Driving to Omaha from Souix City south on I-29 between Missouri Valley and North Omaha exit going to Mormon Bridge. Wife asked what light was on east side of Highway.I answered it must be a jet from Epply Airfield.

After about 30 secs, was obvious the craft was not moving. Apprx. 40 cars slowed to about 30 mph in a 65mph zone ahead of us.

Possibly also observing object. 4 vehicles stopped on Northbound side of I- 29 and out of cars with hazards blinking obviously looking at object. Object did a "Backward Sommersault" and lifted up into the clouds and was gone.

Looked for it to reappear in break in the spotty cloudiness but saw nothing more. Noted Helicopter coming from the direction of Omaha metro. Description of object: Saw only Lights.

Bright white lights, one in middle, three on each side gradually decening order. At first sight thought it was lights on wings of Jet. Wife said it looked like a Crown.

I say it resembled a "Diamond Anniversary" ring. Very bright white lights, very clear and brilliant. Were it not for the stationary position and ultimate "Slow Backflip" and straight upward departure I would have said it was a Jet.

Very strange. Can't believe we saw one. Seen by me,wife,2 kids.

I was driving to the store and when I turned onto county line road, I saw a huge triangle shape /_\ just like that,, In the middle there were red, blue,and white lights that seem to fill up all of the middle and the lights were all together.It was very bright and very big,, it was a ways above the tree tops and was lowering so I pulled onto a side road to get a better look but just as it was reaching the tops of the trees,,it was gone.also the shape had a red light on each of the three points.

I wrote to the news channel here to see if anyone knew what it was but I never got a response.It was very bright and very big so I know I cant be the only one saw it.also it was a clear , warm night and I did not hear any noise but it looked like it was about 2 miles away ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that date is approximate.

I WAS WATCHING TV WHEN I NOTICE 2 OBJECTS WITH BLUEISH@RED LIGHTS COMEING OVER THE ROOF OUTLINES OF THE HOUSES JUST SOUTH OF MY HOUSE. I GOT UP TO LOOK OUT THE WINDOW TO GET A BETTER LOOK. WHEN I GOT A BEETER VEIW IT LOOKED LIKE I COULD ALMOST SEE THE STARS THROUGH IT.

THEY WERE NOT MOVING VERY FAST. THERE WAS NO NOISE. THEY FLEW LIKE COPTERS DO SIDE BY SIDE WITH ONE A LITTLE BEHIND THE OTHER.

I KNOW THEY WEREN'T A PLANE OR COPTERS THEY DID NOT HAVE THE NORMAL IDENTIFICATION LIGHTS AND NO SOUND. ((NUFORC Note: We suspect the witness is describing the re-entry event that occurred at approximately 2120 hrs. (Mountain) on Saturday, December 01, 2001.

A glowing blue ball quickly passed in and out of low hazy clouds right above me. On Oct. 31, 2001 While I was on my work break at about 8:35 P.

M. I was driving through the park in my town and a glowing blue sphere-like object quickly punched in and out of some low-lying clouds almost directly over me. It appeared to be going forward at a very high speed.

The whole event lasted no more than a second. The blue glow was a very soft light, and appeared to be "humming". I had my stereo up to high to hear anything, but the perfectly linear path looked as if it moved effortlessly and quietly.

At first I thought that it was a crashing airplane, but that was just the angle I was at, and also it was moving way to fast.

Green Chevron Shaped Craft Drops from Sky and Disappears I and anothar person was travelling down Highway 65 South outside of Carlise, Iowa, which is near Des Moines. To the east of out car we saw a green chevron shaped craft rapidly drop out of the sky and then disappear. It looked as if an airplan was crashing into a cornfield except the craft was an electric green and fell extremely fast and then disappeared before it hit the ground.

A few minutes later there seemed to be a ball of light which changed from green to red to blue to white that was larger than a star and distant in the sky that seemed as if it was watching the area.

Red ball of light plummits towards ground and dissapears. I was driving down I-235 near the 42nd Street exit when I saw a red ball of light enter my field of vision. It was heading diagnally down at a very fast rate.

After about 5 seconds it simply disappeared. I am a ((undergraduate)) in college, and an U.S.

Army ((personnel)) familar with conventional air craft. This object didn't ressemble any publicly acknowledged air craft.

We saw a square object at night, which had 2 blue & 2 red lights at corners, hovering in sky above us. It was 9:15 p.m.

and we were heading east just north of the city, when we saw in the sky what appeared to be something hovering. It was square shaped with two blue lights on the two corners to the left as you look at it and two red lights on the two corners on the right. There was a white or yellow light in the center, but it didn't attract your attention as much as the blue and red lights did and the fact that it was square.

The sky was pitch black so you only saw the lights on the formation of the square. By the time I slowed the car down to a stop the object was in the sky above the tree line, but far enough away you couldn't see details, just the shape and the lights. It didn't appear to be moving and we couldn't take our eyes off of it.

When my passenger rolled the window down to see even better, it took off heading west, but only for a split second and then was completely gone from the sky. It wasn't a helicopter; there wasn't any noise and it was square, and of course we know what a helicopter looks like. It wasn't a plane obviously, because in wasn't moving, simply above us in the sky and again it was square and planes don't hover in one spot above the trees.

I'm thankful there were two of us that saw this object. There was another car on the same road as us and they slowed down also. We would love to know what they saw.

Large,silent,slow,low to the ground dull-black Triangle UFO with round red lights at it's corners that were off .I drew it. It was a very large,silent,slow-moving,dull-black triangle,with round red lites at the rounded corners that were off, it was low to the ground about a few 100ft.

Large, bright white lights appear in a straight line and then disappear While watching a local football game, several of us observed a line of 4-5 very large, bright white lights in the low Southern sky. They were close together and seemed to be coming from one source. These lights would all disappear and then reappear again in a different location, moving to the north and west.

We observed this 5 times before the lights disappeared. These lights seemed quite low to the horizon and yet we could hear no noise such as you might from a plane. The other odd thing was that during this time we noticed a very strong and overwhelming manure type odor.

Since this area is near a cattle farm that would not be unusual, except there was no breeze that night and this odor appeared very suddenly, lasted several minutes and then just went away.

A silent,slow,low to the ground,dull-black triangle craft with round unlit red lightes. It was a large, silent, slow moving, dull black Triangle type craft that was about 200ft. off the ground, with round unlit red lights at each point.

The sky was clear except for a thin layer of clouds. As the craft moved it exposed the clear sky. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate.

I saw a strange light in the sky that moved in a way that convential aircraft cannot move. I was camping at Don Williams Lake near Ogden, Iowa, with my mother and daughter on the night of August 23, 2001. They had already gone to bed, and I was enjoying some quiet time alone, reclining in my chair and looking at the stars on what was a fairly clear night.

At approximately 11:00 or shortly after, I noticed that one of the "stars" in the northeast part of the sky was starting to move. It was moving slowly towards the south, increasing in brightness as it moved. At its brightest, I would compare it in appearence to Venus, but roughly 2-3x larger.

It was yellowish-white in color and made no sound. After about 5-10 seconds, it stopped moving and dimmed to its original brightness. It sat motionless for about 30-45 seconds, then increased in brightness again and shot off towards the east at a very high rate of speed, again making no sound.

It disappeared behind some hills on the horizon, and I did not see it again the rest of the evening.

I am a mature 54 year old adult that has never scene or reported something of this nature. At 2100 hours I was standing outside my house looking to the S.E.

A very. extreamely bright white light decended from the sky approximately one mile away. (I have taken flying lessons and could not believe the brightness of the light.

) Then I could see some blue lights on either side of the bright white light. The lighted object held in one position for about 50 seconds then proceeded slowly to the southeast. There were no aircraft sounds.

I called the local TV station to see if anyone else had reported something of this nature. There were no reports at 2115 hours.

white light changing directions in the sky. We were looking at the sky and saw some regular stars and venus or something like always. but then about 10 seconds later it was pointed out that one of the obects was moving southeast coming from the southwest.

we watched it for a second and it had no flashing lights and was all white. it then started to change direction a little and started heading a little more towards the east, changing direction so we knew it wasnt a sattelite. we watched it until it disappeared over the other houses and we could not see it any more.

Vivid Orange Lites In the West On this evening,to the west of my home,I witnessed two extremely bright tangerine orange lites in the western sky,at first,they were above the tops of very large old pine trees,but slowly moved around the area and descended below tree tops.I watched as they moved slowly around,went in house and got my binoculars,they appeared to have a boomrang shape thru them.As,I had seen the very same lights two yrs.

ago in summer,decided to get car keys and get on highway for a better view.While going to car,I observed them the whole time,got to car,and they dissappeared in an instant.Feeling unsettled,decided not to proceed on a dark road alone at nite.

Spoke to several neighbors who had seen nothing,but did notice alot of dogs in area started to bark as this occured.Funny,thing is--several years back,a 80yr.old neighbor lady called me at midnight one evening because she thought my neighbor's barn was on fire and asked me to check it out,said it was all orange in the sky over his house,my husband and I checked and there was nothing.

We don't know what she saw,but now I often wonder if it wasn't these bright orange lights!Wish I knew if others in my neighbor hood have ever seen these lights.

mother ship On the forth of july a couple years ago i saw a very large dark triangle shaped craft just above the clouds that would stay mostly covered by the clouds the sometimes hung out for breif moment longer then others just to slide back like it was using the cloud to hide .before the fireworks during and for a short while after .it was shooting out multiple red lights"ships"that would travel outward past the horizon in some cases but the entire time was suround by the either going into the large craft or leaving .

the smaller "crafts" allmost flew like the sloweed down films of spores and the the would take a very fluid,fast controll.when "landing"they would even wait ,circle .and slow down before disapearing into the mass.

this was not a helicopter as reported by the paper the nextt day .this was seen by many people .i was in urbandale looking towards the park were the carnival was the larger and the small ships were the other direction of the park but still aboove my location.

i could go on and on about this it was amazing.

slow moving green fireball the object was a vivid green fireball that travelled in a straight line across the sky. the object made no sound but was close enough that individual flames could be observed trailing from the object. the object seemed to be travelling too slowly to be a meteor.

A very big triangle of 20 - 30 green spots A very big triangle composed of 20 or 30 green spots. It travels slowly over the clouds. The green lights were very bright and pure color.

We saw it when it was at zenithal position, and it goes from west to east not far from a highway. The event duration was 5 - 6 minutes in a totaly silence.

Confusing light in North Iowa I frequently sit and chat with a friend after work. Last night we were both admiring the clouds which were nicely highlighted by the moon. We eventually noticed an amber colored light just to the west of the moon.

At first we thought it was a star, but instead of twinkeling it sort of pulsated, also it appeared to be infront of the main haze of the atmosphere but behind the lower clouds as there were absolutely no other stars viewable. It seemed to stay approxamately the same distance from the moon and gave the faint impression of rotation. Neither of us had any binoculars of course so we simply sat and watched it.

With the moon highlighting the clouds it was apparent which ones were more dense and which clouds were very thin. This is important because the light would appear through some of the thicker clouds but would disappear behind a mere wisp of cloud. The light also caught our attention because it seemed to be about twice the size of a star, it didn't move as fast a a plane, and it gave the impression of being oblong ( wider to the front, or the western side; than at the back, the eastern side).

We saw it again tonight, same place,same time, same location in the sky; but tonight (06/07/01) it doesn't seem to pulsate as much and also it gives a stronger impression of rotation. I suppose there is probably a natural explanation for this but I simply can't think of one. ((NUFORC Note: We suspect the witnesses may have been observing a celestial body, either Mars, or a bright star.

Credible witnesses, using binoculars, checking details of huge, nearby object. This report is from Bev Trout, Iowa MUFON State Director, E-Mail address is: [email protected] and she would welcome questions, comments, etc.

about the following report: PhD at Iowa State University,his wife, and three children witnessed this sighting of a "huge," silent triangle, with bright white lights blinking/strobing/pulsing, first seen at about 50-55 degrees up from western horizon, last seen about 30 degrees up from eastern horizon, with traverse time of 3 minutes at 23:45 (9:45 p.m. Central Daylight Time) on May 17th.

5 minutes later witnesses called Iowa MUFON State Director. Subsequent investigaton shows cloud ceiling at 9,000 ft. with family estimating altitude of 5,000 feet, with closest approach 85 degrees almost overhead.

Viewed through binoculars by husband and wife, with 378 feet linear diameter field of view @1,000 yards(translating into approx. 7 degrees angular field). Binocular field of view could not contain the entire triangular object.

That is, husband and wife could NOT see the entire object within the field of view of their binoculars. Obviously, these witness estimates cannot pinpoint the exact altitude, dimensions, etc. of this object, BUT these are credible witnesses who are able to question their own perceptions.

Investigators on this case, having checked law enforcement, Iowa state climatologist, and FAA, are convinced that whatever was seen was, indeed, "HUGE," and since we cannot easily explain it, it remains in the UFO category. ADDED TO INVESTIGATORS' INTEREST IN THE AMES AREA, are reports of a neighbor to the above family having seen an unexplained aerial object BETWEEN/BESIDE their adjacent homes on a previous occasion. ALSO, the wife witness in the above case had a daytime sighting three years ago near the southwestern part of Ames (this is town of permanent population of around 30,000.

student population at Iowa State University obviously swells the population considerably) PLUS, we have been contacted with abduction reports by several individuals in the Ames area - all witnesses thus far check out as highly educated, credible individuals with (as far as we can tell) their "psychological" feet on the ground, i.e. not wanting to over-conclude, but realizing that they've been able to remain conscious at least part of the time during encounters involving UFOs.

IT SHOULD ALSO BE NOTED THAT - only 7 miles from Ames in 1996, two crop formations were discovered, with plant and soil samples subsequently being submitted to Dr. W. C.

Levengood's non-profit laboratory in Michigan, with lab results clearly showing anomalies associated with the formations. AS AN INVESTIGATOR, I NOTE THAT someone else from the Ames, Iowa area turned in a report to NUFORC recently, without leaving their name so that they could be contacted by MUFON investigators. I would like any individuals who are reluctant to report to us to know that MUFON DOES NOT REVEAL WITNESS IDENTITY, unless that witness is willing to be revealed publicly.
