light streak in the morning sky that seemed to fall to the earth leaving a spectacular funnel like plume reaching high altitude. On 12/23/03 at about 7am pacific time my wife sat down with her morning cup of coffee and looked out our livingroom window. She observed a reddish streak of light at high altitude passing overhead in an easterly direction.
It did not seem to be moving rapidly. She observed it awhile and when it seemed to fall downward in a rapid rate toward the cabinet mountain range she called out to me to come see something strange. I was upstairs on my computer and after she called me a second time I came to look.
By the time I looked whatever was causing this effect had apparently fallen on the Montana side of the cabinet mountains and left the appearance of a very tight funnel at its base, very red near the bottom, that reached up to the upper atmosphere. My wife was never able to discern any object, such as an airplane, as this whatever steaked across the sky. As soon as I saw the funnel or plume I got my camera and began taking digital photos.
The first exposure was at 7:15:17am and the last was at 7:26:30. I took 50 exposures. I had to leave for work after the last exposure and my wife said that by 9am the sky was totally clear.
((NUFORC Note: We have looked at some of what we believe are the photos described above, and our impression is that the object probably is a typical contrail. Sandpoint is not far from a major east-west corridor for commercial aircraft heading to Chicago. PD)).

This object has well defined colored square lights that moved across back and forth along a horizontal plane. It's upper and lower section were barely backlit by shimmering reflective white lights bouncing off the surface. About two minutes into the observation I witness a wall off horizontal to ninety degree vertical light rise from the top of the oject.
It rose slowly into the sky until it hit a ninety degee angle and stopped there. The wall of light did not extend beyond the perceived edge of the object though. The object did gain or lose ground in the night sky.
IT simply hovered off the western edge of the sky. It moved twice in my observations. the first was to the right about one inches relative in the night sky.
It then moved back into place and lifted about one inch upward and it was at that point that ((NUFORC Note: Witness elects to remain totally anonymous. PD)).

This all happened very fast, it seemed like 3 seconds but when I went back in, it was ten minutes. There were 5 huge things in the night sky as I looked out my window. They were blood red with 6 black spots each.
Their shape was weird, it was like a triangle but the sides were bent and had three sharp-looking points. They zig-zagged around mostly, but at one point, it was as if they sensed my gaze because they shot a ball of flame at my grass. The confusing thing about the ball of flame was that it extinguished as soon as they hit.
When I went down to look at the spot, there was a brass-looking ball of metal there. Then I looked back up, and one of them was right above me. They shot a beam of light or something like that at the ball and it vanished.
I touched the beam of light when it was there, which was for about 3 seconds, and it felt weird, silky and yet it had a hard feeling to it. Up close, I could see a window in the thing. There was a blue humanoid looking creature looking at me for about 2 seconds and then the thing flew back up and disappeared.
The others were gone when the thing in the sky flew back up.

Bright, steady white light with blue and red flashes Last Friday evening, November 21, 03, just after 10:00 p.m., my husband called to me from a room at the back of the house, "You've got to come and see this.
" He was looking out the window at a strange-looking light about 40 degrees up in the southeastern sky. The weather was clear and cold. The light was white and steady, the size of a very large star, several times the size of Mars during its close approach to Earth in late summer, and slightly to the west of where that planet had been visible in the night sky.
In addition to the white light, it was giving off rapidly alternating flashes of blue and red. We went outdoors and watched for a few minutes, then I phoned the police to ask if anyone else had reported it. No one had.
The dispatcher said she'd send an officer to the vicinity to check, and phone me back if he saw anything unusual. I went back to the window, and the light was slightly smaller, as if it had moved away from us on a direct line. I then had to deal with a sick cat, and when I looked again, half an hour later, the light was gone.
We've had some degree of cloud cover every night since, but last night we were able to determine that there are currently no bright stars in the area of the sky where we saw this light. My husband did see a police car drive by that night, but our phone line was in use on the internet afterwards, and we didn't hear anything from the dispatcher. I haven't phoned back.
This is a small city, and it's slightly embarrassing even to enquire with the police about such a thing.

Triangular object with pulsating lights hovered near Meridian Rd., then slowly flew off towards Boise, ID The object hovered off the eastern side of Meridian Rd. It had 4 sets of pulsating lights underneath, two long ones in the middle, two shorter ones on either side of the long ones.
They reminded me of pill-bugs or fireflies. There were also lights on the wingtips of the object, green on the left, and red on the right. It appeared to be about 150 - 200 feet off the ground, about the size of a helicopter (the end of my thumb would JUST cover it at my arm's length).
After about 20 seconds or so of hovering, it moved eastward, towards Boise, ID, the bottom lights still pulsating, the wingtip lights still flashing. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate. We suspect the witness meant a date in 2003, and we have amended the date above.

While sitting in living room talking about the bible, a brillant flash came through the windows, ran outside seeing meteriors shooting up from directly south. Saw wierd wide cloud forming in the south (full moon lighted the night). About 5 minutes later a screeching sound that woke the wild birds with birds heard squawking in the night.
Same time long period of rippling of the ground and several minutes later low thick clud seen flowing down the hills from the south and could smell odor of burned grass or brush. I know it sounds wierd but we were totally sober and straight. ((NUFORC Note: We have no idea what could have caused the effects described above.

My sister and I were leaving Blackfoot to head out to Aberdeen where Ab-Cent Myndid (local band) was recording a EP. when we came up to the bend in Rockford, we say a craft the was oval, three white lights (two on the bottom upper part and one at the back, and a red medium oval that lined the side. my sister asked me if i was seeing what she said.
she was riding in the passenger side. I was about ready to say the same thing . I slowed down to 30mph befor we entered the bend as we fallowed it, the oval stayed, hoovering for 2-3 min.
remaining in the same place. at that time it was facing us, it wasn't till after thoes minuets, it started moving, turning to the sky with, what appeared to be, the front of the oval towards the direction of Pocatello. it then took off, slow at first, then it reached high speed and took off towards Pocatello only taking 1-2 minuets to get from Rockford to Pocatello when it would have took a normal airplane like 15-20 minuest.
i'm not sure if that's how longe it would take but i believe it wouldn't take 1-2minuets. after we both confirmed what we saw, i knew it was something els.

New Area 51 in Idaho Possibly not alien, more than likely goverment test vehicals. Myself and 4 other National Gaurd Soldiers, noticed two crafts that were in a heringbone formation that came from the east(possibly near Mountain Home AFB) which paused between ourselves and Mars(which was clearly visable). They had a dark purple glow, and didnt move for a period of five minutes or more.
We were at the Orchard Training Area which is about 10 miles SW of Boise. I believe that, Since Area 51 was disbanded and moved to four seperate installations throughout the West, that one is near and south of Mountain Home AFB and the Orchard Training Area. I know that all imformation is being disacknowledged through public Affairs offices.

disc shape or deffinitly oval shape. It was about 55 degrees asmuth on the horizon, and approximently 10 to 15 thousand feet high. I witnessed what at first looked like a airplane, the object turned or rolled, at this time it looked long shaped or cigar shaped, then it rolled to the right showing a oval shape, silver in color.
the sun caught it just right and it reflected the sunlight. then turn upward and within a secound or two it faded out. IT FANISHED INTO THIN AIR.
this was in the pocatello area. and i want to know if there are other witnesses to this phenomenon. no trail, no clouds, nothing in the vacinity.

Bright light above Mt. Home AFB I was outside preparing a fire for guests to sit around for my sister's birthday gathering. I noticed a bright white star-like object moving through the trees above me, roughly 45 degrees above the horizon, moving from SouthEast to NorthEast in what looked like the sky above Mountain Home Airforce Base.
I backed out from under the trees to get a better look. It was as bright as Mars is at first, in fact at first I thought it was Mars, and as it moved it increased in brightness about 4 or 5 times its initial brightness, or magnitude, then turned sharply, roughly 75 degrees from the plane of the horizon, and proceeded up through the constellation Cassiopeia, dimming as it disappeared in the distance. The entire event lasted approximately 12 to 15 seconds.
Living as close as we do to Mt. Home AFB, I am quite familiar with aircraft lights and configuration, and this exhibited none that I am familiar with. We are about 8 miles from the airbase as the crow flies, and even at that distance one can discern the noise of the various jet aircraft stationed there while in flight.
This object emitted no sound. It left no trail or contrail. And Mars was still there, so it wasn't Mars.
Nor have I observed any aircraft performing a maneuver of this nature living as I have this close to an airbase.

Green Orb falling from sky My friend and I were traveling W. on Warm Springs Rd. which is located near Bruneau, Idaho, after providing night fire support at a USAFB bombing range in the Owyhee Desert, which is located S.
E. of Bruneau Idaho. At approximatly 02:30 we noticed a large bright green orb, or sphere, similar to a round Christmas tree ornament, falling straight down from the sky to the N.
of our location. It fell below horizon, and the glow from it remained for a few seconds until it died out. My friend reported this the following day by calling into the Mtn.
Home AFB. He was told by an Air Force Offical that the base landing observation tower normaly closed down at 24:00 and they had no aircraft in the area. "Yeah right" we new that was a lie, otherwise we would not have been providing night fire support at the Juniper Butte Range for the bombers, and fighters that fly out of that base.
Not to mention it is a strategic base, and I would think because of this alone the tower would be maned 24/7.

Low flying green orbs I was riding my motorcycle east when out of the corner of my eye I was a flashing green light. I turned to my right and saw a green flashing orb of what looked to be a half mile away. Actually there were 2 or 3 of them.
They were moving away from me but thinking maybe the local airport had some type of runway approach lights I didn't think too much about it. A few minutes later I was coming back on the same road and I saw them again. This time they were on the other side of the road from before and coming towards me.
They passed to the right of me about 150 yards away. They were about 20 to 30 feet above the ground and were green in color and flashing like a strobe about one flash every two seconds or so. They looked to be traveling at about 75 to 100 mph.
I stopped to get some gas while keeping an eye on them. One stopped about a half mile away. It was hovering and flashing.
After I filled up I went toward it and it started moving again but was gone by the time I got into position. I called the 911 center to inquire if anyone else had reported seeing these things. The dispatcher told me no one had called that night but about a week earlier a policeman reported seeing the lights and just as he was about to point them out of a fireman the lights disappeared.

Object on orbital path around the moon. I was at home enjoying a beer, when a friend of mine suddenly came in and yelled "Richie, come take a look at this!" myself and two others came rushing outside to see what he was so excited about. we saw something that appeared to be a star in close proximity to the moon.
We didn't think anything of it for at least an hour. It just seemed something cool to look at while we passed the time away. I stood there staring at it for a few moments and then told my friends (at this moment, the group comprised of myself and four others) "It's moving.
" They, at first, didn't believe me. We then ran in to retrieve my girlfriend's telescope and I quickly got it centered on the object. It appeared perfectly circular (which is to be expected from viewing something through a home telescope at such great distance), orbiting the moon at what I thumbed out to be at least 500 miles (I was always good at math and spatial orientation).
When it first was brought to our attention, it was in the 7 o'clock position in relation to the moon. What made us realize that this was no planet, star, or earth orbiting craft was because of these reasons: 1- it stayed approximately equidistant from the moon at all times in an orbital path(it is at about the 2 o'clock position as I type this. when we first saw it it was in the 7 o'clock position as stated above.
) 2- any star that close to the moon when it was full but 4 days ago would be occluded by the sun's light refracting off of it. I know this to be fact. 3- I know of no moon orbital sattelites posessed by any nation at this time(of course, there could be some that I am not aware of!) 4- no planet or star could maintain such a perfect relation to the moon.
The object in question exhibited a yellowish tinge and produced coronal light discharge that completely differed from any heavenly body I have yet encountered. To me it somewhat of a mystery, but I have no doubt that what I saw was very doubtfully made by human hands and exhibited behavior clearly indicative of an orbi! tal path around the moon. ((NUFORC Note: We suspect the object may have been the planet, Mars.

Light formation passes directly over 3 witnesses. Myself and 2 of my neighbors were outside visiting and looking at the stars when I noticed 3 lights traveling Eastward in a triangular formation. They were very high up and moving quite slowly.
At first We thought that it might be satalites but, they were moving much too slow and too perfectly aligned. The lights never changed in intensity, color or distance from each other. There was 1 in front and the other 2 were behind and to the sides.
We could see stars pass through the formation as it moved, so I'm sure it was not a solid structure/craft with marker lights. We watched the formation until it went completely out of view to the East. ((NUFORC Note: We suspect the witnesses may have been witness to the U.
S. Navy triplet of "NOSS" satellites, which fly in formation. PD)).

I was outside on the front porch of my house at about 2:30 am MST basically just cooling off since it was quite warm inside the house. I was looking up at the sky for falling stars and I noticed the planet Venus (at least I think it was Venus) to my right (South). Then as I turned to look in front of me (East) I noticed a very brilliant scintillating round, kind of almost diamond shaped looking object.
It was very bright (like lights through a crystal) and colorful red, blue, yellow, purple and green. I stared at this object for a little while and I noticed it began to move rather slowly then stop( it moved a distance of about 24 inches if I measured the distance an arms length in front of my eyes) it also would get brighter then dimmer. I thought it was a weird sort of star at first until it moved, what really freaked me out however was what I saw next, something caught my eye to the right (South) not to far away from the position of the planet Venus.
This was a small bright pure whitish blue light which was moving toward me and at a low altitude almost to the top of a tall tree in my neighbors yard. This light was round, about 6' in diameter and very bright. It was able to start and stop at incredible speed it was moving side to side sometimes in a circular motion starting and stopping like it was looking for something? It stopped almost over where I was at I was scared somewhat by this time because I thought I was losing my mind and I did not know what this thing was and it was coming toward me! The light stopped almost over my position for about 1 minute maybe a minute and a half.
Then it began to move East in the same type of start/stop motion I described this is where it got weirder it moved right into the big scintillating thing and came out like twice moving around the larger object. Then it went back into it and the larger object then slowly moved off to the Southeast until it was out of sight. I have not told any of my friends except one because I thought they would think I was! a nut or something! The friend I did tell knows I am not crazy and I think she accepts the possibility of life elsewhere.
She is more open minded than I or was I don't know what to think about what I saw but it really shook me up. By the way I have a highly technical occupation am a college graduate and have gone to many an airshow. I have logged quite a few hours flying and have seen aircraft, satellites, balloons and falling stars on many an occasion both day and night, these things were not like anything I have ever seen fly before.
I wonder if a human pilot would have even been able to endure the acceleration/deceleration and turns the smaller object made? The G's would have been pretty scary from what I saw! Anyhow that is my story.

Extremely bright light that faded to a small red point of light and accelerated rapidly The night of the event I was standing on my deck looking to the north over the foothills surrounding Boise, Idaho. I witness a bright bluish-white light appear in the northern sky approx. twice as bright as an aircraft's landing lights.
As I watched the light move in a north/northwest direction I noticed there was no sound. As the "craft" moved NNW it slowly faded to a very small point of red light. I carefully watched to see if I could locate the normal strobe or wing lights of an aircraft, I saw none.
Approx. 5 seconds later the "craft" accelerated at tremendous speed and disappeared from sight completely. I have long been a night sky observer and somewhat of an amateur astronomer and therefore can easily discern the difference between what I saw and a meteor or sattelite.
This was neither a meteor nor sattelite. ((NUFORC Note: Date of incident is approximate. PD)).

A rapidly moving "shimmering shadow" with orange leading edges I observed a rapidly moving craft, with a triangular leading edge (in the direction of motion). The trailing edges were more difficult to see, because while the leading edge glowed a dim orange color, the trailing body "shimmered" as if shedding a large quantity of heat, sort of like a mirage. A good description of the overall effect is "shimmering shadow" that moved across the sky.
It traveled in a straight line, with it's leading edge spanning about 1 degree of arc (as estimated by comparison with a thumb's width at arm's length, and traveled about 75 to 90 degrees of arc in about 8 to 10 seconds. I have observed many satellites and meteors in this same location and this looked nothing like anything I have ever seen before. It was not just a point of light - it had physical extent and no navigation lights.
I noticed no sound associated with the craft.

Disc or sphere shaped object - appeared like a very bright star at first One object appeared like a very bright star at first. When it got overhead I could see that it was a disk shaped object or a sphere. It moved slowly at first and hovered for seconds at a time.
It moved in a fluid way back and forth. Came from south to the north and then turned about 75 degrees to the East. I watched it for about 3 minutes until it was headed out of my view, then I ran to my car and headed east out of town.
I got out of town and spotted it. I saw it for only about 1 minute before it began to speed up, then it was just gone. It sped up fast and vanished, I could not discern where it went.
There was no sound to this object that I could hear over the small amounts of noise in my neighborhood. I am able to hear planes and helecopters, and this I could not hear at all. This object didn't appear to be extremely high in the sky(like a jet would be), only at about the same height that a helecopter or small airplane would fly.
Also no blinking lights like on a plane or helecopter. And no chem trail visible (a bright night sky).

An aqua blue sphere with a long trail shot across the night sky. While riding my motorcycle north toward Sandpoint from the Westmond area on hwy. 95 at approx.
11:45 P.M. a very bright, aqua colored, round object with an extremly long trail, caught my attention as it came across the sky traveling from east to west and downward in a fashion that suggested it would impact the ground just out of my line of sight to the west.
I expected to see a flash or perhaps feel a jolt from the event but neither occured. It was simply there and gone. The color was quite remarkable and unlike anything I have ever witnessed in the night sky due to a natural event (shooting star etc.
etc.).

We saw a very large, slow moving craft. I and my wife were driving back from Pocatello. We were about to the raft river area on Interstate 84.
I saw what I thought at first was perimeter lights to a house or a compound. The lights were on the right hand side of the road and seemed to be on top of a hill in the distance. However, after seveveral minutes, the lights stayed at their relative distance and hight.
I then pointed the lights out to my wife. She thought, as I did at first, that the lights were perimeter lights or possibly lights from night skiing. Pomerel mountain was too far distant for this to be the case.
We then both noticed that we were gaining on these lights. As we got closer, we could make out about 15 to 20 lights. Our speed was 75 mph at that time.
When we got to the top of the incline we were traveling on, we at first lost sight of the lights. We then noticed the lights on the left side of the highway. It had crossed the highway.
We could see it in a valley across from us, and we slowed to its speed, about 67-68 mph. It was about 500 to 1000 feet off the ground. At one point I could see under it and it had the outline roughly of a triangle with the courners rounded.
It lit the sky above it, and it was dark grey beneath. It was at that point about less than a mile from us. I guessed it size to be about 200 to 300 feet across the back of it and about 150 to 200 feet from front to back.
It was about 30 to 50 feet thick. The lights on top were all of the same color, about that of a mecury vapor lamp. We also noticed ,after the fact, that there are many farm houses and dairies in this area that this object was over during the time it was on the left of the highway.
None of those lights were on as it passed over that area. It finally passed behind a mountain range. As it did, it lit up the profile of one of the montains.
It was traveling south towards Nevada. My wife saw the same object, in the same place, at the same time, 2 weeks laiter to the day.
