single laser-like red light traced numerous straight-line and angular 'waypoints' in Christmas night sky On the crisp, cold Christmaas night of December 25, 1969, I was a 12 year old boy who had received my first substantial telescope as my main Christmas present, still pretextually delivered down my chimney by Santa Claus himself. I was in the back yard of our home in Rogersville, Tennessee, with my father, an ex-Marine Corps fighter pilot Captain and dive bomber who served 4 1/2 years in WWII in the Pacific theatre, surviving the Battle of Midway. Dad had become an attorney after the War and still was always curious about, and knew alot about the stars and constellations.
He was helping me get used to focusing the telescope and learning about some of the major stars and biggest consellations. At approximately 9:30 pm or so, as my father was peering through the telescope searching for Cygnus, he suddenly snapped away from the telescope and stood straight up rigid. He was nornmally a very reserved, almost stoic man of unflappable nature, but he scared me when he raised his voice and started pointing at the sky, telling me to "Look!*** Look!*** What in the world is that??!!" He was wearing his old set of "Stellar" binoculars around his neck and raised them hurriedly to get a closer visual on what I could plainly see with my naked eye was an intense red point of light that moved across the entire sky in a zip-flash, stopped momentarily, zip-flashed away in a another straight line direction to a different point on the opposite end of the sky, remain there a moment and then zipped off straight to yet another opposing several points in the sky.
It finally left the last position we saw it stop at for a second and then zipped off and vanished. The light was relatively tiny, but shown as brightly in that star-filled Christmas night as a red laser pointer on a black chalkboard in an unlit classroom. In modern-techno hindsight, the pattern the light followed would suggest it was intentionally, purposefully and confidently moving with deliberation to predetermined and precise points in the sky while mapping and recording waypoints in what one could reasonably assume was some form of GPS system.
My father had never shown me animated and unrestrained excitement/concern over an event like that before, as he did that Christmas night. In fact, he was so impressed with what we had seen that he felt the duty as a former Marine Pilot to pick up the phone and call directly to the Pentagon in Washington, DC that Christmas night to report, describe, time and date the event. I remember he had to go through several different people until he got to someone who would take the information, and I know this personally because I sat right beside him and overheard him as he spoke to whoever was on the other line, whose voice(s) I could also faintly hear through the receiver.
Again, I remember it so vividly also because it was the first time in my life I ever had heard my father identify himself as "former Marine Corps Captain******* with the *****Unit, Naval Fleet**** Pacific Command" and proceeded to give them his specific official military number he still repeated from memory. That! fact alone impressed me as much as anything. Likewise, when he hung up, Dad said he was glad he called, but had been told that apparently a number of other people had been calling and reporting the same thing, although he had been assured by the Pentagon Official that if they ever determined what it was, that "they would certainly inform him {Captain****]of their findings.
" That call or following letter was never made or sent, as one would now expect. I've always wondered throughout my life if a FOIA request would ever produce official records of that memorable sighting and subsequent phone call to the Pentagon by my now long-dead Marine Corps dive bomber Dad (along with all the other callers, too.) The realist in me says that if those records even existed, it would take a literal Act of Congress to get them produced and released, if even then.
((NUFORC Note: We have spoken via telephone with the source of this report, and we consider him to be an exceptionally reliable, and capable, witness. He submitted another report for a sighting of peculiar orange lights off the east coast of Pawleys Island, SC, an event witnessed on June 08, 2011. PD)).

rapid zig-zag movementsabd departed in a flash I graduated from the Naval Academy in 1966 and was a Naval Aviator from 1966 to 1972. I flew Super Constellations out of Rota, Spain, from 1968 to 1971. We frequently flew back to the United States and were going to refuel in Argentia, Newfoundland.
It was dark and we were watching for satellites which at night would look like slow moving stars. Once we saw what looked like a satellite but was going faster; from east to west. We were going northwest.
All of a sudden, the object stopped and started going in rapid zig-zag movements, then, it abruptly stopped and, in a flash, disappeared to the east; much like the UFO shown in one of the recent Navy videos. I thought it was as far away as the satellites.

Two hovering circles of light(s)/objects This investigation was a joint MUFON of Georgia-ISUR (International Society for UFO Research) project. The interview and investigation was conducted by this writer on 4Jan98 while serving a Chief Field Investigator for MUFON of Georgia and as an ISUR FI. The two witnesses in this case were found to be middle aged parents living in Troup County Georgia.
The couple have several grown children, one of which is a Police Officer with a major west Georgia police department. The couple maintain a very nice rural home, which is a focal point for their grandchildren and many neighborhood children. The witnesses go to great lengths to provide informal recreation in the form of various ball games for these grandchildren and others in the neighborhood.
The husband had recently suffered a stroke which affected his speech somewhat, but seemingly not his thought processes. The wife is still employed by a major corporation in Troup County. During the summer of 1969, this couple was living in Freedonia Alabama, near the Georgia line, the state line being delineated by the Chattahoochee River running north-south.
They were employed in nearby Lagrange Georgia on the 3rd shift at a major corporation. On the event night, they were enroute to work at about 10:15PM. Driving east toward the state line on Glassbridge Road, they had to cross two bridges very close together, the Weehatkee Bridge and the Chattahoochee Bridge.
The Mrs. indicated that as they approached one of the bridges (she does not recall which one) they noticed a circle of lights hovering just over the tree tops at the edge of the water on the left (north) side of the roadway. Her husband stopped the car in the road in order to get a better view.
She said that the light/object was about 25 to 30 yards away, at an estimated height of 40 or 50 feet. She added that the circle of light(s) appeared white in color and about the intensity of Christmas lights, the whole configuration being about the size of a china saucer held at arm's length. She recalled no dimming or blinking, but could not recall if there were individual lights or one solid unbroken light circle.
She added that she did get the impression there was something solid and substantial behind the glow, even though there was no sound. After watching this hovering circle for a minute or so, a second identical circle/object appeared, possibly coming out from behind the first, and they hovered side by side. The Mrs.
then picked up a large flashlight in the vehicle and reached across her husband and shined it directly toward the nearby objects (!). She indicated that the beam projected out, but seemed to 'get lost', as when you shine a flashlight straight up into the air and the beam disappears after going so far. Her husband knocked her hand down, telling her to stop (!!).
At the same time, she noticed that the objects seemed to seperate a little bit as if from having the light shined on them. One object suddenly accelerated away over the top of the car to the south at a high rate of speed, and was immediately followed by the second (both still silent). She commented that they seemed to go from a hover to this high depature speed instantly, and she had never seen ANYTHING move that fast.
She saw them quickly recede to the south, seeming to go upwards a little as they flew out of sight in just seconds. No human or EM effects were noticed. Witness did not recall the weather other than it was summer and not raining.
An interview was also conducted with the husband, who had difficulty speaking due to his stroke. His personal account was similar to that of his wife with just enough difference to indicate the truth was being related i.e just a slightly different personal perspective was being accounted.
He recalled a bluish tint to the glowing lights and felt that they followed more closely the direction of the roadway when leaving with the incredible burst of speed. Both witnesses were shocked by this event and had held it in for 29 years. Their home in Troup County is within a location known as the 'Troup-Heard UFO Corridor' due to the extreme number of UFO reports by reliable witnesses in recent years.
The publicity generated by these reports convinced this couple that they would be taken seriously if a report was filed. (Note: The event site in this case is also in the same 'Troup-Heard Corridor', although the creation of West Point Lake in the 70's has done away with the bridges described above and obliterated many miles of river). Both witnesses seemed to be completely truthful with this FI and the various cognitive and kinesic interview techniques uncovered no inconsistancies or indications of deception.
This couple is exactly what they appear to be; hard working and loving parents proud of their successful grown children and doting on their many grandchildren. (To quote the Mrs. "One thing we do right down here is raise kids!")
