We saw a disc with lights, it appeared to land in nearby woods, observed strange person. Friend and I observed one disc-shaped, dark metallic object that had three separate lights fixed by equal distance underneath unknown aerial object. Object first sighted coming out of the east, then slowly descended into a large wooded area where we could see lights between trees.
When object came overhead it was about 500' to 750' above ground. Glow of underneath lights (red, green, and white) highlited outline of object. We first observed object after exiting my home.
After passing overhead to settle/land in woods nearby (300-400 yards west of home). Lights observed shining inside tree-line. We stood out in vacant field watching this yellow to white glow when we then noticed smaller twinkling white lights zig-zagging in and outside of the treeline.
We ran back towards home when we observed strange person floating near creek, Time noted at home arrival- 7:30PM. Light source in treeline was seen for almost 2 weeks. (Every night I'd strangly be drawn down to watch that light).

Saw two star-like objects, one bluish, theother orange, remain stationary for at least 5 minutes, then, in sequence and at about a 2 minute interval, zig-zag rapidly for several inches, then accelerate in a straight line and fade away. My sister and I hiked to the top of a bald mountain, Black Balsam Knob (about 5800'), in Haywood County in North Carolina. It was a cloudless night with no moon at the time.
We arrived at the top of the mountain about 9:45pm. We had an unobstructed 360 degree view of the horizon. We ate sandwiches as a late dinner, and gazed at the stars, locating several constellations, the Milky Way, etc.
in the clear mountain air. After eating, we lay on our backs and looked at the sky with our 8x35 binoculars. Almost directly overhead, near the constellation Cygnus, we saw two objects that we were uncertain about.
Both were slightly larger than stars, one bluish and one orange-tinted. Neither were familiar to us, though we had been amateur astronomers throughout our youth. They were no brighter than Vega, an Magnitude Order 1star.
We commented to one another about these two objects of which we were unfamiliar. I looked at the orange-tinted one through the binoculars to see if it might be a planet, but could not identify it as such. As I was watching it, the binoculars stable against my eye sockets and my head resting directly on a rock, I observed the object begin to move in a zig-zag pattern toward the southeast, with abrupt near-ninety-degree turns at each zig or zag.
The zig-zags were not large, but were about the distance of the width of my index finger held at arm's length, relative to the stars. After zig-zagging about the distance of the width of my hand held at arm's length, the object accelerated in a straight line for another realtive two inches, then faded from view. The object did not change in intensity of brightness or color during its movement.
The duration of movement was about four seconds. This amazed me, and I exclaimed how cool it was and asked my sister if she saw it. She answered with an anxious yes.
We discussed what it might have been, and she asked for the binoculars. I gave them to her, and we commented on the strange bluish object. As she was watching the bluish object with the binoculars, and I with my naked eye, it proceeeded to move in the same manner as the orange-tinted object, and faded from view.
There were no sounds emanating from either object. We ruled out helicopters due to the no-sound factor, and that we were already at almost 6000 feet. We ruled out airplanes, due to the impossibility of performing the stationary moevement, then the zig-zag.
Same for balloons. While they might have been satelites, this does not explain the erratic and substantial zig-zag movement, nor the change from being a stationary object to being a moving one. They were not comets, as these obviously do not have an apparent movement over that small a time-interval.
They did not behave like meteors, in that they were clearly visible in a stationary fashion for at least five minutes before they moved. We were left with no aceptable explanation in identifying these. My sister was a rising junior at a state university, and I was a rising freshman at UNC.
Neither of us took drugs or alcohol.

Saw UFO My brother and I were out side talking when we heard all the dogs in the neighborhood begin barking and howling. We then saw a strange lights hovering and moving in a straight up and down movement and side to side unlike any normal aircraft is capable of. We were at my father's farmland.
All the cattle came running off the hillside and trying to alll squeeze in the barn at once. Lights appeared on an aircraft that was cylinder iCal and had lights that were multi colored. The airship descended with a straight downward motion.
It caused a lot of movement of air. We were afraid to approach. We went inside to get my father.
He thought we were joking. We waited for what seemed about 30 mins and then began to approach the aircraft. When we got within around 100 yard the aircraft began to ascend.
It ascended straight up into the sky. We walked up to the area it had been but because it was dark we couldn’t see anything. The following day we walked up to the area it! hand landed and we were shocked to see a large ring burned into the grass and ground in a circular pattern.
We showed my father and he was astonished. There is no explanation for what we saw. This happened in Lenoir, NC.
Neighbors reported seeing fire balls in this area for a long time. ((NUFORC Note: We spoke via telephone with the witness, who corrected the time of the sighting. PD)).

It was a clear starry night when i looked up and saw an oval shaped object with lights, hovering with no sound. On a beautiful summer's night in the mid 1970's, the sky was clear and you could see all the stars. This was in the countryside, very dark, with a great view of the sky.
I was at my brother-in-law's house helping him work on his drag-racing car. I left about 11:00 P.M.
My home was about 150 yards from his. I got about halfway across his yard, almost in mine and I stopped to relieve myself. It was so pretty out, I was looking around while I was doing my business.
I turned my head to the right and saw something I'll never forget. It was hovering about 100 feet off the ground, not making a sound. It was oval shaped and had lights that were all the way across it.
They were not going off and on but dimming and brightening. I stood there for about 15 seconds and thought about my brother-in-law. I called him and he came out wanting to know what was wrong and I told him to look and he couldn't believe it.
He said, "What is that"? We stood there probably 30 sec. or more looking at it and all of a sudden it went straight up at a speed of nothing like on this planet, to an altitude to where it was about the size of my fingernail. The object didn't make a sound and it stopped dead still and sat there about 5 sec.
and made a 90 degree left turn and went about a half mile and dead stopped again. It sat there about 10 sec. and made a 90 degree to the right.
This time it went over the trees into the horizon and we never saw it again. My brother-in-law wanted to get in the car and chase it but I told him it was probably long gone. There is nothing man made, to my knowledge, that can travel that fast, hover without making a sound and stop dead still when it stops.
All of this lasted, maybe, 3 or4 minutes but it seemed like a lot longer. I didn't tell many people because I thought they would just laugh. Since then, my brother-in-law has passed away and I've wished a thousand times I would have told the authorities and tried to find out what it was.
I've heard many stories similar to mine through the years. I've thought about being hypnotized to relive the experience. I don't know where it came from or what it was but it was real.
