Mississippi UFO Sightings in 1988

A colorful ring of lights hovering over someones house, then it moved away making no sound over the trees. I was in Clinton Ms. standing outside a friends house in her driveway talking.

We were in a residential neighborhood.It was dark out. About 8:00pm.

There were houses accross the street from us. Very close. While chatting with my friend i looked accross the street.

And i glanced up, up above a house accross the street. There were tall trees directly behind this house. And what i saw was a ring of lights in a circle.

It was very large, bigger than a couple houses put together. The lights were different colors, they were very bright alsmost glowing. They were in a horizontal plane above this house, just sitting there.

And i said what the heck is that, well putting it nicely. My friend said i dont know. I said thats not normally there, and she said no.

And i said its not making any sound. It was close enough we should have heard some sort of noise . I mean it was directly accross the street from us.

I said well it cant be a balloon becuase a balloon would have fire, and would not be out at night anyway. Then all of the sudden it started moving. It was almost directly over the house accross the street from us, and directly above the trees.

It started moving away from us. There was no sound. It was so strange.

Anything that big, should have made noises, and that close. It did not move up it went sideways , horzontally. Away from us.

Almost as if it knew we were looking at it. Before it moved it was just sitting there above the trees, then it just started moving , away from us. So i said lets get in the car and chase it , and get another look, but by the time we went around the block , it was gone.

I thought about calling the police, but said noone would believe us. So ive only told a few people about this, and most people say they believe me. Scince this happened to me, im always watching the skys.

Hoping to see something again. I feel very lucky to have seen this thing, just wish i had a camera, but its forever etched in my mind. ((NUFORC Note: Date may be approximate, although the witness does not indicate that fact.

Cigar shaped object, whose ends rotated and blinked lights, the ends separated from main object and shot up quickly above the main one. My Boyfriend and I were heading back to my house in the country late one night on a dirt road in 1988. I cannot remember the date exactly, only that it must have been springtime, because of where I lived during that time.

As we drove we noticed some strange lights in the sky. I was intrigued and told him to turn around to get a better look. We turned around and headed back the way we came.

We drove slowly, and there were 2 other cars on the road. One car was heading in our original direction. It slowed down and then took off quickly.

The other car was coming up slowly behind us. We began driving very slowly, looking at the object. It was cigar shaped and had blinking lights.

There were colors but not a big difference in color, more like changes in shade. Anyway, the lights were on the ends of the object forming circular rings around each end., appearing like rotating ends.

We put the windows down to see if we could hear any sounds, but heard none. Then suddenly, the ends of the object came off and suspended for a second, then shot in an upward direction so fast that it left a light trail. We weren’t quite believing what we were seeing but the ends that had come off then began a zigzag like pattern in the sky, traveling very fast.

We couldn’t believe how fast. We were thinking out loud trying to figure out what type of craft could move that way, but never could think of one. The main object remained stationary, but still had lights blinking.

The 2 objects that had split off also had lights blinking. They returned to the main craft after a few minutes. The object remained where it was and we were trying to decide what we would do.

Then it appeared to get lower in the sky. I was very excited, but my boyfriend was scared. I was acting like I was high on something and wanted to get closer to it.

I was really afraid, but more excited. I don’t know , I must have had an adrenaline rush. We had totally forgotten about the car behind us and then noticed they were right behind us and watching too.

We motioned for them to come up next to us. They drove up parallel to our car and we started talking about what we were seeing. They were obviously scared and didn’t want to wait around for whatever “it” was to come closer.

We did agree that we could not explain what we were seeing. They decided to leave and sped away. It was 2 women, but didn’t get any names.

We stopped in the road and looked at it, then realized it was moving slowly along the tree line. The road we were traveling on was next to a young pine grove, with older trees behind it. It was hard to judge how close we were to the object, but I’d estimate within a half mile.

The object was moving above the older trees and there didn’t seem to be too much distance between it and the tree tops. We didn’t say anything to each other for a little while, then I said I wanted to get closer. We sped up along the road to catch up and then realized it seemed to be drifting towards us, purposefully.

Well, this definitely sounded alarms and we both decided to get the hell out of there. It was almost like, they had “spotted” us. We get home and we tell my parents and siblings all about it.

We go over everything with them to try and come up with a rational explanation. We never did. Time has passed.

I wish I had gotten the names of the other people who saw it. I wish I had pursued more information. I have never been able to come up with anything of this earth that could have done what “it” did.

That feeling has never left me. I married that boyfriend and he has been plagued with “night terrors”, or so they say. He will wake up all hours of the night screaming, or talking out of his mind about “things” coming to get him.

He has a scar that no one in his family can remember an injury that caused it. We joke about it being where “they” took him and did experiments. I know it is not funny.

I truly believe that we experienced something from beyond our understanding. An interesting thing about that is we moved away from Mississippi in 2004 to the northwest US and he has not had one “night terror” since we moved. I had 2 other interesting events occur like this in my childhood that I had put away as a trick of the mind, and didn‘t let myself see it any differently.

I took in a lot more of this event than the others. I am a Christian by faith. I believe the Bible, I believe in my salvation.

I am not afraid that there is something else out there. Many people believe it is blasphemy to believe that there are “others”. I don’t.

Who are we to believe that we are the only ones in the universe? That there isn’t room for more. I don’t know what we saw that day. I may never know.

I do know that, because of my belief in an all powerful God, that ANYTHING is possible. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate. PD)).

I was visiting a friend in Clinton ms. We walked outside in the driveway. Looked across the street.

Then saw a ring of lights hovering over someone’s house. It was at night but it looked disc shaped. The ring of lights was around the outer part of the craft.

The center was dark. The lights were multi colored lights. Red, blue, yellow lights from what I can remember.

The strange thing was it made no sound. I asked her, my friend what the heck is that. I said is that usually there.

She said no. Then as if it saw us. At that moment it started moving away from us.

It never went up. We could see the lights through the trees as it moved away from us til it disappeared. I said let’s get in the car and try to see it again.

We rode around couldn’t see it anymore. I thought about calling police reporting it but figured they wouldn’t believe us. Since then I’ve always watched the sky’s but haven’t seen anything else like it.

It’s forever etched in mind.
