Wyoming UFO Sightings in 2003

A huge fireball east of Cheyenne Wyoming My friend and I were outside looking at the stars hopeing to see a ufo or something. We were facing northeast to watch the sky, but when I turned my head to fix the telescope, a HUGE fireball was streaking through the sky east of us. I just got the sight for about 5 seconds or so.

My friend didn't see anything because he was right next to the wall. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate. PD)).

30 second sighting. Tumbling, silver-grey cylinder. 30 degrees off horizon.

Eight miles distant. Steady course & speed Note: This is the same report that I sent to another UFO reporting service in July, 2015, but this is an update of sorts. The reason I'm sending it to you, is because I've remembered some other details about the sighting.

Specifically, the date and distance from the object. It was either October 2003, (I think this was it), or October 2004. Also, the object was between me and `Little Prospect Mountain,' so it was not more than eight miles away.

This experience disturbed me greatly and has stayed with me. So much so that I've tried to learn the proper way to investigate a sighting and to study any physical evidence that might be found. Also, after hearing on a television show how some people, when they've had a spectacular sighting like mine, (the Phoenix lights), simply got in their car and drove on and didn't discuss it among themselves.

They described it as a temporary amnesia. There are other examples. I think that may have happened to me, as well, as I waited until 2015 to even start thinking seriously about what I saw before finally reporting it.

Here is my report: This was late October, hunting season. It was dusk. The sun was low on the western horizon.

I was staying in my camper in the trees. After dinner, I took a cup of coffee and walked out to the main dirt road, about one hundred (100), yards away, out of the trees. This is a fairly isolated place in the Wind River Mountains, about thirty (30) miles northwest of South Pass, Wyoming.

There are high, granite peaks to the north that stretch all the way up to Yellowstone. Farson, the closest hamlet, is about sixty (60) miles to the west-southwest. It was a cloudless evening; a very beautiful sunset.

A movement in the sky caught my attention and I looked up and saw a cylinder tumbling across the sky, end-over-end. It was gray to dull silver in base color but shown gold-red as it reflected the sunlight. It had a ratio of about eight-to-one (8 to 1), diameter to length and seemed to have a raised rim of some kind on one end, about a sixth of the way along its axis.

At first, my mind could not grasp what I was seeing and I thought, `Well, it must be a booster stage from a rocket.' (The following was not in my original report): I didn't get excited. I should have.

This is not normal. Only later did I recognize that if it were a booster rocket, it would have crashed into the ground and from its apparent size, it would have been at least five hundred (500) feet in length. To my knowledge, no one has ever built a booster rocket of that size.

I observed it moving from the south-southeast to the north-northwest. It never deviated its course. I never altered its altitude.

It simply tumbled end-over-end as it moved across a blue, evening sky. Then it disappeared over the mountains. I made no notes of my sighting that evening but rather went to bed early as I planned on hunting the next morning.

The strange thing was, that night, I had a nightmare that terrified me. I do not use the word `terrify' lightly. I never have nightmares but this one scared me as I have never been scared before, or since.

In it, something came over my camp and hovered. In the dream, I knew `they', (whoever `they are'), were coming. and I thought, `now wait.

They can't do that! There are more people in the campground a half a mile away. They'll be seen.' But never-the-less, they stopped over my camper and shined an ultra bright light down on it, bathing the whole area around my camper for fifty (50) feet.

Then two entities appeared outside my door. They were dressed in tight fitting suits, like the old usher uniforms that people use to wear in movie theaters and they had on rimless caps of a dark gray color. I couldn't keep them out.

and that's all I remember. A few days later I made some notes on this dream and my observation. I haven't been able to find those notes so a few years ago, I wrote out what I remembered, one more time.

I have never had a dream like that again. I have never had another sighting of any kind. The following was not in my original report: It befuddles me that I was so unmoved by this episode.

Now, I'm not even sure that I made those notes, `a few days later.' This isn't normal and it's bugging the hell out of me! I'm a reasonably intelligent person, (I think). I ran a college level welding program for twenty-two (22) years and currently work as a Certified Welding Inspector, (when I choose to), so I'm bewildered by my behavior in the aftermath of this sighting.

Clark, WY. object or Light heading S.W.

at 20:51 hours I took my dog out at 20:51 hours saw what looked like a satlelite but was moving to slow. I had a 600,000 candle like spot light so I flashed my light at it just fooling around and about a minute later it came to a dead stop. This scared and freaked me out so I came in and locked the doors Why I don't know, but I emailed norad and they actualy replied I still have there reply if you want me to forward it to you.

They said they did not track anything unusual.

Saw a 6" red ball flying from south to north about 3' off the ground on US 20 in Yellowstone National Park on September 29, 2003. I was driving west on US 20 approximately 10 miles east of the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. My wife was in the front passenger seat.

The time was 20:35 (8:35 PM Mountain time) on Friday night September 29, 2003. The sun had already set, so it was quite dark. This is a wilderness area that we were in, no lights what so ever for miles.

No other vehicles were in the area. The skies were clear. One could practically reach up and touch the stars.

The landscape on each side of the two lane road had new pine tree growth with a height of 4 to 10 feet. We were traveling about 30MPH with the windows rolled down so we could hear the elk bugling in the not so far distance. Suddenly and without warning, approximately 3 feet off the ground and 30 feet in front of us, a red sphere darted across the road from left to right (south to north).

The color was that of a lit tail light lens, but not bright as if brakes were applied. This completely circular object, about 6" in diameter, flew straight for the short duration that we saw it. Sighting was lost as it entered the trees.

This was not a flash of light bouncing off an object and again, no other vehicles were within sight. Nothing was said to each other until I stopped at a pull-off a couple of miles down the road. We then looked at each other and I asked my wife, "Did you see that back there?" Her reply was, "I wasn't going to say anything until you did.

What was that red ball?" We compared notes. We indeed did see a 6" red ball flying from left to right about 3' off the ground. No sound was noted.

Odd craft seen in the sky in Wyoming A friend and I were returning from Steamboat, CO and our path took us through Wyoming as a shortcut. While traveling through the Snowy Range area, we witnessed an object in the sky that was unlike anything that I have ever seen. It looked like an inverted teardrop or ice cream cone shape.

The sky was clear with no clouds on the background. The color of the object was crystalline with definite structure lines that seemed to be silver. It was close enough to tell that it was not a weather balloon or something like that.

It was clearly rigid with a defined structure and did not waver back and forth like a balloon would. The object seemed to float steadily and then descended to the ground after several seconds but did not descend all the way to the surface. Rather, it seemed to lower itself below the tree line so that we could not view it anymore.

My friend and I were utterly mystified at to what this object was yet we did not feel threatened at any time. I am under the impression that this could be some sort of military application but the shape seemed so inconsistent with anything that humans build. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate.

One very bright light for 8 seconds above the horizon then 2 smaller lights that moved very close to us and we saw 4 seperate times A friend and I were camping 25mi east of Grand Teton in Teton National Forest. We had gone outside of the tent and sat down to stare at the stars and the mountain, it was approximately 23:30. Then all of a sudden we saw a very bright light that started out small and just got bigger, the light lasted for about 8 seconds.

It was above the horizon and was due west from where we were camping. It was so bright that my friend saw it because it was reflecting off of my face. The thing about the light was that it was a very clean, white almost clear light, and was amazingly bright.

Since the moon had not risen yet it was very dark, this light illuminated the ground and lasted for 8 seconds. Right before the light vanished it moved up slightly and disappeared. About 10 minutes after that we saw two more lights that were under the horizon also due west of our position, they looked to be a little ways out from the base of the Tetons.

They were small but bright and were moving rapidly from south to north. Then all of a sudden the lights started to move towards us from west to east, they were moving very rapidly then disappeared. About 2 minutes later we saw them again moving south to north, then again they turned and came straight at us again.

By this time the lights had made it to the base of the hill that we were staying on. The lights vanished again for another 2 minutes then reappeared. They were hovering and moving in a figure 8 type movement, just back and forth behind the trees.

They vanished again for another 2 minutes and then reapeared. Altogether we saw these two smaller lights 4 times. It was very strange and somewhat scarry.

When they got closer our skin was crawling, it was like we could feel the presence of another being. After the 4th time we saw these lights I just couldn't take it anymore and got inside the tent, I was to scarred to stay outside. Just for your information there was an Indian gathering down the hill from us, it was a big pow wow that this tribe p! uts on every year.

the Indians were camping to the south of us about .5 miles away. We do have 3 other witnesses for the first big bright light, but no other witnesses other than my friend and I on the two smaller lights.

If you need any more information or need me to be more specific in any way please let me know. ((NUFORC Note: We spoke with this witness at length, and we found him to be quite logical about his sighting, and very credible. The first light the witness observed was not the ISS or the flare from an Iridium satellite.

The latter would not illuminate the ground noticably, and it would not illuminate the face of the witness, such that another person could detect the illumination on the observer's face, as apparently happened in this case. The lights seen later could not have been satellites, if they were below the observer's (effective) horizon. In addition, aircraft generally are not allowed to fly over national parks.

The object was a dim point of light that grew to a brightness of twice what Venus would be and then disappeared & lasted ~ 15 seconds. I went outside to enjoy the night sky. It's 70 F degrees, clear skies with a few thin clouds.

To the western sky is a very bright star low in the horizon. It's about 15 degrees or so. Worland is located approximately 44 degrees North Latitude and 108 degrees West Longitude.

I'm 5 miles north on Wyo. Hwy. 433: West River Road.

The bright star is due west. About 1/2 degree above and perhaps 3 degrees south of this star, I saw a small point of light moving from South to North. I assumed it was a satellite until it grew in brightness.

I thought it might be a plane except there were no flashing lights and only the one point of light. It grew in brightness to twice that of the star which is about as bright as Venus would be. I thought it might be a plane turning towards me however it continued in a straight line to the north.

At about the 2/3 point of it's arch which covered about the span of one hand at arms length, it reached its maximum brightness and then faded back to a dim point of light before disapearing. The event lasted about 15 seconds. As for my background, I'm retired Air Force and flew in B-52G's.

I'm also a private pilot (licensed in the early '70's). This was not a plane. It was also not a meteor.

The duration and relative slow speed of the sighting was without any "tail" of any kind. It was simply a dim spot of light that suddenly grew in intensity and then deminished. If you have questions, please contact me.

Delta shaped object in Jackson Hole I was sitting in the parking lot of the Jackson Hole ski area and watching some large birds in the sky. At this point, I noticed another object flying around. At first I thought it was a plane that was far off in the distance but then it dipped below the ridge in the distance and I realized that it was not that far away.

I was a clear delta or Chevron shape that was a deep black in color. It was extremely small in size, perhaps no larger than a small car. I watched this object buzz across the valley and then make a turn back around and head back over the valley.

It circled again and then took off at a tremendous rate of speed, much faster than any other object that I have ever witnessed. At this point, I realized that I had seen something that is quite unusual. Part of me believes that this object could be some sort of drone that is used for the security of our VP Dick Chaney who has a house in the area.

The only thing that would make me waver from this conclusion is the rate of speed of the object. It literally went from one end of the valley to the other in less than a second, much much faster than any other planes that I watched earlier in the week. It was like an airport becon that was rotating with red, green, and white lights. My wife and I observed what we first thought was a bright star or planet in the north western sky. It was like an airport becan that was rotating with red, green, and white lights.

When the red and green lights were visible there was a white light that appeared to be under the object. When rotating to white, the object became brighter. It seemed to be stationary for a period appx 45 minutes and then began to move in a northern direction.

We observed this object for quite some time as it moved away. It then dissapeared.
