My family and I saw a saucer hovering over our field. There is missing time. and I could tell of another instant when I was six but .

It was in the summer months of 1977. I was 13. My family and I were inside our home in NC.

It was around 6pm when we all (my mom, dad, little brother and me) heard what sounded like a diesel truck idling. That was weird to us because we lived on a private road 4 families that lived on that road including ourselves. Our neighbor who was a long distance driver was on one of his long distance trips.

My dad thought perhaps he was back early and asked me to go to the front door to see. I did; I saw nothing. I’m telling you this because this sound is what compelled us to go outside.

My dad sat for a while longer and asked my mother to look. She saw nothing but we all still heard the noise. Finally, my dad went to look.

He walked through the living room. I followed him (I knew I saw nothing), then everyone else fell in line. I saw my dad take the one step down off the porch he then looked to his left and I could tell something had caught his eye and he looked up and quickly started toward what he saw.

Here is a memory gap. I don’t remember walking out to the edge of the field. (There was a 2 acre field that had been cleared a year earlier) I found myself standing at the edge of the field looking up at a saucer shaped hovering object.

The object was big but it could have landed in the field if it had a mind to. This was around 6pm it was daylight mind you. The sound was gone.

I was dumbstruck, mesmerized maybe, but I was not afraid. We were so close to it that I could see it was made out of one piece of gray metal (it looked like what we call Teflon now) No windows, no people getting in or out. In fact it didn’t even land.

Now here is another memory gap. It is now nighttime I’m standing in the same spot I was and staring at this thing. It was darting around at impossible angles and speed.

I am trying my hardest to figure out what it is. A plane? No planes do not stop and hover in mid air. A helicopter? No it does not have propellers and there is no sound.

Copters can’t do that. Then what is it? (This is what I’m thinking) I look up to my dad who is standing right beside me and his eyes are huge and his mouth is gaping like a scream should be coming out of him, but he makes no sound, and he looks like he is stiff. Now it dawns on me that we might actually be in a life threatening situation! Now I’m terrified! Then as we are standing there, the disk just shoots straight up and is gone in a millisecond.

We are still standing there looking up into the sky for a couple of more minutes like we are waiting for someone to say “ok, shows over”. Like I said before it was night now, everyone walked back into the house in silence. We all just stood in silence just wondering to ourselves, what did we just see? We reported what we saw to the police over the phone.

They called back the same night and said we had probably seen a weather balloon. My dad trying to rationalize what we saw (and probably trying to keep us from freaking out) told us we probably saw a government flying machine of some sort. “It is probably top secret stuff” he said.

So he very soberly and sternly and frightfully told us that we were never to talk about this again among ourselves or anyone else. We never did, until I called my adult little brother and asked if he remembered that night. He was silent for a while and then said “no.

” I asked him if he remembered the conversation that followed in the kitchen that night. He said he did. Since then, I have had some very strange happenings in my life that I cannot explain or prove.

I have had even weirder dreams. Sometimes I want to go through memory regression to remember what happened in the apparent missing time periods. Then I think “maybe you can’t remember for a reason” and I become unreasonably scared.

Another odd thing about that night, my dad had dogs, the neighborhood had a lot of dogs and we also had game fighting roosters and hens, they would bark and the chickens would cackle at almost any disturbance. They were all silent that night and no one else was at home that night down our entire road. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date is approximate.

As I stood in my yard the object came toward me. Hovered above my yard at 100ft for ten mins. Rotated west and moved on.

It was orginally sited as only a light in the distance. Traveling east. Didn't have any flashing lights.

Their was a full moon, I was facing the full moon observing an aircraft traveling in the same direction. The aircraft and the object could be seen at the same time. They were perhaps 45 degrees apart from my position.

The aircraft did have a beacon. The object was moving slowly compare the to aircraft. I wanted to observe it as it crossed the path between me and the Moon, but sense it was moving to slowly, I decided to wait untill it crossed the Moon.

I thought that perhaps I could see it's siloate against the Moon. So, I resumed my observation of the aircraft. And competely forgot about the object.

When I remembered, I looked in the direction of where it would be given it's speed. But, I didn't find it. So, I searched the sky.

Nothing. So, I decided to observe the Moon. It was larger this time of the year and I could see a lot of detail.

But, as I was watching the exact center began to brighten. I realized then that it was the object I was observing earlier. It was not only coming in my direction, but coming at an angle toward me.

As it approached, the one light, became two.(like a car coming toward you) There was no sound coming from it, even when I first sited it, though I could clearly hear the aircraft. I then became excited and ran to the rear of my house to the back door to call my siblings out to see it.

(We normally keep the front door locked) We lived in the country. 12 miles east of Columbia, in a neigborhood called Alligater. A small community of about 20 to 25 houses.

On old Hwy 64 a half mile from the intersection of old and new 64. We returned to the front of the house. By that time it was clearing the three pine trees.

One of which was maybe 50 ft tall. The base is about 4ft in diameter. It was maybe 60ft above that tree.

It came to a stop above the front yard. It was hard to see, It almost blended perfectly with the night sky, though it had lights on each side, the lights didn't illuminate the craft. If it wasn't for stary background of the sky, I wouldn't know it shape.

And the full moon didn't help. My decision to call my family out, was a poor one. They began to scream at it.

And soon, lights started to come on in the neighboring houses. At that time the object rotated west, and began to slowly move away picking up speed. I followed on the road which parolelled it's path.

I followed to the limits of our street lights, too scared to go beyond. There is farm land across the road in front of my house. Which allowed me to observe without obstructions.

The craft looked to be about 30-35ft in diameter. I was at the time intersted in science and technology. And read and viewed many books on aircraft.

And read a few books on astronomy. There are two other events, I'll list them later. My cousin had a close encounter of the third kind.

Big As House, Rows of Brightly Lit Windows, Silent While driving at night, my husband & I first noticed a bright light in the sky that was moving slowly. As we kept on driving we could see it get closer. Suddenly it appeared at treetop level, it was as big as a house, with very bright lights coming from rows of windows.

They were so bright we couldnt make out the exact shape, but seemed to be saucer or disc shaped. It was completely quiet, it seemed to just float slowly over the treetops. It passed directly over our vehicle, across the road, over a golf course & just kept on going.

There were other cars on the road that had to see it too, we just kept on driving, my husband stuck his head out of the window as it passed over, he saw colored lights on the bottom. I was so scared that I literally got in the floor of the car & started praying. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate.

It hovered above us several thousand feet maybe-metallic appearance about 30' wide and disk shaped This was very memorial to me because it was my 25 th birthday and we headed up Blue Ridge Parkway after getting off work at 5 PM Daylight savings time. My husband saw it, stopped the car surprised by the UFO, so we could both look up. It was up maybe 2000 feet but silent with no exhaust, but I thought maybe a slight vibration.

When it left heading north, it went faster than anything we have ever witnessed. I thought it might have been so fast that it literally went past the mountains, but that did not happen. It seemed to wink out of existence.

There was a military jet flying on the western horizon heading south that was so slow there was no comparison. This was 1977 so don't see how humans were inside. It also felt weird like sensing an intelligence.

Memorable experience!.

The even occurred North of Mt Calvary Rd on Old 85 on April 14, 1977. I left the library at UNC-Greensboro just about 10 pm to drive home to Thomasville, NC. I drove to Old 85 at Holden Road and headed south toward Thomasville.

Immediately when I got on Old 85 I saw a bright orb in the sky far away to the south but along the path of the highway. The light was mesmerizing. I watched it intently as I drove the approximately 19 miles home.

I did not even listen to the radio (unusual). I watched as the orb would disappear as I went down hills and reappear then I got up the hills. I assume it was just above the tree line.

The orb grew brighter and larger. After passing the Jacob street overpass on old 85, approaching the Highway crossover at the Paradise Hotel. As I approached I could see the orb was a machine hovering the the air just about the treeline.

I was shocked and pulled my car onto the crossover there on 85. When I pulled in there was a 18 wheeler parked there in the me! dian at the crossover. I parked my car and got out of my car all the while watching the machine.

When I got out I saw the truck driver of the parked truck standing in the crossover. I stood next to him and closely observed the hovering machine. It was saucer shaped with windows around the edge of the saucer and lights below the windows.

The lights were red blue green and they came on and went off making it look like they were going around the rim of the machine. The windows were backlit. As we both stared at it in it’s silence we had not spoken a word to each other.

I broke the silence and said “ Do you see that too? Do you hear anything? What is it” the truck driver said I see it but don’t believe it. It’s making me feel crazy. I don’t hear anything”.

We were both calm but amazed and stunned by what we were seeing and not hearing. I noticed the bottom of the machine was a smooth bowl shaped and was glowing an amber color. We both were just staring.

Suddenly the silhouette! of a small big headed body walked to a window and seemed to l! ook down at us. I was shocked. The first thing I felt was fear.

I don’t know why. I said, “What does it want?” and the truck driver said, I hope it’s not hungry.” We both panicked at the same time and ran to our vehicles and drove away in fear.

I was uncanny how we both decided to leave suddenly at the same time. It did not seem like we stood there long but it took me an extra 45 mins. to get home that night.

Lost time, I guess. The next night there was a huge multicar wreck at the very same place. I imagined the machine must have come back and caused the wreck.

I have told only a few people about this because it sound crazy. My close encounter of the 3rd kind changed my life. I have no doubt about what I saw and I am convinced we are visited continually but extraterrestrials.

very large craft, moving at the speed of light, no sound, lots of lights, jet aircraft came to invesitgate. While camping in a remote area of western NC under crystal clear skies in mid February, my friends and I noticed a light moving erraticly in the heavens at what appeared to be great altitude. This light was 'brighter' than and 'larger' than the stars and moved in a stop and go fashion under no normal flight plan operation.

The light seemd to cris cross the sky at great rates of speed and then began to descend closer to our location. We were surrounded by mountains in a secluded valley and the light went down behind a large ridge in the heart of the wilderness area and a glow appeared from behind the ridge and began to move from one end of the valley to the other. As we sat mesmerized, all of a sudden this very large craft making no sound rose up from the valley floor and was almost as large as the ridge itself.

The light we had seen earlier in the sky was apparent that it was the underside of the craft and the craft was circled by many flashing and mulit colored lights. We could 'feel' someone was inside and knew that we were there. This behemoth craft lingered for a moment and then shot skyward with no sound and moved as fast as one can think.

Faster than our eyes could follow and all of this with absolutely no sound but a strange sort of vibration in our stomachs. We stood there in awe for a few seconds and then began to hear the rumble of something coming our way into our little secluded valley in the middle of a wilderness area. All of a sudden several jets appeared deep in the valley and directly over our camp so low we could see the lights on the wings quite clearly.

We counted several jets but in rality this may have been only a couple making passes over our location. It was if the jets came to investigate what the larg craft was and I must tell you that there was absolutely no comparison in the kind of propulsions between the craft and the jets. The craft was in space again and we could see the same light moving somewhat erracticly and then was gone.

The odd part of the story is that I had built a large fire and we noticed that it was burned down to ashes. The really odd part of the story is that we were supposed to continue backapcking for several more days and we simply left the next day never speaking of the incident in 4 hour drive home or for that matter remembering it. A few months later at an outside evening event several people were talking about UFO`s and suddenly my friend just burst out crying and yelling at everyone that they didnt know what they were talking about and that only he and myself and our third friend knew what was going on.

It was at that moment that we all three had a sort of collective memory and began to relate to each other what took place that night and even remmbering not speaking about it until then. This event has caused great stress to all three of us for the past 25 years and is accomapnied by strange dreams and I have tried to report this to several investigators through the years only to get no response. I should think that if Federal jet aircarft left the ground that night in the deep south, probably from north Georgia, that somewhere there is a flight record of that event.

I just want to know if you can help. It should be added that my friend and I are sort of aviation buffs and I can tell you that after many airshows and a wife in the air force that this craft was like nothing that we have available to us. Also at the risk of ridicule, a few months later the movie 'Close Encounters' came out and we were all completely stunned at how close the final scene was to what we experienced that night.

I just cant explain how large this thing was. Thank you.

Me and a friend want to beach cape! We stop at min mart get some drinks. I was in stock was holding a baby my son! He was crying and moving! My friend went to Store to get drinks. Was standing outside over roof the cigar shape with lights going around! People started to come was looking at cigar shape! It stayed more than a hour.

My friend and me started to go home. My friend called her father he said it was a weather balloon! I know it was UFO What was strange that across the street was Wright brothers museum!.
