with a dome-like structure top and bottom, more wide than tall overall.
From my memory, I was facing basically due west, and it would have been something like 10-20 degrees over the trees/houses if you look west from those coordinates. It moved frame of reference from my left to my right, so approximately moving south to north. It was a fixed sort of motion that I would equate to the smoothness of a steadi-cam or dolly rig in filmmaking terms--ultra smooth, like a very fine train track movement.
Dead silent. The surface was hard to tell as the sun would have been backlighting it, and range was hard to tell but given the clarity of the 'outline' of the physical structure I would put it it ballpark around just south of Mountain Grove Cemetery; I know this area well) for when I lost sight of it. It had a lot of lights from the noted colors in my report in a pattern around its midsection only, so the center/midpoint where top and bottom half of the saucer would meet.
My memory is the lights moved, and it would have been a clockwise motion of rotation given the angle (i.e., from my FOV the lights moved right to left as the UFO moved left to right itself, traveling south to north).
I could not tell anything of the surface that I remember as it was in shadow, but it was absolutely "solid". I would estimate in hindsight its movement speed (again, hard to tell at range) at somewhere around 10-20 miles per hour. The sky was, or seemed, perfectly clear that evening.
A bunch of the adults when it went out of sight behind the building/became partially obscured at #29 on that street ran after it, but quickly returned saying they lost track of it between buildings. That's it.

fireball at night went under car on highway. At night I was driving north on I-91 near Hartford, CT. It was a hot night, probably in July or August.
All of a sudden a small fireball appeared to the left of the car, as if having fallen from the sky. It landed on the road near my car and must have rolled under my car. My friend screamed, "What the H**** was that?" I was scared that it would ignite the gas in the tank and make the car catch fire.
That's all we saw of it, even though I looked in the rear view mirror to see where it went. We never had any explanation of this except that maybe it was a meteorite. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate.
One of two reports from same witness, who elects to remain anonymous. PD)).

Was driving home from work and noticed what I thought was a plane in the sky and I realize it wasn't flying like a plane would fly. It "turned" end over end and then zigzagged. There were white and blue blinking lights around it and it was like watching an old wooden Water Wheel in the Sky but one with lights on the spokes.
I followed it, it was ahead of me over 691 and then it zigzagged and I took the exit to get on 91N to follow it some more. I saw it go over the mt on my right a few exits before exit 19 on 91N.

A triangular shape, Pie Shape with lights on sides that had no sound and was still until it darted off. The sighting was in 1983, some time towards the end of March. I was walking home from my then girlfriend's house.
I would say it was around 9:30 pm I took a short-cut over a hill, it was an open field at the time, at the top of the hill I heard helicopters, that's what made me look up. There were 2 helicopters circling and above them was a triangular shaped object, it was thick, like a piece of pie with lights around the edges. I watched for a while, the triangle didn't move, I started walking home again and but I kept looking back to watch.
I stopped at the park and watched again for a while. Then 3 Jets whooshed in and the “ship” shot off to the North West remarkably fast. For the remainder of the walk I didn't see again until I reached the peak of High Street and I saw it off in the distance, it seemed to be higher and farther away than before.
I didn't see and other planes or helicopters in the sky. When I got home I went upstairs to the back bedroom and looked out the window, (my sisters room). I could see it but is was far away.
I went to my parents bedroom and got binoculars out of my father's closet. I could see it pretty clearly. I'm not sure what happened next, I don't remember if it took off or if I fell asleep.
It's sort of a blank spot in my mind.
