Connecticut UFO Sightings in 1976

Saw a silver disk with white lights move slowly then hover just above treeline and then it disappeared. We were teenage girls (14-15 years old) at a friend's birthday party. We were walking to another friend's house to bring her to the party.

It was a cold, clear night and we were high up on a hill and could see a good portion of the night sky and into the valley below. As we walked down the road, a silver disk/craft appeared to the right of a grove of trees in front of us. It wasn't much higher than the trees.

It was slowly moving in a straight line to the right. It made a quiet, low humming sound and seemed to be rotating with white lights around the middle. We just stopped and stared.

Someone asked what it was. No one spoke after. The disk then stopped moving and just hovered there.

I wasn't frightened but, was totally mesmerized by it. I had never seen anything like it. The disk then began to move to the left at a slow speed and we paralleled it by taking a road to our left.

The disk went behind the grove of trees. I expected to see it again on the other side but, it was gone. We could see for miles and saw airplanes, but the disk was no where to be seen.

We didn't know what to think. I told my parents after the party but, they didn't say much about it. My friends never talked about it again.

Saw a silver disk with white lights move slowly then hover just above treeline and then it disappeared 1976 UFO? I was at a birthday party with my friends and we were around 14-15 years old. It was a cold, clear night in December and, the house was in a neighborhood on a high hill overlooking the valley. We could see the night sky for miles around.

We left the party to walk to another friend’s house to bring her to the party. As we were walking down the road, we noticed a strange disk that was slowly moving from behind a grove of trees. It was moving from left to right in a straight line.

It was close and not much higher than the trees and was a silverish gray color. It seemed to be rotating/spinning with white, rectangular lights around the middle. It made a very low, soft, humming sound.

We just stopped and stared. Someone asked what was it? I was mesmerized and couldn’t believe what we were seeing. I wasn’t scared but, couldn’t figure out what it could be.

The disk then stopped moving and just hovered in place. It seemed to be still spinning. Then it started moving from right to left, back towards the trees.

We took another road to the left to get our friend and we paralleled the disk for a few minutes. Then, it disappeared behind the trees. A few minutes later, I expected to see the disk on the other side of the grove of trees, but it was gone.

We didn’t see or hear it anymore. We could see stars and the blinking lights of planes but, never saw the disk again. We went back to the party and no one said anything more about it.

I told my parents and they didn’t know what to make of it. My friends and I never talked about it again. I thought it might be a blimp but, years later, I saw a blimp and it didn’t look, act or sound anything like the disk did.

I still don’t know what it was but, I’ll never forget it!.

Saw five craft and observed signaling after work. As reported to MUFONCT: After coming home from work I observed a white fluorescent cigar shaped object 60ft high and 35 ft away at closest point. The object was about 20 ft long and about 6' high.

It moved into the southern sky about 1 mi away stayed and burst into a "gigantic sparkler".which then moved in a straight line and exploded two more objects from itself. Those two began to signal me by movements then went past their "mother" --then they began to turn red and blink then disappear over horizon.

I got into my car to chase "mother", as I viewed it thru binoculars I raised the binoculars upward and observed the black crescent UFO which nearly filled my entire field of view. I lowered the bino. and noted that it was several hundred feet in the air.

I ran to my car and encountered a "mystery man" who began to bang on my window. talked with him for a minute then drove to the police station. Upon arriving home, I saw a chevron cloud formation, raised binoculars to one cloud and saw a classic flying saucer (hump above and below center line) which came from cloud with rotating disk and alternate red and green lights attached to disc.

It approached me and looked as if it would hit the house in which I stood--I hid behind storm door and watched saucer float above my neighbors house across the street--about 50 ft away and about 50 ft high. Stepped outside as it veered off to the western horizon, where it hovered.after a few moments it came back towards me, turned on its axis and the rotating dissk turned on end moved to the right and disappeared piecemeal as if moving into a cut into the very sky.

Saw a BIG unknown object in the sky several days or weeks after seeing a smaller object that confounded me. It looked similar to the spaceship on the Boston album. It was beautiful, and I saw it partially obscured by clouds in the sky.

I was so scared (I was 5 at the time) that I ran inside my apartment building and locked the main entrance door and went to my apartment. 1 LARGE object in the sky, and, as I said, similar in look to the spaceship on the cover of the Boston album(their first, and quite a good one, I might add!). By the way, I had never seen the Boston album prior to that (I do not know if it was even released at the time).

When I saw the Boston album for the first time, I was immediately reminded of what I had seen years before. Anyway, there was 1 object, beautiful, with colored lights, and maybe windows. That's all I recall.

I saw no movement in the object. I saw it in the sky, looked at it, and got VERY frightened and ran inside. It was immense in size, because it was high enough to be partially obscured by cumulonimbus clouds that were present, but those clouds offered excellent reference as to the object's size.

In the seconds I looked at the object, it did not move. Then I ran in and locked the door. As I said in my previous report, I would just like to document my sighting in case there were other sightings in that area at that time.

I was walking home from a friends house in chamberlin heights to my house on springdale ave I heard a humming sound I looked up and saw the bottom of a craft it was about 200 feet long I picked up some rocks and started to throw them at it I COULD hear it make a tinny sound then it started to move off toward columbus park it stopped over the park .then it split and a purple sphere shot straight up after that it seemed to head towards beavers pond ((NUFORC Note: Anonymous report. two objects came together in the sky. while attending to cows on a prison farm i saw one triangle in sky. Approx 100 feet above my head.

Silent and stationary. Another floted towards this object andn attached its self to the other. A corrcctions officer who drove by made a statement.

He said if ,"If those things come together," When they did he told me to get into the car and we sped off. He also told me not to say anything because we may be thought of as nuts.

Saw individuals that were not human. This occured at what was then the Casagmo Apartments in Ridgefield (1976) My (ex)wife and I were asleep - it was early Spring and the large sliding window was partly open (an inch or two). A loud buzzing noise woke me (I remember covering my head with a pillow).

I realized that the buzzing seemed to come from inside my head. I went to the window and saw what I thought were 3 electrical company employees (linesmen) at the far side of the parking lot (less than 100 feet from my view). I thought they were electrical linesmen because they had their backs to me and appeared to be wearing hard hats (vey shiny hard hats that looked like chrome).

Each was dressed oddly (I say this because they appeared to be wearing dark "wet suits". Each looked to have on "mittens" as I saw only a "thumb" and what looked to be a mitten like glove. Each of the individuals looked to be 5 feet tall or less.

I said quietly to my wife "what the hell are these idiots doing out there in the middle of the night?" The 3 were clearly visible because they were illuminated by an overhead light source. One "individual" was looking up into the tree line, another was looking very intently at the ground and the third was looking around almost as if keeping a watch. I continued standing at the window behind a very large, potted philodendron plant that we kept in the bedroom.

The three individuals suddenly turned as if they were given a command (right face) and faced directly at the window where I was standing. (Please understand that the bedroom was on the second floor and we had not turned on any lights nor made any noise to attract attention - the buzzing was still quite loud at this point). I felt immediately uncomfortable and crouched down behind the plant.

As the individuals turned toward me, it appeared that one of them had a reflective stripe running down his pant leg (much like the satin stripe on tuxedo trousers). The helmets were no longer visible from the front (only slightly around the perimeter of their heads - for lack of a better description - like an ancient Egyptian headdress). They had unusually large reflective goggles over their eyes (or unusually large reflective eyes).

I asked my (ex)wife to please take a look. She got out of bed and came to the window. My recollection is that the 3 individuals then turned to their right again (all at the same moment).

They all walked as if they were in a strobe light. Two went out of my field of vision (behind the maitenance garage in the parking lot) and one simply "disappeared" from the open field. The overhead light and the buzzing stoppeed at the moment the last individual "disappeared".

I did not tell my Ex what I saw but asked her what she had seen. Her description to me was the same as what I witnessed. She, however, described them as walking away in "slow motion" and she was also unclear as to what happened to the third individual.

We went back to bed. The night was clear prior to the incident but it did rain after the incident. In the morning, I went out behind the garage to see if there were a light source.

There was a fixture but it had not spot light bulbs in it. There were no marks on the ground. I saw no craft and maitained that if it had gone forward, backward or up I would have seen it so it could only have gone into the ground.

I mentioned the incident only to my closest friend who insisted that I get the number for UFO Locater and call them to report it. After 2 weeks, I relented and went to the Ridgefield police and got the UFO Locator 800 number from them. I reported the incident to Locator and asked if anyone else had seen or reported anything unusual that night.

They told me that there had been 26 reports for that same night from Katoonah, NY to Danbury, CT (along the power grid and fault line - which I never knew existed). They subsequently called to interview me about the sighting. When I told them the craft could only have gone "down into the ground or I would have seen it" they asked me if I thought that it could have gone to another dimension or time.

I had not considered that possibility and said so. The memory is still vivid after nearly 27 years. It was suggested to me that I submit to hypnosis to see if I could recall more.

I did in 1981 and had kept a copy of the tape that was made. I heard myself yelling about the individuals looking closely into my face - yelling about their eyes and yelling for help because I was outside of my apartment. I have rarely shared this information with anyone.

meteor like object about 20 feet from us To whom it may concern, For many years I have told the story of a UFO which approached me when I was 5 or 6 years old. No one has taken me seriously because I was so young and could not recall the exact year though I know it was 1975 0r 1976. I remember it was 8pm and my brother and I were having a stick fight (like a sword duel) outside of the house when my Mother (now deceased) went into the house.

While we were playing I noticed a light in the sky and pointed it out to my brother. Within a blink of an eye it was close to 200 feet away from our road and then it dipped down and hovered over our driveway in front of us. Now it was about 20 feet away from us and it looked like a meteor with craters and it changed from orange to white then to red.

It was about the size of a volkswagen bug. It hovered there for a couple minutes and made no sound, absolutely silent. I asked my brother what it was and he said he didn't know.

My brother was 7 or 8 years old at the time, but I recall the UFO better than him. I asked my brother, what if aliens come out of it? That's when we ran to our door which seemed to be locked. My Mom opened the door and said it wasn't locked.

We never saw the UFO again but I recall not getting much sleep that night. Years later I looked in the Newtown Bee (a local newspaper) for articles about it, because others had been witnessing UFOs at the same time, I came up empty handed. I knew it was in the paper because my Mom told my brother and I that it was published.

I know I don't recall dates and ages well but the UFO itself was real and I remember it like it was yesterday. I hope this helps others who may have witnessed the same object in Newtown. I know it WASN'T a meteor because it would have made quite an impact in our driveway.

I now live in a different location not too far from the incident.
