Indiana UFO Sightings in 1975

We saw a saucer-shaped vehicle at night in Indiana in the winter of 1975. At first, it was just a light in the distance that moved erratically. Sometimes it would stay in one spot, sometimes it would move quickly, more quickly than a helicopter or an airplane.

Sometimes lights would flicker. We had to stop at a gas station to fill-up and we didn't even talk about this vehicle that we were following. When we got back on the road, my cousin's wife was driving.

She spotted it and it was closer because it was brighter. This time it crossed over to the passenger side of the highway and stayed in one spot. When we approached it, I rolled down the window.

My cousin and I stuck our heads out the window and we saw it about a stone's throw off the highway, about the height of a water tower. There were windows around it, with what appeared to be lights on top, although they weren't lit. Right after we passed it, it took off with no sound and at an extremely high rate of speed.

Disk-shaped saucer over house w/ a lazer light focused on home I was driving on St Rd 136 towards the town of Clermont, Indiana when I saw 3 white lights low in the sky. As the airport is 15 mi. so.

, I didn't think too much of it at first other than the lights were too low for an aircraft on approach as well they didn't seem to be moving towards me, but me towards them. As I drove nearer the lights I stopped & what I saw nearly took my breath away - permanently. Suspended about 25 ft above a home, was a saucer.

There were 3 "cones" coming from the sides of the saucer: 1 in the middle and 2 others at 45 degree angles from the middle one. At the tips of these cones were the white lights I'd been watching. On the underside of the cones were three colors: blue, red, green.

None of the lights were flashing, and there were no "windows". What terrified me most was that from the underside center of the saucer was the most incredible lazer of white light - about 4 inches wide focused on the roof of the house below. I rolled down my window and sat to wait for another car to come to confirm for me I wasn't crazy; I even pinched myself hard thinking I might be dreaming.

There was NO sound at all coming from the saucer. In 1975, Clermont was still a one-stoplight town on the outskirts of Indianapolis. The saucer was just south of the Dairy Queen by about 3 or 4 houses.

After waiting 10 mins. for another car to come, I got scared and drove to the sheriff's station 2 blocks away but no one was there - at the time it was a 3 man operation. I was so freaked out I drove around for half an hour before heading home.

The next night I was at a small gathering and hesitantly mentioned seeing a UFO when another friend said, "I saw it too!" I told him, "Okay - you go in another room and draw a picture of it and then we'll compare." And by god he had the same picture w/ the cones and all! He said he saw it around 23:30 flying towards downtown Indianapolis at a high rate of speed accompanied by 2 other saucers. They flew directly east until they got to Merid! ian St ( divides the city E/W and goes N/S) whereby they took a 90 degree turn and sped down the center of the city!! Hundreds if not thousands of people must have seen these saucers yet there was no mention of it in any media.

I believe the 12/20/75 sighting on your website is the same as mine - all I can remember is that it was likely a Thur or Fri nite and it was the week leading up to Christms. Of all the reports I've read, none have ever mentioned anything about a lazer focused on a house anything and I've always wondered these last 35 yrs what that white lazer could "see" for them. Oh, and the saucer was of a soft lustre like I've never seen - like and egg painted painted a semi-matte silver.

Large craft with lights and whirring sound. Object stopped mid air. Lights sequenced.

Object darted and stopped twice. In the fall of 1975, I was newly married and enrolled in graduate school at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. My husband had been a US Air Force pilot of T-38s and other aircraft.

He had been trained to recognize the configuration of aircraft. We had visited my parents at the farm in Morgan County, Indiana. We were driving back to college on a dark Sunday evening in the fall of 1975.

There had been a heavy snowfall, but the weather had cleared. There was a bright moon and puffy clouds in the sky. We were driving on I-69 between Indianapolis and Anderson, Indiana.

I saw lights in the sky, and at first I thought the lights were coming from a large aircraft that was in a steep bank (turning). Then the lighted object seemed to bank the other direction. I watched the lights for a couple of minutes.

I had never told my husband about seeing a UFO in 1965. I said, "Is that an airplane?" He said, "No." We watched the lights getting closer.

We were traveling northeast and getting closer. The lights were so close to us, that I said, "Pull over." A couple of other cars pulled off to the edge of the interstate.

We were parked on the east side of the interstate, and the object stopped in the air over a large lighted parking lot of a factory or shopping area on the west side of I-69, near Anderson, Indiana. My husband rolled down his window to get a clear view without reflection. The lights on the craft were in a horizontal row, similar to lights coming from inside a lighted passenger compartment of a jet.

There were also red and green lights on the object. We could hear a whirring sound, but not a roaring sound. Then .

the lights appeared to start moving in sequence .left to right. I wonder now if the object was rotating on a horizontal plane and if the object was turning rather than lights coming off and on.

The object darted to the east and in about one second appeared to be stopped again to the east of I-69, maybe about two miles away from us. "Follow it." .

I said. My husband exited the interstate and headed toward the object. The object then darted in the air to the west side of I-69 and stopped again.

Then it went behind thick clouds, and we couldn't see it at all. We continued our drive to our apartment on the Ball State campus in Muncie. We stopped and ordered a pizza.

It was very late at night - maybe after 10pm. We told the pizza guy about the UFO, but we didn't attempt to report the incident to the FAA or even to the Muncie airport. We had college on our minds, and the next day was just another day.

I felt so blessed that my husband, a pilot, actually saw the object, heard the whirring, and saw how quickly the object could move. I also felt fortunate that I could have seen two UFOs and that I wasn't just seeing things back in 1965. I wonder if there is a kind of convergence of solar systems that makes space travel easier about every ten years.

I live near the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where supposedly the wreckage and the alien victims of the Roswell, New Mexico crash are kept in a secret area. Most of the people who know about it are probably in their seventies or eighties. I wonder if any of them will ever talk.

helicoptor with a spot light on (posibly a police Jetranger) flying Nth towards us at 100 to 150 ft altitude. ufo makes a non banking 90 turn to west.helicopter turns to follow, spot light did not depict a siloette of object.

helicopter contues turn to south and departs. ufo slowly moves off to the west. Only thing visible is 4 lights green,white ed and blue.

I dont recall what order,but they flashed from left to right.object estimated to be 50 ft wide. I wish I knew who was flyong that chopper.

Triangular shaped craft spotted on highway outside of Fort Wayne. Rest Area janitor coroborates sighting My friend and I were driving in my friend's pickup truck on the highway about 50 miles or so outside of Fort Wayne, Indiana. It was a quiet night and no traffic on the road and we're just coasting along.

Suddenly, my friend pointed up at the sky. "My God," he said. "That's a UFO.

Look up there." I put my head out the window and sure enough, there was this big black triangular, maybe closer to a boomerang-shaped ship hovering directly overhead. It was low, too.

Maybe 40, 50, feet. Not even as high up as a trapeze act act in a circus. On the underside there was a bright red light on one side and a green light on the other side.

Both lights flashed alternately and kind of fast. There was no sound whatsoever. Then all of a sudden, it swooped up at full speed from its stationary hovering positiion.

I mean, it didn't start slow and accelerate. As soon as it moved it was already at full speed. It went in a parabolic arc to a positiion about three miles away but much higher up in the sky, still in full sight and it was a clear night anyways.

So I never lost sight of the thing. It couldn't have taken more than two seconds maybe less to travel that tremendous distance. Then it just stopped for a few microseconds and hovered there.

Then it flew really fast in a total reversal of direction and diappeared from sight. I was dumbfounded as was my friend. We both knew there was no technology on Earth, and neither Russia nor America was anywhere close to the kind of maneuvering that we had just seen.

The silent hovering, the speed, the abrupt stop, no deceleration either, it just stopped dead, then the reversal of direction again at a phenominal speed, again no acceleration, it just took off at full speed, flew across the length of the sky and was gone. "We can never mention this to anyone," I said to my friend. He agreed.

We were both so rattled that we pulled into the first rest-area we came to. As we got out of the truck, the little old guy, apparently the caretaker or janitor, walked right over to us. "Well," he said, "did you boys see the UFO?" My friend and I had just promised each other we wouldn't ever speak of it to anybody but here is this guy talking about it.

"Yes," I said, I was really relieved that someone else had seen it. "Did you see it, too?" "Oh, Yeah," he said, "Its been around here for a couple of hours now. The sheriff was just here and he got a call.

Went over to a local farm where they saw it flying around over their fields." It was about 28 ago and I haven't mentioned it to very many people and the one's that I have mentiioned it to, either don't believe me or else tell me about their own experience. But nobody else has the kind of corroboration that my friend and I had.

Triangular object,got within 200 feet,stopped in mid air,took off like a rocket and dissapeared,never made any noise. Seen but did not hear it aproaching from about half a mile away,it proceded to get within 200 feet at about 75 feet off the ground with no noise what soever.It was triangular in shape,dark grey or black in color,with a light on each of it's three tips.

It was probably only going 20 mph.Once it got as close it was going to get,it stopped and just hung there in mid air and no noise was present.It stayed there for about 20 seconds or so,then with no noise it proceded to go in a strait line probably at a 45 degree angle towards the horizen,due south.

And without slowing down,it shot out at a 90 degree angle at a super fast rate of speed and just plain dissapeared,no noise while this was going on.Me and my buddy were at the end of our street playing when we seen this sighting,we were 14 years old at the time. Smoke ring type cloud seen moving rapidly north While east bound on US40 approx. 12 miles east of Terre Haute I saw a car parked in the west bound lane and the driver standing in the road. It was a bright moon lit night and a cloudless sky.

No noticable wind. From a distance I could see the driver looking upward. I looked up out of the windshield and saw a cloud moving rapidly to the north.

I stopped some 1000 feet ahead of the other car, and got out and looked upward. The cloud was a circle like a smoke ring. It was moving quickly and stars could be seen through the circle.

The cloud was dark below as if the cloud was very dense, and the edges seemed to curl upward as if wrapped around something. It went from south to north smoothly and with no distortion as a cloud might have in a wind. My girl friend was yelling for us to leave.

UFO scares cows and starts stampede breaking electric fence My friend and I were returning home one evening, after fishing about 7-8pm. It was clear with no wind or noises. We were taking the back roads home in the country.

As I was driving my friend said look at that. We both saw this object very slowly descending down. It looked like something close to being spherical shape with white lights revolving around it.

We were about 1/4 mile away. There was absolutely no noise which was extremely odd. I turned down the next country and watched this object slowly go down behind a house with hills behind it.

As we got to the house where this went down, there were cows running all over the road, frightened and mooing. They had broke through an electric fence that was popping on the ground. We stopped to try and get the cows off the road, when a neighbor, whom I knew, came down to help.

He asked if we knew what had happened because cows just don't break down an electric fence for nothing. We didn't say anything about what we had just seen. No one was home at the house when this happened.

I've often thought about going back there but that was 40 years ago. My friend and I still talk about it. It was real.

Just the wierdest feeling , like telepathy This was a long time ago,but I had a really strange experiance camping with a friend of mine. We were out behind my folks place in the pasture surrounded by woods. Ihe sun was just starting to come up, and I woke up to a sound that sounde like a grian bin(dryer).

That is a really unusual noise to hear in Indiana in the summer. As I reached to lift up the tent flap,I can remember the grass wet with dew.I`ts like I heard o voice in my head telling me to go back to sleep.

A few days later I found like "core sample" holes in the field. About 4" around and maybe up to 2 ` deep. Pretty wierd for Mom and Dad`s couple acre`s out in the sticks.

Iv`e had a serious interest in OFO`s ever since. Can`t read enough about `em. ((NUFORC Note: Date of incident is approximate.

ORB, small craft; 3 or 4 of us seen this. Back in the middle 1970s I was about 16 years old. I was on my way home on a bike I lived in a trailer court across the street was a lamb farm.

Home was only two trailers left of the farm when I made my left turn as soon as I made the left turn! There was an ORB about the size of a muskmelon it was an orngesh red. It went by to my right about four feet off the ground and if knew it was beside me I could have touched it but it flew by or did it come from me? It flew out to the field at an angle. I toke my bike to the house and walked back to the inter section where I seen the orb but I did not see any thing out there it was getting dark.

Later, I told my sister it was almost 10 pm her and friend and son and myself went out were I seen the orb they thought I was crazy but we looked out in the field that I last seen it. A and there was something out in the field only to see a faint light but there was something going in and out of what ever this was we seen? It was only about 3 football fields away we all seen it could not realy tell what shape it was but it WAS ABOUT THE SIZE OF A small BUS WITH A DOOR IN THE middle. We did not say much to each other and we standing there till 12, maybe 1, am.

We went back home and never talked about it again to each other for a few years and we all still say there was something out in that field that they keep lambs at. And I know some thing happened out there. I never seen that ORB come up be hind me but was so close to me and when I that second I turned my bike I began to wonder if it came from me? Saucer lands on farm This sighting happened many years ago when I was about 12 years old. I have estimated the date, but know it was about lunch time that day because my mother was making lunch for us. (I don't know if you care much for childhood memories, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

) We lived on a small farm and our nearest neighbor was about 1/4 mile down the road. I am the oldest of 6 children. On this summer day we were all outside playing kickball.

I went back to the fence to chase down the ball when a silver flying saucer hovering over my neighbors barn caught my eye. As soon as I saw it, three legs came out of the underside of the saucer and it floated down to the ground behind our neighbors barn where I assume it landed. I called all of my brothers and sisters to watch, figuring it would have to take back off again.

While waiting, I ran inside to get my mother, but she dismissed me as a child making up a story and did not care to come see for herself. I ran back to the fence where my younger brothers were getting bored and had given up on waiting to see it. Only myself and my two oldest siblings waited long enough (about 15 - 20 minutes) when we did indeed see the craft take off again.

It raised up above the barn, retracted its legs, and shot off over the tree horizon very fast. The craft was silver with a dome on top and was shaped like a saucer. It was witnessed in good light during the day and with good weather.
