I saw what looked like a bright and close star fall out of the sky after I looked at it, with a speed much faster than gravity. I was driving down NC 421 headed East from Boone headed toward Wilkesboro on my way home from work. I was the only car on the road as far as I could see.
As I was driving, off to the left of the road (right around the area of the Food Lion on Deep Gap on Old 421) was what looked like an extremely bright and close star. It looked almost ovular, like it was a band of light lying horizontal. I happened to notice it out of the corner of my eye, and I looked at it.
Once I looked in its direction, it immediately dropped out of the sky in a perfect vertical drop, as if it was propelling itself downward, much faster than if something was just falling from the sky. After it dropped down, it disappeared and I didn’t see anything else like it for the rest of my drive home. As I was replaying the sight of it, I was trying to think of something else that it could have been, like a floodlight in a construction zone falling off of a post, or a drone; but, I concluded that! the speed at which it was moving had to have been faster than the speed of an object falling due to gravity.

Driving home probably 6-8 pm et. Saw a very bright white light (looked exactly like a bright star) fall straight downward. No tail, extremely fast.
Didn't see a landing because I had to look at the road, but turned down my radio, pulled over, and opened a window to see if I could hear anything crash. I've never seen anything move so quickly, no direction or curve but straight down .

lots osf siteings and no one to talk to I have seen a saucer like disk bronse and silver in color every day for three weeks now and it also seems to be able to create clouds as well as hide behind them. The space craft seems as if it is trying to communicate with me.

I was watching YouTube and noticed a bunch of lights outside my window I tried to take a picture but my iPad’s camera could not render it so I drew it instead. The event is still occurring.

Two unmarked, completely black helicopters flew directly over my head in single file, while I cutting the grass. They were approximately 200 feet or less above my head, moving in a northwesterly direction. There was a long spike on the front of the helicopter, perhaps ten feet in length, probably a gun of some type but I could not identify it.
No lights were noted. I was unable to get a photo, unfortunately. ((NUFORC Note: We spoke via telephone with the witness, and he affirmed that he did not witness what he felt might have been a genuine UFO.
He stated that he submitted the report, principally because the flight formation and ground track of the helicopters was something he had never seen before. PD)).

Orbs of light behind clouds circling around eachother. THIS IS AN UPDATE TO A POST SUBMITTED AT APPROX. 19:30 ET.
by myself. ***update*** After seeing the objects described below I had to return to my studies inside. Approximately 2 hours later at roughly 9:15 PM the objects were still there in the sky.
The only notable changes was that the area they were moving across had expanded substantially and that the sky was generally brighter in their vicinity. I also wanted to note the lights are BLUE in color - not the typical orange or red that is often reported with orbs of light. I have notified a few friends who are seeing the same thing but all are in the local vicinity.
We are all college students and seeing as it is a Tuesday night, no substances are in our bodies. We all agree that the phenomenon is almost mesmerizing. This is 100% genuine.
I have a picture of the orbs from a smartphone that I will email to [email protected]. *prior post: Looking east, above the cloud layer were two - but at times three - orbs of light.
They were about 45 degrees above the horizon and stayed within a small area in the sky. The lights looked large but may have been enlarged due to the glare on the clouds. The orbs would track over the area in either oval or figure-8 patterns, often circling around the other.
The third orb would appear out of one but disappear soon after. The motions were not uniform, although they were not erratic either. It looked as though they would leave a sort of chem trail behind them, and the general area they were n cleared up of clouds - but not entirely.
Could not have been spotlights, the source of the light was above the layer of clouds. A fire alarm was set off nearby in the direction of the orbs, not sure if EM related but worth mentioning.

Large red objected spotted in Boone, NC. Around 7:30 Oct. 21 I went for a run around my neighborhood.
It is dark enough at this hour to see the stars clearly. We are in the mountains and are away from light pollution. Near 8 pm I was jogging back in an attempt to return home when I noticed a very bright red object in the sky.
It was perfectly still at this point. At first I thought to myself "that is one odd star." Then the realization that that couldn't be a star hit me.
It was far too low, blazing red, and brighter/larger than any star that I have ever seen. Just then the object moved down and went rushing off to the left behind some trees. It took me 5-8 seconds to run to the clearing.
It had completely vanished. This was seen near the Deep Gap area.

Large red/orange object spotted over Boone, NC. This sighting shares almost the exact description as the object I reported on 10/21/2011 and both were spotted around the same time of night. I was going for my normal run around the neighborhood.
I was nearing our driveway (around 19:25) when I saw the object above the tree line. It was very large, red, and orange. As soon as I spotted the object I realized that it was exactly like what I had reported on 10/21.
As I was running the object rotated to it's right. As it did so the color changed from red to orange and faded away before my very eyes. The entire sighting lasted no more than 10 seconds.

Bright light appears still but leaves motion trail on digital camera I was just leaving a friend's house on a clear night when I noticed it. At first glance the object appeared to be a bright star or planet about SSW and about 30 degrees above the horizon, but after a second glance it was obvious it was much too bright. It was at least 10-20 times brighter than the north star.
My friend came out and agreed it was definitely something unusual. It didn't appear to move but after a few moments observing it I noticed it looked like it was flickering occasionally. In order to get a closer look, I went inside as soon as I got home and grabbed my digital camera, only 1.
3 megapixel and no optical zoom. It didn't get me the close-up detail I was hoping for, but after I got inside and transferred the pictures to my computer I was astonished to discover that the object was in a completely different and seemingly random location in each one of the shots (about 10 in all) and it also left a significant light trail, or motion blur, in e! very shot. This was very surprising to me since the object APPEARED to stay in one spot when viewed with the naked eye.
Each one of the pictures is shot about 2-3 seconds apart. My only explanation is that it is moving too fast for the human eye to detect which is why it APPEARS to be motionless, but the pictures prove otherwise.

Glowing Green light in Boone NC While traveling 421North from Wilkes County NC to Boone NC, a friend and I witnessed a large, bright, green light with poorly defined edges rise from the mountain top to the left. It rose slowly and appeared to be hovering or moving in the direction that the vehicle was. It changed direction slowly and moved a short distance to the right and extremely rapidly moved into and above a cloud making the entire cloud glow green and it was no longer visible.
Of note, there was a major traffic accident at the bottom of the mountain but this in no way was a medivac or plane! I'm well versed on both and can attest to this.

Took place on the Blue ridge park way. Lots of mountain and wide mountain landscape. Around 50 to 70 objects spotted by me and then i told 2 of my closest friends who both saw what i saw.
Never took my eyes off of them. very far away, but very large which gave the apperence that they were closer then they really were. they were flying in a "V" formation but it wasnt a perfect "V" the lines were staggered.
All were SILVER in color and flashed due to the sun hit there metal bodies, so i was sure they were'nt sky divers. All the object appered to be round and moving at an extremly high rate of speed. They moved a couple of miles behind me (direction i dont recall) and started slowing down to a stop.
Then the objects started a Vortex looking manuver, spinning around each other in an "oblong ball vortex". The objects moved in and out of each other in a complex pattern for around 4 to 6 min. One by one the objects vanished (possibly moving away giving the allusion that they were vanishing).
No Phisical evidence. no photos over video. But cameras were present.
I cant deny what i saw. i am now a true UFO believer.

Circle of lights over BOONE, NC We were driving on 321 EAST (actually travelling North!) just south of ASU campus when I spotted it. A round craft with 5 large lights around the outside of it, blinking off and on in a cascading pattern, directly to the N less than a mile away. It was fairly large and round, I would guess about 100 feet across.
Seemed to be hovering, but weather conditions had low cloud cover that was occasionally covering craft. I asked my wife and 13 year old son "what's that?!" and they proceeded to watch it while I drove. The ights just continued to blink off and on until we moved out of sight range of the craft.

3 lights in moving triangle formation - changed formation to 3 lights in a row. Clear summer night - dim white lights viewed standing at 3400’ mountain elevation in the near NC/Tenn. border.
- very northwest Carolina - top of the mountain viewing position about 25 miles from the nearest town Saw what appeared to be three very tiny and faint lights cruising high speed in a triangle formation at altitude higher than most satellites - as the lights traveled in a straight path - either the two rear lights sped up to form a three light row or the front light slowed to be in the center position row with the other two lights - I could not tell for sure how the formation change occurred as they were very faint and way, way up there - at that distance they were still moving fast enough for the whole event to last 30 seconds at the most to go out of viewing range. The formation change appeared to happen at the same cruising speed and altitude (west to eastern)and with a consistent motion. Also, maybe a month later a very bright yellowish/white light appeared to hover still in clear night bluish sky and became brighter then dimmed and disappeared - this light was about the size of an oncoming motorcycle headlight - it was too bright to make out any shape with it - this light remained stationary the entire event - happened about 3am at the same viewing location of the previous three lights - this light was positioned mid-horizon and seemed very close for about 5 seconds.

Oval, silent, UFO, with very bright red, green, & amber lights, football field size, 100 ft. up, ,7/16/95, Boone. I,a retired state health employee, and a friend, observed a UFO (oval, with red, green, and amber lights, flashing alternately, neon bright, football field size) about 100 feet above our car, while driving on 105S, from Boone toward Banner Elk, NC.
It was silent. We observed it coming toward us, following the road, until it was directly over our head. My friend was driving.
I looked straight up at this huge craft and could see very clearly that it was not a plane or helicopter. We stopped, but it had vanished. The date was 7/16/95 @ 9:30 PM at 1785 Hwy 105 S, Boone,NC.
We called the Police and the News Reporter in Boone the following day to report this sighting, but never reported it to NUFORC until now. There were many sightings reported by MUFON in the western North Carolina area Oct. 1996 to May, 1997, reported in the "High Point Enterprise", dated May 16,1997.

I saw what appeared to be a large boomerang shaped craft with pale blue lights along the leading edge. I was driving east toward Boone, NC, along US Hwy 421, which is in the NE corner of the state, at approximately 10 - 10:30 PM, about the middle of December, of 1982. It was a cold & crisp evening with no clouds, and was a beautiful starry night.
I was looking out my side window toward the nearby mountains which the road paralleled, when something above caught my eye. There was not any other traffic on the road at this time. Slowing down somewhat to try & get a better look at what I had thought I had seen, I rolled the window down & looked out & up.
At this time I saw a bunch of pale blue lights in formation overhead moving slowly toward the northeast. I pulled off the side of the road & got out of my vehicle. Overhead, at what I guessed to be maybe 1000 - 1200 feet above, I could just barely make out the shape of a large dark boomerang and the pale blue lights were evenly spaced along the leading edge.
The lights did not waver and were constant. I could easily see the stars behind the object blotted out as the shape passed in front of them. Shortly after pulling over, another vehicle came along heading in the same direction as I had been.
My lights were still on, & I assume they must have thought I had a vehicle problem, as they slowed down & pulled over a short distance behind me. They saw me standing by the side of the road peeering up, & they also got out to see what I was looking at. There were 2 or 3 people in the other car.
I never did get their names, but pointed out to them what I was seeing. They saw it as well. The shape seemed to be moving quite slowly across the sky.
There was no sound at all. I assumed the altitude of the shape above, as I had nothing to gauge the distance by, it being dark. But looking at the object & holding my arms extended upward & pointing to either side of the boomerang itself, my hands were approximately 3 1/2 feet apart.
This is the only way I can judge how big the shape was, other than that the shape was about the same size as the B-52 bombers, which used to do fly overs on a regular basis over the area during the early days of the Vietnam War, in training missions. These bombers used to fly at about 1000 - 1200 feet, close enough to the ground that you could see the windows along the side, & could easily make out the markings on the wings. I watched this object as it slowly passed overhead, until I could see it no longer.
I don't think it was any kind or type of conventional aircraft, due to the fact that it made no sound whatsoever, & it seemed to be moving too slowly for its size. I have never seen anything like this before or after this one night, but I will certainly never forget what I saw. ((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate.

Large silent cylindar spotted on ASU campus, Boone NC, with large light, hovering just above treetops Myself, my roommate and another friend were sitting and talking outside our student union on a bench overlooking part of the Appalachian State University campus in Boone, NC. ASU is a rural-type university in the Blue Ridge Mtn. range in NWestern NC.
All three of us; at the same time; jumped up and pointed and exclaimed, "What's that?!" There, hovering just above the treetops in the dark, was some sort of a huge cylindar-looking silent craft. I mean it made NO noise. It had a long light that seemed to rotate from the top down towards us.
The light movement seemed to make a humming noise. If "it" did see us; it saw three young women with their jaws agape and their eyes wide as saucers! In an instant, it pulled out of sight - almost as if it disappeared. We stared at each other and then took off like mad all the way back to our dorm - scared to death.
We huddled under a blanket on the couch and tried to calm outselves and to figure what in the world that could've been; too scared to go back out. I realise this happened years ago but I've told numerous people, including my husband and children over the years, so I remember this as if it happened yesterday. It wasn't until recently that I thought to look into this on the web thus found your site.
I am not the kind of person who believes these types of things. I'm rather skeptical and a down-to-earth person. But I KNOW we saw something unearthly or at least unexplainable that night.

Landing lights, lights around the object top and bottom, no noise, very fast and hovered. Three friends and I were camping out during a deer hunt. Our camp was situated on a mountain side that had been prepared by the wildlife service.
It was graded out of the side of the mountain. We were just finishing up dinner when one of the guys said, what is that and he pointed down in the valley toward the road. He asked me if that was an airplane because I am a licenced pilot.
It looked exactly like a small plane trying to land with its landing light on. All of a sudden it stopped and seemed to appear right in front of us about a mile away. My distances are not going to be accurate.
It appeared to be about 500 feet above the ground which would make it just about even with us. When it appeared there was no landing light but it was surrounded with round light that were very bright. It seemed that the top lights were smaller in circumfrance than the bottom lights.
There was no definite shape to the craft but it appeared to be saucer shaped with a bubble shaped top. It seemed alot like CE-1 Vallee: I that is why I'm saying something about my sighting now after all these years. What is a little curious is the fact that we waited for the object the next night and it appeared in exactly the same place but with no landing light, it just seemed to come from the northwest if i remember right and hovered for 30 minutes then left in the blink of an eye you might say.
We went down to where I thought it was hovering but found nothing. We left the same day. I've never seen anything like it again but sure would like to, it was very exciting.
