Craft approached as a star in the night sky - zig zaged extemely fast side to side. Hovered over ocean, motionless suspended for approx.1 min.

Low humming - like a transformer then propulsion sound like a jet - moved slowly north towards Wrightsville Beach - I was close and saw details - definetly not of this world; reported to Air Natl Guard - they laughed at me. (I would have laughed too, but I'm not laughing now) My business had been hurt by hurricane Fran so I was forced to take a second job at night watching condos on the beach. The island was basically deserted and I would spend all night just sitting watching the stars and listening to the radio.

I was listening to the Peach Bowl and looked up and noticed a star that looked weird - different. All of the sudden it began to move violently from side to side and the next thing I know it was about 1/4 mile from the shoreline and about 300 feet in the air. It looked like a boomerang but it also had hight - somewhat like a cone but not symetrical both ways.

I got out of the truck and went down to the water ( I honestly thought that I had to be hallucinating ). It hovered there and there was an electical sound; like when you turn on the toy train but not enough to make the train move. I swear this thing didn't move in any direction for about 1 minute.

Then there was a sound like a jet - but not a roar like a jet - more like when the blower goes on from the heater in the house. It moved slowly northward maintaining its distance from the coast. It wasn't in a hurry and obviously didn't seem to mind if anyone saw it.

The island was mostly evacuated due to the hurricanes aftermath. All I can think of is that it was surveying hurricane damage?? There is an Air Natl Guard base directly accross the street from where this happened. I was so shook up by this that I drove there the next day and reported the incident to the commanding officer.

He told me he believed me, but I think he was just humoring me. Anyway - I saw what I saw and I will never doubt again other accounts of sightings. What I saw is absolutely not possible with our technology - either we have some unbelievable technology that we don't know about or I saw something from another world.

By the way . it was concave on the back.

Hunter views UFO and is later buzzed by two military aircraft. It was a cold, clear morning sometime in December of 1998. I had been out hunting from a tree stand on my in-law's private land, which is several hundred acres within the Holly Ridge swamplands, off of highway 210.

My tree stand was about 75 to 100 feet high with a clear view in all directions. The entire time I observed numerous commerical or military aircraft flying at high altitudes (out of hearing range), leaving the usual contrails over the entire sky (there is a military base about an hour from my position). I thought nothing of it at the time, other than I had never seen so many contrails in that area before.

At approximately 11:00 am, I descended from my tree stand and started walking back to my truck, which is about a 20 minute walk. At one point I heard a jet flying high above me, and I looked up to see a small, white jet moving north-west and leaving a contrail. A bright metallic object then caught my eye, which was close to where the jet had just passed, except it seemed a much lower altitude than the jet itself.

The chrome object was stationary, was directly above me, and made no noise and left no contrail, which is probably why it had caught my attention considering everything else I was seeing left a trail of some sort. It seemed like the shape of an egg or sphere. I stood there staring at it for about a minute, when it then proceeded to move slowly in the opposite direction from where the jet was heading.

I had to back up a bit to continue watching as it was disappearing behind some trees. After another minute or two of observation, the object simply vanished. I watched for several more minutes and did not see it again.

I then proceeded to my truck and drove home. The following may or may not be related to my sighting, but it is certainly worth mentioning. As my hunt was unsuccessful, the next day I returned to the same location.

This time it was a cloudy, wet day. At approximately 9:00am, I heard several jet engines approaching from behind my position in the tree stand. Keep in mind that my stand is very high, as I am sitting above the tops of most of the other trees in my vision.

I looked to my left and observed two military F16 or F15 (?) class fighter jets flying at a low altitude. As they passed, I picked up my binoculars and viewed them for a closer look. They were moving at a very rapid speed and quite low to the ground, and I think they were using their afterburners, as I could see the flame emitting from the engines.

As they passed my position, they seemed to slow down and the afterburners were shut off. A short moment later they began maneuvering back into my direction, this time seemingly heading right for me, at a much slower speed. I was awestruck when they headed right for me at an incredibly low altitude.

As they approached my position, the noise from the jet engines was almost painfully loud. One of the jets broke left and the other right from where I was sitting. They literally buzzed my tree stand from both sides, so close that I could easily see the pilots in the aircraft.

They must have been no more than 75 yards on either side of me and just a little bit above the tree tops. The one on my right banked as it passed me, showing me a clear view of the plane's underbelly. When I first described this incident to me family, I remember mentioning that they were so close that I could see the bolts holding the jet together.

After they buzzed me they turned around again and proceeded in the direction they were originally heading before they decided to freak the hell out of me. Shortly thereafter I got back to my truck and went home. I believe that was the last time I hunted on that land since it was the end of the season, and have since moved out of the a! rea.

The object was a dull orange glow, shaped like a flattened image of Saturn. It crossed in front of Orion and I caught it in my binoculars. Moved in a sweeping arc from SW to NE Same as above, I was alone with my binoculars checking out the Orion Nebula when something flashed in my vision.

I looked up to see the object make a sweeping curve. It was a dull orange slightly glowing color. The best way I can describe it is if someone was flashing an image on some clouds, except it was a perfectly cloudless night.

As it was going away I caught it in my binoculars and verified that it was not a plane or any other object that I knew of. It was shaped like the planet Saturn, except it was flattened, meaning that it bulged in the middle. Then it was gone.

It made no sound. Thanks.

Single points of light, orange/yellow in color, much like meteors. There was broken cloudcover, and the lights would appear and disappear through the cloud cover. Initial observation was looking out over the ocean (east)from a hotel balcony which limited the overall field of vision.

One light passed north to south in a straight line. I assumed it was a meteor. Then another light passed south to north within seconds and made a series of minor turns.

I don't believe that meteors follow curved paths. My friend then came out and also observed a few of the lights many of which would disappear from our view overhead. We went down to the beach and found the embers from a camp fire.

I assumed that we had seen flying embers though I didn't understand how they could have come from very different directions nor how they could seem to disappear through clouds implying some height. We covered the fire with sand and saw 2 more of the lights. I am an engineer and the other observer an insurance professional.

We have both been amateur astronomers. My perception was that the objects were quite small. There paths reminded my of wind born objects yet they traveled in very different directions; no two followed the same path.

There apparent origin points would also cover a wide expanse. The apparent brightness of the objects was minimal; no brighter than the stars in Orion's belt. Please see the 11/14 picture at the following website (http://www.

((address deleted)).html). People flying burning gliders? The changes in "origin" puzzle me, buit the winds were quite strong and gusty.

Camp Lejeune, NC

Full Report Text:

Triangular shaped ufo witnessed by 200 Marines in Camp Lejeune, NC. I had just graduated Marine Corps boot camp and went to Camp Lejeune, NC for infantry school followed by machine-gun school. After a live fire exercise, weapons company gathered up all their gear/weapons and proceeded to "hump" (forced march) out of the firing range to an "LZ" (landing zone) several miles away.

When the company arrived at the LZ, all of the marines and instructors put their gear down and got their sleeping bags ready for a night under the stars. Just as everyone began to get in their sleeping bags, a very large triangular shaped craft appeared over the tree-line about 100' above the tops of the trees. Everyone stopped what they were doing and all eyes and attention were fixed on this ufo, as it was nearly on top of us.

No-one was looking around or talking; it was almost like we couldn't keep from looking/watching it, as none of us has ever witnessed anything like this before. It was dark outside, but there was enough star-light/moon-light to clearly see this craft. The ufo was very large.

military aircraft was immediately ruled out due to the size, speed, and quietness of the ufo. The craft just seemed to be slowly drifting over the LZ just above the trees not making a single sound. All you could hear was the sound of the wind lightly blowing, nothing else.

On the underside of the craft there were three circular lights near each tip of the ufo. After the ufo passed, it was like nothing ever happened and no one seemed to talk about it. A few years later, after I got out of the marines, I was to the point were I thought it was a dream, so I called two of my close buddies and they told me everything I have told you.

It was no dream, and it wasn't any military aircraft that we are capable of making. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date of incident is approximate. PD)) ((NUFORC Note: Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information.

Full Report Text:

Approx 1 hour before dusk, 7 chrome-colored spheres appeared in the north/northwest sky. The objects didn't appear to be balloons and were definitely not aircraft. The objects seemed to move independent of each other but at times did move together.

They appeared to hover (or hang) in the sky, which led the observers to believe that the objects weren't aircraft. Balloons were ruled out because no one in our area has a hot air balloon and we've never heard of 7 weather balloons being launched at the same time. The objects eventually moved due east, heading out over the ocean.

One of the observers managed to videotape the sighting and when he asked his neighbors for their thoughts (they witnessed it as well), they had no idea as to its origin either. Although the observers watched the object by eye and with binoculars for close to 30 minutes, it was nearly impossible to detect any specific features on the objects. For what it's worth, we typically do not have a lot of helicopter activity in our area.

But strangely enough, three days later, one twin-rotor (apparently military-green) and one black high-tech-looking Huey-shaped helicopter circled the same area most of the afternoon until dark.

red drifting light about 50 degrees in the western sky slowly drifting up and to the north would get very bright then fade but not pulsating finally disapering all together about the 2ed week in oct 98 at aprx 7 pm I was riding in a golf cart at the hotel where I work when i noticed a bright glowing red light high in the western sky. so i parked and went around the back of the hotel and walked up a fire escape to get a better look. it was glowing bright red and about the size and brightness of venus or jupiter at there closesed approch.

it seemed to be very high in alt and very far away. it was drifting very slowly up and to the north (i was looking west) it would get very bright and fade but not pulsating just kinda intermittently some times fading out compleatly for a few secs or fade to were it was barely visable and then slowly brightening again. i saw several aircraft flying nearby so i know they had to have seen it also.

i observed the object for about 10 mins and finally walked down the fire escape to the side door of the giftshop and ask the cashier to come have a look at this. she and i watched for about 5 more mins and it finaly disipeared compleatly. we discused it for a few mins and i went back to the bellstand in front of the hotel.

a few mins later 2 guys from housekeeping came by on there rounds and i was telling them what i had seen. there imeadate reaction was "it was a tower". i was telling them how high it was and what direction when one of them said "is that it?" it was there again in the same part of the sky i had first seen it.

so we went back around back (there is 2 doors leading throught a corodor that takes u from front to back where the gift shop and the proshop are located if u r wondering how we could get from front to back so quickly no lost time here LOL:) i got the cashier and we all 4 watched for about 5 mins. we all agreed it was very strange (except for 1 of the housemen he said it was an aircraft (hes not very bright) lol). about then i got a call on the radio so i had to leave.

the cashier had customers so she had to go and one of the housemen said he didnt have time for this(guess witch one) but the other houseman told me later that he watched for about 5 more mins and it had drifted back up and to the south (we were looking west) and finaly faded out. the next morning it was reported on WLOS that a number of people from the leicster community (wnw of the hotel 5 to 10 miles away) had reported a bright glowing red light in the western sky. it was also reported that they had checked with asheville regonal airport controllers and nothing unusual was seen on radar.

an astronomy professor from UNCA stated that was prob a star that sometimes glows red during that time of year. iv worked as a ((deleted)) there for about 6 years and iv lived in asheville for 32 years. im very fimilar with the geography of the area and the numerous cellphone and communication towers on the surounding mountian tops.

this was not a hotair balloon flying at night nor was it a star or any other posible explanition i can think of any segustions?? Regards.

Red light moved slowly over Asheville, dogs acted is if they were in pain. My daughter and I were going to the KFC to pick up food. We were traveling down Leicester Hwy and saw a red ball of light.

It was in the western sky. We pulled over to the Ingles parking lot and called my wife on the cell phone to look outside from our house and see if she could see it. By this time approx.

18 cars pulled in around me to look at the object. None of us could figure it out. The light would move up and down left and right slowly.

My wife grabed our dogs and got in the car headed for us. She said the dogs started wailing like they were hurting. When she got to us the dogs would not come out of the car and huddled in the floor board.

When we tryed to pick them up they were stiff, as if they were scared. More people including 2 Asheville Police cars pulled into the Ingles parking lot to view the object. It evently drifted South West, came off and on slowly, then just dissapeared.

We watched the local WLOS news and a proffesor from UNCA said it could be a planet. But planets don't move.

It was a green irradesent ball about the size of a street light,it came straight down, I was facing west at the intersection. It lasted 2-3 sec. and then it just went out.

The way it went out was the strange thing , it seemed like it was sucked back is the best way I can discribe it , not like a light being shut off. Two triangle UFO’s over Ft. Bragg In the fall of 1998, I was an Army SPC in the 82nd Airborne 1/325AIR. During an airborne operation on Sicily drop zone located on Fort Bragg, NC, I seen two UFO’s back to back.

I was placed on detail to collect parachutes during my units jump. The jump was going to take place around 01:30hrs. I was in the middle of the drop zone laying on my back watching the stars on a clear night.

As I was looking up, a UFO at tree top level move slow overtop of me. It look like a formation of helicopter. I was thinking it’s less then 30 minutes before the drop this is dangerous.

I then notice I can not see between the formation of lights that formed a triangle. I also noticed it made no sound and no rotor wash. I then realized it was a UFO.

It continued to move slow until it looked like a star among the other stars on the horizon. I could not take my eyes off it until a second UFO crosses over me just to my left side along the same path as the first one. I watched it move slow until it looked like a star among the other stars on the horizon.

I then watched one blink then the other UFO would blink and they blink back and forth for about ten minutes. They were still blinking when the drop started. I lost track of them during the drop.

That morning when we were collecting the Parachutes I asked who had seen the strange objects/UFO’s. One of the NCO’s told me he had seen them and told me not to say anything about it. When I got back to the barracks, I was relieved to find that ! the UFO event was reported on the local news.

A 69-yr-old male sighted small lights below the planet Jupiter. Looking through binoculars, another male 65 years old, sighted small lights below the planet. A female 64 yrs old sighted three lights in a horizontal configuration, moving from south to north with a brilliant halogen-type beam coming down from above the three lights.

A fourth light came into view on the left, as if something were rotating. Another female, 65, saw the lights through binoculars. The lights seemed to be at approximately 20,000 ft.

The observers had been playing bridge in a mountain cabin, drinking only coffee; first observer had stepped outside for a breath of cool air, then called the others to come and see "the bright light in the sky." The four observers are retired from their professional fields: a teacher, a writer, a photographic processing lab owner, and a printing company owner. The first to notice the "bright light" was able to see it with the naked eye.

The other three observers needed the binoculars to see the detail of three lights in a row. One of the observers noticed that as the lights approached, a bright halogen-type beam of light seemed to be aimed down at the earth below from a point just above the three lights. As the lights approached very high in the sky (approx.

20,000 ft) they seemed to move sideways several times as the binoculars moved.as though the lights and observer were somehow interacting. This "interaction" was very brief---perhaps 20 seconds---and then the lights were gone.

Afterwards, all four observers talked about what they had seen. The teacher saw something but felt the binoculars were too unsteady to say what she saw. The retired owner of a printing company was the first to see the thrr horizontal lights, first with the naked eye, then with the binoculars.

The writer saw the lights approach and then the halogen-type spotlight, and then a fourth light appearing on the left of the other three, as though rotating into view. The photo lab owner saw the horizontal lights but later decided they were just reflections on the lenses from two distant lights that illuminate the driveway in this otherwise pitch-black mountain setting in the Blue Ridge Mountains. All four of us tried to duplicate the lights in the binoculars to see if they were indeed reflections, to no avail---the phenomenon couldn't be duplicated.
