Flat black disc, no lights, spinning with a slight wobble, no sound In 1977, my friend & his younger brother & I were walking through a field which is part of st Mary's Cemetary. My friend spotted the disk first. We just stood there saying,"What is that?".

The disk was flat black in color and seemed to have a darker small circle in the center of the disk. It appeared to spin in a clockwise or counter clockwise manner but would also wobble slightly. It made no sound, I'm not sure how high up this craft was, but I would estimate its size to the hole in the center of a compact disk.

I saw this same disk years later at this field while watching New Albanys' football team practice there. I've often wondered if this was a weather balloon, experimental military aircraft, or aliens. I can honestly say I will never cease to wonder what it was that I saw during the blizzard of "77".

Close Encounters of the ??? Kind This was sometime during the fall of 1977. I was six years old. My father was stationed at Ft.

Wayne, Indiana. Our family was late night fishing at a lake near the military installation. The lake was in a secluded wooded area.

The approximate time was 11:30 p.m. I recall that it was a clear and cool night.

The object first appeared in the distance flying military crest along the mountains. We could only see the lights which were approximately 5-8 miles away. My father, an aircraft mechanic for the Army, was not sure of the object.

He stated that it was moving too fast for a helicopter and flying much too low and fast to be a prop aircraft. We ignored it after that it wasn’t until 15 minutes later the object was hovering near us at the lake. It was approximately 100 ft from our location, in the open observing us.

We remained motionless and stared at the craft during the entire duration. The object was hovering 50 ft off the ground. It was a disc shaped objec! t about 75 ft in diameter, with domes above and below the main hull.

Lights of various colors flashed around the domes. The craft was silent and remained hovering for 10 mins before lifting off slowly, heading away from our location then accelerated quickly out of sight. I will never forget this night.

Large Orange Glowing Orb Witnessed in August of 1977 or 1978. This event occurred many years ago when I was a teenager camping with parents and relatives in northern Indiana. As best as I can remember, this event occurred during the summer vacation after I completed the 7th or 8th grade.

It’s hard to be exact on this point as so many years have elapsed, but I can be certain of the month, August, because that’s when my father always took his two week vacation which we spent camping. My Aunt, my cousin, and myself were enjoying live music, a country band if I remember correctly, in an enclosed pavilion at the campground when we decided to step outside for some fresh air. It was a very warm August evening around 20:30; the air was very heavy and thick, as most August evenings are, and I remember taking in a deep breath of the cooler outside air.

We had walked a bit from the pavilion, making small talk, and found ourselves among a stand of pine. I had glanced up, for no particular reason, and spotted a very large, orange colored orb hovering right above. I pointed up immediately and said ‘Look!’.

My cousin and Aunt both looked up and stared in amazement. The orb was very large and seemed as big as a three-story house. It’s hard to say how far away it was, but I remember thinking to myself that I could almost reach up and touch it.

I think I may have actually stretched out my hand. The orb had a very distinct glow to it, that’s honestly, hard for me to articulate. The best description I can come up with, and I’ve thought about this from time to time over the years since the event, is that if you could imagine a giant pumpkin that’s been carved very close to the rind, and then a large lit candle place within so that it appears that the surface is emanating light, rather than a direct light source…if this makes sense.

The event lasted maybe 30 seconds, the object never moved, never made a sound, and then it just blinked out and was gone. I looked up at my Aunt who was still staring with her jaw gaped open, and said, ‘Did you see that!?’. My Aunt was silent, but my cousin said, ‘I think it was a firework,’ as if to provide some kind of reasonable explanation.

I said in return, ‘There’s no way that was a firework, I think it was a UFO’. We all walked back to the pavilion in silence. We never spoke of the event after that night.

There is one more detail here that I’m not totally sure about, but when we returned the band was wrapping up, and I could swear that when we had left they were just about to take a small break, not finish for the night. I’ve heard of ‘Missing Time’ since the event and I’m not saying that’s what happened. I just wanted to note this point because I remembered at the time thinking that is was kind of strange that the band was packing.

I’ve always wondered if anyone else had ever seen an object such as this one during the summer of 77 or 78, so I decided to share this event with you folks. I’ll always remember the amazement and utter awe I felt that night. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate.

Report

Plymouth, IN

Full Report Text:

Very bright light; the light seemed maganetically attached to our plane; followed us on the ground. My husband, who was an IFR pilot, and myself owned our own airplane; at this particular time it was a Cessena 175. We had spent many hours in our planes and on this particular occasion we were getting ready to go to Colorado; my husband wanted to see if we would need oxygen at (not certain of the exact altitude) 12-13 thousand feet.

(I have his log book at our home in Indiana and I'm at our home in Florida as I write this; this will give the exact date and possibly the altitude) We drove our ElCamino from South Bend to Plymouth, where our plane was hangered, about 2:00 am, did our pre-flight noticing nothing out of the ordinary. He needed night flying and also time "under the hood" for his IFR rating; so he decided to kill a few birds at one time. (It's been so long since this happened and my husband would not allow me to talk about it while he was alive; but I'll try to get as close to what the distances are as I can remember) He was going to do a 5 or 10 mile precision turn up to the 12 or 13 thousand mark and I was his "spotter".

The 5 or 10 mile precision turn means that you keep making circles around a central point and climb so many feet per minute. My job was to keep quiet and watch for any traffic. The night was clear as a bell and there was no traffic at SBN who we had filed our flight plan with.

We started our climb and the sky was empty; no traffic any direction. About 20 minutes into the climb I noticed traffic at 1:00 o'clock. I looked up again and the same traffic was at 1:00o'clock.

This happened the third time and I said to myself (because he had told me to keep completely quiet so he could concentrate); this cannot be happening because we are making a CIRCLE and the traffic is in EXACTLY the same spot. It came a little closer from the first time I noticed it till the exercise was finished; but not much. It only appeared as a light coming straight towards the plane.

It seemed too far away the whole time that I never feared of it hitting us. I felt like they or someone knew exactly what I was thinking. I felt that it was magnetically "glued" to the plane because it NEVER moved an inch.

I kept scooting around to make double certain that it wasn't a reflection of light from any place in the plane; it was not a reflection. I even put both hands up to the glass and looked at it like that. When we finally were within 1000 feet of out goal my husband asked me to light a cigarette for him; at that time I finally said, "We have something at one o'clock".

He said, "Congratulations, it has been there since 3 thousand feet". My husband had gotten the Bronze Star in WW2 and was never one who would become excitable; this is an important aspect in this event. I asked him to call SBN to see if we had traffic and he wouldn't do it; finally I coaxed him into it and they replied to us that not only did we not have traffic that he hadn't seen any in our area all night.

We broke formation and headed for the airport and it came with us for two or three minutes and when we signaled for the lights to come on in the airport it changed position to dropping behind us; it had followed us down as we lost altitude. As we were landing it kept getting closer and closer to us; as we touched down it kept very still about 300 feet from us. We pulled up to the hanger door; jumped out, even left the charts in the plane, quickly put the plane in, we did it so fast we broke the taillight from the top of the tail.

There was absolutely no noise coming from the bright light and we were close enough to have heard any noise from it. Jumped in the El Camino and drove as fast as we could to the highway; he started to turn north towards home and I screamed "No don't go that way it's deserted; go toward town". He turned south and by the time we came into downtown Plymouth we were going almost 100 mph.

He said "Where ((three words deleted)) are the police when you need them?" Trees had kept us from being able to see the "light" because they are all along on both sides of the street. I was able to see that it was following us until we went under the trees. I couldn't get him to go inside the police station and he wouldn't let me go in.

He refused to report it to the FAA and made me promise not to talk about it. He said he didn't want anyone thinking he was nuts. He died Jan of 05.

To this day I have a spooky feeling if I go near there; and will not go at night. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the incident is approximate. PD)).

Three colorful spheres passed close to me and my dog at night on the Lake Michigan shore. I will NEVER forget this night sighting. I lived on the corner by the dunes of Lake Michigan on Georgia Ave.

, in Michigan City. I took our black Labrador, Kahlua, out for her nightly beach walk. We started up the sand dune trail toward the beach, when suddenly(and for the first time ever) my seven year old dog pointed toward the beach end of the path and her backhair was standing up.

I looked and saw a glimmer of shimmering light and figured she had sensed some neighbors sitting around a bon fire on the beach. I took a brisk walk with her to the end of the path, and upon reaching the beach overlook, I stood dumbfounded. There were NO people on the beach but off to our left(West) and approaching us at a slow speed were three glowing spheres of strange light.

I looked down at Kahlua and she was following these objects and didn't move. (She was not leashed) They were about 5 feet above the shore where the small waves were meeting the sand.I could see the foam of the small wavelets illuminated by the spheres ,directly below them.

They were in an echelon formation (like jets fly off each others wing tips). One sphere was ahead of the other two and they were each off to one side and behind the lead sphere. Their surfaces were of a yellow/pink static light that ran around the globes like little lightning bolts but thin and many.

It was very quiet ,except for the breeze rushing past our ears off the lake. I remember seeing lightning way across the lake near Chicago (which you can see the taller buildings on a clear day).It was miles away and barely saw the lightning.

These globes were about 3- 4 feet in diameter and a few feet apart and moved Eastward directly in front of us. That's when I got a good look. The static surface gave me a good view of their outlines and they were perfect globes.

I got goosebumps and hair must've stood on my arms. I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Kahlua never moved except for her head while staring at these spheres with me.

The globes kept moving and seemed to speed up and we watched until they became a single light (due to distance) and they disappeared downshore as they moved out of sight toward New Buffalo,Michigan. I often wonder why I and/or Kahlua never walked or ran closer to see these at close range? It seemed I didn't want to move. I was afraid.

I had lived and walked this beach for at least 1 year and never saw anything as puzzling as this. The globes were controlled and never wavered once in their flight. I reported the sighting to the Michigan City Police the next day but they just laughed and said it was probably "airplane lights".

No way.not 80 -100 feet in front of me along the breaking waves and illuminating the foam only. I sent this report at the time, to Dr.

J. Allen Hynek at Northwestern Univ. but never heard anything more.

I'm a blue collar worker with some collage and was sober and wide awake at the time. I also knew the beach area at night since I lived just a few minutes walk from the water's edge and spent much of my my free time there. Question: Has anyone else reported close encounters with lights, spheres, or otherwise along the beaches of Lake Michigan ?? Thank you for letting me report this unknown.

((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date is approximate. We have heard many such reports of luminous spheres. PD)).

2 hours of missing time with us having know idea where we were We where going to sawmill lake to pick up a bed from a cabin my husbands grandmother was selling. We were traveling in a large pickup truck. my husband and his grand mother were in the cab with my infant son.

my daughter who was five and myself were inside a camper shell that had heavy curtains at the windows. My husband stopped 10 minutes from the cabin because my son needed to be nursed. When ((name deleted--husband)) gave me ((name deleted--son)) he assured me we were just minutes from the cabin, because he was worried about my comfort in the back of the truck.

Two hours later we were at the same stop sign only coming from another direction. Again, he was at the back of the camper telling me he did not know where we had been. His grandmother said she had never been lost before and she had be going up there for fifty years.

We called it our time in the twilight zone and forgot about it till I picked up a book by bud hopkins and became so scared i could not read it. so my husband finally asked to see the book after a awhile he came to me and said the reason i was so frighten was because that it happened to us. if you want to talk to my exhusband at some point i can give you my son's e-mail address.

also,in the early 60's there was a sighting with several people out side of rome city, in. the craft was so slow that it was at tree top level it was shaped like a saucer with no noise, i left my parents and walked under the craft and it had a tripod of lights and it made the noise like a clicking like it was taken pictures. my mother watched it for several hours and she stated that it beamed down a blue light over the water for about a half hour then took off at a high rate of speedn ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the incident is approximate.

Disk with raised center, hat-like. Windows displayed gradient changing color through the color wheel. I pointed, it zipped away.

My father and I experienced this in 1976-1978 timeframe, in Bloomington, Indiana, at 39.174292934475524, -86.47299989167965.

My father was a US Navy officer at the time, of rank either Lt. Cmdr. or Cmdr.

and in charge of the USNR based in Bloomington, Indiana. I was born in 1966, my parents in 1942. On a beautiful Spring or early Summer day, Dad asked me to join him outside on the sundeck of our house.

He asked me to have a look around and indicate if I saw anything unusual. I affirmed I did, and he asked me to point it out. I did.

At about a 45 degree angle to the South was an object in the sky. It was perfectly still. It was a circular object with a raised and flat center portion.

Around the main border of the circle were what might be described as portals or windows. I recall seeing three such windows, and they emitted visible light that seemed to cycle through wavelengths producing solid color changing as a gradient (cyclic wavelength) and upon arriving on a primary color the light coloration paused and became brighter and opaque and uniform across the full surface of each window. They were independent with respect to coloration of each window.

Dad asked me to point to where I saw the object. When I did, it seemed to stop the light wavelength cycling. Next, the object instantly reduced in size as I perceived it, straight away to the South.

In other words, the object instantly went from being perfectly still to vanishingly fast. We went back inside the house. Dad telephoned a contact at NSWC CRANE, who stated they didn’t have anything special in the air.

Next, Dad called the local law enforcement office and shared with us that the person he spoke with there stated they had already received hundreds of calls about a similarly described UAP, and their phone was still ringing. On reflection, I think the object was at least in part measuring what our visual light spectrum range was by displaying the colors the way it did, and departing immediately when I pointed at it.

Noise and extreme light outside my windows I'm not sure of the date or time but I was in bed watching MaryHartman, MaryHartman and the picture on the television went to snow but the voices continued (cable tv), almost immediately,an extremely loud sound was directly overhead (like a jet noise), my cat started crying at the same time and his hair was on end like static electricity. I left the bedroom and walked down the hall into the kitchen (approximately 10 feet), the hair on my arms stood up and I had goosebumps (I never get goosebumps), as I went into the kitchen, I could see this bright light flooding into the windows through the living room windows as well as the kitchen windows. I did not see anything but the extreme light surrounding the house.

Then all of the sudden, the sound and light was gone, The television was back to normal It could have been less than 2 minutes or more, its hard to gauge. I know I stood in the kitchen for at least a minute before the light and sound abruptly stopped. There was no fading out of the sound.

The television immediately cleared up and within a minute or two, jets were scrambled out of Hulman Airfield. I called the airfield immediately and asked them what had happened and they denied anything. I have never told anyone of this experience.

I'm almost 50 years old. I'm not claiming to have been abducted. I truly do not know what it was but it was out of my experience, then or now.

After this experience, I always left a window open for belief in ufo's. I saw the special on ABC last night and felt I should at least tell someone for the record. I have not see or heard anything strange since.

I've tried to explain the phenomenon to myself for decades, but it must have been something. I would like to know if anyone has experienced this as well. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date of sighting is approximate.

Three Faint Oval Shaped Objects Flying In Apparent Formation At Night At 11:42 PM EST February 21, 1977 while star gazing from the parking lot of my apartment building on N. Grant Street in Bloomington, Indiana I observed three faint elliptical objects of less apparent visual magnitude than the star Mizar in the constellation Ursa Major. At the time of observation I was attempting to set up my telescope to observe the Mizar visual binary star system in the handle of Ursa Major.

While sighting down the length of my telescope to get an approximate "aim" at Mizar, I saw three faint gray oval objects cross the area that I was about to observe. The sighting was naked eye and lasted only about seven seconds. The objects appeared to be solid oval shapes with a major axis of about 1/4" at arms length.

The appeared to be in a staggered formation, one oval slightly behind and to the side of the previous oval. In addition they seemed not to hold a tight formation but rather wandered slightly from a tight formation. The objects revealed no discernable detail to the naked eye and there was no time to track them with the telescope.

There was no sound or other phenomena associated with the sighting. The heading that they traveled was approximately 285 degrees and the distance covered in the time I viewed them was approximately 85 degrees across the sky until they were lost behind trees. Altitude and size indeterminable.

I have seen terrestrial light reflect from the bottom of low, night flying birds before and this sighting was of similar luminosity, however these objects were solid oval in shape.
