Faint light colored oval It was moving from west to east. We were watching the meteor shower and this faint, light colored object just slid across the sky making no sound. It was about one inch across at arms length and traveled an arc of about 90 degrees in 10 seconds.
It was really hard to see. My wife also saw it. I saw it as an oval with axis west to east.
She saw it as two triangular wings going north and south. Not a bird. Absolutley no sound.

A bright ball to the right of mt hood (south west of here) coming closer and becoming brighter, 0.2 inches at arms length. We saw a cloud forming behind it as it traveled from sw to ne.
Directly west it was at 10 o'clock in the sky, about a foot long, many large, bright chunks and smaller bright pieces like many sparklers. Looked like ATV-1 re-entry on Youtube. Was still buring up when it reached the far horizon.

Large disk above town moving slowly away My twelve year old son was in our backyard when he looked out over our town to the North (we live on a hill) and saw a disk on edge that was about 4 inches across at arms length and seemed to be 2-3 miles away, 500 to 1000 feet above the town, silently moving slowly away to the North. The side he saw was light in shade but had dark vertical stripes narrower than his fingers. He ran excitedly inside after looking at it to tell my wife but she was on the phone with me – I was at a hardware store and I knew what time it was from that.
At the time it was fairly dark and cloudy. The object was gone when he went back to look at it.

Straight line of white blinking lights headed north, such as a scrolling led sign. Was like nothing I have ever seen before. The lights continued to 'roll' through the sky in a straight line for nearly 20 minutes before ending.
It was easily 40 miles long. Not a small or insignificant event. ((NUFORC Note: Space Link satellites.

Bright shimmering object, not too high above ground level. Looking and moving like flying saucer right out of science fiction. Mid afternoon, sunny day.
Smallish craft, maybe the size of a mid-to full sized RV? Bright reflective silvery shimmering surface, wedge shaped. About 200 feet from shore, maybe only 500-1000 feet above the Columbia River. It suddenly arrived, hovered briefly, then flew off extremely quickly.
Looked as if there was another one high up in the sky, hovering for a while above. I have operated small drones. This did not look like, nor move like any drone I have ever seen.
No apparent sound, silent running.

Formation of 5 ufos sighted over The Dalles, Oregon. We were outside on the patio when my daughter alerted me to a formation of stationary lights to the southeast. They were in a zigzag pattern all equally distant from each other.
The one at the bottom of the formation was much larger with a flashing red light in the center and flashing white lights on each side. The smaller ones had red flashing lights only. At first they were flashing in a pattern to each other then the large one began to move to a higher altitude and toward the Northwest.
The smaller lights lined up and seemed to escort the larger one. One sped up to the front, one went to the side with the last two tightly following. They moved very fast, staying in the same formation until they were out of our sight.

Yellow and greenish fireball streaking to the west over north central Oregon On Thursday morning, 25 July 2013, at approximately 00:26 PDT, I witnessed a fireball travelling west and slightly south from my location on the east side of The Dalles, Oregon. It began in the east-south-east, to the east of the moon, near the lowest star in Pegasus and streaked mainly to the west, disappearing just west of due south. It went under the moon about three quarters of the distance above the horizon as compared to the moon.
I could not tell if it was heading due west and just losing altitude, or if it was actually moving somewhat to the south. The streak itself appeared to have a yellow/gold center with trailing "sparks", but the outsides or borders of the streak above and below had a green tint to them. The streak terminated without any discernable report, either visual or aural.
It just disappeared at a point estimated at an elevation about one half the distance from the horizon to the moon, but well west of the moon, between Sagittarius and Aquila. The entire streak lasted an estimated 3-4 seconds. The length of the streak was considerable, probably consisting of as much as a quarter or even a third of the total length that it travelled in the sky.
My best guess is that this was a meteor, not any type of craft.

saw a large bright ball of light, low, fast and quiet, large bright white ball of light with what appeared to be a tail, traveling low in the horizon, south of The Dalles, from west to east, looked to be traveling about 3 times faster than an aircraft. 2 witnesses to a large orange fireball object flying upwards into the atmosphere Late last night when I was driving around with my boyfriend, we witnessed a fireball looking thing fly above us. It seemed to of been flying at a very fast speed, upwards into the atmosphere. It was orange and when compared to the almost full moon last night, it looked like it was about 1/4 the size of the moon.
We weren't drinking or anything, we did not have any drugs in our system, never have. We both were freaked out by what we had both witnessed. My sister believes that it was a shooting star from my description, but to me that sounds nothing like what it looked like.
It was too large and orange to be a shooting star. And it was traveling upwards. ((NUFORC Note: Witness indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate.
PD)).

I observed a spherical shaped object that appeared to be white with a grey shadow flying north to south between the Columbia River and Eagles Caves over The Dalles. It flew from the Caves towards Sorosis Park. It was a very windy day but this object flew perfectly straight without ever moving up or down or changing speed.
I watched it until it went out of sight. I was not sure if it dissappeared, landed or where it went. At first I thought it was a balloon but after watching it for a few minutes I realized that a balloon would be all over the place in that high of wind, the object appeared to stay perfectly in mid air with the wind not having any effect on it.

I saw weird, moving lights along the Columbia River heading Eastward. On my way to Lewiston Idaho on Wednesday the 26th of November, I was driving along the Columbia River and saw a bright yellow light move past me going Eastward. I was about 21 miles East of The Dalles, Oregon and I was going about 85 or 90 mph.
A light passed above me and was going at least twice my speed. I could see the reflection of the light on the river. I thought it was just a plane, but I rolled down the window and couldn't hear anything.
All of a sudden it seemed to just stop and went North, towards Washington. It was really spooky.

Stationary grounded object north of Dallesport, Wash. Bright silver in sunlight. Not a flying object, but grounded stationary on top of mountain range immediately north of Dallesport, Wash.
, southern Klickitat County, visible as bright sunlit reflection from The Dalles, Ore. (to south across Columbia River). I noticed object because of the glint of sunlight, and viewed it through binoculars because I am familar with terrain and did not know of any road reaching that point.
Object located on summit of range in very rugged terrain. I have since checked on maps and can find no road to location. Object was still very distant even with binoculars, but looked like a large silver, triangular structure, much too big for a tent.
I attempted to set up a spotting telescope, but by the time this was in place the object was no longer visible. I'm curious whether any other sightings of anything unusual this time and location. ((FOLLOW-UP COMMUNICATION)) .
I've been familiar with your organization for a long time. I haven't reported this earlier because I've been trying to decide where to go with it: I planned to hike to the site initially, but Sept. 11 came soon after and I had my hands full getting my job done.
But the sighting has been nagging at me, and I still plan to hike up there to see if I can find any imprints before the spring grass starts to grow. (The area is upland pasture -- very few trees). When I checked the site through my spotting scope after whatever had been there was no longer there, I noticed a small plane crossing east to west close to the hillside -- the plane was closer to my vantage point than the object had been, but even so the plane was very, very tiny through the spotting scope.
Yet the object had been relatively larger, even though farther away. This means it had to have been at least as large as a trailer or small house. Yet no roads up there to bring in a trailer, and houses don't vanish within the space of an hour.
If I do hike into the area, I'll let you know what I find out. Ditto if there's anything in the ((deleted)). Best regards, ((name deleted)).

I was laying in my bed looking through the window which faces to the west. When suddenly a bright orange ball of fire appeared. I watched it for approximately 90 seconds when it left my line of sight through the window.
At that time I went to wake my father for him to see it, but he would not wake. Orange fireball with a streaming tail approximately 4 times the length of the body. It moved slowly through the sky from west to east.

Triangle shaped with lights moving slowly, no sound I was watching what I thought was a helicopter hovering over an electrical substation above one mile or less from my front yard. I watched and watched and it didn't move but stayed where it was for approximately 20 minutes, then moved very slowly to the northwest. It was triangle shaped with lights all around, white, red and green lights, it was not a helicopter nor was it an airplane.
It went straight over the top of me standing in my front yard, thee was zero sound. It moved slowly until it disappeared over the hills. I had heard before of aircraft-like visitors hovering above the substations but that was first one I had seen.
((NUFORC Note: Date is uncertain.)).

I was watching a single light such as an airplane might do when it is coming at you, but it didn't move it just sat there, it was about a half mile away hovering above the Bonneville Power Substation. Then it started moving toward our house and it passed over moving very slow, slower than a small plane. It was triangle in shape with lights and it was without sound, it went right over the top of me.
I watched it until it disappeared over the hill behind my house. The man from Kirkland, WA saw the same thing I did only I saw it years ago. I have seen about five sightings, each one different and they weren't balloons.

Summary : Ball of fire moving up the Columbia River. Just made a "B" line. No sudden movement Was just turning dusk.
Summer of 1981. I looked up in the sky and saw a ball of fire moving up the Columbia River Gorge. I ran in the house to tell others, they too came out to see fire ball.
My friend was also with me. I called the radio station and they said that it was a weather ballon. (Yah right!) We didn't have a camera which I wished I did have one.
All I have is memories of the fire ball that movied horizonally up the River and out of sight, never burning out. It made NO noise what so ever.
