UFO sighted by numerous people My lady friend and I had gone to the Dollar General Store in Vicksburg, MS. She was babysitting two children, 4 yrs. old and 6 yrs.
old, who were with us. My friend went into the store and I sat in my truck with the kids and waited for her. It was about 5:30 pm, and the sun was going down.
The sky was very clear and still a light color but the ground was almost as dark as night. The younger child pointed into the sky and said that she saw a light in the sky, which I'm sure was the crescent moon. When I looked up to see what it was, I saw the moon, which is what I think she was looking at.
Then I looked to the side of the moon a considerable distance and I saw a dark object in the sky that was shaped like a plump Hershey's Kiss, or perhaps a teardrop with a slightly flattened-out botton. It was black in a apearance with a pointed top and seemed to have an extremely faint aura around it that my friend also noticed. There were no lights on it, and it made no sound whatsoever.
It was due east of us, as I was looking in the direction of the Mississippi River from the store's parking lot in the Beechwood area. I got out of my truck partway and stared at it. It moved closer very slowly at a slight angle coming from left to right.
I stood and watched it for about 3 or 4 minutes. It got about 30-50% larger as it seemed to come closer. Then it stopped moving and hovered in place.
At this point it seemed to be at an altitute of between 500 and 600 ft. if my speculations of distance and size of the object were correct. I watched it for about 2 or 3 minutes, and noticed that several other people in the parking lot were also staring at it.
A black couple in their late twenties spoke to me briefly about it, and I asked the man if it seemed like it was about 500 yards away, no more than 1000. He agreed that it was about that far away. My friend came out of the store and watched it with me.
After another minute or two, it began to slowly move upward. I drove Sharon, the kids, and myself toward the object into the lot of a strip mall about a mile closer. I stopped and got out and we stared at the object until it became too small to see.
It took about 10 minutes for the object to ascend out of sight. As it rose, it did not move to one side or another whatsoever. It just moved exactly straight upwards.
I estimate the diameter of the object to have been at least 15 ft. and may possible have been 3 times that size. It was difficult to estimate it's size without knowing it's true distance from us.
It could not have been a balloon of any kind, because a balloon would have moved to one side or another (or gotten larger or smaller depending on your perspective, as it rose. There would have undoubtably been air currents somewhere between ground level and 1,000 ft. of altitude which would have caused a balloon to move sideways to some degree as it rose that far upwards.
It could not have been an aircraft, such as a helicopter, because it made no sound, and helicopters make a lot of noise with their large props, and can be easily heard from a few miles away. If it were any kind of machine with a piston or turbine engine and a propeller, it would have made a lot of sound. Furthermore, law requires that all aircraft have blinking lights so that they are visible by the pilots of other aircraft, yet this object was completely black in appearance.

a bright colored lite appeard in the sky, to the left of the big dipper/ It would change colors and had bright flashes of light behind it, kind of like lighting or a strobe light was behind it. It would change colors from, a red with flashing orange, and then it would go to green with flashes around it. It made unbeliveable movemets, it would go in circles like the shape of a donut, then it would go from right to left and drop real low and then go back up.
It dose not get any closer and it is not moving away. A few min later another one appeared to the far right of it, doing the same type off movements and color changes. We live way out in the country quite away from the town, and you can not see any lights from the city.
((NUFORC Note: Sighting seems not inconsistent with an observation of the star, "Sirius." PD)).

Photographs reveal disk-shaped object and spherical object over Mississippi Gulf Coast My husband and I were taking pictures at the waterfront just before sunset. We actually didn't see the two objects until we pulled up the photos on the computer. I noticed the larger, disk-shaped object almost immediately on the computer screen.
When I enhanced it and enlarged it, I also found a smaller, sphere-shaped object which appeared to be farther away. We had someone who works in surveillance look at the photograph and he could tell us nothing other than it was unidentifiable and that he didn't believe it was any type of conventional aircraft.

Green fireball seen shooting up from the ground I have been so long in reporting this because it didn't occur to me to do so until I got on this site and saw other descriptions of a fireball such as I saw. I'm a natural skeptic thatI would actually see something like this, so I tried to think of what it could have possibly been other than a UFO. I wanted to think it was a meteor or something.
except that it was going the wrong direction! I thought that was something other people could witness, but not me. A friend and I had gone to an AA meeting and were on the way home. I'm not sure of the exact time.
somewhere between 11:00 pm and 12:00 pm. We were driving north and came to a stop light. Over to my left (in the west) and a good distance away, I saw a very large "fireball" shoot up from the ground (or from behind some trees.
hard to tell)and straight up into the air, heading slightly to the north. It was green.as you would imagine green light would look in front of a black back drop, somewhat varied in brightness.
When I first saw it at its largest state (just after leaving the ground) the color was very intense and bright.then the further it went, it became dimmer and less saturated. It appeared and disappeared within the span of 3-5 seconds.
I turned to my friend and asked him if he had seen it too. He said he had. I think that was a relief to both of us.
to know we weren't hallucinating!.

A light brighter than Venus, moving in an 'S' pattern, fades into the darkness of the southern sky. I was out watering my plants the evening of Sept. 27th, when I noticed a bright light in the southern sky.
It was a few degrees brighter than Venus when I first noticed it. Moving diagonally downward toward the west, it began to lose intensity. I thought it was a shooting star at first, but then before it lost all of its light, it curved upwards and diminished.
I put the hose down and kept my eyes on the spot from which I had last seen it. Then, approximately 5 seconds later, it reappeared as a faded point and increased in brightness until it was again the intensity I had first seen. Its path was again in the shape of an 'S' lying on its side.
As it curved upward and began to lose its brightness, I noticed a halo around the dimming spot. It almost looked like an object at this point, (as opposed to a star radiating light). It then disappeared and I saw nothing more.
I observe the sky a lot, and I don't have an explainaion for it. I told a friend on Saturday about what I had seen, and he mentioned hearing of a reported sighting on the Thursday night 10:00 local news. I didn't see the report myself, so I'm afraid the only facts I have are listed above.
If there is any information on this event, I would like to find out more.

I was in 9th grade and had fallen asleep during a movie at a friend's house who live in the same dark and quiet neighborhood. I woke around 3 am, freaked because I had missed curfew and hurried to leave. My friend lived at the end of a cul-de-sacred and for whatever reason, at the stop sign, I stopped and I turned completely around and looked up and there IT was.
a giant bright light gold ball that looked to be far out in the sky, there was no light pollution and on clear nights like this one you could even see the milky way. anyway it shot off all these colors, then split into two identical balls, each shining with more colors, then it went back to one and then just warped into space it seemed, just disappearing. it maybe took a few seconds to happen, it happened so fast.
I was so scared and awed at the same time. I knew this was not anything I could have ever imagined nor anything many people had ever seen. I would give anything to see it again and t! o this day always gaze into the night sky for another chance-glance glimpse whatever you would call it lol.
Anyway I had a walk ahead of me and I nearly knocked on someone's door at 3 am but decided not to despite my fear and racing heart, I usually took a little short cut through a little patch of woods but this time decided to stay in the view of the houses. As soon as I made it home, which seemed the trip home took a lifetime, I ran through the house right into my parents room and shook mom awake and told her what I'd seen, then again all morning, I was too scared to sleep alone so I begged for mom to sleep in my room but sadly she declined so I was petrified until the house was awake again, then everyone at school the next day. and still nearly 17 years since it's happened I haven't forgotten and I never will.
If it was as far out in the sky as I perceived then this thing/s had to have been enormous. but I wonder, why did it let me see it? what would make a scaredy! cat who was always a little apprehensive about being out unde! r the bi g night sky when alone pause and take the time to turn completely around and look up? fear is a pretty tangible thing when you're alone in the dark. also no noise, no hum or buzz that I recall just a very brief and petrifying astonished wonder-struck couple of moments.
that will be with me until the day my life draws to an end. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate. PD)).

Bright, red pulsing object in the north eastern section of the sky. On 18 July, 2001, at approximately 0445hrs my supervisor and I were on duty at a location approximately 15 miles south of Hattiesburg, MS. We were standing outside of our patrol vehicles.
My supervisor called my attention to a "bright star" low in sky to the north east. Upon seeing this very bright, red twinkling object I first thought that it was a planet, then the object faded out and disappeared. We thought that maybe a cloud had passed in front of this object that we were still assuming was a planet or star, although the night was relatively clear as one could plainly see the cresent moon.
Approximately five minutes later, this object reappeared at what appeared to be a higher altitude and began to slowly become very dim and then very bright, as if someone were playing with a dimmer switch on a light bulb. I retrieved a pair of 10 by 25 binoculars that I keep with my duty gear and again looked at the object. Through the binoculars, three seperate objects could be seen in a tight triangle formation.
By this time, around 0500hrs, vehicles were passing by our location, but noone elese seemed to notice the object, as it looked like a "normal" star unless one watched it for a few minutes and noticed it's strange behavior. At dawn, around 0530hrs, the object seemed to stabilize at a constant brightness and ended the pulsing effect. At 0545hrs, with sufficient sunlight, when looking at the object through my binoculars, the three lights were still distinct, although now they were a bright white color, with what appeared to be some sort of solid object behind them, visible only through the binoculars.
At this time, the moon and this object were the only visible objects in the sky, but by this time, if one did not know where to look, one would probably not notice it. By 0600, with the glare of the rising sun, the object was no longer visible. I have six years of law enforcement/security experience, with many nights being spent on the overnight shift.
I, nor my supervisor, who has over ten! years e xperience, have never seen anything like this object. I have seen satellites and had an astronomy course in college and do not remember studying any know heavenly objects visible from earth that act in this manner. Approximately six months ago I did see something similar but dismissed it as an aircraft or figment of my imagination because it only lasted a few seconds.

Strange events in the sky above Durant, Mississippi On or about 7/16/2001 while driving through Mississippi I had an experience, which although brief, totally changed my perception and beliefs on UFO’s. I at the time was testing my wings as an OTR truck driver. Partly because I made descent money for a twenty two year old, mostly because I was able to see many things I wasn't sure I would ever get to see otherwise.
As a team driver at the time I typically drove at night, usually 9:00 pm to 5:00 am. Of course this was a great time to watch the sky as I often did. Strangely enough I was driving through Mississippi on a very sunny summer day.
It was strange because; I never drove during the day and I was in a state I had been through only a handful of times in my short lived driving career. My driving partner at the time was sleeping and it was getting close to the end of my shift. Still very early in the morning I was driving north on I-55 heading home to Nashville, TN in a very desolate part of Mississippi, close to Durant, when I glanced up.
There in the bright blue early afternoon sky I saw three very small dots sitting in a triangular formation. I say sitting because there was no movement whatsoever. The objects were so small I thought they must have been miles up.
I continued to watch the objects as I drove up the interstate and they remained perfectly still in a right triangle configuration. I thought it was so odd because I had the thought that it could be a real sighting, but it was almost surreal. They seemed so far away and they were so small I wasn’t sure what to think.
I have no pictures to document what I saw but, if you saw three of the brightest stars in the night sky shining that brightly through the afternoon sun forming a perfect triangle, that’s what it was. As opened minded as I am I had always been skeptical about the existence of e.t.
life, but watching these objects made me really feel that there was something possibly alien or otherwise unknown hovering above me. My sighting went on for a total of about ten minutes. ! During the last few seconds of what was a very wonderful, but rather uneventful phenomena the objects suddenly moved straight up at a rate of speed I could not begin to judge.
They literally disappeared in less than a blink of an eye, but I absolutely saw what appeared to be some type of mechanical movement something not at all natural. It was amazing and I so wished I had the opportunity to get pictures as I was driving. I had somewhat doubted the whole experience, but within about a minute of the objects disappearing the strangest thing happened.
Five Air Force jets, and I’m not sure what model, but fighter jets were doing flybys at and around the interstate. They circled within five miles of the interstate for a few minutes then disappeared. That incident certainly sparked my interest and belief that something possibly threatening and likely not human exists.
Recently I was driving through a neighborhood close to home when I noticed a rainbow in the clouds. While observing the rainbow I shifted my sight about 45 degrees to the right when I noticed the same strange object. This encounter was much briefer and there was only one object I could see.
My friend Keith was with me this time and I tried to get him to look, but when I looked to find it again, it was gone. I’m certainly glad to know there is a website dedicated to discovering the truth about UFO’s. I totally and whole heartedly believe that there is a lot we don’t know, but I think we are on the verge of finding the answer to the age old question: Are we alone? Distant lite circular hovered briefly and then streaked away (not of this world's technology) A circular craft gleaming as white as a lite hung in the sky. Approximately 60-90 seconds into the footage being shot from my mother's video camera it streaked away very quickly. Much faster than any craft we may be aware of.
This is not a joke I have the video I am not necessarily a believer, but until this sighting I was a non-believer. For what it is worth I thought I would share the date and times are approximate the footage is uncomprimisably authentic and from an undeniably reliable source my mother. UFO over Tupelo, Mississippi ???? On the afternoon of (Not sure of date) I observed what appeared to me as many aircraft flying a checkerboard search pattern, or so the contrails indicated. The next thing I saw, was a single contrail going from the lower right to the upper left, only to terminate in what seemed to be a small cloud.I then observed a object that seemed to be tumbling down, but not falling strait down but on an steep angle.
In about 5 seconds I realize it was a airplane. I then observed what I thought to be a single bright light above and to the left of the small cloud. It seemed to be motionless.
I later called the Columbus, MS Air Force base to inquire into what had accrued, and was told nothing was happening over Tupelo, MIssissippi!. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date of the incident is approximate. PD)).

disked shape, black except for blinding bright lights, does not fly as high as commercial jets It was at night and all the stars were out, but then i noticed one moving. i thought it was a falling star at first but it looked peculiar. i went and got some binoculars and looked it was so bright i could see it clearly it moved back and forth very quickly.
it was a disked shape, and black except for the lights. i thought about reporting it but i was afraid nobody would believe me. it was not as high as jet airliners because i could see them flying over it.
i live by a airforce base and my thoughts are some type of a secret test craft was being held.

one object. white on top and red on bottom spinning and darting. Black backgound.
I have pictures on my camcorder. You should see.!!! ((NUFORC Note: We have spoken with this witness, and find her to be a seemingly quite credible and serious-minded individual.
She apparently was not able to submit a more detailed report, since her computer kept bumping her off our website. Apparently, there were multiple witnesses, and we have requested the others to submit detailed reports. In brief, the witnesses apparently witnessed a very dark, circular cloud overhead, with lights in the center of it.
When they video taped the cloud, they allegedly were able to discern a round object, which apparently appeared to be hovering in the sky. We will know more when the other report. PD)).

strange light from sky we were camping out with a group. I have been trying to get my friends to post a report because they actually saw the object. They said it was a disk with varied moving lights and one very bright shaft pointing down at the beach where the campers were.
I experienced a strange sensation of drifting and then awoke in my tent shivering. I sat up and looked out at a very light sky, though it was a weird sunrise and noticed my tent was brightly lit in an orange glow. I went back to sleep .
In the morning we had to pack up and while we were waiting to leave my friends told me of our "visitors". Ever since then I have been checking your web site and am infatuated now with the extent of new UFO activity. Last May I felt like I had been examined by them because I had dreams.
I would like to have some more information and respectful backup to this encounter. I believe that it is time for humans to acknowledge the existence of ET activity and am becomong worried that our government is not prepared for the inevitble. You don't have to publish this.
I need someone to know about my experience. My husband thinks I'm nuts.

Green fireball seen heading east. While attending a little league baseball game, I noticed to the east a green glowing fireball that left a trail behind it. The object was heading east away from my position.
It was commented on by several in attendance of the game. It was about 1/4 the size of a full moon. But this is only a guess as it seemed to be far away, which may explain it seemingly slow movement .

Heavenly object spotted near Jackson, Miss. I was traveling east on I20. Right at dusk, about 30 miles west of Jackson, I saw a beautiful circular (front) object just below the top of my winshield and pretty much over the midddle of the interstate.
I would estimate it was at about 300-400 ft. There was a white star on top (lit up) and 2 colored lights on the bottom. These top & bottom lights both extended away from the circular gold surface The size was about that of a full moon.
I could not tell its speed as I was doing about 75 mph, but it did not appear to be moving fast if at all. As I passed under it, the body seemed to appear much like that of a blimp or fat cigar. I did not notice the usual pointed nose in front however.
The most unusual thing was the body; it was glittering gold and the surface looked like fish scales.

Twice I saw a bright light in the Direct West Sky in Mississippi, then it suddenly disapeared, UFO may-be? I hope so. Hello; My name is ((name deleted)). I live in Pontotoc, MS, we just moved here from AL in July.
Monday March 5, 2001 my husband and my son were coming home from Alabama. It was evening and I noticed a bright light in the sky, in the West. I first noticed it as we were going into Westpoint, MS.
I continued to see the light till we got home. 30 minutes after getting home I went out to my patio to see the light, but it was gone. Tonight in the early eveing dark but still some light, I was sitting on my patio enjoying the nice weather, when I looked in the West sky and I saw my light again.
I went and told my husband that the bright light was in the sky again. It did not move, nor twinkle, it just stayed in the same spot as the one I saw when we were coming home on the 5th of March. As we were watching it suddenly began moving westward then had a haze or glow all around it and began getting smaller.
Not like anything I have ever seen. It was't a plane, that I could tell. My sister in law saw the same light not long ago but she was coming from the west going east.
She rememberd me telling her about what my son and I saw on March 5, 2001. Since I saw it twice now and two seperate wittnesses, is this a possible UFO? ((name deleted)) ((NUFORC Note: Perhaps a celestial body. We are not sure.
