Saw stationary object in the sky potentially over Groton, Ct (navel base) Looked like the size of a star during the night but during the day, but not a light. Roundish or oblong in shape. In 40 years never saw anything like it.
It did not move at all while watching it. looked again a few hours later and it was gone. Potentially over naval base in Groton.

Bright light never seen before in sky moving in a side to side direction but not great distance only small amounts Checked on flightaware and no registered craft nearby. There was a single object and it is an extremely bright golden light color. It seems to be moving but only slightly in a circular or side to side pattern.
Cameras when zoomed in do not show the light only a dark circular or oblong shape. When the camera is at 1x zoom the picture shows the brightness but zooming in makes it hard to define shape. There were no sounds able to be heard and the object didn't seem to be very high up compared to a commercial plane.
I was able to take a few pictures and each picture was maybe a few seconds or a minute apart yet the shape and aura look different in each one. I initially saw this object at 1:10am and it is now 1:41am and it is still there. I had my 2 sons come outside to verify what I was seeing and they are older so I respected of they would tell me I was seeming unstable but they saw exactly what I did and agreed that it was extremely out of the ordinary.

I was traveling on I-95 north through CT. To my right, out above the water, I saw a row of 5 hook-shaped contrails appearing from nowhere. I watched for a couple of minutes as they traveled by me.
I then thought to grab some pictures with my iPhone 7. These contrails appeared to be about a 1/4 mile across. The row of 5 appeared exactly at the same time.
The would stop, or skip, periodically in no apparent pattern. They would then suddenly begin again. They ended up moving away from to where I could no longer see them appear.
I have seen airline contrails in the past. Even the highest planes were still visible. The contrails were always one continuous line of vapor.
These today seemed to pulse. All 5 across appearing from nowhere. You can reach me at ((e-address deleted)) or 484-((telephone number deleted)).
I have video and photos. ((NUFORC Note: The high-quality photos provided by the witness indicate to us that the contrails probably were formed by five "sky writing" aircraft, flying abreast. Not a UFO.

Small shiny object seen in sky while driving on clear day, looked back for a 3rd time and it was gone. Today on 10/10/11 at aprox. 3:00pm EST, I saw to what I believed was a small circular or disk shaped object hovering in the sky.
I was traveling alone on I-95 southbound near exit 88 when I saw it. It was a completely cloudless sky and I was traveling at 70mph. I looked up to see a small shiny object, about 2000 to 3000 ft in the air and was probably the size of a school bus or perhaps even a small plane.
I was looking out my front windshield and off a bit to the right, which would have put the object to my northeast. It caught my attention due to the fact it was extremely shiny. more shiny than anything I had ever seen on a plane flying across the sky.
I looked back a second time after I had glanced down at the road while driving to see if it was still there. It had not moved at all, which I thought was odd if it were a bird, plane or even maybe balloon. I looked back down at the road again to drive, and looking up again a 3rd time, the object was no longer! in sight.
I thought if it was a balloon, it would be moving slowly enough where even at my speed, given the altitude of the object it should still have been visible. I did not think it was a commercial plane due to the fact I did not notice any landing gear, windows, engines, fuselage or wings. I can't say for certain that it was not a reflection of some sort, but I thought it worthy enough to report it.
No other witnesses were present. ((NUFORC Note: We spoke via telephone with this witness, and he seemed to us to be a sincere, and sober-minded, individual. We suspect that he is a very good witness.

Unreported UFO sighting in CT. Only discussed by locals.Possibly not reported anywhere.
Fishermen along the Thames River in Groton,CT saw a triangular ship pass overhead silently. Two other witnesses in another part of town proclaim to have seen the same craft w/o knowledge of other sighting. On Old Buddington Road two young adult males (as told to me by one of the same) were outside when an app.
300Yd triangular craft slowly and silently passed overhead at a hgt. of 1000ft. Witness said oddly silent but felt an odd vibration throughout his body as it passed directly overhead.
He also described it as seemingly like a helicopter until it got closer. It had a light at each corner and a large round light in the center which beamed to the ground. This is all Ive heard.
((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate. PD)).

Red, orange and sometimes blue lights zipping around in the sky, vertical, horizontal, sometimes swinging - seem to follow each other. We are seeing strange lights in the sky that seemingly come closer, then move further away. There are three lights.
One red, one orange and one blue. They moved strangly, up and down, sideways and swinging back and forth at times. They are zipping accross the sky, sometimes disappearing and then they come back.
Now, there are four! I don't know what to make of it. They don't behave like aircraft and they move so quickly that I can't imagine that they are satalites. Just odd, so I thought I'd report it.
It was first noticed by my 14 year old daughter, and she called me to look. I saw it too, as did my 17 year old daughter. I really don't want to end up on the news, so I'm not comfortable leaving my name or contact info.
Our home is on the right side of the street from the intersection of Gold Star Hwy. and Great Brook Road, and we were looking at the sky from our front windows - towards the base. ((NUFORC Note: Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information.
Possible sighting of Sirius, we suspect. PD)).

Bright light, too low to be a satellite, hovers 10 mins. then abruptly disappears. watched with binocs.
June first, 2010. Groton Long Point, CT. I was sitting on the porch of my parent’s home directly on the shore of Fisher’s Island Sound, unable to sleep (for personal reasons).
It was a perfectly peaceful, clear, quiet night (a.m.) I noticed a bright light hovering over the waters of what looked to be just outside of Stonington harbor (could have been more like Watch Hill, hard to tell).
At first, I thought it must be a heli, but there was no sound, and it did not move for ten minutes. I have seen the satellites way up in space, this was at heli level. Obviously, it was not a plane, because it wasn’t moving.
I was curious enough after 5 minutes of hovering to get the binocs out. I watched through them for the next 5 minutes, then it seemed to spin (I saw a second light) and then quickly disappear towards Rhode Island, I watched it through the binocs till I couldn’t see it anymore (probably took about 30 secs. For it to disappear.
) I was so blown away, and bummed that I was the only one in the household that actually saw it. Surprised there aren’t any other reports of that sighting, though it was rather late (or early). Please let me know if anyone else saw this! I know what I saw.

Circle of lights which then spun around and dissapeared. Groton, CT 06340 7:23 P.M.
Saw a semi circle of bright lights hovering in the distance. Vantage point was standing on our back porch looking towards Long Island Sound with no city or residences between us and the ocean. The object hovered for 3 minutes.
It then appeared to come closer to the house. Then it spun around or did some sort of acrobatics and disappeared. After this we waited for an hour and it didn’t come back.

On the night in question the skies were clear, also two of the wittnesses had an experiences in the past with a UFO. High in the atmosphere a glowing diamond shaped object appeared over the Northern sky in Groton, CT. around the time and date noted.
The object also seemed to have an illuminating red ball that lit up every five minutes or so lasting for a few seconds. The event was witnessed first by one member, than another and finally one more who took a more closer look at the object through a telescope. His findings were that the object had to be a star that was close? Upon trying to find the object minutes later in a sky that had too much clearance for anything to have had disappeared that quick, and knowing it could not have been a satellite, or airplane, the only conclusion is that it was something flying that was unidentified.
UFO?.

Green light travelling at extreme speed over Groton, CT I was driving east on I-95 by Waterford/New London, CT. In front of me I saw a bright green light in the sky, as it appeared, hoovering over Groton, CT on the far side of the Thames river, north of I-95, a couple of miles ahead of us. The light wasn't very high from the ground, as it appeared not too far from the tree line sillouette.
The light was bigger than I could associate with any aircraft, so I told my wife to watch it too. As I told her this, the green light started to move, as it appeared, in an eastern direction, parallell to I-95. Suddenly the the light seemed to accelerate to extreme speed as it quickly vanished towards the east.
This is when I realized I have witnessed something extraordinary. My wife failed to notice the object, so I was left with my own experience, which lasted no more than a couple of seconds.

Two whitish blue teardrop shapes came off the edge of the sky, stopped and took off in the opposite direction leaving a streak behind. Two teardrod like shapes came out of the edge of the sky, they where like slow moving stars or comets or something, whitish blue. The lights in my house began to dim in and out for a short time then they both stopped dead, stood for a second, emitting a small glow, and took off in a hard angle in the opposite direction, faster than i could see leaving a streak of light blue light.

Unknown object appeared in photograph, was not noticed at the time photo was taken,Curious? Resending.I do not know the exact date this happened, it was a sunday in April, I am not sure of the year but I did include coinciding events. The reason I put question marks in the initial entries above is basically the event occurred 'after the fact'.
This event occurred around the time of the last comet event, I think it was Hale-Bopp, as another reference, it was around the same time as the mass Killing at the weirdo cult place where they all mutilated themselves. I was taking a photo of a new antenna that had just been installed around 1 to 2 o'clock in the afternoon. After the developement of the film is when the object was noticed.
The conditions that day were partly cloudy and breezy with moderate temperatures.I had set up my tripod to take the photo and had aimed the camera at the antenna. I did not look up at the time I took the picture.
I still have the negative. The object does appear on the photo in the second photo as a shadowy image against a blue sky. I am sending a scanned copy of the 2 photos that I did take just seconds apart, the difference in the clouds locations when compaired should verify that.
If you would like actual prints, you could probably verify the time the photos were developed by the numbers on back of the actual copies. The film used was a 35 mm. These were developed thruogh a Wal-Mart located in Groton, Ct.
((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate. Sundays of April 1996 fell on April 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th, I believe. PD)).

Immense triangular craft moving 20mph over Groton, CT, and Montauk, LI, NY, at least 1 mi wide. I was participating on a research project for the U.S.
Coast Guard Research & Development Center. They were testing various types of IR and LASER detection systems for nighttime use, which comprised large professional tripod-mounted cameras and long tele lenses. The equipment was located in a shelter built on top of the tallest building on the university campus, a 4-story brick building.
My role was to act as target. I was in a 25-ft fiberglass sloop with outboard engine. I was given a series of waypoints which I spent approx 10-15 min at each point, long enough for changes in engine heat signatures to be observed.
There were about 10 waypoints located 1 mi apart beginning about 2 miles from shore, going directly south across Long Island Sound toward Montauk. At 10 miles I was located approx halfway between Montauk and Groton/New London. It was after midnight, possibly 2AM.
It was warm (about 70 deg), and a cloudless starry night. Only the tallest! brightest lights from Groton could be seen, no lights were visible from Long Island. I observed a distinct 'lack of stars' overhead.
I then noticed several lights along the edges of what appeared as a huge triangle. The lights were red, green and blue but did not conform to typical navigation lights of aircraft. I have extensive military and aviation experience, this was not an aircraft.
It moved directly overhead from on shore at approx 20 miles per hour. As it's approx 20 miles between Groton and L.I.
, I observed the craft for nearly 1 hr, before losing it over the horizon. It was totally silent. It blocked out about 1/3rd of the sky.
If my estimate of its height was wrong and it was higher in altitude, then it would be even larger. I could not make out any details of its design or construction, other than its shape. This may conform to an FAA reported radar target observed over Groton on 9/11.
Unfortunately although there is a regional airport at Groton, with approach radar, their tower is not manned after 9pm. This craft may have been only 2 miles from the airport at closest approach. I am attempting to coordinate this sighting with radar data from Providence, RI, and Bradbury, CT, as well as USCG records from the RD&C during the imaging test.
At the time this occurred I was too shaken up and afraid to follow up. ((NUFORC Note: Source of report indicates that the date of the incident is approximate. PD)).
