Bright orange lights fading in and out in a perfect diagonal pattern over Barre Driving on the south end of Allen st we saw a two bright orange lights toward the north east that didnt look like it was much more than 100 feet high. The two lights where in a diagonal pattern. The Bottom light would fade out and a new light would appear in a perfect diagonal pattern at the top.
The the original top bright orange light would become the bottom and it too would fade out and a new one would appear in line above the one light left. It gave the appearance that the lights where "walking" but never actually going anywhere.

2 golden yellow orbs in northeastern VT above road Saw two UFOs last night at about 6:30 PM EST as I arrived home from work. When I pulled around the corner by my house in the rural village where I live, I saw two large, bright golden orbs above the road just south of my house. They were stationary, parallel to each other, and fairly close to each other at a height of, by my estimate, of about 150 or so feet above the road.
They were also moving in an erratic manner side-by-side to each other, sort of leapfrogging over one another. One would quickly leapfrog over the other to a parallel position next to the one just jumped. Then the one just jumped would perform the same maneuver over the first one in the same direction.
This occurred maybe two to three times then they reversed the process in the opposite direction. Once, the lights seemed to flick off to black but shortly came back on. When the maneuvers seemed to have ended and they both went black, I parked my car and got out in the dark, but seeing nothing in the sky went into my house.
Within about twenty minutes of my sighting, I received a phone call from a friend in my town who lives about 2 miles from me saying that in the company of their son they had observed a similar display on their way home from a different direction to town. They stopped, got out of their car, and went to a field above their home to further observe a similar performance to mine above their field. The activity I saw occurred maybe two to three times in a matter of a few minutes from the time I stopped in the road to observe them.
I was stopped in the travel lane of the road while seeing this activity. Three or four cars passed me in the road during this time. Though no one else stopped, I can’t believe no one else saw this because of the size of the orbs, their proximity directly above the dark road, and their erratic behavior.
Very odd. Apparently many UFO sightings were observed and reported locally at this time, but the media has attributed them to the Leonid Meteor showers that are occurring. This is not what I observed.
I have watched the sky most of my life. I have seen the comets Hale-Bopp and Halley’s, meteors and their showers, and satellites. These definitely are NOT what I saw.
I have seen many anomalies in both the night and day skies here since the mid- to late-1990s. I am a financial professional.

Very strange circular craft clearly seen at close range by two people. My girlfriend and I went on a date on Friday, November 13, 2009. Directly after dinner, we drove to a rural but not uninhabited area to look at the stars.
The night was cold, so the sky was very clear. We parked on the side of Hunt Road, a dirt road in New Haven, Vermont , sometime between 8:00 and 9:00pm. There are houses and farms along this road, but we selected a spot where the road crests a hill, bends, and runs through a couple of wooded areas.
This helped to block any lights from nearby houses. Hunt Road runs parallel to and one-half mile east of Route 7, a relatively busy 2-lane state highway and the main north-south road on the western side of the state. With houses around, and a busy road less than a mile away, we were secluded but certainly not in the middle of nowhere.
We sat on the hood of my 2000 Chevy Malibu and looked at the stars for maybe 45 minutes to an hour. We saw several shooting stars during that time. We got cold, so we decided to go home.
We got into the car, and we were talking about shooting stars. I turned on the vehicle. Just as I finished putting on my seatbelt, I saw something off to the left in my periphery.
When I looked, I saw an object above the trees at about 9-o’clock, directly out the driver-side door window. I would estimate the altitude of the object at around 200 feet, and it was at a distance of about a quarter mile. I immediately realized that it was very strange, and that I had no idea what it was.
A part of me may have already thought that it looked like the descriptions people give of alien craft. Almost as soon as I saw it I said, “What’s that?” My girlfriend had already seen it, as well, and she said, “I don’t know.” As I said, when I first saw the thing the thought immediately popped into my mind that it looked something like a stereotypical “UFO” with a few peculiarities.
I then had the realization that of course alien craft do not exist, or at the very least that it was very unlikely that I was staring at one, so I began to try to figure out what it could be. An airplane? A balloon? A reflection? A remote-controlled toy? All of these things were easily ruled out almost as soon as they came up, leaving me staring at the object as it passed from the driver-side window to the windshield. My girlfriend and I were hurriedly discussing what this thing could be, but we kept coming back to ‘What the heck is that? Look how it moves.
’ I don’t remember if either of us said that it looked like an alien craft, but I know that we were both thinking it. The thing passed in front of the car, and it became clear that it was going to go behind some trees. The leaves were down and it was just a row of trees, so it would still be possible to see the light moving behind the branches, but we would no longer have an unobstructed view.
By this point the objects flight-path brought it closer, and it may have been one eighth of a mile away. My girlfriend said, “Follow it!” I said, “Are you crazy!” It moved directly in front of the car, and I reached down and flashed my headlights at it four or five times. My girlfriend said something like, “What are you doing?” in a way that implied that I was bringing danger upon us.
It began to move behind the branches just as I was finishing the last flick of my headlights, and then it abruptly disappeared. It should have been visible through the branches. I stepped on the gas and sped past the row of trees, and behind it was an open field.
The craft should have been right there, floating over th! e center of the field heading toward the mountains, but it was gone. There was not even a light in the distance. We sat there scanning the area and the sky, which we had an excellent view of as we were on a hill.
The thing had completely disappeared. The object itself was shaped somewhat like a circular ibuprofen tablet. It had flat sides and a slightly curved top and bottom.
The top was a very slightly tighter arc, and so protruded a little more than the bottom. I believe the object was 40 feet in diameter. Against the sky, the color of the object was a dark gray.
I could see its outline very clearly. I saw no evidence that in light the object would have been shiny, but I suppose that is possible. I saw three rectangular lights on the flat sides that seemed to me to be windows.
The lighted areas were completely opaque, and I could not see into the object at all. The lights were all the same color, a very vibrant and yet very soft yellow. The object did not spin around, but as it was moving diagonally to us I did see the light nearest the rear of the thing move more in front, and the light nearest the front moved around behind it somewhat due to our changing angle of view.
The strangest aspect of it, and the thing that for me rules out almost everything except for alien craft was the way that it moved. I cannot describe it to you accurately. It moved forward and up in one motion (in ratio about 2 or 3 parts forward, one part up), and it did this in irregular “spurts”.
The spurt would be a sudden motion…no acceleration at all, it was just suddenly moving forward and up. The spurts were very short, sometimes there were three of them in one second, other times there might be 2 seconds between them. These are maximum ranges, as there was no discernible pattern or rhythm to the timing or length of the spurts.
In between these pulses of speed, the object coasted (forward and slightly down). Again, with no deceleration period…the object was just suddenly moving slower. It sounds as though that would look jerky, but there was an odd fluidity to it.
Put these together, and it did not move very quickly. It did not coast as an airplane does. It lost al! titude slightly when coasting, but there was definitely something of a hovering characteristic to it.
Its general speed was not constant. The moment that there were three spurts in one second, the thing lurched forward maybe 100 feet, but it did this in a very quick, yet intermittent fashion that is impossible to explain. It was very, very unique.
It made no noise at all. After it disappeared and we were then unable to locate it where it should have been, my girlfriend and I agreed not to talk about it on the drive home. The time was suddenly 11:00pm.
I don’t want to say that we were missing an hour or two of time because I have misjudged time in the past, but we both wondered how it had become so late. I do not believe I was abducted. The plan was to get home, each make a drawing of what we thought we saw separately, and then compare.
Our drawings were identical in every way but one. I was under the impression that if we had seen it from above, it would have been a perfect circle, while she was under the impression that it would have been oblong. The drawing of the object that I have included is the drawing I made that night, about an hour after I saw it.
The map I drew is very accurate and to scale. Later, we researched UFO’s a bit to try to make sense of it. What we saw certainly fits in with other UFO sightings, though I have not seen a UFO photo anywhere that fits perfectly with what I saw.

It was about 1:04 in the morning. I was getting home from the late shift, and near the northern sky, I thought I saw a plane with very bright lights. But as I looked closer at the object, I saw a somewhat circular shape of lights going in a circular motion, with a red, orange, and white pattern change.
It was at about 3,000 ft in the sky, and by the time I had got home, I looked into the same direction into the sky, and it had disappeared. It was a weird sighting. ((NUFORC Note: Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information.

Two star-like objects move across night sky, then disappear in an instant. On the night of my last camping trip to the northern wilderness of Vermont, the night sky was crystal clear. As I was used to doing, I pulled my chair up to the campfire, sipped a coffee, listened to the CBC on the radio, and enjoyed the glory of the heavens.
Before climbing into my tent, I hit the "head", which was a patch of bushes at the back of the site. I paused to take one last look into the clear, starry night. As I slowly scanned to the left of my field of view, I noticed what appeared at first to be a star, but soon realized that it was moving.
It was a small, bright white light. It was no larger than an average star. There was no sound, and no other lights.
Moved in a steady, unwavering path. It appeared to be quite a distance, perhaps orbital distance, but that's just a guess. I would say that its speed was twice that of a commercial airliner at that altitude.
I thought, "Hey, I think that must be a satellite", but it was now 2:00 AM, and satellites are not visible at that hour in my region. I followed it, with my eyes trained on it, as it moved from far left, until it reached the center of the sky, directly overhead. Suddenly, it was gone! I kept looking, further to the right, trying to pick it up again.
No, it was gone. After desperately trying to relocate it, I looked back to my left again. Again, I spotted a bright white light, larger than the first, and traveling the exact same path.
It was the same as above, but larger, about thrice the size. I followed it as well. When this second one reached the same, exact spot as the first one, it too disappeared from view! I was shocked! It was right there, and in an instant, gone.
Again, it was a crystal clear night. There were no clouds. There was no sound.
Early that night, and on other nights, I had watched jets cross the night sky, only to disappear beyond the horizon. These two craft, simply disappeared. Needless to say, I didn't sleep too well that night.
I am still wondering just what it was that I saw that night. Note: I only just learned of this Web-site, which is the reason for the delay in reporting.

Cone of light emanating downward from stationary point in the sky. At approximately 20:00 on Saturday, September 19, 2009, we (two of us) were at our driveway gate in Orwell, Vermont. We were opening the gate to drive in and another family member was bringing horses in when something in the southern sky -- probably at a 45-degree angle up from the horizon (very non-technical guesstimate) -- caught our attention.
From what appeared to be a stationary point (possibly like a small star) that was the apex, a cone of white light emanated downward. It continued to radiate downward for approximately 10 seconds, remained there for maybe another 5-10 seconds, and then began to dissipate slowly. One of our party thought it dissipated first from the center of the cone.
The other two didn’t notice that but rather saw the entire triangle dissipate slowly. The entire even probably took 30 seconds. ((NUFORC Note: Missile launch.

cone of light in sky at height of air traffic Driving westward towards Lake Champlain from Cornwall to Shoreham at 7:52 pm, I saw a cone of light in the sky approximately at the same level I had just seen an airplane. It was very bright at the top and then was a bit more hazy towards the bottom. It lasted less than 30 seconds, as I came around a bend in the road, it was gone.
The bottom of the cone was hazy and sort of "melted" into the sky. The object that the light was coming from was not moving, seemed stationary. It was like an enormous lampshade in appearance.

At about 10:30pm my wife and I saw an object in the sky NNW approximately 25 degrees off the horizon. The object appeared to be a bright star but was blinking with distinct alternating/vibrating colors: red, green, blue, yellow, white. The object appeared to be stationary.
I had a pair of binoculars --not sure what the magnification is, with which we both looked at the object, and it was indeed blinking those colors. This 'star' also appeared to change shape while watching through the binoculars, but maybe that was my imagination. There were other stars near this object from our vantage point that were not behaving in a similar fashion.
I thought maybe it was a twinkling star. What do you think?.

Alright, me and my friend were driving down the road, and i saw it in the sky, at first I didnt think any of it because we live sorta near an air port so i thought it was just another plane, but the thing didn't move. it jsut stayed still. so we both were like "what the hell is that" it was triangluar shaped and looked like it had a set of lights on top and on bottom.
I told my friend to turn around because he was driving, and we went back to where we saw it and it was gone. We searched the sky for about 5 minutes and we didnt see it. I don't know if this is connected, but i live near where we saw it and i keep hearing what sounds like gun shots in the woods behind my house, this is unusal since it is 1130 at night right now.

Saw a bunch of lights bunched together, they were all different colors and blinking. I was sitting in my living room with my husband, who is a chef. We were drinking wine and talking when I suddenly got an urge to look out side.
I looked into southern sky and low and behold there was something there. It was like a mass of lights all bunched together. I couldn't tell the shape of the craft, and the lights were all different colors and blinking.
I looked, couldn't figure out what it was, and sat back down. Then I got up a couple minutes later and looked again and it was still just sitting there. I didn't tell any one except my dad, my husband hates talking about that stuff.
I would say that it was above the tree line a lot, but I can't tell how high that is.

A formation of lights breaking the sound barrier and doing odd manuevers. I was awaken by a loud rumble. I assumed a plane may be in distress.
I immediately looked outside and saw what appeared to be the lights of a low flying commercial airliner flying directly toward the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant, less than 1 mile from our house. Then, it split into three separate lights, all of red, doing manuevers that airplanes aren't capable of. They all appeared to be breaking the sound barrier.
They continued, after doing manuevers, to travel east toward Hinsdale, NH. Within minutes, there where several airplanes flying that same direction. I, as a volunteer firefighter, turned on my radio and listened for an extensive period and never heard any reports of any crashes in our area.

Bright Orange/Reddish Object moving slowly over Lake Champlain I went outside and overheard my neighbor telling someone on the phone that she was looking at a UFO. I looked up and saw it out over Lake Champlain. It was very bright, orange/reddish (the color of a flame), a little bigger than a star, and was moving slowly.
First it went north, and then it turned south. It was at about a 40 degree angle from my viewpoint. It appeared to "flicker" and also fluctuated in intensity (sometimes dimmer and sometimes brighter).
I called my friend who lives about a mile or so away, and she went outside and could see it as well. It did not have blinking lights or white "headlight" type lights and thus did not resemble a plane (in fact, there was a plane near it in the sky for comparison, but it was impossible to tell how far away the plane or the object were from myself and/or from each other). Eventually the object moved south and I could no longer see it because the trees in the yard were blocking my view.

First 2, then 3 bright lights in the sky; lights eventually disappeared My friend and I were heading home from Colchester to Barre after a night at the drive in. We were on Interstate 89 heading south just past Exit 14 when I first noticed two bright lights in the sky. I've sat on the tarmack at O'Hare airport enough to know what planes look like when they're "stacked up" waiting to land at night and have their "landing lights" on.
That's what I thought I was seeing. After driving a few miles I could see a plane that was flying very low, coming in for a landing. This was on the left side of the Interstate near the Williston exit, #12.
Looking to the right I then saw the lights, which I again thought were planes in line to land.but now there were three of the bright lights. The two on the left were closer together than the one that was farthest to the right.
As we drove a bit further down the road either trees or hills blocked the view of that part of the sky. I commented to my friend that it seemed very odd that Burlington airport would have 3 planes waiting to land.ever, let alone at that time of night.
He said he thought the lights were too close together to have been planes. A mile or two down the road, the Interstate curves to the right as it goes down a hill.about 2 miles before the Richmond exit.
I figured that we would have a good view of the "same" sky when we got there and then we'd have another chance to look at the lights. However, we never saw the lights again. The night sky was very dark, no moon.
and no clouds. I believe that, if the lights had been planes, we would have seen them again as they came in to land. But we never saw or heard a plane landing (after the one we saw landing as we drove past the Williston exit.
) The lights appeared to be a almost an orange color, but a very yellow-white orange. Size-wise, the lights appeared bigger than any star or planet I've ever seen in the sky. I can't say that I saw the lights moving at all, except for seeing 3 lights after earlier having seen 2.
I am reminded of looking a! t Jupite r with the naked eye.but about 4 times larger in apparent size and a corresponding increase in brightness. The more I replay it in my mind the more I am reminded of how the planes looked at O'Hare airport at night while they are in line waiting to land.
(They also don't appear to move when still far away in the sky because they are, in essence, heading directly at you.) It was the strangest thing I've seen in the sky in a long, long time.

Light formation streaks across Vermont sky I was out looking for meteors during the Lyrids Meteor shower last night at approximately 1:02 am. There were no clouds in any line of vision. I was on a dark spot on the University of Vermont Campus when suddenly a formation of lights streaked across the sky.
Each individual object looked identical to a faded star and but there were four all together that moved in a somewhat V-Formation. 3 moved in a straight line while one moved to the back left of the leading object, creating the V-shape perception. The lights remained constant, created no sound nor trail, held a constant shape and the lights were spaced out similar to the stars in O'Ryan's belt.
The cluster of objects came into my vision about 40 degrees west(relative to the horizon) of the big dipper. It then moved liked a shooting star but but was visible for about 4-5 seconds before it vanished in the southwest sky. I had never seen anything like this before and had been a total skeptic before.
I would love to know if there were any other witnesses or someone who could explain to me what this might have been.
