Caller was stopped at a red light on Highway 31, a major highway that goes through Alabama. He was in the City of Estadia, AL, at the time of the sighting. He looked to the north, and suddenly noticed an object flying above the northern horizon.
It was just a bright ball of fire with the speed of a "falling star." The object just shot across the sky! The observer's impression was that it was a large object, perhaps the size of a Boeing 747. The observer's first reaction was that it was a meteor, but it suddenly stopped, did a 180 degree turn, then shot back to the northwest, and suddenly disappeared.
His impression was that the object had covered a distance of 20 miles in perhaps a very short period of time, measured in seconds. After the object started back to the northwest, it accelerated, then slowed, and then regained speed. However, it accelerated very fast, not like an aircraft.
The observer pulled across the highway and went into a McDonald's Restaurante parking lot, where he sat for 3-4 minutes to see if the object would return.

Object had 4 white lights shining their beams behind it. They swept around to the front and it took off north. Me (26) and a friend (32) were driving home from college one night.
We were going through the town of Woodville on Hwy 72, travelling east. Coming over a small mountain, I saw a couple of white lights and a red blinking light. I thought, there is a plane.
See them all the time and it looked just like that. I then noticed, "Hey, isn't that plane awfully low?" Oh my gosh, it is going to crash, it looked like it was getting lower. My friend said, "What is that?" Just so happened he had glass tops in his corvette and I was on the passenger side.
As it came over the top of us, I watched it. It wasn't moving as fast as we were so it had to be less that 60 miles an hour. It sort of stopped, suspended in air over the highway for a couple seconds.
I could see the dark shape but couldn't tell if it was quite triangular or not. The most amazing thing was the lights. I saw a red blinking one underneath.
There were 4 white lights, 2 on the front and 2 on the rear. Now, what was odd about these lights was the fact that they were all shining backwards. You could see the beams off into the night sky.
Kind of like shining a flashlight and kicking up a bunch of dust - you see the beam. Well, when it stopped, all 4 beams slowly turned clockwise, sweeping down across the road and then turned up to shine forward. When they did this, it started moving again and quickly flew north.
It was moving from the south. The mountains there are about 1000-1200 feet high, so it could have only been 1300-1500 in the air. I have never been able to explain what I saw that night and I try to explain away most everything.

Saucer skirts clouds, disappears A friend of mine had come over to visit and we were in my backyard with the dog. As if compelled to, I looked up and my eyes focused on something moving. It was a partly cloudy day, but clear, not hazy or humid - blue skies dotted with white cumulus - we were looking SSE and it was traveling from east to west.
I judged the altitude to be a couple thousand feet in the air and it was moving along the edge of a cloud, skirting it. It looked almost like a frisbee and it was silver. Maybe 3 seconds after focusing on it the craft seemed to turn 90 degrees onto its side where it took on a saucer or circular appearance.
It then disappeared among the clouds it had been skirting. My friend and I looked at each other dumbfounded and quickly went inside. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date is approximate.

hovering ball of fire It's been 10yrs. give or take and i can still remember it.it was like a round object with fire, thats the best i can tell you because honestly, you'd had to seen it to understand what i mean.
It was round bout 5:30 that afternoon i was at my buddies house and we had nothing better to do but shoot ducks, but shortly that got boring to so we just sat there on the patio talking when IT, or whatever it was SLOWYLY CREPT around a VERY BIG hill,(it would take prob. about 5mins to get to the top,if you walked up it), and when i say slowly i mean, i didn't even realize it till he said something, it made absolutely NO sound, nothing. It wasn't the sun niether because the sun was behind us.
whatever this was, it was right infront of us, just hovering, no sound, no nothing. So as kids what did we do.got our guns back out and started shooting at it seeing that from the patio to where it was it was only about 100yds away.
not that far, but because we didn't no better and nobody lived anywhere near there we continued to shoot at it.and yet still IT did nothing.then i'll say about 3mins.
later it left the same way it came, right back around the big hill where you couldn't see anything.we took off as quick as we could, down the patio, down the hillside, beside the pond, and right beside the hill where it once was, nothing.not a single thing.
we told our folks when they got there but they said ok, sure. and that was that never saw anything like that again. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the event is approximate.

The caller was lying on his back, resting in his back yard, staring up at a very bright, clear sky. Suddenly, he noticed a very bright, tiny white speck moving across the sky at a very high rate of speed, and it appeared to be very high. At first, he thought it might be a (daytime) meteor, but it was distinctly white against a blue sky.
The object traveled from directly overhead to the horizon, traveling west to east, in approximately 3-4 seconds. Its angular velocity was much higher than the space shuttle when it returns from orbit, which the caller had seen on many occasions. The object traveled across the sky at a seemingly constant rate, although it changed direction suddenly on at least two occasions toward the end of the observation, when it was close to the horizon.
He had another sighting together with five carloads of young people in 1976. It was a huge object, and very close to the ground, he thought.

I was working security at a local hospital and was sitting in security truck, which had a monitor for the Birmingham Police Dept installed in it. I was looking west when I saw it. It was HUGE and moving very slowly and silently and low to the ground from the West to the East, N/E.
I just sat watching in awe. Then I heard a Birmingham Police Officer yell over the radio "WHAT IS THAT?" No other car nor the dispatcher responded. He didn't say anything else, either.
As the object began to go behind a hill and trees, I asked my buddy who was in the other truck on the other side of the hospital if he saw anything and he said no. I never mentioned it again to anyone. It honestly looked kind of the Enterprise.
