Big Bobbing red light My husband and I had just come in from a long road trip and were trying to warm our house which sat in the center of 42 acres in an unpopulated area. Something made me look out the window across the woods behind our home. A very large, red light was erratically bobbing up and down above the treetops heading west.
I grew up in an Air Force family all over the world, and have ridden with my father in small aircraft since I was four. I know what aircraft look like. This incredible red light took its time about flying and I called my husband to come look.
After it had gone, I was just stunned and could not go to sleep. I kept checking out the windows for anything unusual. Then, coming down a hill about 500 yards behind my home was a very bright white light.
Looked like someone was running down the hill toward my house. Of course I woke up my husband .who said.
its probably just a hunter. A few days later we hiked to the back of our property to just look around. We found 3 burned areas in a pasture.
Each was exactly the same size and about 12 feet across with a badly burned little pine tree at the edge of one circle. Two circles were right together with only about 4 feet between, but the other was north and about 10 feet from the two. The grass did not grow there for many years.
We would walk back there from time to time just to stare at the bare circles. About a year after this happened I was reading in the newspaper an account of a UFO sighting and was amazed that it too had bobbed up and down in the sky. I knew what I saw was odd, but had never really thought of it as a UFO.
How I wished for pictures of those burned circles through all these years. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date is approximate. PD)).

Big, round , with lights, but no sound, moving slow, father - grandfather - uncle - me standing outside one nite in the driveway about 9 pm. father said look up, what is that, we all looked up, something round about 2-3 times higher than the trees was moving over, it had lights on it, no sound if you was not looking up then you would not have known it was there, I was too ? to chase it on foot, if I had a 30-06 with a big clip we would have a real ufo now maybe. I aways thought why would ufos need lights on it, but it was a real ufo.
((NUFORC Note: Date may be approximate, although the witness does not indicate that fact. PD)).

((NUFORC Note: This report consists of correspondence between two siblings, who were traveling together, and who corresponded recently about the bizarre event they both remember clearly. The date of the event is approximate. PD)) A flattened "thread spool" shaped object with alternating white and red lights passing approximately 500 feet above us.
1/2 hour durati -------Original Message------- From: ((name deleted)) Date: Thursday, October 16, 2003 10:40:32 AM To: ((name deleted)) Subject: Emailing: ufo3 That's almost exactly my recollection, and it's interesting that I can't recall anything about the rest of the trip to Auburn, although I know we eventually got there. I remember the lights more than anything. The only thing you left out from my recollection was that you suddenly yelled that the craft had gone straight up almost instantly while it was still at a great distance, and when I looked up, it was much higher over the horizon.
I've always wondered to this day why I can't reconstruct an image in my mind of exactly what shape the object was, because it went almost directly over our heads at a low altitude. Oddly enough, I've been thinking about this incident a lot lately, but I don't know why. The only shape I remember was triangular.
I wish I could go back to that instant and see it again. I firmly believe that UFO's are a reality, although I wonder why so many reliable sightings describe so many different sizes and shapes of these craft. If you ever remember anything else about that night, let me know.
It's always gnawed at me. Love, ((name deleted)) ----- Original Message ----- From: ((name deleted)) To: ((name deleted)) Cc: ((name deleted)) Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2003 9:30 AM Subject: Emailing: ((deleted)) Dear ((name deleted)), I don't know why I feel so strongly about writing this down. I guess I want to know more about what I don't know, and I believe that desire is healthy.
The amount of time I spend thinking about the "U.F.O.
phenomena; however, well, it might be time spent better doing something else.but I digress. I have read some references made to a U.
F.O. "flap" which occurred in the southeastern United States circa 1974-1975 and in fact I remember reading in the Montgomery Advertiser at that time some articles mentioning some U.
F.O. sightings.
What did we see that night.was it September of 1974.on our way to Auburn? As I remember, we were going up there to a "concert".
a band that a friend of yours was in maybe? What I remember is this.We were on I-85 heading to Auburn from Montgomery and it seemed as if it were around 8:00 P.M.
when we left Mom and Dad's. It seems as if we were about half way to Auburn when I first noticed a bright white "star-like/planet Venus-like light appearing many miles ahead of us on the right side of the interstate. I had been looking at it and initially thought it was Venus.
I remember asking you to look at it and I remember even joking about wouldn't it be cool if it were a UFO but I didn't believe it was anything other than a planet or a star when I first saw it. That is until I / we noticed it moving.crossing over the interstate and coming toward us.
I remember seeing the object changing colors and intensity from bright white, to a dimmer white, to a medium intensity red and back to white again 2 or 3 times. The colors seemed to alternate in time from 10 to 30 seconds. I remember the object crossing back over the interstate to our side continuing straight toward us.
I remember one or both of us saying that the object wasn't any star or planet. I remember the object seemed to cross back over to our left and us pulling off to the shoulder of the interstate. I remember we got out of the car, was it Dad's old Galaxy 500? It seemed as if we sort of just leaned against the car waiting for this thing approaching us.
I remember being very excited at seeing something neither of us had ever seen before but I don't remember being at all afraid. I know I had no doubt that you wouldn't let anything happen to me.not without one hell of a fight anyway.
When it passed overhead it seemed to be over the middle of the interstate.maybe 500 feet up. My recollection of what exactly this thing looked like seems hazy or maybe it's because I had never before or since seen anything that looked like "it" ! looked.
It seemed to me to be somewhat of an elongated "sewing-thread spool" with the flat ends oriented to the top and bottom of the "craft". I had the distinct impression there was an inside and an outside dimension to this "thing" because it looked as if there were a "triangular-shaped 'window' or translucent 'something' giving me the distinct impression of looking into the "craft". I remember thinking the interior was illuminated by red light but that there was some white light or lights on the exterior of this "thing".
It did not make a sound. It seemed to be moving 30 to 40 m.p.
h. How big was it? Maybe 10 times bigger than our car.I can't really get a good grasp of it's size.
I remember we watched it continue on it's way seemingly following the interstate. I don't remember it disappearing. I remember getting back in the car and continuing on our way and I remember wanting to turn around and try to catch back up to it.
It seems as if we did turn around at an exit but for some reason I'm not sure if it was the first exit we passed or an exit further on. I believe we did turn around and head back towards Montgomery. I believe we drove most of the way back to Montgomery but when we didn't see "it" again, we turned back toward Auburn.
I don't remember anything more of that night clearly. I seem to remember standing in your dorm and relating our experience of the evening to a friend of yours. Nothing else.
Well, there, my recollection is put into writing. I think it odd that I haven't written this down before now. I absolutely don't care one wit of what anybody thinks of me recounting this event.
I believe we saw a "craft" under intelligent control that night but I don't know that it was extraterrestrial. I do know that it was something outside of any other experience I've ever had. I hope I have another experience like it again.
I love you ((name deleted)). I'm glad I was with you that night. Love,.

Group of youth on hike see the"un-explained." Group of youth(male) were hiking at approximate time indicated.I here-by have only mentioned this to a couple of friends whom I trust with such credible info.
I am an licensed pilot(but not back then since I was 14.)To this day I,as an person with such knowledge of air-craft of many types know that all air-craft DO NOT have lights other than red, green,or white.Any deviation from this color would possibly warrant an investigation by the authorities.
The lenght of said "hike" was of between 3/4 and a mile going to the destination, and back, thus causing a "hike" of travel about 2 miles. The"leader"and others at first felt what we all interpreted "warm" and "cool" changes in the temperature. The said night was clear and the moon was not out.
Ironically one of the group members made the statement along the lines of wondering if "some-thing" was out there, refering to the sky,I personally told him,not to think like that because no one would be able to explain the unknown. In about 2-3 minutes some-one (M.L.
) just shouted hey look at that, all of us at the same time turned around to see what appeared to be a circle or oval with lights sequenced around the perimeter of the craft, stationary at what I believe to be between 1000 to 1500 feet above the ground and two to three miles away,no other explaination has been given to satisfy my curiosity and wonderment. No sound was even heard from the craft nor were there any types of protrusions(landing gear if you will) or windows could be seen.We then headed back to camp an told the leader of this event, later I asked a friend of mine to verify this info.
,no explaination was given, nor can it be now. ((NUFORC Note: Date in June 1974 is approximate. PD)) ((FOLLOW-UP COMMUNICATION WITH WITNESS)) Dear Mr.
Davenport, I apologize for the "error." I was with the boy scouts then troop, ((troop number deleted)), back in the said years for '73 and '74. I researched to the best of my ability the year of my "visit" and have concluded that it was 1974.
This also was the year I was in seventh grade elementary school. I also saw only one "en-counter". I truly hope to see more, the reason is the Creator can certainly Create more than just man.
Just look in the heavens and any-one with an open mind would be able to see this.I wish you luck on your"NUFORC's" endeavors and also would be interested in becoming an investigator,if possible. I have a very "keen or sharp" mind and also a more personal obligation to my-self,and fellow-man.
Thank-you for your time, ((name deleted)) ((END)).

I vehemently did not believe the sightings of 1974 Spring in Birmingham, seems they appeared purposely so that I would believe, 3 craft, beautiful & "cute" in action, telepathic, not frightening, but with serious intention somehow. A Gordon Lightfoot song came on the radio that is never aired, unique, stopped to listen in front of my house, large craft with white & pastel "oil-slick" laser-lighting/propulsion (?) moving counterclockwise around rim, and a smaller craft on either side of it, all were silent, and to my left at the tree line 200-300 yards away, telepathic knowledge they knew I was seeing them. I still did not believe, thought from Huntsville, Alabama/NASA, but they convinced me otherwise at that thought, by one of the smaller craft disappearing & immediately reappearing on the other side of the larger craft, next to the other smaller craft, this "dance" of disappearing & reappearing continued by the two smaller craft for about four repetitions, then all left at top speed, disappearing before reaching the horizon of their slightly upward trajectory, at the end of the Gordon Lightfoot song on the radio.
