Hovering object with circulating yellow and green lights slowly began to move before attaining hyper speed from virtual dead stop While driving towards a remote and rural school pearched atop a small mountain ridge for an evening athlethic event in extreme northwest Alabama, my mother and I witnessed an object that appeared to be hovering just above (500 - 700 ft) the school that we were driving towards. We were drving up hill and the winding road caused us to lose site for a couple different moments, but it became visable again each time our vision cleared. We could not see the school, but we could see how the night sky was slightly illuminated by the presence of the school and associated ground lights.
It appeared that the hovering object was observing the location. The object appeared circular in shape (not round, but more disk shape). There were slowly rotating lights that I beleive to have been yellow and green in color.
After having watched this object and having seen it for a sustained period of time, and from different angles, there was no doubt that we were seeing an actual object and not any type of projected light or reflection, etc. As peculiar and interesting as the sighting had been, what followed was most remarkable. I would suspect our distance from the scene to have been about perhaps a quarter of a mile, at the time.
We noticed that the object began to move slowly away from the ground illumination, and then, in a instant the object from an almost dead stop accelerated to an incredible speed that took it away from our vision in a fraction of a second. It didn't just disappear, it disapppeared as a result of distance covered from our location. We saw it go truly out of sight.
It left no light trail of any type whatsoever. What we saw was clearly visible and clearly trackable. It was a clear night and we had even discussed the event as it was taking place.
Our view was excellent for the sighting. It truly looked like it was observing the mountain top scene, and simply left when it was done. It's possible we spooked it off as we progressively drew closer to the locale with our car lights pointing in its general direction.
The event is etched in my mind and always will be. I never gave much (and still don't) to the idea of it being extraterrestrial in nature, but it was without any question and unidentified flying object unlike any known then or today.

Lights appear out of the woods and chase vehicle. I am writing about something that happened when I was 19 years old. It occurred on Wednesday, October 17, 1973, on the outskirts of Montgomery, Alabama.
I have always wanted to report it, but I never realized there was a National Reporting Center until now. When I was 19 I kept a diary and I wrote about this incident in my diary. But even if I hadn’t written about it at that time, the occurrence and the terror we felt, will always be clear in my memory.
This is my account of what happened: It was approximately 11:30 p.m. on Oct 17 1973.
My boyfriend (who was a sergeant in the air force) and I (a college student and worked full time) had driven out to the country. We wanted to find a quiet, romantic place to park and spend some time alone together. We went to an area where some new roads had been cut through the woods.
An area that was being prepared to build new homes, but no homes had been started to be built yet. Only the roads had been cleared. The woods around the roads were still thick with trees and undergrowth.
We drove a good distance down the first new road until we came to a small cul-de-sac road that was cut back deep into the wooded area. We drove to the end of the cul-de-sac and parked the car, facing up hill to the main road. We sat and talked for a while before we noticed a bright light moving slowly across the tops of the trees in the distance.
it was across the main road a distance away. We both watched this light for approximately ten minutes. At first we thought it was a helicopter because it would move slowly across the trees and then stop in mid air, hover for a minute then continue slowly down the tree line.
Once or twice it disappeared down behind the trees but it would reappear a few seconds later. We rolled our windows down to see if we could hear the whirring of helicopter blades - but there was no sound at all. Total quiet.
We kept speculating what it could be as we were perplexed that it made no sound. It finally moved on out of our vision so we shrugged our shoulders and changed the subject. I’m not sure how much time passed.
maybe 5 minutes but not more than 15 minutes when a bright light, like a huge spot light, flashed across our vehicle. It didn’t stop and shine on the vehicle, it only flashed across our vehicle. We both jumped and said, "What was THAT?" My heart started pounding.
We looked all around us and didn’t see anything that would have caused a bright light like that to flash on the car. We looked at each other, both of us frightened, said not a word but my boyfriend cranked up the car to get out of there. As soon as we cranked the car, a bright light - about the size of a basket ball - came floating out of the woods - about 5 to 6 feet off the ground - quickly towards our car.
I say floating because it wasn’t bobbing up and down like it would if someone had a big spot light and was running with it.it wasn’t making any sound at all so it wasn’t a motorized vehicle, no bicycle could come through those thick woods like this light was.it was floating out of the woods at a very fast speed directly towards the car.
We sped up the hill to turn off of the cul-de-sac onto the main road that lead out of that area. As we approached the main road, a second light appeared from the other side of the cul-de-sac and began pursuit of our car at an even faster rate of speed. My boyfriend floored the accelerator as we turned onto the main road.
The two lights did not follow the road behind us….they took a short cut across the woods between the cul-de-sac and the main road …. I mean straight through those thick woods…never slowed down, never veered or bobbed around….
never making a sound…just floated straight across and through the heavy woods and out onto the main road directly behind our vehicle. I was panic stricken and screaming to go faster, go faster. The lights stayed right behind us and my boyfriend was driving as fast as he could on that back country road.
As we approached the exit out of that area onto the county road where there was other traffic, the lights vanished. During this incident, all we saw were the lights….we could see nothing of what was behind them.
We heard not a sound. The few people I told about this story, said it was quite interesting but had the “weirdo liar“ looks on their faces. But I know what happened and my boyfriend knew what happened and there was no explanation to what happened to us.

Glowing Green UFO seen by myself (mom) and my 4 children very low over our car on a Friday night in Alabama in 1973. I was listening to Mr. Davenport on Jeff Rense's show tonight, (3/19/99) and heard him say that he does want "old" UFO sighting reports to add to the data banks.
I thought of calling in to the show, but decided to write it down instead. I thank you for this opportunity to tell what my children and I saw over 25 years ago. On October 12, 1973, our family consisting of me, my husband, our sons aged 14, 13 and 9 and our daughter aged 7, were nearing the end of our 4 year residence in Birmingham, Alabama.
We were packing for a move to Scottsdale, Arizona, and on that day my husband was away on a trip to Arizona to set up details of the move. It was Homecoming for my oldest son's highschool and he and his next younger brother wanted to go to the football game. Just after 7:00 pm I loaded all four kids into the LTD station wagon for the 2 mile drive to the stadium.
My daughter was in the front seat with me and the 3 boys were in the back. Our street was a long one-block cul de sac on the side of a hill. When leaving the street you have to climb up a steep incline, south, to the main cross-street at the top.
The 2 streets form a "T." Across the intersection from our street was a heavily wooded area with no visible houses or lights. Our duplex was about halfway down the block on the east side of the street.
Shortly after I pulled out of our driveway and headed up the hill, a huge, green-glowing hamburger lifted out of the trees across the intersection and slowly moved toward our car. Because of its low altitude and the steepness of the hill, the sight seemed to fill up our whole windshield. I called it a "hamburger" because that best describes the shape of the craft as I remember it.
It appeared to be a solid dark metal ship with a row of lights and/or windows around the middle. The whole UFO was surrounded by a luminescent green mist. As it moved, some of the mist was left behind.
As you can imagine, we were stunned and terrified. Thankfully, I did not lose electrical or engine power in the car. I turned left into the closest driveway, whipped that station wagon around as fast as I could, and headed for home, all the while screaming to the kids, "Is it following us?!?" They were as hysterical as I was.
This thing was monstrously close. Within seconds I had pulled into our driveway and all of us got out of the car to look at the UFO. It had risen a bit higher in the sky and changed direction from its original northerly path.
It was now slowly drifting to the southeast, leaving green mist in the sky as it went. There was NO sound. I ran to the duplex to the south of our building and pounded on the back door.
When the young woman tenant came to the door I excitedly told her to come out and see what we were witnessing. Of course, by the time she came outside there was nothing left to see but the green mist. My kids had been keeping it in sight and told me that it just suddenly disappeared.
The mist stayed suspended in the sky for several minutes before dissipating. I do not know if there was anything of substance that might have fallen to the ground for collection. I certainly saw nothing the next day in the daylight.
I herded my children into our house and attempted to calm them (and myself) down. I gave them all paper and pencils and instructed them to draw what they had seen. (Those drawings were long ago destroyed, but I do remember that they were all remarkably similar.
) I got out the phone book to try to find somebody to tell what we had seen. Nobody. In 1973 I knew nothing about MUFON or any other UFO research entities.
So, I called the nearest municipal police department in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. (We did not live within the city limits of Birmingham.) The polite, but obviously amused officer who answered the phone told me that he had had no other reports of odd things in the sky, and that what we had probably seen was "an atmospheric gas bomb set off at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
" I did not buy that explanation then, and I don't buy it now. I cannot imagine that such a thing would have obvious solidity and lights or windows. Within a couple of weeks we left Alabama.
Because I was so busy with the details of our move I did not have time to do any investigation of the wooded area out of which that thing rose. I was nearly 7 years old at the time of the Roswell crash and remember my mother telling me about it at the time. My interest in UFOs began then, but there was always a bit of doubt in my mind.
That doubt was erased on the night of October 12, 1973. I remember that the first thought that popped in my head when I saw it was, "They really DO exist!" Our children each reacted differently to the adventure. My youngest son was so traumatized he will not talk about it to this day.
The other boys and our daughter don't mind UFO conversations at all. My oldest son has been known to tell about the experience at the drop of a hat. Our daughter was affected the most by the incident.
She had encounters with UFOs and/or ETs after that time, and may still be experiencing strange incidents to this day. She has some conscious memories that are very disturbing. We had no "lost time" that night.
After we had calmed down a bit, I actually put everybody back in the car and took the boys to the game. I don't know how I did it. I told them to ask people in the stands if they had seen anything, but of course they didn't do it.
sure they didn't do it.

Extremely bright light in sky near power plant This sighting occured in rural Alabama on the Chattahoochee River, approximate 20 miles north of Columbus, GA. From my vantage point at Bartlett's Ferry Dam, a high point were one has 10-15 mile visibility, extremely bright lights were seen hovering in the sky in the approximate vacinity of Ga. Power Company's Goat Rock Hydro-electric plant in Lee Co.
Alabama/Harris Co. GA. I observed this light hovering for about an hour before I returned home.
A close relative, an officer for Ga. Power, told me that there were no contruction projects and no bright lights of this type in the area. The lights were too high in the sky to have been from a building anyway, and they were too large and intense to have been from a regular aircraft.

Group to see the "un-explained"in the night sky. The group that I was with had set out on a " mid-night" hike. The approximate length of this hike was one and one-halve miles.
The location and the terraine as well as I can remember was slightly hilly and no hills were over 300 ft in height from a standing on ground prespective, with trees."Waves" of warm and cool air also were recognized.I have not mentioned this episode in my life, with the exception of a few trusted close friends.
The object appeared to have had rotating lights and no sound.the lights were of different colors than those on any air-craft,which uses red, green and clear-"white" lights.I cannot determine what type of "vehicle" or "craft" this had been.
Upon seeing it with others we were not apprehensive or otherwise but aware of the situation at hand.I wish you at NUFORC the best and that the "endeavor" of your work will hope-fully be realized. ((NUFORC Note: Date of incident in June 1973 is approximate.

mid 1970's UFO over Decatur,Alabama The summer of 1973 or 1974, my mother, brother and I were sitting outside on a hot summer evening; I was 15 or 16 years old. The sky was clear. 1 by one, bright neon colored round lights in different colors appeared overhead until they formed a HUGE circle formation; it stayed that way until a cloud covered it and it dissapeared, leaving the star filled sky.
we all oohed and ahhed; the radio announced within a half hour that they recieved over 250 calls about this. They said that the NASA center in Huntsville,Alabama stated it was weather baloons; years later, I saw the same type of 'event' in the movie CLOSE ENCOUNTERS. I have not seen this event posted any place else! It was beautiful, and I'll always remember that moment when I saw my one and only UFO.

Two objects, saucer and cigar shaped, at 3,500 ft. moving north toward Chattanooga, Tenn I was 15 years old at the time. My mother and I were sitting on the well deck (a deck around a well) behind my grandmother's house.
The house bordered highway 72. I saw to the east a saucer shaped object in front, leading a large cigar shaped object. Both were headed north toward Chattanooga, Tenn.
They were about 3,500 feet or less high. Moving at about 200 to 300 mph. Both were approximately three to four miles from my location.
Both moving over Sand Mountain from the south moving to the north. That evening there were many reports on the Chattanooga news of UFO sightings. I can only speculate at the exact month and date.
I know it was warm enough to be outside. So April to October of 1973.

I and two other friends in May of 73 when we were in the military watched two C134'S and a jet aircraft force a saucer shaped vehicle to the ground over Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. It had lights spaced around it at the center and fired a beam at one of the aircraft. I could tell more if I can find someone serious about this.
I totally know that the government lies and would like to know the truth. ((NUFORC Note: Date may be approximate. Duration of sighting has flaw.

We were in the U.S. Army at the time and 18 years old.
The night before we watched the Skylab as was reported on the radio to do a flyby. We saw what looked like a star moving from east to west. Another star like light moved from the north to the south and intersected with the craft.
Followed it for a distance and then headed south. I can't remember if it was the next day or that same night. Then the radio reported that the shielding was missing.
Sometme later i can't remember when my brother in law motioned me out to watch what appearred to be a saucer shape craft over Redstone which was the secret part of the base. We grabbed the binucalers and camera to watch the event. After 15 minutes of watching the craft then two c-134 aircraft rotatiated around the craft and diving at it.
It fired a white beam like a laser at the plane and the plane flew overhead and left. 5 minutes later a jet fighter flew in and dived at the craft and circled it until the craft went below tree top level. Watched for another 45 minutes and the airport for Huntsvive was quiet until 2am.

This is a definate government cover-up UFO 2nd Incident: Around May 14 of 73 the three of us ((name #1 deleted)), ((name #2 deleted)), ((name #3 deleted)) and I were in military Radar school at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville Alabama. ((name deleted)) was living with his family in Madison just north of the base so I would go there often. Around 8pm ((deleted)) said come outside as he saw something so I grabbed some binoculars and the camera and we climbed on the roof of the house.
We could see over treetop level to the secret part of the base where was hovering just above the trees a saucer shaped object with spaced flashing red lights on the rim. After about fifteen minutes two large jet aircraft (possibly C134) circled around and one would dive at the UFO continuously for several minutes until the UFO shot a white pencil beam of light like a lazer at the nose of the jet. The jet flew directly over us and I saw the jet numbers but figured I better forget and the jet left.
Five minutes later a jet fighter came in diving at the UFO. I noticed that the width of the saucer was about the length of the fighter about 60 feet. I didn’t take any pictures this whole time for certain reasons but we could see clearly especially with the binoculars.
Finally the UFO must of got the hint and settled down below the trees. The two jets circled for about 45 minutes then left. During this whole time the Huntsville airport is usually busy but not one plane was heard until around 2am as we could see it from the top of the house.
Since I have space I’ll mention the first incident. Can’t remember if it was the same night or the night before at ((name 1)) house we heard on the radio that the spacelab was launched and would fly over us about 8pm and that part of it was built at Redstone. We stood outside and saw it going by from west to east like a moving star.
Then from the north another object intersected with the spacelab, followed it shortly then went south. We thought we don’t have anything that can do that. Later we heard on the radio that the meteor shielding was ripped off the skylab but that it happened during launch.

cigar shaped low flying after heavy snow storm I was released from the army on February 9, 1973. I drove a fellow enlisted man to his home in Birmingham. The south was blanketed by a huge snow storm that was causing many people to avoid the roads.
I was from Iowa and used to driving in snow. It was an all-night drive to Baton Rouge to see my brother on the way home. The clouds were very low and it had stopped snowing after I departed Birmingham.
I was almost alone on interstate 20 in rural Alabama. When I saw clearly a cigar shaped object, under the low clouds, flying back and forth over a large area. It was very clearly visible.
I completely froze while driving and have not been that scared before or since. Before this encounter, I had graduated in the bottom ten percent of my high school class and had accepted that I would be a labor the rest of my adult life. After this date, I attended a state university earning both undergraduate and graduate degrees and passed the CPA exam prior to graduating.
Although I have no idea if this encounter had anything to do with changing my life, my life was changed dramatically after this event.

Red Light Appears to Go Right Through Cockpit I was on a Military helicopter flight returning from a round trip from Ft Rucker, Alabama to Montgomery, Alabama and back. I was attending the Air Traffic Controller, school at Ft Rucker and it was my birthday so I went for a requested a jump seat ride on a Huey. As we approached Ft Rucker near dusk (approximately ten miles out), the tower asked us to turn on our landing light so they could verify our position.
This was done and the tower reported seeing our landing light and proceeding to give us altimeter and wind direction. Skies clear. Suddenly, cockpit covered in clouds and through the clouds a faint red light (blinking) about the size of an orange was approaching the craft.
The light as it approached became brighter and more distinct. It broke out of the clouds and came directly at the cockpit. The pilots dove the helicopter down and to the left.
Pilot and copilot called tower to ask if any traffic was in our area and they said no. All of us, Pilot, Copilot and myself thought we were going to collide with something. Pilot and Copilot both said they over the helmet mikes that they thought what the had encountered was a UFO.
AS I was further back in the Huey, it appeared to me as if the light went right through the cockpit. I was Distinguished Graduate of the Air Traffic Control School and have seen many aircraft in my days but never anything as unusual as this.
