Large silver sphere/saucer-shaped object that hovered for several minutes. Emitted dots (in data-style format) from side. I have never reported this, but if I could find some of my old neighbors, I'm sure someone else could confirm this, as many of us saw it.
It began very high in the sky as a bright light (apparently the setting sun reflecting from it). Many of us were outside because it was warm weather, didn't get dark until late.us kids playing back in the days when you had three channels on TV and all doors and windows open because no one had air conditioning.
The object descended very slowly, but was in a straight down descent.no shaking or moving otherwise. It eventually settled right over our street (Phillips Drive) and was huge.
It sat there for several minutes. Strange how there were no airplanes going to Weir Cook Airport during the duration of this sighting.usually, we could expect a jet to fly over every 3-10 minutes.
they would get low enough to rattle the windows because we were very close to the airport. Many adults and children stood in their yards watching as word spread quickly. This craft was directly over my front yard.
It was silver in color. At one point, I distinctly saw what looked like six dots (we didn't have computers then, but now I know it looked like computer data) emitted from the left side of the vessel. They were in perfect order.
After the dots were emitted, the object began a very slow ascent, in the same pattern it had followed downward: straight up, gradually. Eventually it ascended from our sight. I think everyone on our street made phone calls trying to find out what it was.
Dad called the airport and they said it was a weather balloon. But it wasn't a weather balloon. I'm now 45 years old and I have never forgotten this experience.
I'm a lifelong community journalist and have seen a lot of things, but I have never seen anything to match this. I wish I could find someone in the old neighborhood who remembers it. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate.

s.a.f i was 19 at the time going to work at coal mine on the night shift.
this is a high energy location with 10 coal mines and 6 powerplants. what i saw that night was never told to anyone but my family. I do not believe in lights in the sky cause you can see them every night, and if it blinks or its colored it an aircraft get real.
the first thing i notised that was out of place was 2 bright lights, thy appeared to be dust to daun lights over a farmers field . at this time i was 2 miles away on the highway knowing their was no houses there,as i drove this road every night. this was at night and as i turned left off of the highway they were on my right side appr.
70rds away and 100ft high. this was a still summers night and their was no sound, just 2 stationary lights that didnt belong.their was a guy stopped on this road watching them and asked what the hell is that.
i was so curios itold him i didnt know but i had to get closer. as i crossed the farmers fence he said i am getting the hell out of her, quote. as i was halfway to the lights appr.
40yrds from being under them the lights went out showing windows appro. 20 around an egg shaped looking object. at this time they started to move upword slowly as if they knew i was getting too close .
rose approx. another 30yrs and started flying south with no sound at all.i followed in the car for 4 mi.
and could keep up, aprpox 60 mi an hr. as i approahed the river bottoms the roads ran out, but i obseved the inside lights went out, the one bright light came back on approx 3 mi. away and they went down in a deselite area where their is no roads.
the two crafts flew like only a chopper could fly but made no soundwhatsoever. what i saw that night was not a light in the sky, as i was 50yds. away.
these crafts were approx. 100 ft. in dia.
and flew with no sound whatsoever.as a retired military guy, i dont know too this day of anything that flys with no sound.that close.
this was not a light in the sky,it was a close encounter ((NUFORC Note: Date may be approximate, although the witness does not indicate that fact. PD)).

Orange sphere or ball on US 27 in Monroe, In at Coppus Corners Most of this report is taken from information given to me by my mother as I was only around four years old at the time of the incident (I'm now 38) and I remember very little of it. I was laying in the back seat of my mother's car, traveling from Fort Wayne to Berne, Indiana. What I recall is observing a glowing dull orange ball in the sky through the back window of the car.
I also remember the tan (my mother says red) interior of the car. The ball reminded me of the color of a basketball, likely due to the color. This is the extent of my memory of the incident From what my mother says, we rounded a curve on US 27 southbound between Decatur and Berne at a town called Monroe.
After the curve of which there was a small woods on the right, my mother observed about five to ten cars slowing on the straight stretch of the road leading to the intersection of US 27 and State Highway 124 known as Coppus Corners. She says she doesn't remember brake lights, but remembers the cars slowing eventually almost to a stop. From the sky to the right (from the west) she observed an orange sphere or ball traveling downward at about a 45 degree angle towards the highway.
The object traveled to a point just to the right (west) of the highway, made a bouncing movement as if it was hopping the highway, then sped off again upward at a 45 degree angle at an astonishing rate of speed. She does not recall if it disappeared due to the distance it traveled or if it just disappeared. She was unable to give me a size or distance of the object.
The cars in front of us then began to accelerate up to normal speed and she never heard anyone else mention the incident. My mother is a no-nonsense wife of a minister (my father) and says that the incident was "surreal" and she recalls not wanting to discuss the incident with anyone. She was surprised that she did not hear anything about the incident, but that might have been because the other witnesses felt the same way she did about the incident.
The date and time are approximate as I thought I was older when it happened, but she told me that my sister was with us and that she was less than a year old when it happened. My sister was born in September of 1968 which is how I came up with the year 1969. My mother does not even remember the time of year, but said the windows were up in the car.
My mother and I would really like to speak with someone in one of the other vehicles, and that is what brought me to search the website for similar incidents and then post this report myself. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate. PD)).
