Slow moving 'star' flys across Honolulu skyline. At 5:25 a.m.

, my girl friend and I were driving to church on the H-1 freeway in Kalihi just past the Pali Highway on ramp, when I saw a dot (about the size of a planet or good size star) in the sky that moved from directly infront and above (about 45 degrees above the horizon) of my car towards the north-east, over the Koolau mountains. By the time I said, 'What's that up there?' and my girl friend glanced up, the dot disappeared out of view. I know this wasn't a meteor because we had just seen the Leonid meteor shower just a few weeks prior and this object moved much slower and didn't leave a trail.

The object took about 5-8 seconds to traverse half the sky. I've been told that it could have been a satellite but being the winter time, the sun wasn't going to be rising for over an hour plus I'm not familiar with there being many satellites flying south to north over the islands, they're usually east to west. It could have been a plane too, but there weren't any other lights except for just that one dot, and there wasn't any sillouette as it crossed other stars.

Also, I've never seen aircraft flying over the sky that early in the morning and going in that particular direction. F.Y.

I. I periodically stargaze on early Sunday mornings. In an unrelated event, sometime in 1995 or 96, I recall seeing a series of bright blue light beams shooting up from a fixed point along the Koolau mountain ridge near the Pali Highway area.

This blast of 3-4 distinct beams shot up like a spot light and lit up the sky and clouds in the area. The beams moved very fast and independantly of each other (some angled as low as 45 degrees to the horizon), however it only lasted for about 5 seconds. Keep in mind that there are no houses that far up on the ridges and why anyone whould have powerful spotlights that deep in the woods for a 5 second show is beyond me.

This was viewed by my roommate and I while we were talking outside our appartment walkway on the 7th floor (located on the corner of ((deleted)) St. & Kapiolani Blvd.) at around 10 p.

m. Nothing was ever mentioned about it on the tv news or the newspapers the next day.

Bright Star or Planet when magnified turns out to be metallic saucer shaped object. Approx. Dec.

1st 2001 a heavily advertised meteor shower was to happen with its greatest show at approx. 02:00am from the east. I stayed up for event and it was indeed a spectacle.

As I viewed the show I noticed to the NorthEast a stationary extremely bright star or planet. It was so bright that I wondered what planet it could be this time or year. I braced myself against the corner of my house and took a picture of it with my digital camera with a telephoto lens at the maximum.

When I viewed the image, it didn't really present change differently from the way I viewed it with the naked eye. So, I decided to download to my computer and then digitally magnify it. As I magnified it, it started taking on a shape up 200X before it became distorted.

It definitely was metallic and was saucer shape. It appears that a light is on top but may be a reflection of the sun. I thought maybe this could be a satellite but it remained stationary and didn't move for approx.

2 hours. I, like most people didn't report it because of the possible stigmas attached to the person reporting such things. I feel though that it is an important picture for those concerned.

Sighting of object during meteor shower Approx. Dec. 1st 2001 a heavily advertised meteor shower was to happen with its greatest show at approx.

02:00am from the east. I stayed up for event and it was indeed a spectacle. As I viewed the show I noticed to the NorthEast a stationary extremely bright star or planet.

It was so bright that I wondered what planet it could be this time or year. 11:15 pm. Looking South from the Halekulani Hotel on Wikiki beach, 6th floor. I had arrived earlier that day with my wife, and had NOT been drinking.

The hotel balcony is only about 300 feet from the ocean. I first noticed a disk shaped object hovering what appeared to be 30-40 feet above the beach. At first I thought this was a seagull sized bird flying in place against the ocean breeze.

This seemed unlikely, since it was 11:15pm and the wind was barely blowing. My next thought was that this faintly outlined disk shaped object could be a kite. The object was bobbing and moving like a kite would from my vantage point.

5 seconds later this object moved to my right about 10 degrees behind a palm tree and shortly thereafter re-appeared to the right of the tree. This convinced me that this was not a kite since the object moved too fast and started to ascend slightly. The object continued moving in a slightly ascending trajectory to the West (my right) This movement covered roughly an additional 20 degrees.

Somewhere near this phase of the sighting, the object emmitted a dim red/orange continuous glow, and that's what I tracked for the remainder of the sighting. As the object moved across the sky to the right, it suddenly reversed directions and started moving East in a relatively straight line. Now I knew that this was like nothing I had ever seen in my life.

The object then moved in a counter clockwise circular motion, followed by another pass from left to right. Finally the dim light stopped for a few seconds and then went straight up and slightly to my right. After this point, the light became dimmer and dimmer in the black moonless sky.

I called my wife out to see, but she could not pick up the very faint light at this point, roughly 45 degrees off the horizon. This episode lasted 30-45 seconds. The next morning I repositioned myself on the balcony in order to guesstimate how far away this object was.

Clearly, the object. depending on it's size, was between 1/8 and 1/4 mile away at the early stages of the sighting. (Well below the horizon) This would make the object size about 20-30 feet across.

I am college educated, and I know what airplanes, helecopters, sattelites, and shooting stars all look like in the night sky. I did not hear anything; my encounter was only visual. All these signs tell me that this object was definitely out of this world.

Needless so say, I could not fall asleep for several hours.

Started as a bright star on horizon, silently moved in a east-west direction over us. multi-colored light along the outside of the triangle-shaped craft, absolutely no noise being emitted from the craft ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate. Object would not have been a satellite, and probably was not a missile out of Vandenberg AFB, launched as part of the missile defense system; we do not believe they pass over Hawaii.

i was standing out on my front walkway of my house, when I saw a strange round shaped object fly over my head. i could actually see blue, yellow and a sort of a beige color shining back and forth, like a spotlight almost. it stood there, hovering for about 2 minutes.

im still shook up! i dont know if it was a ufo, but i know this much, it was like nothing ive ever seen before in my life.

Bright red,Beautiful. Thought it was an atmospheric condition veiw of possibly the planet of Mars, but it was pulsating and something just felt different. I then veiwed it with my high powered binoculars and again it was strange.

My partner and I veiwed it for about 3 minutes just stationary and I was thinking how much fun it would be if I had a high powered telescope and then I started to see it move south east, this is when I knew I was seeing something incredible ! It was now a moving object. It continued to move southeast in a straight line and faded out. I'm quite greatful to witness such a sighting, I hope others saw it this evening.

I'm a very well known professional artist and can't wait to incorporate this into my work, and I must say my mind is open even more! ((NUFORC Note: We spoke with this witness, and found him to be a very sober-minded, believable individual. He described the event in very objective, unambiguous terms. We would welcome other reports from anyone else who might have witnessed the event.

we saw this in broad daylight, and the sky was perfectly clear. we saw this object in broad daylight. the sky was perfectly clear.

there was no mistake. a sperical object. moving slowly.

having a trail of " sparks". the color was a very very bright blue, sort of floureswcent. we watched it for about 10 seconds, and then it suddenly dissappeared.

it was beautiful. i feel very fortunate to have seen it. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate.

Strange, fast moving light seen off shore of Kauai. I was standing on my third floor balcony, which overlooks the south shore of Kauai. I looked to the southwest and noticed what appeared to be a "shooting star".

It was orange, and traveling at a very high rate of speed. It was low on the horizon, and was heading in a southerly direction away from the island. It all seemed very normal, until it accelerated, veered upward in a gentle arc, and disappeared from sight.

The duration of the sighting was about 5 seconds.

Unique shaped object in Wahiawa sky.did anyone else see this thing? Object caught my eye as I got off a bus and was crossing the street. It first looked like 3 balloons together, but was moving oddly, like skipping in the sky, moving weirdly, but steady across the sky (not up like a balloon would do) and then it began to change shape or gave a different view and I noticed it was paper thin, and then realized it was not balloons and looked very foreign in the sky.

Watched it slowly crossing the sky heading north west in a steady path, but the object was flexible or flexing. Very hard to describe, but watched for awhile and kept the object in view for a long time. It did not go up or down, no noise and I wish I took a photo.

I'm hoping someone else saw this thing.

bright fire ball cfrossing the sky blueish/green with a tail. we were driving on the road when it came from atop the mountain down to the ocean in an east to west manner. it was so close to the earth brighter thatn anything i have ever seen.

it was blueish/green and had a long tail. I though it must have landed on the ground, but my friend thought it was heading towars the ocean. Maybe it was a meterorite or comet or something.

It was very weird. I do spend quite a bit of time looking at the sky, and consider myself familiar with most of the regular things in the sky.

While walking my neighbor and I saw three very fast-moving lights in the pre-dawn sky. My walking mate and I were walking in our neighborhood in remote Hawaii before dawn when we happened to look at the sky to see three very fast-moving lights. We watched for a few seconds, and the lights totally disappeared, as though behind a cloud.

The trajectory was from the Northeast. We had the impression the lights were getting closer because the distance between the two lights in the front increased. These were not falling stars, as the trajectory appeared to parallel the earth, rather than descend to the earth.

The lights were 15-20 times brighter than the brightest of stars (closer to the size of car headlights at a distance). There was no noise associated with the lights. The speed of the lights was much faster than that of an ordinary airplane.

We do not know how long the lights had been visible before we chanced looking up to see them. I did not see an object, but my neighbor sensed there was an object associated with the lights.
