North Carolina UFO Sightings in 2008

We have 5 minutes of video we took of a three dimentional white light that would morph into a six sided web shape We are educated,self employed, middle aged, non drug or alcohol users with no known mental illnesses. We live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, out in the woods. There is no light pollution, so when the nights are clear the stars are all there for the naked eye to see.

We went to take the dogs out around 9pm. There was a very bright light due south hanging behind the ridge line. It was very, very bright white and pulsating.

Moving horizontal and vertical, sometimes on the diagonal. An aura of changing colors,blues, reds, greens around the center of the light. It cast light on the ridge.

Not an aircraft.No sign of a beam coming from the ground anywhere.It was casting light.

We grabbed the video camera and got about 5 minutes of footage. It looks like it is something 3 dimensional and spinning on an edge. There is a dark side to it.

As we watched the light it started moving back away from us and then back towards us. Then all of the sudden it started to throw what looked like a large six sided spider web light formation. It appear suddenly like an explosion.

At first the webs of light appeared to propel the light away. One web had vertical lines of faint color. Another had diagonal lines of another color A third had horizontal lines.

We have these on the video. Then the light began to move away from us. So far away that our camera could no longer pick it up but we could see it with out naked eyes.

As we watched this for a few minutes, moving back and forth across the sky, then hanging out in the eas, two more appeared with the first one. There were aircraft in the area at this time. We think the planes were in front of the lights because the lights looked to be very far away now.

Watching the video later we saw that the light explode into the six sided shape and then back into a light. We also discovered that we ha accidentally left the camera on and picked up more of the web shapes while we were looking at the 3 far off in the distance. We called the local police and TV stations to ask if any other reports of strange lights had come in.

The TV station said that in the last couple of months there were other reports in the area, but none like this.

Boomerang object with no sound seen in night sky On 29 Dec 08 at about 20:05, I’ve noticed a brownish / tan object in the northeast night sky just above the tree tops. The object at first was distorted but came into focus as it moved from the northeast to southwest. As the object moved over my head, I noticed that it was in a shape of a boomerang with a light gray to dark silver color disc in the center.

The rest of the object was a light brown/tan. As the object moved over head, there was no sound and it disappeared out of sight. The object did not have an appearance of any military aircraft that I have seen.

I’ve called Marine Corps Air Station, New River to see if they seen anything on their radar and I was told no and was advised to call the County Sheriffs Office to see if any one reported seeing a UFO. Again I was told no.

White light zipped though the sky. There was one bright object that flashed in the sky it was a steady white light and within a few seconds the light was gone.

As I was in the car, I saw a white object in the sky which wasn't moving, just hovering there. It had distinct sharp ends on each side, and looked as it if might have been a disc, but from the angle it was at I couldn't tell. The driver and I passed by a cluster of trees wich blocked it from sight, and when we were clear of them the object was gone.

Saw what I believe were 3 UFO's in sky over Lake Tillery, NC, on morning of 12/29/08 about 5am. Awoke about 5am and was lying in bed looking through large, high bedroom window, facing West. Suddenly 3 ovate orange/gold/yellow objects flew by at rapid speed and disappeared in 1-2 seconds.

House was located on Lake Tillery and I had a clear view of sky and I was wide awake. I am 72, magna cum laude graduate and a retired stock broker. Do not drink or do drugs .

A brilliant flashing white light was beaming into one of my bedroom windows for about 1 minute. This has happened sporadically down through the years and it doesn't matter where I move.

Large green light appeared falling from sky and disappearing behind mountains-no tail or aura present. 12/27/08 1905 E.S.

T. While traveling on Interstate 40 in a westerly direction, approximately 40 miles from the town of Newberry in South Carolina, a large green light was witnessed falling from the sky, on a slight angle from right to left, before disappearing behind the mountains. This occurred at 1905 Eastern Standard Time.

The object witnessed was larger than a falling star, and had no tail common with a falling meteor. The object was visualized by two individuals on a return trip to Tennessee from South Carolina, traveling towards Asheville. Following this occurrence a call was made to 911.

The call was taken in two counties as the object was witnessed while traveling across county lines. The dispatcher showed great interest in the observation and transferred the call, after many questions, to the adjoining counties dispatcher. The dispatcher reported that he would contact local airports to inquire about planes or possible crashes in the area.

The object itself was large, green in color, and moved quickly, dropping from high in the sky, no tail, no other colors, and made no sound. Dropping behind the mountains there was no sound, no explosion.

Triangle shape with no center; clouds pass through the middle of the triangle. LAT: 35°38'11.36"N LON: 78°46'19.

17"W Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526 15 December 2008 11:00pm Overcast 2 witnesses (1 is a scientist, the other a musician) @200 yards or so from the 1st and maybe 300 yards from the second. The UFOs appear to be about 8-10,000 feet high. There are no pictures.

1. Cigar shape with brightly lighted windows around the circumference. Appears 30 degrees above the horizon.

2. Very large obtuse scalene triangle shape. The triangle’s appearance is like a black line drawn across the clouds.

I can see through the center. It is at a 40 degree angle to the 1st UFO (around the same altitude). Very difficult to see because grey clouds are moving through the center and obscuring parts of the lines.

It has no lights. It would be invisible at night but light from the 1st UFO made it possible to see it. Details: A large cloud lights up from top to bottom like a lighting flash but stays lit.

The bottom of the cloud is violently boiling. Like an upside down pot of boiling water. The first UFO appears out of the boiling cloud and stops.

I have a flashlight and tell my spouse, "Lets signal it!." I was trying to be funny. I flash the light 3 times and the first UFO flashes back 3 times and starts to circle the field.

My wife panics, grabs my arm and we run back to the house. My flashlight can barely light the ground. I don’t know how the UFO could have seen it’s light from that altitude or why it would care enough to reply.

We are both absolutely sure the object was interacting with us. I saw the triangle after the 1st UFO appeared. This object also circled the field but kept the same distance from the 1st object.

This UFO is the largest object I have ever seen in the sky.

Star-like objects fade in and out, and move in patterns unusual for conventional aircraft At approx. 6:45 pm on the evening of Saturday Dec 6th, 2008, I had gone to my backyard pool to turn on the filtration system motor. This is a routine procedure I perform in cold weather to keep the water circulating to prevent freezing (in lieu of winterizing).

After switching on the motor, I noticed in the western night sky a very bright light slowly moving eastward. Since we live about 20 minutes from a regional airport, I at first didn’t think this was unusual. However as I watched it’s motion, I noticed it had no blinking aircraft lights.

As I continued to stare, it suddenly halted movement and then began to move backwards. Eventually it stopped completely and became fixed (now appearing as the brightest “star” in the sky). At this point I ran inside to get my video camera and to notify my two young children of what I had seen.

When we came back outside the object was still there, but was now accompanied by a second star-like light (albeit less bright) off to the lower right. I began to record as best as I could through the backyard tree limbs which somewhat blocked my view. Eventually the cold weather forced us indoors, where I continued to film through my upstairs screened-in porch area.

For the next half hour or so my children and I watched in amazement as the two objects alternately moved closer to each other, then moved apart. In addition they would continually fade in and out, at times becoming completely dark (appearing to us to disappear completely), then suddenly reappearing in full brightness. At times the second object would become brighter than the first.

Eventually the objects went dark permanently.

Triangular Orange Glowing Lights Seen Over Wilmington, NC A friend and I were at a rooftop bar on Friday December 5th (Saturday morning the 6th, if you want to be technical) around 2am in downtown Wilmington, NC. We left the inside of the bar to go outside and get some fresh air. It was freezing out, and we were the only two people on the deck outside at the time.

I looked up at the sky to try and find O'Ryan's Belt like I always do and noticed three glowing orange/red lights in the shape of a triangle. It was above a thin layer of whispy clouds. It was dark so I could not see the actual shape of the object, but the lights led me to believe it was triangular.

Before I could say anything, the object moved very quickly across to the right and then curved straight up into the sky before it disappeared. My friend and I looked at each other - he had seen it too - and both said at the same time: "DID YOU SEE THAT?!?" We went inside to tell our friends but they were skeptical. I'm not one who has ever really believed in UFOs but after that night my opinions have changed.

I am positive that I saw something, and am reinforced by the fact that my friend saw it as well.

Have a picture of digital photo/ UFO. I was trying to see if I could take nightpictures of the full moon and caught somthing strange after I blew it up and found a diamond shaped craft because stars dont move across the sky, But this one did!!!.

Have a picture of digital photo/ UFO. Went outside to see if my digital camera could get some pictures of the stars and to see the quallity of my pictures and to see if my digital camera from cvs the would pick up the stars and moon for clarity. And I saw a number of lights/stars that were flashing then I saw what apeared to be either seperate ships or a single ship.

There were 4 lights blinking in a diamond formation.you can see three lights staggered and one below the others in formation. I had an erie feeling like my skin was crawling.

I took pictures of the whole sky around me, a photographer, Amazed and wierded out,creeped out, but never scarred. Cordually.XX.

Two stationary white lights mysteriously 'disappear.' November 27th, 2008 Mount Holly, North Carolina Around 8:00 pm, I stepped outside onto the patio in our backyard with my son (17). My husband and daughter (14) had just left through the front door to go to the store.

My son and I observed two very large bright white lights in the southern sky. They were about 30 degrees above the horizon. The lights were larger than any planet that we have ever seen.

One light was located about ‘3 inches’ above the other light. Both lights were behind the branches of a neighbor’s tree (about 75 yards). They were stationary and we did not hear any sound coming from the lights.

We went inside and tried to find some information on the internet about the evening sky, but didn’t find anything. So, my son and I went back outside to view the lights. This time we went out the front door and observed the lights from our front porch.

The lights were no longer behind the tree branches. This time, the lights were to the right of the tree at the same altitude and intensity. We went back inside.

About ten minutes later my daughter and husband came home from the store. I asked them if they saw the bright lights outside. My daughter said she saw the lights as they were walking to the car to go to the store.

She said she tried to tell my husband, but he was talking on the cell phone. I asked her if the lights were still there, and she said she still saw them as they walked back into the house. I went back onto the front porch to take another look at the lights.

Both lights were gone! I called my husband, son, and daughter to see that the lights were gone. We were baffled. We went back inside and shared our observations with my husband.

I went back outside the front door, but this time I walked about 20 feet out onto the front lawn. Further away and about 10-20 degrees from the horizon, I saw what I think may be the same two lights. They were located south-south-west of me.

Their lights were smaller and dimmer. The bottom light seemed to be rotating as different colored lights were being emitted. (yellow, orange, green?) I went back inside and called my son and daughter.

They also believe that the two distant lights were the same lights that were previously much closer to our house. We watched the two lights as they very, very, slowly descended into the horizon. The lights did not get smaller as they descended.

They seemed to make a vertical descent. It took about 15 minutes for both the lights to descend out of view. ((NUFORC Note: Sighting of Venus, we suspect.

Shooting star with NO TAIL or UFO My boyfriend and I were driving down the road and both saw what we thought was a shooting star zip across the sky about 10inches (which would actually be hundreds of miles). We both said "Look" at the same time, then both realized there was no tail. Then the light just stopped and disappeared.

Well, about a second later a little red dot flashed in the sky exactly where the light stopped. Now, my boyfriend is a small plane pilot, and he said there was NO WAY that what we saw could have been anykind of airplane or jet. It moved too far too fast.

He said that he estimated the light to be about 10 miles above us. The sky was pitch black and the sky was fairly clear, you could see several stars.

3 unexplained circular lights over the ocean in North Carolina On the night of November 18, I and a friend of mine were walking along the beach. I looked out into the ocean and a little bit above the horizon I saw a light (the color of a streetlight) blink on then off, almost like the light faded off. It was a circular light.

My friend did not see this. As we kept walking in the same direction, I look up in the sky and notice the light again. I told my friend and he watched.

There was a light (same one as before) come on and fade off, directly next to the right of it (with some space in between) I saw another light come on right after the first one and fade away, then another did the same (3rd one). For a little while they did not show up, until we started walking back to my car when we look up again and see another light come on higher up in the sky than the other times, as that one faded away diagonally to the left another light faded on and off. That was the last we saw the lights.

About 10-15 mins later, we noticed that around the moon there was an outline of perfect circle of what looked like clouds. After a while it disappeared. I have seen shooting stars and planes before and this was definitely not one.

The lights seemed to be stabilized and not moving when we noticed them, the lights stayed on for about 15-30 seconds before they faded away. Other than that I really do not know how to explain what we saw.

2 orange orbs 1 orb circled around the motionless one, then went up and took off. We were driving back from a college class located near Wake Med, North Carolina. It was about 6:00pm.

A normal night, slightly cloudy. However there were no clouds in the area of the sighting. We were listening to music joking around; As we pulled into the sub division in which I reside.

I looked out the rear window to enjoy the stars like I sometimes do. Upon looking I saw two orange/yellow lights in the sky. They initially were directly beside one another.

Then coincidently as I looked my friend asked what I was staring at. he then looked back with me and slowed the car down to a near halt. At that exact moment the craft/light that was on the left side did a U turn going from being on the left side to quickly pacing under it and was then positioned on the right side.

Almost simultaneously the light then shot up directly into the sky about a mile or two.and then sped up forward going over our head. All while the other light/craft stayed hovering motionlessly in the night sky.

I couldn't make out the shape, all I can really say is they were two orange colored orbs. The flight pattern was indeed incredible. Something I've never seen before.

I couldn't help but fix my eyes on to what was taking place. I didn't get scared however I had a incredible feeling of joy. But once the two crafts disappeared after about 3-4 minutes.

I felt sort of depressed not knowing what to believe.

A mysterous, and very bright lumanating craft seen hoovering high over Clemmons, N.C We were looking toward the west, in the direction of Clemmons,N.C from Winston Salem, there in the sky we saw a bright light that looked like a bright star at first, but,while watching it, there were different colored luminous lights blinking; white, yellow,blue,green,red mostly,and it seemed to be some kind of a round hoovering rotating craft,and would move slowly away for some distance, hoover again then go back to the orginal position; this went on for about 50 to 60 minutes,then disappeared.

I don't have a video camera, so, I couldn't take a movie of it, but,I did report it to Forsyth county law enforcement. I don't feel it was a local plane or helicopter; anything around here wouldn't stay that long in one place,or move, then go back to where it was and hoover again; It was 6pm and already dark when this all started. There are a lot of cell phone towers in this area.

My son thought that maybe, that had something to do with it; as he observed the object high in the night sky, he thought it was moving around high over the towers and one side of the object seemed to be emiting a total red light. I did see the red light as I meantioned before, I went into the house after observing for long while; as it was too cold for me. I don't feel there isn't much more I can add to this.

I am interested in learning more about the mysterous unknown ufo's. I use to be a skeptic, but, I now believe anything is possible, as I have seen a lot of things in my life that some people would consider impossible or crazy. A lot of people don't believe in bigfoot, but, I became a believer when myself and family had an encounter with one.

I know it may sound weird or crazy; but, could these ufo's have something to do with the bigfoot being here? It does seem strange that there a lot of ufo's and a lot more bigfoot sightings.

Glowing orbs in my room My husband and I were at our beach house in Surf City N.C. I'd like to state that I had not been drinking or doing drugs of any kind and was not dreaming.

I woke up in the middle of the night as I usually do and got up to watch some tv in the living room. For some reason I decided to stay in bed and try and go back to sleep even though I never do and am up for at least 3 hours. I laid there looking around the room noticing that it was not as dark as it should be at that time in the morning.

I could see everything quite clearly.except for the upper corner of the bedroom. At first I thought I had something in my eye, so I rubbed it.

Still, I couldn't make out the corner. It was pitch black, about 18 inches in diameter and fuzzy, as if you put on someone else's prescription glasses. Everything else was clear.

I kept trying to focus thinking how weird this was that I couldn't make out the corner. All of a sudden a small glowing white ball of light came shooting out! Then another and another. Five in all, zigzagging through the room.

No sound. I got the feeling they were excited that they had made it in. I just laid there thinking "what the hell is going on here?" They all gathered directly over me as if they figured out that one of us was awake and could see them.

One of the orbs shot down and went from the size of a half dollar to the! size of a tennis ball and was about 10 inches from my face. Here's what I saw. Energy.

a glowing ball of pure energy. I could see right inside it. Moving, sparking, like an organic computer.

It stayed there for about 10 seconds then popped along with the other 4. Here's the part that bothers me the most. Immediately after they popped it was if I had been given a tranquilizer.

I couldn't keep my eyes open and fell asleep. How could I of fallen asleep after seeing something like this? Why didn't I wake my husband? Shortly after this experience I began vibrating. Sounds weird but, I woke up one morning and I thought we were having a small earthquake until I realized that it was me, vibrating from my core, not my heart.

I wasn't having heart palpitations. This happened off and on for about a year. I usually would just lay there for a few minutes until it subsides.

cigar or cylinder shape object moving at a good rate of speed My girlfriend and I and kids were out looking at the tree colors. She looked at me and said what is that! I grabbed the camera and took 5 pictures only showed in one for some reason ! watched it move for aprox 5-6 Min's.Was cigar or cylinder shape, thought it might be a blimp at first but was moving way to fast ! was aprox 150-250' long and 50'-75' in diameter.

aprox 1500' in the air ! there were no lights or wheels or wheel pods or antennas.

Three aircraft shaped like triangles observed at night - appeared to be moving very slowly, if at all. I am 58 years old. I have 19 years of education and a post graduate degree.

I am married and gainfully employed. On November 7, 2018, I was traveling from Winston-Salem, NC, to Wilmington, NC. I took Interstate 40 around Raleigh, NC.

Approximately 45 miles east of Raleigh, I exited near Newton Grove, NC, and stopped at a convenience store and purchased water and a snack. Not long after I got back on Interstate 40, I observed a steady white light above the trees on the left (north) side of the highway. This was around 7:35 pm.

The sun set at least 1.5 hours before I saw this light. The sky was partly cloudy.

In this general location Interstate 40 was 4 lanes, two lanes in each direction, with a center median. The speed limit was 70 mph. This is a rural area.

I was traveling at around the posted speed limit, driving a 4-door sedan. I was intrigued by the white light. It was far too large to be a star or planet but seemed to be stationary, so did not think it could be from an airplane.

I knew that there were no tall buildings in the area to account for such a light. I considered the possibility that the light was on top of a large industrial facility that I had not noticed before, as well as the possibility that it was affixed to a very tall communications tower. As I got closer, I saw that the light was affixed to an aircraft that was shaped like a stealth bomber (a triangle).

Because traffic was very light, I was able to slow my vehicle to around 45 mph and watch the aircraft through by looking up through my windshield. The aircraft appeared to be hovering or nearly hovering. It appeared to be close enough to the ground that if it had been proceeding at the speed of a jet, or even a small prop plane, its forward progress would have been dramatically greater than appeared to be the case.

I was headed east. The aircraft was pointed west. As I was watching the aircraft, I observed two similarly shaped aircraft to the south and east of the aircraft with the light.

I could see the silhouettes of the other two aircraft. These aircraft were pointed in the same direction as the first aircraft. I did not observe lights on them.

I watched the three aircraft for at least 5 seconds. They appeared to be hovering or moving forward at a very slow speed. I considered stopping to get a better view but did not, as the three aircraft appeared to be close enough to observe me.

The three aircraft were close enough and strange enough that I concluded that my best course would be to keep moving and get out of the area. I was not far from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. It occurs to me that the three aircraft could have been stealth bombers.

However, they appeared to be too close to the ground and appeared to be moving, if at all, much slower than I would expect a stealth bomber to be able to move and sustain flight. ((NUFORC Note: Source of report indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate. PD)).
