Florida UFO Sightings in 1970

Pulled over by a ufo using police lights I was enroute to my father's house one Sun. night on a rural road when I noticed blue, revolving police lights in my rear view mirrow. Thinking I had perhaps instigated a traffic violation, I pulled over.

I looked rearward and saw nothing, no police car, nothing. I then looked to my immediate right and saw an immense ufo hovering over the tree tops. It appeared to be about 50 yds.

or more in diameter and was oval in shape. It seemed to be made of a shiny metal similiar to aluminum. The craft was very luminous.

The object just sat there,no noise or any sounds. I looked for approximately five minutes and left. I looked backward to see if it was still there but it had vanished.

My feelings were that they wanted me to see the craft. It was so close that I could have hit it with a rock. I've never had any sightings since then.

36 year old reports an object he saw with his mother 31 years ago. It happened 31 Years ago. I was at a pee wee football game with my parents.

As we were watching the game, a cheerleader said, "Look, what's that?" My mother and I turned around to look and we saw a craft with lights blinking and going in a circle around the craft. The craft was hovering about 5 miles away over Temple Terrace Florida. To this day, I do not remember ever seeing anything like it since.

My mother also claims that she saw something. However, she does not believe in UFOs. She states that she does not know what it was that was hovering on that night.

BRIGHT LIGHT.LOST POWER TO MISSILE SITE.LEFT AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED I WAS STANDING OUTSIDE AT A HAWK MISSLE SITE IN THE PARKING LOT AT ABOUT 1:00 AM AND I SAW A BRIGHT LIGHT COMING TOWARDS ME, I BELIEVE FROM AN EASTERLY DIRECTION TRAVELING WEST.

AS IT WOULD GET CLOSER THE LIGHTS ON THE SITE KEPT GETTING DIMMER AND THE GENERATORS WERE GRADUALLY LOSING THEIR POWER. WHEN IT GOT UP CLOSE I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING BUT A VERY BRIGHT LIGHT AND WHEN THE POWER WENT OUT THE LIGHT JUST SEEMED TO JUST HOVER STATIONERY FOR ABOUT A MINUTE. IT THEN TOOK OFF FASTER THAN ANYTHING I HAVE EVER SEEN MOVE TOWARDS THE SOUTHEAST.

THE GENERATOR OPERATOR'S IMMEDIATELY RESTARTED THE GENERATORS AND I WENT INTO THE COMMAND CENTER AND REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO HOMESTEAD AIR FORCE BASE. THE REACTION I GOT WAS."THANKYOU.

Blue cone shaped light appears from sky and flashes downward as it pursues a family in vehicle. Father, mother, mother's 16 year old sister, 11 year old son with 12 year old friend, and 5 year old daughter were southbound near the coast on a deserted (at that time) stretch of Highway A1A in a Country Squire station wagon. The Two boys sitting in a fold-up seat and facing out the back window were the first to observe a blue cone shaped light beam that appeared to originate maybe one or two hundred feet above the ground and then flash downwards to the ground as it spread out.

The beam would flash and then dissapear only to flash again from another point. The beam was roughly following the path of the two lane roadway and was catching up to the vehicle which was traveling at about 60 miles per hour. The boys alerted the other vehicle occupants who then turned or used the rearview mirrors to see the the blue light.

The father began to slow the vehicle saying he wanted to stop to get a better look. This panicked the mother who was afraid of the light, so the father accelerated and the light was soon not seen anymore. I was the 11 year old son.

I don't really believe in extraterrestrial visitors but after 8 years in the US Air Force and 20 years as a police officer, I am still unable to explain what I saw that night. The hardest and most disturbing part to explain is how slowly the beam moved as it progressed down towards the ground. To the best of my knowledge, even today, light can only be made to move like that in certain tightly controlled laboratory environments and then only on a very small scale.

Rotating colored lights over Pompano Beach Florida in the summer of 1970 I was standing outside of our apartment in pompano beach florida around dusk. It was almost completely dark. I was with my motherand our neighbor next door.

I had just turned 15 on july 14th. As my mother and our neighbor were talking I looked up to the northwest and saw lights coming towards us. It was completely round and the lights appear to be rotating around the rim.

The object resembled almost a child's top, the type you push the handle up and down and it makes the top spin. It passed directly over our heads and was completely silent and there was no wind or any disturbance of the air. I pointed up at the object and my neighbors and also my mother turned and looked at it and my neighbor turned and said that is a dirigible.

It went from northwest to south east over the top of our apartment complex on seventh avenue and dixie highway in pompano beach florida. My neighbor insisted that it was a dirigible it was nothing unusual. On myself only be 15 had never seen 1 before and I assumed he was correct.

After all this time of reading about ufo's I do not believe it was a dirigible but instead something else. I have never seen it since and never saw anything like that prior to that night. ((NUFORC Note: Date probably is approximate.

A white ball was moving across the sky. It has a tail like a comet. The sun was just below the horison.

Then the light stopped. It hung in the air a few seconds. Then concentric rings of white light eminated from the object.

Like the pattern you see when a stone is dropped into water. Then it was gone leaving a glowing green cloud that remained for about an houur or so. The summary contains all the information.

This was contact. I police patrolman. On patrol.

Entered woods to relieve self. On way in, noticed leaves vibration, and low humming. Leaves almost glow prismatic.

As entered further. Saw glowing orb, floating. With suited being standing inside.

It floating 2 feet above ground. Ask 2 questions. One, why we war.

And what, or how we use money. Then said it would return. I have, twice without result.

3 spheres darting around that merged into one that zoomed off I was out in gulf looking back at beach, not sure how far out but I was chest deep in the water. 3 opaque metallic bronze colored spheres were darting around in the sky right over the tree line. saw them for just a few seconds.

then they merged into one slightly larger sphere that shot of at a 30 degree angle and disappeared. they werent glowing or shiney.

2 Orange Luminous Oval shape objects side by side zig zagging at the same time as they moved forward very fast. Before I had the sighting, I had a premonition that I was going to see something that night, and that I should be very alert for it. I was preparing to observe the heavens, as an amateur astronomer.

As I was observing mars in my back yard with a small telescope, looking due south east at it through my telescope I got a premonition to look up, and as I did I saw 2 Luminous Orange Disks Oval shape traveling from the direction of Mars. They were traveling side by side as if they had a tractor beam holding them together. They zig zagged from side to side as they moved forward across the sky, very high up, from one horizon to the other in about 3 seconds.

My step-father and I were drining a coffee of coffee on our porch, waiting for my mother to get home from work.it was still daylight EST and we could see everything very well. Suddenly, an oval shaped craft came down, out of nowhere, and hovered above the ground, about 1 foot off the ground.

This was about 50 feet from where we were sitting on our porch, and acroos a dirt road, in a cow pasture. The craft just hovered there for about 2 minutes, we were silent and just watched it. There was a slight humming noise coming from the craft, there were no windows, that we could see.

This craft was about 5 to 6 feet in lenght, it was domed from the middle to the "back" end of it.the other end was aerodynamic.seems to me that it must have been at least 3 to 4 feet in width.

maybe two beings could have occupied it. Also, it was metallic in color, look like it may have been stainless steel. After it hovered there for about 2 minutes, it slowly rised and then took off at such a speed that it was over the ocean and out of sight in just seconds.

I have told some friends about this, and they all seem to believe me, but I always get the idea they it really scares them that I saw this craft. I think I have the approximate time and dates correct, I was 16 yrs. old when I saw this with my step-father, and I know that he only talked to me about this, and no one else.

Encounter with disked shape UFO on campus of Florida Presbyterian College with 30 others This happened on the campus of Eckerd College (then called Florida Presbyterian College) in St. Petersburg, Florida. Don't remember the exact date, sometime in 1970, I believe in the spring.

There were about 30 of us watching a movie, "The African Queen" in the Student Union in the middle of campus. The movie was over around midnight, and we all walked out of the building. There, hovering approximately 20 feet above the ground in the open area near the Student Union, was a disk shaped, grey metallic craft.

It was not small, I'm guessing approx. 50 feet wide. It had red lights in a band around the middle of the craft.

It was completely silent, and was not moving. I had the feeling that time stopped, we all stopped moving, stood where we were, as if frozen in time. No one said a word.

I don't know how much time past. The next thing I remember is that the craft lifted straight up, made a perpendicular movement, then straight up again, and was gone. Its speed was faster than one could even imagine.

No acceleration time, it was at a standstill, then gone. No one said a word, we all just walked back to our dorm rooms on campus. This was very out of character, because this was a very "radical" 60's type college, with a very verbal student body! I was walking back to my dorm with a friend, and were walking very slowly, as if walking through mud.

I said to her, "Maybe we should tell someone" and she said "No, don't bother". When I got to my dorm, I called the TV station (left a message) and the police (who didn't believe me). That was it.

No one ever spoke about it. I forgot about it almost immediately. Then I started remembering it in detail around 20 years later.

This was the only time in my life I saw a "UFO". If any of the 30 people who shared this experience with me that night in 1970 on the campus of Florida Presbyterian College also remembers this event, please report it on this site. bright light seen hovering over Biscayne Bay on cool clear night My brother,father,two friends,and I,were fishing off a bridge close to Coral Gables by the Sea,near Cutler Ridge,Fl.We noticed an object traveling low(50'-100')over the bay,we were close to the power plant at Turkey Point.The object slowed to a stop,hovered,then "warped" away very fast.

I had a very close encounter with a ufo. It was almost on top of my truck. They were observing me and had forced me pull over.

One Sunday evening in the winter of 1970 about 7:pm, I had decided to go to my fathers house which was only about 6 or 7 miles away. I turned left off Hy. 60 which led me south on a rural road.

I had proceeded no more than about 100 yds. when I was stopped by what ap- peared to be police lights. Having pulled over, I looked back and was perplexed not to see a police car.

(I thought it was the local pol- ice because I was now in the city limits of town.) I thought per- haps I had been speeding or something. At that moment, the interior of my pickup was flooded with light.

I then realized that a ufo had pulled me over by using simulated police lights and that they were now observing me. The craft was by now very visible and exceedingly close. It was about 50 yds.

off to my right and about a telephone poles' height from ground level. It was very luminous and quite large; as big as a football field. It seemed to be constructed of a shiny material somewhat like aluminum and was the typical saucer shape.

(Like two saucers put together.) I observed the craft for a few moments and left as I had read of abductions and I didn't want to be in that category. (scared stiff) I saw no aliens.

There were several things about this sighting that to me were peculiar. The first was the use of police lights and the second was the fact that this happened in a well-populated area (a church and hospital were nearby) as well as in a residential area. Also, the craft appeared suddenly and disappeared just as quickly.

(It didn't just fly in or out, it literally disappeared.) There was absolutely no sound of any kind. I would like to point out that I have never been prone to hallucinations and have always been a very moderate drinker.

(At this particular time I didn't drink at all and in any event I have never drank so much that I would see things like that.) I have always considered myself a normal, well-adjusted person and have always kept an open mind to the ufo phenomena. I am now a staunch believer.
