Florida UFO Sightings in 1987

Strange transparent objec t with red lights at joints seen around 10 pm moving northeast very slowly. Saw a triangular (for lack of more accurate word) shaped object traveling very slowly across the sky from southwest to northeast. There was absolutely no sound whatsoever.

The object did not appear to be solid, rather it was transparent to our eyes and so we could not tell how high in the sky, but would guess around 1000'. There were pin points of red lights at what appeared to be joints of connections. The object looked like toothpicks put together with nothing solid in-between.

Can't remember if the red lights blinked or not. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate. One of two reports from same source.

My family were visiting disney world Christmas of 1987. Because the family was from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, we were staying in Tampa Bay Florida for half the duration of our trip (2 weeks)to Florida. The other week was to be spent at bush gardens at a different hotel.

The hotel we were staying at was called the The Sonyesta. On or around the night of 19 Dec 1987 we decided to visit a restaurant called King Henry's Feast in Miami. We left the hotel in Tampa at around 16:00 on the 19th and drove to Miami.

The King Henry's Feast was a Medieval style dinner and show and the whole affair lasted many hours so by the time we left Miami to go back to our hotel in Tampa bay it was quite late, around 0:00. At around 1:00 am we were on a deserted stretch of highway near - as far as I can remember- swampy country with scattered palm trees. Because it was somewhat dark I can only remember seeing flat ground with telltale plantlife that indicated swamp such as sparsh high grass, rushes and bumpy, in some places, reflective ground indicating stagnant water in addition to the dark outlines of palm trees.

I remember that the moon was full when we left Miami but at 1:00 on the highway it became foggy. My memory becomes hazy at this point, but I recall other cars stopped by the road and people looking at something in the sky. I recall the other passengers in the car gasp and say "oh look!".

I recall seeing three other people besides the passengers in our car. The other peoples cars seemed to have headlights on. The passengers of our car consisted of 4 people.

Firstly myself age 7. I was at that age an avid camper with my parents and that is how I knew what swamp looked like. I am now 28 and a Captain in the PPCLI, a Canadian Infantry unit and I have seen action in Afghanistan.

My father is a doctor who practiced at the St James Clinic and Misecordia hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. My Mother was or was studying at the time, to take her bar exam. She has been called to the bar in Winnipeg and British Columbia Canada.

She no longer practices law but is a stay at home Mom for my younger siblings who were not yet born at the time. The final passenger was my Dad's mother and my grandma who is now deceased but at the time worked at a clothing store for senior citizens in Winnipeg. My Father and Mother were in the front 2 seats of the car and my Grandmother and me in the back.

As we approached what I remember to be one or two cars pulled over at the side of the road with people beside them I perceived 6 light blue glowing lights rotating in the sky. Each was the size of a quarter in my memory, but only because they were some distance away. I seem to recall we got out of the car at this point to look at the lights but I have another memory of staying in the car the whole time.

The lights did nothing but rotate, in my memory at an angle and down towards our car. The whole scene-like a picture- was us, bottom right ground, road bottom middle, other people and cars bottom left. Mid right was shadow of palm trees, mid center was fog but flat bumpy ground, mid right was fog, top right fog, top center fog with some traces of moonlight seeping through and top right were the six blue lights rotating at an angle facing us.

I do not recall how long we lingered watching the lights but at some point during this time I recall glancing out of curiosity at the other people near our car and to our left to see if they were as amazed as us. I recall a man with shaved head and glasses in a white shirt looking calmly back at me with an amused expression. I have conlicting memories of this man; one memory that he was in another car and I saw him through a window and another memory that he was outside the cars to my left at about 9 feet away.

At this point I draw a blank and do not recall if the lights disappeared or we just got bored and decided to leave. We got back to Tampa Bay and had no other encounters since. After returning to Canada at the end of the vacation we did not discuss at all afterwards memories of the vacation.

Anytime I brought up the issue of the lights my mother scolded me, dismissed the event or made fun of me so I soon let the matter drop. Upon remembering this event last year in September 2007, I questioned my father and mother at a restaurant and it took them by surprise. I said simpley "do you remember the 6 blue rotating lights in Florida?" My father remarked off hand (and without any prompting from me) that there were lots of people watchig the event.

My mother then remarked that she had no memory of other people there. We were all 3 of us discussing the event further in the car and my mother became very agitated and angry while my father seemed very curious and trying to remember more, or so it seemed to me. My Mother did give me a detail I had not remembered-my Grandmother had decided to purchase communion which was a book about alien abduction.

My Mother told me all this nonsense about UFOs was due to my Grandmother scaring me. I do not recall ever discussing the event with my Grandmother at all. Please let me know if anyone has had a similar experience.

The exact date is vague but I remember it being somewhere between Nov 1987-Feb 1988. I was heading northboud on 4th st N just north of 54th Ave N when myself and 2 friends saw a hovering rectangular object to the ENE above us over the bay. We tried to decipher what it was against the dark sky.

The rectangular shape contained square like sequential lights with vary faint red dots leading upward to another red spot in the center top of the object. Based on the lights, it appeard to be spinnig slowly while rotating left/right. Kind of like trying to spin and balance a plate on a stick object.

It then crossed over 4th st heading west and spead up fast then vanished into the western sky. For the next 2 weeks after, we saw the same object but higher in the sky and this time off to the west and interestingly they were all around the same time 19:15 to 19:45 hrs. Since then I've never seen it again and never came across anyone else who may have witnessed this.

This cigarette shaped object spun without an axis of rotation! I was 15 and am now 31. We were driving along the beach after having had dinner that night. I can't remember what exact month it was (it was Sep, Oct or Nov) and I now for sure that there was smoke on the horizon line that night from wildfires that had recently swept through several parts of Florida.

There were about 6 surfers heading toward the waves with surf boards under their arms. They were pointing up and then I saw it.a cylinder like a cigarette shaped thing with lots of lights.

The lights were rectangles some on their sides and some standing up. It was ridiculus. I can remember that there was no order to these lights.

Isn't craft supposed to have symmetrical lights? The light source seemed to be soft fluorescent and didn't shine outward. The lights were soft white and there was nothing visible behind them. I estimated the craft was at least as long as a football field.

Anyhow after about a solid 45 seconds of this the lights shut off and two purple lights appeared, one on each end of the thing. Never at anytime did the thing make a single noise. Then it started to move away slowly and began to spin wildly.

The spin was unlike anything that could be reproduced in any object having mass. It spun out of control with no axis of rotation and dissappeared into the southwest sky. That last split second it went from being just hundreds or so feet over the Atlantic to out of sight.

So the distance was like 500 miiles travelled in about one tenth of a second. There was no light trail like the kind the starship Enterprise used to leave. That is what I saw.

My mom and my step dad both saw it too but claim now that they can no longer remember seeing it. I saw this thing just last December, a photo, in my Encarta computer encyclopedia. The only thing wrong with the Encarta picture is that the lights were purplish not reddish.

An "out of the body" experience In 1987 I was living in a small home on a lake in West Palm Beach Florida. One night I had an "out of the Body" Experience. I remember what seemed like my "Spirit" lifting upward from my bed toward the ceiling.

I remember being frightened, (terror) and looking down and seeing my body in bed. In my mind, I kept screaming "Jesus, Jesus." I had expected when I yelled that name I would have returned back down, but I didn't return immediately as I had expected, finally I slowed and then returned to my bed.

I had thought it was "Spiritual" until a few days later. My neighbor was a retired AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER". I had gone into their house to visit and the wife seemed "frightened" of me, at least it seemed that way.

He brought the subject up and asked her to tell me. Turns out, that same night she had seen a UFO over the lake, directly behind my home. This was brought to a head in October of 1987.

(Prior to the out of the body experience). I was on a flight to Florida and had been upgraded to First Class. I sat next to a man in uniform, but had not paid much attention to him at first.

I was looking out the window and saw something. I jumped and quickly turned my head to see if I could see it out the other window on the other side of the plane.He asked me what I saw and I noticed his uniform again.

I had wanted to prove my thought wrong about all this, so I told him what I thought I had just seen. He asked me if I had ever seen anything like that before and I told him yes. Thinking he would straighten me out.

I told him the whole story. He suggested that I write it down or report it. I asked him if he had ever seen one.

He said that he had and had chased one over the skies of New England for about an hour until he was running low on fuel. That really made me think. It has taken me till now to Report it.

1988 Tallahassee, FLA V-shape object with white lights! I was surfing the net when I came across a photo of the "Lubbock" case in Texas. My pulse rate shot up and my jaw dropped. This was almost identical of what I saw at night in Aug of 1988.

I was outside taking out the trash, when I noticed this large object overhead with all white lights shinning down coasting along at a slow speed. I could barely make out the shape, but the lights were shinning down in a V shape, just like the Lubbock UFO!!!! This was a very large object! Much bigger than an airliner. It was about several hundred feet in the air, and made not a single sound.

I was only about to see it for a couple of seconds, because I was out on my front lawn next to the Apartment, and a line of trees next to a hill. I remember all the lights I would say it had the same amount as the Lubbock. I can tell you it had more larger lights than smaller ones.

They were not blinding lights, but they were highly visible looking straight up! I always have been a big Aircraft fan (that’s one of the reasons I am in the Air force). I can promise you this was no aircraft! With all my current knowledge of AF aircraft I never herd of any such type of aircraft then or now! When it got to the tree line all the lights went out of site and it was gone. The direction of this object was heading from north to south.

Green balls of light come from outdoors and enter house Was lying in bed one summer night when I was 16 (not asleep yet/not dreaming) and saw a big, bright green flash of light outside my window. Our house was in the country on a dead end road so it was otherwise very dark. Was about to get up and go to the window when a basketball-sized ball of green light came shooting through the window and then hovered up in one corner of my bedroom.

Then 3 smaller softball-sized light balls came out of the big one and started floating around my room. One went toward my TV and was floating in front of it when the TV turned on and was all static for a few seconds and shut off. Another ball floated to my bedside radio and it turned on as well for a couple of seconds of music and then went off.

The last ball of light went to the foot of my bed and then started slowly moving up towards my head, floating about 6 inches above me. By the time it was right over my face I had the covers over my head and my eyes closed but could! still "see" the green light. After a few seconds I chanced a peek and just then, very quickly, the little balls shot back into the bigger one and the big one shot out the window, followed by another large green flash.

I got out of bed and looked into the yard but saw nothing. Went outside with a flashlight but there was no "evidence" in the yard. This happened very quickly, only a few minutes total.

And besides the TV and radio coming on, it was completely silent.

Huge UFO Seen in Osceola County, Central Florida, Summer of 1985 or 1986 A friend and I were fishing in the evening in the summer of '85 or '86 when we witnessed a singular HUGE object in the sky, AT LEAST 200 yards in length. The object moved silently across the sky, approx. 1/2 to 1 mile above us.

The craft was long in shape, with a box shaped nose (front), a long bridge-like narrow middle and a tail that flared wider than the middle portion then tapered down to a point. The object did not streak by, but instead floated slowy across the horizon line, arriving from the south, moving in a north, northwest direction. The sighting lasted about 2 minutes before the object disappeared in the distance.

The object was covered with many different colored lights, which highlighted its spatial qualities. In a frenzy my friend and I drove home to tell others about the event. The DJ on the radio station that was playing stated that he was receiving a lot of calls about a UFO sighting.

The next day or so the newspaper had a small article dismissing the event as a "russian satelite burning up in the atmosphere". Sorry folks, but this object was crystal clear in appearance and moving slowly, not a streak in the sky. Another poster here described the object like a cruise ship in the sky and that description accurately captures the incredible nature of the experience because it was about as freaky as a cruise ship flying overhead.

I cannot fully impress upon others the extreme size of the object. much bigger than any man made object known to fly at low speed and low altitude. FYI, The other poster mentioned here described what had to be the same event, but recorded an approximate date of June, 1987.

I am quite certain that they were off by a year or two by virtue of the event having taken place at least 20 years ago. Gotta say though, no matter how much time goes by I can never forget that evening. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date of incident is approximate.

This huge UFO blew me away in the 80's along with dozens of others on Fl. Turnpike SE of Orlando. In the mid 80's I had the following : On the way back from my mental health treatment centers in south Florida located in Oakland Park,, Deerfield Beach, and Hollywood in with other centers in Central Florida located in Cocoa Beach, Orlando, Kissimmee,and 2 in Altamonte Springs.

Around 16:00 while traveling North on the Florida Turnpike, a few doen cars were (both North & South)were pulled over with emergency blinkers on. I did the same thinking there might have been a auto mishap or something else. I got out of my car and the occupants of the other autos were out of their vehicles.

Within moments I noticed they were all looking up in the general direction of an overpass. I looked up and saw a huge object about the same size of cruise boat. It was floating in the air about 500 yards above us not making a sound of any kind with very low levels of light in the background allowing an observation of its shape and size.

There were brighter lights coming from what one might call a bridge also shaped in a like way to a large cruise ship. After observing it for 25-30 minutes, I started looking though my car (approx. 2 min) and it was no longer there.

Some people left then noticed a couple dozen people looking and pointing towards lights frmo Orlando in which I would approximate to be 20-30 miles In a N.E. direction.

I had put my camera back in my car but could tell it was many miles away by then and within a couple minutes it sped (using the term lightly) in the general direction of Cape Kennedy to the east. With in a couple days, the Orlando Sentinal said many reports of this object and the local Air Force said it may have been the Goodyear blimp. This was before the internet and no one had any idea where to report such a U.

state road 72 disk with lights around it flew in a fast horizontal motion. My husband and I were traveling on state road 72 around myaka state park. He saw the disk with lights around it, he woke me up and we pulled over.

we both saw it plain as day hoovering and then it flew away in a fast hoizontal movement. It made no sound and we both remember the lights around it as being different colors. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date of incident is approximate.

Sighting near turkey point nuclear power plant Miami, Fl. In miami Florida about 20 years ago. I was outside, I looked up in the sky due south and saw a light illuminating the sky.

The light was soo bright it lit up the early evening sky. It moved in a odd and swift way. Many years later I realized that due south from where I was about 5 miles west from the coast is 'turkey point' which is a nuclear power plant.

I wonder to this day if the power plant had anything to do with the sighting. I was with my mother and cousin and it lasted for a good 20 minutes.

This is not the flying spaceship UFO, but since it wasnt on the ground or identifiable this seemed the place to go. For 24 years I kept this to myself and for some reason I really want to report it now. - I try to be percise but this gets a little in depth, since I saw it twice.

In 1987, while returning home, I spotted what I (now)believe to be an Event Horizon, approx 1ft in diameter, gliding next to the road approx 3 ft from the ground and 1ft from the road edge (Union st. 200yd east of N. highland Ave).

At first I believed the object was a smoke ring. I was not on drugs or alcohol, but for some reason my thinking was and my reactions were slow, I had actually passed the object before the (for lack of a better term) Wrongness of it registered. There were no cars for it to have come from and it was not dissapating.

So I turned around and went back to look at it more closely. I was about 2 ft from it when I realized it was no longer moving down the road, It had stopped moving and the circular formation of it was now directly facing me (I never saw it turn, it was facing me when I turned about). It appeared to be a Haze, like vapor between glass panes.

I stared at it for about 30secs before I suddenly believed it was a reflection off my contacts. I turned walked about 2 steps before I stopped myself. I Have never seen a contact reflection and the object didnt move with my eyes.

So I turned and walked back to it. It was still right where it had been. I decided to touch it.

I had just started to move my hand twards it, when I suddenly thought how uniportant it was, turned walked home. Sat in a chair turned on the TV and just watched my normal shows for about 15 minutes, when I suddenly stood and remembered what I had just seen. I had no explaination for why I had suddenly forgotten the object walked away and continued on like I hadn't observed it.

I kinda believed I must have daydreamed it. But in June of 87 I saw it again. I was biking home from a friends house, when I came to the SE corner of Sunset Poind rd.

and N.Belcher Dr. When I saw it again.

It was the same size, the same distance off the ground, and the same distance from the road approx 20ft from the NW corner of the intersection. I crossed N. Belcher and the Sunset Point Road.

I had no sooner hit the NW corner of the intersection ( determined to find out once and for all what this thing was). The next thing I knew I was fleeing up Sunset Point Road. I was in full tilt running for my life mode, Run was all I could think of.

Then I stopped. The fear just went away. I was on Peppermill dr and Sunset point road, and I just sat there stunned.

I did not go back. I went home. I have never seen the object since that day.

I do not know why after 24 years Im now reporting this. Its been on my mind alot lately, which is strange since I barely spared it a thought for 20+ years. I have no doubts about the accuracy of the events, just the dates are approximations.
